When Dynamite solicited the return of The Herculoids into the comics medium, I was immediately concerned. Oh no, who's writing it? It is such a beloved childhood property of mine. Who could do it justice? Then my fears were allayed when saw Tom Sniegoski was at the reins. Rally Ho and away we go! As Hanna Barbera entered their first, brief action/adventure phase, their old comedic roots would still be showing with this particular series at the same time. Thus you had the boisterous Ted Cassidy-voiced Frankenstein Jr bellowing his way through madcap monster battles while the Impossibles took on various eccentric criminals between jamming out. Hard to believe today this show was considered too violent for TV, when it was kind of mild even back then!

In 1994, he convened the National PTA, National Education Association, UCLA School of Education, and producers from throughout the industry to draft the first voluntary set of program guidelines for children's television. In 1996, he hosted the first meeting between then FCC Chairman Reed Hundt and children's television producers. Today under Kartoon Studios, Heyward produces and licenses brands ranging from Stan Lee Universe, to Baby Genius, to Warren Buffett's Secret Millionaires Club, to Thomas Edison's Secret Lab, to Stan Lee's Superhero Kindergarten, to the recently released Shaq's Garage for the global market. He has also been the largest producer of FCC mandated educational informational programming for children, and has produced hundreds of PSAs promoting child safety, health, exercise, and nutrition. In collaboration with Warren Buffett, he produces the short film which opens the annual Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders meeting, and he co-authored a book with Warren Buffett promoting financial literacy for kids. Heyward is also the author of Go Go Gadget – The Creation of Inspector Gadget. Andy's notable work in children's programming has earned him multiple industry awards, and his charitable efforts off-screen have resulted in numerous recognitions. Some of his awards include two Emmys, nine Emmy nominations, two Humanitas Awards, two Cable Ace Awards, five Golden Reel Awards, three Environmental Media Awards, a New York Television Festival Award and a National Education Association Award, among others. Mike Joens put his faith in Jesus Christ while in the Marines. He went on to become a successful animator and has now created a series for children. (click for more)It was a dramatic turn in his life in 1972 when Mike Joens became a Christian while serving in Naples, Italy. For the next several years, he worked for studios such as Hanna Barbera, Filmation, Warner Brothers and Marvel Productions. He worked as an animator, storyboard artist, character designer and writer, honing his skills on every level, while learning the nuts and bolts of cartoon production. Mike's dream all along was to create an animated series for children that would teach God's Word. First, numerous successful scripted television shows made their way to Saturday mornings in the mid-70s, like I Dream of Jeannie, Gilligan's Island, and Star Trek.  The Partridge Family got the same treatment in 1974, but with a catch--it's set over 200 years in the future.  Also, some key components in the Partridge Family universe were missing.  If you see the show image, it looks awfully similar to a venerable Hanna-Barbera series, and for good reason.   Then, it's time for another Revisited episode.  This time, we're looking at a show that, in recent months, has appeared on-demand and airs with regularity on a FAST channel.  We're checking in again with The Ropers and questioning whether it truly is one of the 50 worst shows in TV history.  You be the judge, but we think it does not deserve that moniker.   Follow us at all our socials via our Linktree page at linktr.ee/itwasathingontv    Timestamps 0:31 - Partridge Family 2200 A.D. Yes, it's “The Smurfs Christmas Special!”In this 1982 special, the Smurfs prepare their smurfberry pudding as they trim the tree. When Greedy eats the last walnut, they venture into the woods. Meanwhile, a grandfather is regaling his two grandchildren with tales of Santa Claus when their sleigh overturns. Of course, the children leave to retrieve help and run into Gargamel. After sending them away, he's visited by a diabolical stranger who offers him a Smurf-destroying scroll in exchange for the two children.Luckily, the Smurfs run  into the children who think Papa Smurf is Santa Claus. Unfortunately though, the stranger apprehends the children and Gargamel and begins a ritual to send them all to hell. The little blue guys show up and sing their Christmas tune “Goodness Makes the Badness Go Away.” The stranger vanishes, and the Smurfs make a Christmas wish to restore their village. Oh, and the kids are saved . Gargamel gets nothing.Brainy Smurf? Check. Papa Smurf? Got ‘im. June Foray Smurf? Only if it's Jokey!
