You could say a career in advertising was foreshadowed in Anthony Hello's childhood. After all, two of his influences were fictional advertising executives–Angela Bower from Who's the Boss?, and Darrin Stephens from Bewitched. Anthony was born, raised, and educated in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He moved to Toronto after graduating from the University of New Brunswick, landing an entry level role working on the Labatt Breweries account at Echo Advertising. Anthony went on to senior roles at The Hive, Mediacom, and Bensimon Byrne. During this period his career became increasingly focused on content marketing. Anthony married an American, and he and his husband decided to settle in New York City, where his career continued with senior roles at UMWW and the Mediabrands Content Studio. In his spare time Anthony is also a podcaster. He's the producer and host of All The Boys, a podcast dedicated to telling the historical stories of gay men arrested on so-called morals charges, who were then outed in the press for the sexuality. All The Boys is available wherever you get your podcasts. **Subscribe to the Media People Newsletter** mediapeople.beehiiv.com/subscribe **Listen & Subscribe** www.mediapeople.ca www.youtube.com/@mediapeoplepodcast www.instagram.com/vicgenova/

"Bewitched" is a classic sitcom that originally aired from 1964 to 1972. It revolves around the life of Samantha, a charming and lovely woman who also happens to be a witch with supernatural powers. Samantha marries a mortal man named Darrin Stephens, who at first is unaware of her magical abilities. The central premise of the show revolves around the comedic situations that arise from Samantha's attempts to live a normal, suburban life while keeping her witchcraft a secret from the world around her. This often leads to humorous misunderstandings and magical mishaps. "Bewitched" was an instant hit and soon became ABC's number one show in its first season. The show remained extremely popular throughout its entire eight season run and nearly 60 years after it first premiered is still enjoyed through streaming and syndication. You wanted it? You got it! This podcast is marked [EXPLICIT!]We know Tito from my husband's high school days… Tito very much enjoys the Dark Shadows 2012 film because he doesn't know the old show and frankly, doesn't care! He came over as my husband and I were playing dominoes. It was pretty cool!Instructions on how to differentiate real hate from “manufactured hate”. (It's actually pretty simple, fellow fans…) Then my consultation with Melissa about the “confusion” about the confusion itself. :DTito's 1960's Nostalgia is good enough for me. We begin with a “garbled” discussion between my husband, Tito and I. ^_^ Next we start with “The Kids In The Hall”, then “Clue: The Movie” (with a segue about “Murder By Death” that hopefully wasn't too long). Proceeding with “The Time Machine”, “The Golden Girls” and other cameos in The Pit narrative, a likely a too long segue explaining who Edward Mulhare played on “Knight Rider”. Then “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir”, a Prisoner cameo scene, “The Addams Family” (lots of conversation here including Charles Addams original drawings in The New Yorker) and “The Munsters”. (Bonus Points to Tito for knowing Fred Gwynne from another production!) M*A*S*H and Beetlejuice mentions. Almost neglected “Bewitched” but caught myself in time! (Some focus on Paul Lynde.)Finalizing in bringing out the “Dark Shadows” box set to place on Tito's lap. ^_^ Determining how one could ‘marathon' the whole of “Dark Shadows”. Darrin Stephens hanging-out with Roger Collins ideas… Then I wrap up with various potential scholastic pointers including:Don't focus on the negative and, dare I say it? Don't focus on the positive?Focus on the *NARRATIVE*.Themes for this show: “Katip Arzvhalim Yaz Yare Boyle” by Mogollar, “waltzinblack” by The Stranglers (a favourite band between Tito and my husband) and if one enjoys the background music on the stereo while we chatted? That was a compilation called “Beautiful Noise” by Sunday Records. BUY ‘EM ALL! *wink*

" Bewitched TV - Samantha falls in love with New York ad exec Darrin Stephens and marries him in the first episode of the sitcom. Then Darrin finds out that his new bride is one of a secret society of powerful witches and warlocks and that a twitch of her nose brings magic results. Thoroughly befuddled, Darrin makes her promise never to use her powers. She agrees and tries to settle into being the perfect suburban housewife. Her mother, Endora, however, has a different agenda. She hates that Samantha has married a mortal and continually tries to break them up. Sam's other spellbinding friends and family pop in and out of the Stephens household as Sam tries (and most of the time fails) to live without magic." Bewitched movie - Movie star Jack Wyatt (Will Ferrell) has hit a rough patch in his career. Looking to make a comeback, he signs on to play the role of Darrin in a movie version of the popular 1960s sitcom "Bewitched." Jack insists that an unknown is hired to play Darrin's better half, the beguiling witch-housewife Samantha, so the studio finds an up-and-comer named Isabel Bigelow (Nicole Kidman). Once shooting begins, though, Jack learns that Isabel was cast too well -- since she actually is a witch." --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theysusannamaeohagan/support
Bewitched is an American fantasy sitcom television series, originally broadcast for eight seasons on ABC from September 17, 1964, to March 25, 1972. It is about a witch who marries an ordinary mortal man and vows to lead the life of a typical suburban housewife. The show was popular, finishing as the second-rated show in America during its debut season, staying in the top ten for its first three seasons, and ranking in eleventh place for both seasons four and five. The show continues to be seen throughout the world in syndication and on recorded media. Bewitched was created by Sol Saks under executive director Harry Ackerman and starred: Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha Stephens; Dick York (1964–1969) as Darrin Stephens, her husband (Dick Sargent replaced an ailing York for the final three seasons, 1969–1972); Agnes Moorehead as Endora, Samantha's mother; David White as Larry Tate, Darrin's boss; Irene Vernon (1964–1966) and later Kasey Rogers (1966–1972) as Louise Tate, Larry's wife; Alice Pearce (1964–1966) as Gladys Kravitz; George Tobias (1964–1971) as her husband, Abner Kravitz; and Erin Murphy (1966–1972) as Tabitha Stephens. Annual semi-regulars included Maurice Evans as Maurice, Samantha's father; Marion Lorne as Samantha's Aunt Clara (1964–1968); Alice Ghostley as Esmeralda, Samantha's babysitter (1969–1972); Paul Lynde as Samantha's Uncle Arthur (1965–1971); Mabel Albertson as Darrin's mother, Phyllis Stephens (1964–1971); and Robert F. Simon and Roy Roberts alternating the role of Frank Stephens, Darrin's father (1964–1971). Hanna-Barbera produced the opening and closing animation credits.[1] In 2002, Bewitched was ranked No. 50 on "TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time".[2] In 1997, the same magazine ranked the season 2 episode "Divided He Falls" #48 on their list of the "100 Greatest Episodes of All Time".[3]
We return to one of the true giants of the rock era as we take a dive into Led Zeppelin's debut album, known as Led Zeppelin 1. Band members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham recorded this album prior to securing a recording contract. It was recorded in 36 hours at a cost of 2,100 pounds. Founder and guitarist Jimmy Page produced the album. The tracks are a mix of old blues songs and original material, and feature both Page's stirring guitar riffs and Plant's soaring vocals. Originally touring as The New Yardbirds, they changed their name to Led Zeppelin supposedly after Who drummer Keith Moon commented on The New Yardbirds “going over like a lead zeppelin.”This first album had only one single (“Good TImes, Bad Times”), but most of the tracks would get in the rotation on album-oriented rock stations throughout the U.S.Join us as we take in this rock-and-roll blues debut by one of the masters of the genre. Babe, I'm Gonna Leave YouThis track alternates between soft acoustics and driving rock. This was originally composed by Anne Bredon and was covered by Joan Baez in the early 60's before Led Zeppelin's cover. You Shook MeA deeper blues track was written by Willie Dixon, and was originally recorded by Muddy Waters in 1962, and by Jeff Beck in 1968. This version is slow and somewhat psychedelic, but maintains a heavy feel throughout this long song.Communication BreakdownOne of the well-known tracks from the debut album, it is surprising to realize that this was not a single at the time.I Can't Quit You BabyThis is another Willie Dixon cut, with a distinct feel of the Mississippi delta. It was first recorded by Otis Rush in 1956. "I can't quit you baby, but I've got to put you down for a while." ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Theme from the Television Series “Bewitched”Dick York, the actor who played Darrin Stephens (father of Elizabeth Montgombery's Samantha) on the show, collapsed on the set and was replaced by Dick Sargent. The show continued with the completely different actor until 1972 with no mention of the change.STAFF PICKS:"Ramblin', Gamblin' Man” by The Bob Seger SystemWayne's staff pick features a driving drum beat and the Hammond organ from Detroit's Bob Seger. This was inspired by the Spencer Davis group, and would be Seger's first hit, and only hit until the “Night Moves” album in the 70's.“Build Me Up, Buttercup” by The FoundationsRob features this pop song which has been used by the Los Angeles Angels baseball team among many others. It was written by Mike D'abo, vocalist for Manfred Mann.“Ray of Hope” by The RascalsBruce's staff pick features the New Jersey hit machine known as The Rascals. This song was inspired by the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy in June of 1968. "But there's people who win without making fists. Our world won't survive lest we think like this."“Touch Me” by The DoorsBrian finishes off the staff picks with this Jim Morrison hit. The original name of the song was going to be "Hit Me," but thankfully, Morrison convinced the band to make the change to "Touch Me." INSTRUMENTAL TRACK:“Soulful Strut” by Young Holt UnlimitedOur instrumental close is a well-known riff you may recognize - it was a hit at the time.
In episode 88, Chuck talks about replacement actors! It’s when an actor is replaced by another actor to play the same character. Only actors in television series are considered—and no animal actors are included! One of the most famous replacement actors is Dick Sargent who replaced Dick York as Darrin Stephens on Bewitched. This is a talk I gave at last year's ESI OpenFOAM conference which focussed on the OpenFOAM-related guests that have been on the show & my key takeaways from talking to them. It also gives a bit of background to why & how the podcast came about in the first place. The interviewees in question include Franjo Juretić (Creative Fields), Karim Fahssis (ZephyCloud), David Heiny (SimScale), Darrin Stephens & Chris Sideroff (Applied CCM) and Fred Mendonça (ESI OpenCFD). If you're new here then it should be a nice overview of past interviews & a bit of a rewind for those of you who've been in the podcast family for a while For the really committed, you can watch it with slides, over on YouTube – https://youtu.be/-UeABCmUBo0 Enjoy
Today is the first episode with 2 guests — Darrin Stephens & Chris Sideroff — business partners in Applied CCM, based in Australia & Canada respectively. Whilst Applied CCM have several CFD-related activities, this interview is essentially all about Caelus, their CFD software derived from OpenFOAM®. I really wanted to take this opportunity to dig into the whys & wherefores of Caelus, including: • what makes Caelus different to OpenFOAM, both in terms of features & philosophy; • why forks/derivatives detract from their parent open-source project & what they signify; • what “industrially-hardened” means in a CFD context & why Red Hat Linux was a source of inspiration; • why they have "a thing" about validation; Shownotes Applied CCM — http://www.appliedccm.com/ Caelus — https://www.caelus-cml.com/
