Today we talk with Viviana Rosales Olen  and Matt Harkins, the creators of THNK1994 and the masterminds behind the "Olsens Hiding from Paparazzi" museum and the Mary-Kate and Ash Tray.Viviana and Matt tell us about how THNK1994 was first started with a museum in the hallway of their apartment and has blossomed into an experimental pop culture empire. Their second exhibit in 2016, "The Olsens Hiding From Paparazzi,"  featured paintings by Laura Collins of Mary-Kate and Ashley literally hiding from cameras, which gave museum goes an eerie invasive feeling as they walked through the gallery. THNK1994 is now an entire creative agency which bridges the world of experimental art and pop culture trash in the most delightful ways.Of course, we had to dig into the nitty gritty of their fascination with our gals MK&A. On Friday's Morning Focus, we met Laura Collins from Sixmilebridge, who told us about the December 2018 birth of her son Luan. Far from the happy, routine birth that she had hoped for, Laura found out after her son was born that he required a 'baby cooling' treatment to ward off potential brain damage. To get this, he had to be transferred, without being accompanied by his parents, to Cork University Hospital, which is one of four hospitals where the treatment is available. The other three are in Dublin. Luan is now well, thankfully, but Laura and other campaigners want the treatment to be made available in more hospitals, including in Limerick. Laura spoke with Gavin, while they were also joined by fellow campaigner Carmel Finnegan. The UL Hospitals Group issued this statement on the matter to Clare FM: Neonatal Therapeutic Hypothermia (TH), referred to as ‘Baby Cooling’ is the recognised treatment for babies that have been clinically identified with hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE). Therapeutic Hypothermia (TH) is administered in four maternity centres in Ireland (the National Maternity Hospital, Rotunda, Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital and Cork University Maternity Hospital). All infants born in the Midwest requiring this treatment are transferred to one of these four centres within the timeframes for treatment as set out by international guidelines, which is 6 hours. Passive cooling which involves turning off heat sources around the baby and the removal of the babies clothes commences at UMHL once the infant meets the cooling criteria. The National Neonatal retrieval service retrieves the baby or the baby is transferred by UMHL with the members of our neonatal team to the receiving hospital ensuring that the baby commences treatment in one of the four sites within the timeframe. UMHL has had limited numbers of HIEs over the past three years: fewer than 5 per annum in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Evidence-based research recommends that the best outcome for babies requiring Therapeutic Hypothermia is by treating them in one of the specialist centres with relevant subspecialty supporting services

A year before, Laura knew very little about the “business” world and very little about designing and sewing bags. What she did know was she wanted her life’s work to mean something. She had spent the last decade fumbling through several career paths hoping that one of them would feel right. Before blowing 30 candles out on her birthday cake, her professions ranged from PBS TV Production Assistant in Indiana, Warner Bros. production intern in LA, Associate Director of an all-girls summer camp in Connecticut, and Executive Assistant to the CEO at a publishing company in Massachusetts. She woke up on my 30th birthday and realized what was missing: a purpose.   We had a great time chatting with Laura. She shared so much about how Pansy Maiden came to be and how she wanted to it a brand and company that reflected her life beliefs. It wasn't just about making money, it was also about affecting the world positively. She also talks a lot about how her business shifted when she had her daughter, Djuna. "Now that I've had my daughter I want to do really well in business for myself mainly, but also to show her that someone can have the ability to bring money into the household and contribute in that manner while also building the business and having the ability to work from home. Making the sort of life that you want rather than just settling for what's maybe easiest." Laura shares with us that she never thought she would start a business and sell things that she makes.  She jokes that she put her self through "Handmade University," where she spent months and months researching how to make Pansy Maiden work. She describes success for her right now as, "Working for myself in a creative capacity where I have total control over my own time...and the ability to contribute to our household income." A big turning point or shift for Laura's business and also how the idea of StitchRx was born was he birth of her daughter. Laura realized the way she was running Pansy Maiden was not sustainable. She had to reevaluate her idea of success as well as reevaluate her business. "You can't have it all, it doesn't exist...It's all about trying to figure our how you can make it work for you."
