Due to some unexpected circumstances, I was unable to get an episode out this week. However, our friends, Lori and Jen at Dealing Justice have just dropped a new season and they were gracious enough to share their first episode from Season 3 with us! Fourteen-year-old Anthony Lamar Peterson went missing during the summer of 2005 while visiting family in Palatka, Florida. Days later, his unrecognizable body was found floating in Deep Creek, just miles from where he was last seen. In a bizarre twist, Anthony's remains would go unidentified for months, leaving his mother to search the small rural town in vain for her only son. Want more Dealing Justice? The state of Kansas just came out with their first cold case playing card deck this spring. They're still being distributed in prisons and jails throughout the state. Ernie Ortiz's case is featured in the first deck from Kansas. The murder of Ernie Ortiz: On September 12, 2019 lifelong Garden City resident and restaurateur 69 year old Ernie Ortiz was shot and killed outside of his restaurant, El Conquistador as he was closing for the night, leaving his loving family and tight knit community in shock. Ernie came from a huge family and although he never married or had children of his own his nieces and nephews say he was like a father figure to them. They all vow to find justice for their uncle. Robbery is believed to be the motive and Marcus Roady was arrested a few days after but had to be let go due to insufficient evidence. Dealing Justice interviewed Ernie's family and the Garden City Police Department. ** TIPS: Anyone with information on Ernie Ortiz murder is asked to call the Garden City Police Department at (620) 276-1300. If you have a tip and wish to remain anonymous you can call Crime Stoppers at (620) 275-7807 or text your tip to Tip411 (847411). Text tips also remain anonymous. And a reminder there is a reward, potentially up to $11,000 if your tip leads to the arrest and conviction of Ernie's killer or killers. We also interviewed Garden City Police Department and if you tag them on Facebook and Insta they'll more than likely share your post and episode. Audiochuck, the production house behind quite a number of popular True Crime podcasts, has been accused of stealing the concept for their newest podcast (The Deck) from the independent podcast "Dealing Justice." To be honest, it looks pretty grim for and paints them in a very poor light. I'll discuss it in this episode. I'll also discuss Listen Notes, and how I think it's causing more problems than it's helping podcasters - at least relative to data and rankings. Stranger than Fiction. Three cold case cards, six victims and one small town. This is the conclusion to a 3 part series out of Jackson County, Florida that ends with the death of a police officer, a nurse and the Sheriff's wife at the hands of a vengeful killer - disguised in a wig and makeup.
