Welcome to the CKCB Canada Binge! This is the first of at least 4 Canadian true crime cases in a row! And, joining us on this episode are Christie and Melissa of the Buried Motives Podcast! This episode is on Alan Legere, someone who could have been classified as the first incel. He had a typical rough upbringing that could be expected for any kid whose father walked out on him. But, he took it personally, like the world was conspiring against him. This attitude spilled into adulthood, where he began committing robberies, and assaults, and later, sexual assault attempts. People owed him their wealth, and women owed him sex, and he was going to take it. He committed his first murder by robbing an elderly couple. He killed the man, and sexually assaulted the woman, and thought he killed her, but she survived. He was arrested, but escaped, and for several months, he terrorized the small town of Miramichi. He robbed, and murdered, and had the town in panic, and stayed one step ahead of the police until he was finally caught, and locked away for good.
Allan Legere was a man that terrorized a town in Canada. He was able to escape from a New Brusnwick prison after committing a terrible crime and taking two innocent people's lives. Instead of running as far from home as he possibly could, he headed right back to town to punish those that convicted him...and punish them he did. Join us this week as we make the trek to Canada to hear the story of the Monster of the Miramichi. Sarah tells us about the notorious Canadian rapist, arsonist and serial killer Allan Legere. Charged and convicted for the murder of John Glendenning, this should have been the last of Legere, but he hatched a plan to escape. Authorities seemed to have a really hard time locating Legere. During this time Legere terrorized the residents of the Miramichi River Valley. For astrology, we continue to talk about Aquarius and on 2/8 Mars in Capricorn will trine Uranus in Taurus.

Allan Legere believed that the community he was raised in was responsible for how his life turned out. When he was convicted of murder in the late 80s, he believed that too was the community's fault, so he broke out of prison and began terrorizing them. Snow was on the ground, a chill was in the air, and Christmas was all around. I put on my boots and hat, zipped up my coat, and headed into the cold to check my mailbox. When I opened it, I found some flyers, a gift I had ordered for my mom, and a handful of Christmas cards friends and family who still hold on to the traditional way of staying connected. My grandma scribbled her name on one, my friend Craig sent me his regards along with an updated family photo, but there was one I couldn’t immediately identify that looked a little thicker than the rest. The name on the front of the envelope wasn't that legible, so I opened it still not knowing who exactly it was from. inside, was a very typical Christmas card... decorated with a little church and a stylized font wishing Christmas Blessings. overall very typical… until I opened it. Inside, I saw a card completely covered with barely legible writing, and a separate multipage letter covered with the same scribbled text. Just as I began contemplating who sent such a bizarre card I noticed the only piece of easily legible writing.
Tonight we are talking about a notorious New Brunswick, Canada murderer dubbed the "Monster of the Miramichi". In part 3 we start with the news of the death of the Daughney sisters which flooded through the small towns of Miramichi, the whole community was utterly terrified. The fire set at the Daughney sisters’ home was soon put out by local firefighters and the police managed to recover the brutally mutilated bodies of the two sisters. They also managed to secure vital evidence in the case. This case would prove to be historic in Canada, as it was the first to use DNA evidence in a murder trial.

In all corners of our country, if you ask the right people, you’ll hear stories of ghosts or monsters that at some time in the area’s history briefly made themselves known. This episode will describe one such case. It will feature a community crippled with fear and overcome by a feeling of defenselessness. A community in which it's most vulnerable were preyed upon by a beast too frightening to be dreamt up. Like many of horror literature's greatest villains, by day this monster hid in the forest that surrounded the village and only at night, under the cover of darkness, would it enter civilization to exercise it's wickedness. But, unlike horror’s many boogeymen and boogeywomen what made this monster so terrifying is that he isn’t a work of fiction... in fact, the community knew exactly who was preying on them. Tonight, In this episode of Nightttime, We will hear the story of an infamous Canadian serial killer who, after a daring prison escape, stalked his community, murdering several elderly citizens while hiding in the dense forest surrounding the region. This is the story of Allan Legere... the Monster of the Miramichi In this episode we are joined by Rick Maclean (Editor of Miramichi leader, Author of Terror) who provides his account of the many twists and turns that unfold during this terrifying story. Allan Legere, commonly known as the Monster of the Miramichi, is one of Canada's most notorious serial killers. After being sentenced to life in prison for murdering a shopkeeper in 1986, Legere escaped from a New Brunswick hospital. His escape was followed by over 200 days of unpredictable terror, as Legere looked to wreak as much havoc as possible - it would end with the brutal deaths of four more innocent people, and leave thousands around Miramichi in a state of panic. In the second episode of our Killer Canucks series, we talk about the life and crimes of Allan Legere, the Monster of the Miramichi. In 1989, Janel's home province of New Brunswick was paralyzed with fear when a convicted killer made a daring escape from a maximum security prison. The killer, Allan Legere, began a 7-month reign of terror to get back at his hometown, securing his place as one of Canada's deadliest - but generally unknown - serial killers. Join us to hear a discussion of Legere's crimes, a probably-too-detailed explanation of arson techniques, and Jessica having an asthma attack live on air.
