Text Dr. Lenz any feedback or questions Abdominal Migraines, Weather, and Early Fibromyalgia Clues: Pediatric Case and Listener FeedbackThe episode shares insights on fibromyalgia-related problems with a focus on the role of weather and activity in flareups and how symptoms can begin years before an adult fibromyalgia diagnosis. A pediatric case is presented of a 10-year-old boy with intermittent severe upper abdominal pain lasting hours to a day, nausea without vomiting, reduced appetite, and mild to moderate headaches, with no red-flag symptoms (no fever, diarrhea, bloody stools, weight loss, rash, bruising/petechiae, or joint swelling) and a normal physical exam. Family history includes migraines (maternal aunt), fibromyalgia (maternal grandmother), and restless leg/growing pains (father). The diagnosis is abdominal migraines, and the discussion emphasizes treatment approaches including restoring consistent exercise (noting a drop in activity during winter after basketball season), improving sleep regularity, considering coexisting restless leg syndrome and iron deficiency, maintaining a healthy diet, and screening for stressors and untreated ADHD. The episode also discusses how colder weather and shorter days can reduce activity and contribute to symptom worsening, and recommends tracking steps and adapting with indoor activity or appropriate clothing; it notes that extreme cold or heat can trigger fibromyalgia pain flares. Listener feedback includes praise for a five-part ADHD series with Dr. Dodson and a question about finding fibromyalgia care in Tampa, Florida, with guidance to start with primary care and noting rheumatologists often diagnose fibromyalgia after ruling out inflammatory disease.00:00 Episode Overview00:37 Pediatric Case Setup01:54 Key History Questions04:43 What Changed This Winter06:42 Exam Findings07:45 Diagnosis Abdominal Migraine08:31 Treatment Basics10:19 Weather Exercise Connection14:56 Fibromyalgia Early Clues15:49 Listener Feedback Q&A16:42 Finding Fibro Care17:53 Wrap Up and Goodbye Support the showWhen I started this podcast and YouTube Channel—and the book that came before it—I had my patients in mind. You'd think that with all the power moves Trump is making on the international stage (Greenland, Venezuela, Iran, etc.) the publication of the administration's National Security Strategy in December of 2025 would've been the source of much public attention. Unfortunately, mainstream media largely overlooked the document with much of the analysis relegated to the foreign policy community. That's all set up for introducing my guest who offered a very intriguing and original take on the NSS: it's a true strategic document in that it's primarily focused on first principles and philosophical arguments. In other words, it's a work of political philosophy as opposed to a work of bureaucratic prioritization.More intriguing, my guest isn't some career foreign policy type or academic who spends his days buried in the particulars of global politics and international security concerns. My guest today is Ron Dodson, the founder and CEO of Dallas North Capital Partners, a Texas-based hedge fund, and something of a polymath. My burning question for Ron is “How did a hedge fund manager in Dallas see something in the NSS that the broader foreign policy community missed?” Subscribe to Tim Talks Politics on Substack for the full show notes (30% off for podcast listeners)!

Many translations render Rom. 8:28 as, "all things work together for good." The NLT renders the same words as, "God causes everything to work together," a construal that is represented in some ancient Greek manuscripts. Yet another possibility would be, "the Spirit works all things together." What explains these differences? A past contributor to this podcast, Joseph Dodson is the Dr. Craig L. Blomberg Chair of New Testament at Denver Seminary. In addition to other publications, he has written Paul the Rabbi Philosopher: Stoic and Jewish Philosophy in the Apostle's Thought, and (with Mattie Mae Motl) Conquerors Not Captives: Reframing Romans 7 for the Christian Life. He is working on commentaries on Romans (Brill) and Colossians-Philemon (Holman). In the Cretaceous Period (c.100 million years ago) Egypt and North Africa were radically different environments. With vast tidal flats and mangroves, and a shallow sea, the continent fostered numerous animal and plant species. Creatures like Paralititan (sauropods); the sprinting Deltadromeus; the infamous Spinosaurus; and the newcomer Tameryraptor. These have been preserved in the fossil record from Egypt and other countries in North Africa. California agriculture is facing growing challenges—from extreme weather and trade pressures to regulatory shifts—but the future of farming depends on the next generation. On this episode of the AgNet News Hour, hosts Nick “The Ag Meter” Papagni and Lorrie Boyer spotlight the California FFA Foundation, exploring how youth education shapes the state's agricultural workforce and leadership pipeline. Katie Otto, Executive Director of Development for the California FFA Foundation, shares her personal journey—from a young student hesitant about agriculture to a passionate advocate for FFA. She emphasizes the power of ag teachers, like her mentor Mr. Dodson, who change lives and open doors to leadership, public speaking, and career opportunities, even for students who don't grow up on a farm. With over 108,000 members in 374 chapters statewide, FFA reaches urban and rural students alike, providing hands-on experiences in agriculture, technology, finance, and leadership. The iconic blue jacket unites students across states, fostering lifelong connections and building a skilled workforce for every facet of the agriculture industry. Otto also highlights the critical role of industry and alumni support, including fundraising, mentoring, and volunteering to sustain programs that develop both soft and technical skills in students. Looking ahead, California FFA is gearing up for an active 2026 calendar: leadership academies, FFA Week, the Sacramento Leadership Experience, and the State FFA Leadership Conference in Ontario, which draws thousands of participants. Additionally, events like the Blue Corduroy Classic online auction help fund student opportunities, including travel, jackets, and educational programs. The episode also raises concerns about potential cuts to ag education in other states, highlighting the need to support teachers, rural communities, and student programs that sustain California's agricultural leadership. As Otto explains, investing in FFA ensures students are prepared for careers in production agriculture, agribusiness, technology, finance, and beyond, keeping California agriculture strong and innovative. Listen to the full episode for insights into FFA's impact on students, the importance of ag teachers, and the critical connection between youth programs and California's agricultural future. Why can't I stop sinning? And what is Romans 7 really about? This video tackles one of the most confusing and debated passages in the New Testament. Is Paul describing the normal Christian life of ongoing defeat and struggle? Or is Romans 7 about a non-Christian wrestling with sin under the law—especially when Romans 6 and Romans 8 seem to say the exact opposite? In this episode, we carefully walk through Romans 7 in its full context, looking at how Paul's argument flows from freedom from sin in Romans 6 to life in the Spirit in Romans 8. We ask hard questions that many Christians, Gen Z believers, skeptics, and Jesus-curious viewers are already asking: Why do I still struggle with sin? Does struggling mean I'm not saved? Is the Christian life meant to feel powerless—or transformed? If you're a new Christian, someone struggling with faith, or a believer trying to understand sanctification, grace, and the power of the Holy Spirit, this video is for you. We explore theology, lived experience, and biblical interpretation to help clarify whether Romans 7 describes ongoing Christian defeat or a life before Christ—and why that distinction matters for freedom, assurance, and spiritual growth.Got any questions or topics you'd like to hear about? Season 9 continues with another powerful chapter in the Social Media & You series as Izzy Baker sits down with Anthony Dodson, also known as Mr. Six Ways, for a deeply layered conversation about family, legacy, rebranding, and mental health. Recorded during the holiday season, this episode explores how social media has reshaped the meaning of family — sometimes strengthening blood ties, and other times creating chosen communities that feel just as real.Anthony opens up about building a business alongside his daughter and the often unseen tension of balancing fatherhood with entrepreneurship. Together, he and Izzy unpack the emotional weight of legacy, generational wealth, and the responsibility of not passing down unresolved trauma. The conversation challenges the idea that financial success alone defines legacy, emphasizing instead the importance of healing generational wounds, protecting a child's identity, and prioritizing mental health over optics.A central theme of the episode is rebranding — not just online, but internally. Anthony speaks candidly about stepping back from constant social media engagement, losing followers during his transition, and shifting his focus from surface-level financial literacy to character development, burnout recovery, and emotional health. Izzy connects this to his own journey of evolving professionally and creatively, highlighting how rebrands often feel uncomfortable before they feel aligned. The discussion also confronts difficult but necessary topics, including suicidal ideation, survivor's remorse, and the pressure Black men face to remain strong while carrying inherited burdens. Anthony shares how social media can distort self-worth, amplify comparison, and drain mental health, while also acknowledging its potential as a tool for education, community building, and legacy work when used intentionally. As the episode closes, the two reflect on family dynamics, holiday triggers, and what it truly means to leave something better behind — not just money, but memories, emotional safety, and freedom. This episode is for anyone navigating change, questioning their online identity, rebuilding after burnout, or trying to build a future that heals rather than repeats the past.Listen. Reflect. New Testament scholar Dr. Joseph Dodson believes the answer is yes and explains why in his book Conquerors Not Captives: Reframing Romans 7 for the Christian Life. In this episode, he joins Dr. Keith Plummer to discuss his take on this much-contested passage.

Emily Kircher-Morris and Dr. William Dodson have a conversation about the complexities of ADHD, in which they discuss emotional dysregulation, Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD), and social anxiety. They talk about how RSD manifests in ADHDers, and how we can distinguish it from social anxiety. They also explore the impact of childhood experiences, the vital role of relationships, and the need for updated diagnostic criteria. This conversation was taken from a two-part series earlier in 2025. TAKEAWAYS Emotional dysregulation is often overlooked in ADHD diagnoses. RSD is a specific condition affecting many with ADHD; the pain can be both emotional and physical, leading to significant life impairments. Social anxiety is anticipatory, while rejection sensitivity is reactive; they can coexist but are distinct. Childhood experiences can exacerbate RSD but are not the sole cause. Medication, alongside sleep, nutrition, structure, and routine, plays a vital role in emotional regulation. Mood disorders can manifest independently of external events, and a significant percentage of individuals with ADHD have coexisting psychiatric diagnoses. Understanding RSD is essential for clinicians, and psychoeducation is key to self-advocacy. Here's the research project Emily mentions in her closing thoughts. Dr. Bill Dodson is a board-certified adult psychiatrist who has specialized in adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder for the last 27 years. In recognition of his clinical contributions to the field of ADHD he was named a Life Fellow of the APA in 2012. He was the 2006 recipient of the national Maxwell J. Schleifer Award for Distinguished Service to Persons with Disabilities. His contributions to the field of ADHD include: The only currently available methodology for the fine-tuning of ADHD medications. The concept of Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria and its treatment with medications. The first non-behavioral theory of what ADHD is and how it can be treated successfully with an emphasis on what goes right rather than what goes wrong. In episode 148 of The Raising Capital Show, Nate Dodson sits down with Dave Dubeau to discuss how syndicators and fund managers use podcasting as a direct path to raising more capital. Instead of chasing downloads or trying to book celebrity guests, there is a smarter approach: design your show around your investor avatar, highlight them as guests, and use each episode as a stepping stone toward accredited investor meetings. Then repurpose the show's content for marketing outreach as an end-to-end marketing system. This is how to structure interviews to open up investment conversations, build your authority in the investment world, and repurpose podcast content into a full marketing system. Here are some real-world examples of syndicators who used this approach to secure investments and even connect with billion-dollar fund managers. Highlights: “Forget downloads. The real value is in interviewing your ideal investors directly.” “Podcasting becomes your relationship-building machine, not just another piece of media.” “With the right system, every episode creates trust, authority, and new opportunities for discovery calls.” Timestamps: (02:08) Why most podcasts fail to attract investors (05:27) Designing your show around the investor avatar (08:10) Structuring interviews that build trust and authority (11:05) Transitioning from interviews to discovery calls (13:50) Repurposing episodes into marketing content (17:20) Success stories from syndicators using this strategy (20:30) How podcasting becomes a top-to-bottom investor funnel

Products often tell you exactly how they're intended to be used. But why leave it at that? As a culture, we have long had a knack for finding ingenious, off-label uses for things. In this episode, we take a close look at a few examples of products that are ostensibly meant for one thing, but are better known for something else entirely. We explore Q-tips, which we are explicitly told not to put into our ears; the Hitachi Magic Wand, the iconic sex toy marketed as a body massager; the musical washboard; and the children's electrolyte solution Pedialyte that many adults swear by as a hangover cure. You'll hear from Hallie Lieberman, author of Buzz: A Stimulating History of the Sex Toy; Jacqui Barnett of the Columbus Washboard Company; Christopher Wilson, curator and chair of the Division of Home and Community Life at the Smithsonian; musician and educator Súle Greg Wilson; zydeco musicians C.J. Chenier and Steve Nash; Shaughnessy Bishop-Stall, author of Hungover: The Morning After and One Man's Quest for the Cure; as well as writers Roberto Ferdman, Dan Brooks, and Kaitlyn Tiffany.
