Welcome to the Calm Edged Rebels podcast.    Trudy, Jenni and Advita are back with season four of our award-winning podcast.     In our weekly podcast, we share our views on the big subjects for professional communicators, leaders and coaches. We also take the opportunity to share topical issues with you.     In our news section Advita and Trudy talk about meeting up at events, in person or virtually, including the recent Big Yak un-conference and the Diversity in PR conference. What are the benefits of meeting up in person and what do we get out of events? We also announce an exciting new podcast.    Our big topic is all about the role of technology in our lives and the way it's changed  our behaviours.    We're aware of the important role technology played in connecting us through the pandemic, but did the rapid rise of virtual working mean we failed to create the behavioural rules needed to know how to use technology with good grace?   Why do we feel more ‘human' when we meet in person and how do we build those human traits into our meetings and interactions when we're using technology?   We talk about the implications for meeting etiquette, the role of vulnerability and connection and the potential for gaining more social advantages from technology.   Throughout the conversation we refer to the following books, articles and reports: Redefining Communications research download: Communicating with Generations Y and Z  Downloads - Redefining Communications (redefiningcomms.com)   Calm Edged Rebels blog: The practice of Productive Disagreements The positive practice of productive disagreement - Calm Edged Rebels   Simon Sinek podcast with Brené Brown Episode 27: The One With Brené Brown | Simon Sinek   Redefining Communications download: Seven tips for running better online meetings Downloads - Redefining Communications (redefiningcomms.com)   Redefining Communications workshop: Productivity Power of productivity workshop - Redefining Communications (redefiningcomms.com)   Comms Rebel coaching workshops Coaching and Mentoring Packages — Comms Rebel   Colinear Executive Coaching: EXECUTIVE COACHING - Colinear   If you want to find out more about this topic, or about us, head over to https://calmedgedrebels.com for all the info.

When I examine my journey in breaking through the Pet Industry, I am reminded of the lingering subconscious thoughts of people who believe Black people are animals. This discussion brings to light the real atrocities that took place on the plantation for young slave girls. My ancestors came to me in a dream and asked that I share this story and to reveal the truth that the world would rather ignore. The relationships between Mistress and the young slave girls is also examined and brings to light the disharmony between black and white women which stems from slavery. Additionally, black slave girls since in the inception of slavery, were taught to be self sacrificing caregivers. This segment details the objectification of Black women's bodies and the misleading perception around the world that Black women are nasty, hoars, jezebel, demons, harlots, unworthy of love, single parents, and the vengeful angry Black woman. As we begin to identify important signifiers that have oppressed Black women, we must examine how slavery impacted the marriages between master and his mistress. I speak about retaliation and crimes against black slave children. In order to heal as a nation, we can't sugar coat sodomy and other terrible crimes inflicted upon slave children in general. The psychological effects from torture, systematic racism, and the subjugation of a nation has yet to be fully spoken about without backlash. This segment is not for the faint at heart. I once had a friend tell me that no one cares about what I have to say. If I have to listen to violence, ignorance, and hatred on a daily basis, then speaking on real truth is what real people want. I have been battling why I am met with scrutiny when it comes to my products for pets. This experience has caused me to go back into time and understand the racial climate then and now. The truth is, Black people in general are viewed as scary, violent, sexual, ignorant beings by many people. These thoughts are suppressed and unearthed when it comes to doing business, promoting people of color, or giving us what we need to Not feel like we are living as animals. I hope that this information will help you in these trying times. www.plantwhisper.com #blackentrepreneurs #Colorado #blackenterprise #change #healing #growth #entrepreneurlife #petstore #denverpets #petlife #ancestors #slavery #blackgirlmagic --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/hair-and-skin-alchemy/message

This episode is a short clip from the Tea With Tayler episode called ‘The Anti-Human Movement'. In this portion of the episode, I discuss on the ideology behind dehumanization, primarily focusing on the article ‘Less Than Human': The Psychology of Cruelty that was published by NPR in March, 2011. Full Episode: The Anti-Human Movement. In this episode of Tea With Tayler I discuss the anti-human movement and how it is rooted in many other prominent movements today. Whether it be through the environmental movement, population control or abortion, all of these movements have an anti-human sentiment. In many instances their impact has resulted in devastating human rights violations and influenced the world wide phenomenon of eugenics and forced sterilization that played prominent role in the United States in the 20th century. Throughout this episode I will review the following reading materials and provide my opinion. Sources: 1. The Population Bomb - Paul Ehrliich, 1975 2. Less Than human. When you are labeled as a sex offender, you are immediately treated less than human by a lot of people. You feel insignificant and like an unproductive member of society. You feel remorse and regret for the dumb decisions you have made in your past but that does not matter because you get all the shame that comes along with it including the registry, the limits of your status, having to explain to people your status and why you have changed, being turned down for job interviews, dates and by people in general. You have to hear from countless people that all offenders should just be killed or put in jail for life. You mean something and if you are on the right path, not offending and trying to life a positive and productive life, you shouldn't have to deal with some of this. Always move forward and do the right thing, whether people doubt you or not. You can make a difference even if you feel insignificant. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/Offender/message

For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, God decided, through the foolishness of our proclamation, to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks desire wisdom, but we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.Consider your own call, brothers and sisters: not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, things that are not, to reduce to nothing things that are, so that no one might boast in the presence of God. He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, in order that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”1 Kings 21:17-29Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying: Go down to meet King Ahab of Israel, who rules in Samaria; he is now in the vineyard of Naboth, where he has gone to take possession. You shall say to him, “Thus says the Lord: Have you killed, and also taken possession?” You shall say to him, “Thus says the Lord: In the place where dogs licked up the blood of Naboth, dogs will also lick up your blood.”Ahab said to Elijah, “Have you found me, O my enemy?” He answered, “I have found you. Because you have sold yourself to do what is evil in the sight of the Lord, I will bring disaster on you; I will consume you, and will cut off from Ahab every male, bond or free, in Israel; and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah, because you have provoked me to anger and have caused Israel to sin. Also concerning Jezebel the Lord said, ‘The dogs shall eat Jezebel within the bounds of Jezreel.’ Anyone belonging to Ahab who dies in the city the dogs shall eat; and anyone of his who dies in the open country the birds of the air shall eat.”(Indeed, there was no one like Ahab, who sold himself to do what was evil in the sight of the Lord, urged on by his wife Jezebel. He acted most abominably in going after idols, as the Amorites had done, whom the Lord drove out before the Israelites.)When Ahab heard those words, he tore his clothes and put sackcloth over his bare flesh; he fasted, lay in the sackcloth, and went about dejectedly. Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite: “Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring the disaster in his days; but in his son’s days I will bring the disaster on his house.”

ORIGINAL AIRDATE: November 3rd, 1985 --- On this week's show, we'll "bond" with treacherous casino owner Catlin [SPECIAL GUEST: Vernon Wells!] MISSION: When sixty million dollars disappears on its way to feeding starving African children, MacGyver is brought on to track it down. The search lands Mac in an island casino right out of one of James Bond's far-fetched capers. This week's highlights include: SPECIAL GUEST: VERNON WELLS! The insanely talented Vernon Wells did us the great honor of sharing his time with our program this week. He was such an asset to the series that he was invited back to play a second role in MacGyver's third season, evidently at RDA's insistence. Mr. Wells has had a long and prolific career, but he is perhaps best known for the roles of Wez in George Miller's The Road Warrior and Bennett in Mark L. Lester's Commando. More recently he enjoyed a 38 episode run as the main villain of Power Rangers Time Force, and he's certainly not showing any sign that he is slowing. Keep an eye out for the several upcoming projects he mentioned during our chat: - "The Promise" (which Wells will be directing himself!) - "Less Than Human" - 2013's "Throwback" (and the upcoming follow-up "Starspawn") - "Western X" (a web series) - "Tom Hennessy" - "After The Harvest" Editor's Note: When this episode was recorded, MacGyver's houseboat was still up for sale (with a mere $36K asking price) but is unfortunately off the market as of January 12th, 2015. Schwarzenegger as John Matrix with some kind words about today's guest. And here's more footage from that awesome episode ending stunt. Acoustic Resonance (Physics) Resonance occurs when a string, tube, or glass is vibrated at a specific frequency.  The result of which is sound.  Rubbing your fingers across the surface of a wine glass, for example, sticks and slips so quickly as you move your finger around the rim, that the once at the right frequency, the vibration of the glass produces sound that can be manipulated by add fluids to the glass which absorb the energy of the vibration. Check out the article on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acoustic_resonance. Watch S1E5: "The Heist" on CBS's website or check the alternative streamability of this episode here.

Treating some in our midst as expendable is, sadly, a very human condition. Taking it as a challenge, though, I've realized that it's nearly impossible to find "pro-life" advocates who are capable of reducing our society's reliance upon abortion. Most seem more devoted to creating unwanted pregnancy than curtailing it. Worse, the focus is less about making a difference in the lives of women and their children and more about self-righteously proclaiming disapproval. It is heartbreaking for those of us who care about unborn children and also women who feel they cannot bear them. "Both" is a choice we are rarely asked to consider.
