SERIES 3 EPISODE 65: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: Well what do you THINK this episode is about? There are plenty of polls, interior numbers, and tea leaves to read (see "Marist Poll," see Univision polls of Hispanics in Pennsylvania, see Harris outperforming Biden and Hillary in key demos). But if you want to know how this campaign is wrapping up it's way simpler. The Trump-Vance closing argument: misogyny and violence against women. Trump says Mike Tyson should step into the ring against her. And after a week of trying to deny their comedian's "garbage" remarks had anything to do with their campaign, then trying to turn "garbage" into a bloody shirt attack on their own supporters, the night before the election, the world's most smug sexist J.D. Vance undid all of that by calling her "trash." The public polls all look very good for Kamala Harris. The private polls the Trump people see? They must've decided their only chance is to get every last hateful white guy to vote for him - because nobody else is. B-Block (26:54) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Politico's "Who Won The Day?" is a new high in low. Kari Lake explains her polling is better because she mixes in A.I., and Herschel Walker endorsed Trump. Or did he? C-Block (33:45) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Solely because at times of stress it always gives me great joy to re-tell the story of how I met my friend the late actress Elizabeth Montgomery, and how she promptly pranked my parents.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

SERIES 2 EPISODE 104: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) Trump made another threat of political violence and terrorism and once again escaped being treated like any other terrorist or criminal trying to blackmail the nation by promising mass death and destruction if he doesn't get his way. After attending the appeals court hearing on his "presidential immunity" nonsense, Trump said if the prosecution of him continued "It'll be bedlam in the country." But he hasn't engaged in insurrection. Not since Noon Eastern yesterday. Meanwhile his attorney, Judge Luttig's former law clerk, insisted that no, if he hadn't been impeached and removed from office, Trump could not be prosecuted for ordering Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political rival.  But he's not saying HE would CAUSE the bedlam. Besides the background drumbeat of Trumpist political violence, the point of the "presidential immunity" action is to stall. And the Just Security website has game-planned when this Jack Smith prosecution is likely to end. Two of the answers end within plenty of time, the third begins to brush up against an old favorite: the DOJ tradition of not acting within 60 days of an election. And speaking of oldies but goodies, Trump reverts to birtherism. This time his victim is Nikki Haley. And his own mother.  And just for laughs, it was in an 1814 book of witticisms that our ancestors first read "Every man who is his own lawyer, has a fool for a client." So guess who intends to deliver some of the closing arguments in his Business Fraud Trial case in New York tomorrow? Our resident Fool. B-Block (17:48) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: I knew there was a reason not to say anything about the "disappearance" of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin: his "minor medical procedure" was surgery for prostate cancer. And the ESPN/Big Sleeveless Pat/Aaron Rodgers/Jimmy Kimmel disaster escalates: Rodgers denies he implied anything about Kimmel, uses ESPN as a platform to spread vaccine disinformation, and attacks an ESPN VP who had been protecting his buddy's show. Like ESPN's Rush Limbaugh disaster 20 years ago, this will end in tears. (25:15) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORD: political and journalistic accounts mysteriously disappear on Ketamine Musk's site. Judge Judy makes a presidential endorsement. And Lou Dobbs, Tulsi Gabbard, Don Lemon and Jim Rome are too desperate to just stand in front of a mirror and do their new shows to an audience that cares. C-Block (31:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Since it's ESPN time, why not tell again the events of 32 years ago this month when I met the wonderful actress Elizabeth Montgomery on a flight, we became great friends, and she... helped me to launch the ESPN Radio Network?    See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

PAUL CHANDLER on THE INVADERS, THE WILD WILD WEST, VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA, and BEWITCHED. First broadcast on FAB RADIO INTERNATIONAL at 19:00 on September 24th 2023 This week, all the way from THE SHY LIFE PODCAST, PAUL CHANDLER, THE SHY YETI himself is back here on VISION ON SOUND because, well, he had an idea that he thought that I might like to talk about for the show, and knowing - as he does - that I'm always eager to grab at any such demonstration of enthusiasm from the team, he suggested that I might like to try it out. So, basically, PAUL asked himself the question about what sort of Archive TV he might be able to see if he was up and about and away from home and didn't have his extensive collection of television with him. What kind of programmes, essentially, could he watch on a website like THE TUBE THAT IS YOU that might just scratch that itch when he was far, far away from the shelves of YETI TOWERS…? Over the course of several evenings he picked out a few random choices of single stories from four American television series that were popular in the 1960s, and whilst narrowing this down to choices from a single decade might not be quite as completely random as he initially planned, it does give us the opportunity to return to this theme on another occasion by selecting shows from another decade. Anyway, future planning aside, the four very popular and successful series PAUL chose were THE INVADERS, a QUINN MARTIN PRODUCTION from 1967 which featured ROY THINNES as ARCHITECT DAVID VINCENT in an era of deep paranoia when you had to have a responsible profession in order not to be a complete “ALIENS ARE HERE” spouting crackpot, apparently. After that he ventured into THE WILD, WILD WEST featuring ROBERT CONRAD and ROSS MARTIN, before taking a VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA with RICHARD BASEHART and DAVID HEDISON, and ended up being BEWITCHED by SAMANTHA the urban witch as played by ELIZABETH MONTGOMERY. For THE INVADERS PAUL picked out THE TRIAL from the second season, from THE WILD, WILD WEST, he chose THE NIGHT OF THE SIMIAN TERROR from late in the third season, and from VOYAGE he picked TERROR ON DINOSAUR ISLAND from the second year. Finally, it's a pair of fifth season offerings from BEWITCHED, that he chose, in order to keep the running times consistent, the two-part story COUSIN SERENA STRIKES AGAIN. So if you want to watch the specific shows we're talking about after the programme, at time of recording PAUL found all of these episodes on YOUTUBE, and it's always a joy when I can present a show where my guest has done all of the homework. PLEASE NOTE - For Copyright reasons, musical content sometimes has to be removed for the podcast edition. All the spoken word content remains (mostly) as it was in the broadcast version. Hopefully this won't spoil your enjoyment of the show.

SEASON 2 EPISODE 7: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: If she won't revoke his pre-trial release, Judge Upadhyaya must at least bring Donald Trump into court and issue a gag order against him on social media and in public and warn him that if he threatens the judges again, or the prosecutors again, or witnesses again, or the court again, or the department of justice again, or the president again - or as he has done in the three days after she warned him to do none of those things, threaten ALL of them - she will incarcerate him. Nothing else will make the point to him, and whatever the results are, that's fine. Scott Adams hinting at civil war and sharpening 50,000 sketch pencils is fine. These blood-lusting fascists forget who owns all the tanks at the moment. Also: of COURSE Trump has hired another idiot as a lawyer. His defense for the January 6th indictments is that he was idiotically following the idiot advice of an idiot lawyer in John Eastman. Naturally he's going to bring in a new guy who said something so stupid yesterday he invoked Jeffrey Tambor in "Arrested Development" saying he might have committed some light treason. B-Block (20:48) IN SPORTS: USA-hating conservatives exult in Soccer team's loss in World Cup because...they are lost souls. For the first time all year the words "Tim Anderson" and "Hit" are used in the same sentence. And Robin Ventura is now the happiest man in sports. And the Mets are going to run the table, aren't they? O-57, right? (28:44) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: New York Times continues to think it can gain conservative readers by pandering; Vivek Ramaswamy was for Juneteenth before he was against it, and you'll never believe who didn't show up for the House Committee's interview with Hunter Biden's old biz partner. C-Block (35:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: ESPN Radio will now by run by non-ESPN people, which flashes me back to the day we launched it in 1992 and THAT flashes me back to WHY I happened to meet the wonderful actress Elizabeth Montgomery. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The iconic Elizabeth Montgomery is fantastic in this movie as Kate, a woman who goes to visit her sister after learning about her impending divorce. But, when she arrives, her sister is nowhere to be found, there's a raging storm and she's trapped with no phone, no electricity and her sister's killer in the house. There's lots to like here! Great suspense building, acting and pretty solid writing, cinematography and direction! It does get a little repetitive, but it's essentially a one-location film so that's to be expected. EPISODE 188: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:43) SPECIAL COMMENT: All the details are leaked to The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal. Rupert Murdoch did TOO fire Tucker Carlson personally, just weeks after meeting with him. Murdoch was furious at Carlson calling President Zelensky a "Ukrainian Pimp" and even joined a Fox editorial meeting to complain, and furious that Carlson had called a NewsCorp exec (presumably communications mogul Irena Briganti) a C-U-Later. Worse still, the C-word insult appeared in the Dominion lawsuit discovery product. Fox attorneys managed to get it redacted, told Carlson. But he replied he didn't WANT it redacted: he wanted everybody to know he'd said it. And the Fox Board and some executives didn't know until the day before the Dominion trial was to begin - another reason Fox settled. Bottom lines: Fox is clearly revealing everything it has in its Carlson closet in hopes of making him eternally unemployable. Oh, and about 25 days ago Murdoch had dinner at his home in Bel-Air with his fiancee and his top Fox anchor and before the month was over HE HAD FIRED THEM BOTH. B-Block (19:33) IN SPORTS: Two weeks ago he tied the record for the longest hitting streak for any player 20 or younger. Today's he's in the minors. And it's the anniversary of Harry Chili, the guy who was traded for "A Player To Be Named Later" and then the "Player To Be Named Later." Except it never happened; it's just an urban legend (24:33) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Ronna McDaniel lies about Trump and debates; Ron Johnson may actually have a head made of cheese: he suggests Wisconsin will be a safer place to live after catastrophic climate change; and the Vanity Blue Checkmark guy on twitter trying to incite genocide against Trans people and allies. C-Block (30:01) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: 90 years ago this month the most humble superstar I ever met, was born. Why I still miss my friend Elizabeth Montgomery and the extraordinary and hilarious advice she gave me within minutes of the day we met.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast we are talking to Gary Hall, son of actor/comedian Huntz Hall. Like many of our episodes, we find that there are way more questions than there is time to answer and this episode was absolutely one of them. We talk to Gary about, of course, The Bowery Boys and the Dead End Kids of which Huntz Hall a part of since the first Broadway show in 1935 to the last incarnation of the gang in 1958. As Sach Jones, Hall was featured in literally a couple hundred short films and features and became known for his comic relief, his upturned cap and his outrageous behavior, both on and as we learn from Gary, and off the camera. We also spoke with Gary about his mother, Louise Hall who was a pioneer wardrobe and costumer in the 1970s. She worked on shows like The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Bewitchedand Get Smart meaning….his mother not only dressed Elizabeth Montgomery, Barbara Feldon and Mary Tyler Moore, she basically was at the forefront of the women's movement figuratively and literally because of her genius. She was quite the trail blazer as we learn from Gary because as a woman she could not get a job in another part of the business because of her sex.   Gary was a fascinating person to talk to as he is now the second person we've had on the podcast from a pretty unique profession. He also talks about his stint as the principal at the Oakwood School where Josh went to school from K through 9th grades. Gary's insight  gives us a fascinating background on why and how the school was founded and it's roots in the progressive movement and show business and why they intersect. Oh and did I mention, that Gary's father and Josh's mother Edie Adams starred in a Florida production of Arsenic and Old Lace in 1988 co-starring Dody Goodman, James Mac Arthur and Dark Shadow's Jonathan Frid? Yeah this is a good one. Take a listen to the Rarified Heir Podcast. Everyone has a story.

When she saw what she had done, she gave her father 41”--Children's rhyme late 19th century/early 20th century.Lizzie Borden was just another 32-year-old New England single woman who loved her family and was devoted to her church. On the morning of Thursday, August 4, 1892, her world turned upside down with the murder of her father and stepmother in her home. Each was hit multiple times in the head with an axe and with no witnesses, and Lizzie was the only one in the house when the crimes occurred--she was charged with their murder. What happened next was one “trial of the centuries” the media likes to play up along with a mystery that has never been solved. Lizzie was acquitted and lived the rest of her life as a pariah. Who were the Bordens, and why would anyone want them dead? If Lizzie didn't do it, who did? Did her sister Emma know the truth behind the murders? Why is her crime still a source of fascination with dozens of films, books, and documentaries about this one crime?   October 24, 2022 - Something special this week for the season of pumpkins, ghosts, and Candy Corn: A YouTube feature on what Hollywood gets right and wrong about yesterday called History Author Showtime. It's a video breakdown of the 1975 movie, “The Legend of Lizzie Borden,” starring Elizabeth Montgomery, who you may remember as Samantha Stevens from “Bewitched.” I often ask authors what they think of the film or TV portrayals of the past, and for this week, I pulled some soundbites from Cara Robertson, who I interviewed about her book, “The Trial of Lizzie Borden.” “The Legend of Lizzie Borden” was her favorite portrayal of the tried-but-not-convicted alleged murderess. I've previously published Showtime breakdowns of AMC's “The Americans,” which featured former KGB agent Jack Barsky, who I interviewed about his book, “Deep Under Cover. My Secret Life & tangled Allegiances as a KGB Spy in America.”   I also covered “The Dummy,” a 1962 episode of The Twilight Zone. Anne Serling, author of “As I Knew Him: My Dad Rod Serling” had a surprising and amusing recollection of the infamous ventriloquist dummy used in show that I just felt deserved to be highlighted.    Thank you for subscribing at YouTube.com/@historyauthorshow to support more time travel adventures.

We talk to Peter about growing up in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles and how his parents worked on iconic television shows from the 1950s through to the 1990s. For Harry, that meant being directly responsible for shows like “I Love Lucy”, “Bewitched”, “Gidget”, “Gunsmoke”, “Dennis The Menace”, “The Monkees” and dozens more. For Elinor that was iconic roles as Betty Anderson on “Father Knows Best as well as “The Andy Griffith Show”, “The Odd Couple”, “Newhart”, “Get A Life” and many more. Talking to Peter was a real pleasure and a walk down memory lane as we hear behind the scenes tales of family friends William Asher and Elizabeth Montgomery, a first kiss from the daughter of a famous comedian, visiting the set of “Batman”, not visiting the set of “The Monkees” due to Tork's curse and the twisted realization that your school friend actor Johnny is actually playing your mother's son in a TV show. We talk about long gone LA restaurants, restaurants still present, what it was like to be the son of an actress and then meet the child playing your mother's son on her TV show, your first kiss ever with a comedian's daughter, Sabrina vs. Serena, the end of Bewitched, the amazingly cross Paul Lynde, the lone time Peter asked for a twinkle of Elizabeth Montgomery's nose and much more. It's all here on the next episode, of the Rarified Heir Podcast. Take a listen.

Linda's Bumpy Ride on Bumpy Road

A Bewitching Experience Hi Everyone, my friends, fans, and followers. I'm so happy to be here once again to share the many stories I have, to let you in on, and to reveal what's been happening in my life. To start, I've been traveling and missed you all more than you know. February was filled with going here and there and hope you all had a great Valentine's Day. Very Romantic!!! Ummmm!!!By the way, in my 3rd Episode, I deliberately spoke of many intimate, personal feelings, situations and hope it wasn't too much for some of you. After all, the reason for my PC Episodes is to let you in on my life so you really get to know me. But hang on, because this Bumpy Ride becomes a far greater Bumpier ROAD than any of you can imagine. In my 3rd Episode, I shared many intimacies that almost never are shared but I briefly mention a different or other Michael about whom you will learn in this 4th Episode. I've had so many requests to share my fabulous "Three Wishes" Episode of Bewitched and I'm over the top with excitement to do so. As many of you already know I was "Buffy", the blond ninny that could barely see anything without her glasses.Going back, I remember how everyone laughed on the set as I portrayed my character. And please keep in mind they, of course, would not dare laugh until "After a Take" as our Director William "Bill" Asher was known to be Moody, quick-tempered, and as a matter of fact, he would often yell at many of the actors in a way that was demeaning such as the beautiful and lovely Samantha played by Elizabeth Montgomery. In my heart, I felt sad for her because, at that time, she was married to Bill Asher. I have many memories of Bewitched even though I did only one show. A wonderful gentleman was Darin (Dick York) who could be very funny and had a way of making everyone laugh, including me. He was a treasure-trove of wild and crazy stories that he'd begin talking about as everyone, except our Director, would break up and laugh about which of course definitely eased any tension on the set. There was a scene in that show when I was in bed and had to answer the phone. It was perfectly innocent but when I answered the phone I accidentally sneezed and at that moment Bill Asher Screamed "CUT" and "I was mortified and immediately said "I'm sorry. He waited for everyone to be quiet and said "Take 2" a-n-d "Action"!At that very moment, the lunch wagon outside tooted the horn and everything went to hell in a handbasket. Yes, it was lunchtime but on our soundstage, we were thinking about getting the shot done, and well, this was one of those things that happen rarely but that noise distracted Bill Asher beyond his limit. First my sneeze and then.....the beep-beep horn for lunch. Not Good but worse for the actors and crew because our Director was furious about the interruption. Another thing that shouldn't have happened was ... when the soundstage is shooting, it's a foregone conclusion that the red light outside the soundstage goes on. I can only assume that either the lunch truck didn't see it or the red light didn't work. Either way, Bill Asher had every right to be angry and hopefully went to his trailer and possibly took a swig of something.

Sandra was one of the Muni's first leading ladies when the organization was revitalized after the fire and returned to the site in 1965. Sandra actually made her Muni debut in the Tent at the Lake production of Carousel in the early sixties. When the Muni was revitalized and returned to the site in 1965, she was Nellie Forbush in the second production that year, South Pacific. Other roles that Sandra played include Ella Peterson in Bells Are Ringing in 1969, Maria in The Sound of Music in 1972, Margo Channing in Applause and Mame Dennis in Mame in 1975. Sandra stopped performing at the Muni when she got an Equity card. Sandra also had a supporting role in the 1978 miniseries, The Awakening Land, which starred Elizabeth Montgomery and Hal Holbrook. That miniseries was filmed at Riverside Park and New Salem. Sandra's family has also been heavily involved with the Muni, as her children and some of her grandchildren have also been involved. In this podcast I take a look at the classic TV show the Twilight Zone. This episode is called Two and it stars Charles Bronson and Elizabeth Montgomery. This is an anti-war episode when the U.S. was right in the middle of the cold war with Russia. How does it hold up over 50 years later? Does the message still apply? Have we changed any as a society?
