On this episode of The Jimmy Rex Show, Jimmy sits down with MLB All-Star Dexter Fowler — the Chicago Cubs leadoff catalyst from the historic 2016 World Series run. You'll hear dugout perspective on Jake Arrieta and Kyle Hendricks, the emotions behind Rajai Davis's homer, and why the Cubs played looser on the road.Dexter also shares how he landed in Chicago, what Joe Maddon told him that changed everything, and why the post-title roster couldn't stay together forever. Episode 160 of Rock Roulette has arrived! This time the wheel sent us straight into the fast lane with Motörhead's legendary Ace of Spades! A record built on speed, grit, and raw rock 'n' roll power. Crank it loud and ride with us through this classic!
What this episode coversWhy Spades matter: Their superpower is rigorous problem definition, research, and data synthesis—the foundation of smart strategy and R&D.High vs. Low Spades: Where each gets energy (inward reflection vs. outward sharing) and how that shows up at work.Common pitfalls: Analysis paralysis, undervaluing interpersonal dynamics, missing the big picture, and drifting into “know-it-all” or cynical territory under stress. How to spot a Spade: The questions they ask, the cues they give, and why silence from them does not equal disengagement.Communicating with Spades: Slow down, bring substance, allow thinking time, use email for reflection, and avoid interrupting their analysis.Maximizing Spade contributions: Enlist their expertise, set clear decision deadlines, recognize knowledge achievements, and “sell” with facts and features.Team design insight: Balance Spades with Diamonds (ideas), Clubs (execution), and Hearts (relationships) so decisions are both smart and adopted. Key TakeawaysDefine before you decide. Spades shine when the problem is ambiguous. Put them in front of fuzzy challenges and give them the mandate to clarify scope, criteria, and risks.Progress beats perfection. Pair the Spade mindset with a “build it, try it, fix it” cadence to prevent endless analysis.Respect the pace. Spades think deeply. Provide data in advance, ask pointed questions, and give time for considered responses.Reward with recognition that fits. Articles, patents, peer acknowledgment, and visible ownership of insights motivate Spades more than generic praise.Balance the system. Use Diamonds to broaden possibilities, Clubs to drive timelines and outcomes, and Hearts to energize adoption and stakeholder buy-in. Bottom LineSpades make innovation safer, smarter, and more strategic. Give them the right inputs, time, and recognition—and pair them with complementary styles—so your team can move from insight to impact.Resources

Our card this week is Lawrence Riegel, the 5 of Spades from Washington. When Lawrence was reported missing on January 10th, 2010, he didn't exactly vanish without a trace. Between mysterious phone records and strange theories from a recluse who lived in an isolated trailer park , police had a good idea what his last movements were and with whom he interreacted – and specifically, they honed in on two people who seemed very suspicious in the wake of his disappearance. But they need more than suspicions to make their case. And detectives are sure that someone out there knows what happened to the man they still call “Lost Larry.” If you know something about the disappearance of Lawrence Riegel, you can call the Yakima Police Department at 509-575-6200. If you want to leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers, you can call 1-800-222-8477.View source material and photos for this episode at: thedeckpodcast.com/lawrence-riegel Let us deal you in… follow The Deck on social media.Instagram: @thedeckpodcast | @audiochuckTwitter: @thedeckpodcast_ | @audiochuckFacebook: /TheDeckPodcast | /audiochuckllcTo support Season of Justice and learn more, please visit seasonofjustice.org.The Deck is hosted by Ashley Flowers. Andrea surprised me for our wedding anniversary by getting herself a Queen of Spades tattoo on her body. It was her way of telling me she was down for whatever special surprise might come our way. It was only a matter of time before she got accosted by a black gentleman at a bar who read her tattoo and couldn't help approach her. As for me, I was too happy to tag along for the ride as the three of us drove towards a beach for some special fun.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/shango-s-zone--3005964/support.
Hey hey BATT Family! GenCon 2025 is ONE WEEK AWAY! That means that it is perfect timing to get out the GenCon preview list. We recorded this list on July 9th when there were 499 games on the list. While another 70 or so were added since then, we're all still extremely happy with our lists and will still be looking for these games in particular. Scott, Jason, and Mark have all gathered to make sure that we're telling you about 30 different games that we are excited to check out and hopefully bring home from the con in one way or another. We hope that you enjoy this episode and you let us know what you're looking forward to on BlueSky or by emailing us at boardallthetimegaming@gmail.com. As a reminder, Mark and Jason will be teaching Vantage at the Stonemaier/MeepleSource booth at location 2909 this year and Scott will be demoing it in the play hall not too far away on Thursday and Friday mornings. Come say hi! --- This episode's segments: 00:00:00 - Intro 00:02:02 - Honorable Mentions 00:08:40 - List Selection Criteria 00:11:24 - Scott's 10 (Guild Lands) 00:12:29 - Jason's 10 (Tinco) 00:13:20 - Mark's 10 (Habemus Papam) 00:14:50 - Scott's 9 (Ace of Spades) 00:16:06 - Jason's 9 (Alibis) 00:16:47 - Mark's 9 (Escape from the Moon) 00:17:45 - Scott's 8 (Gibberers) 00:19:17 - Jason's 8 (Sprocketforge) 00:20:42 - Mark's 8 (Ofrenda) 00:22:10 - Scott's 7 (Mythical Dice) 00:23:19 - Jason's 7 (Zenith) 00:24:40 - Mark's 7 (Spooktacular) 00:26:22 - Scott's 6 (Solar Gardens) 00:27:52 - Jason's 6 (Unstoppable) 00:29:44 - Mark's 6 (Four Doors) 00:31:30 - Scott's 5 (Petiquette) 00:33:43 - Jason's 5 (Grand Central Skyport) 00:36:20 - Mark's 5 (Pillars of Heracles) 00:37:34 - Scott's 4 (Digit Code) 00:39:26 - Jason's 4 (Journey to Tir na Nog, Blessings and Burdens) 00:40:59 - Mark's 4 (12 Rivers) 00:42:53 - Scott's 3 (Temple Code) 00:44:47 - Jason's 3 (Pillars of Fate) 00:46:05 - Mark's 3 (How to Save a World) 00:48:15 - Scott's 2 (Kronologic: Cuzco 1450) 00:50:44 - Jason's 2 (Dark Quarter) 00:52:25 - Mark's 2 (Iliad) 00:54:30 - Scott's 1 (FlipToons) 00:58:00 - Jason's 1 (Vantage) 01:01:20 - Mark's 1 (Timber Town) 01:03:38 - Final Thoughts 01:05:39 - Outro --- Notes! 1) Mark failed to actually say the name of his number nine. The game being discussed is "Escape from the Moon". 2) Scott failed to correctly say the name of his number eight! We were on fire at this point, but in our defense it was almost 2am when we started recording all this! His number eight is actually Gibberers from Hobby Japan. 3) Mark has since played Zenith. IT'S SO, SO GOOD GUYS. 4) We've gotten some preview copies of Pillars of Fate and the other retail IV games that you'll be getting reviews of VERY SHORTLY. Mark likes Pillars A LOT. It's a good thing too, because he's gotta pick up the copy he already bought! --- You can email us at boardallthetimegaming@gmail.com. Once again, we are off to the races with preliminary auction clearance rates being spruiked to high heaven again over the weekend. Jeff Williams has been starting colts for big ranches for four decades. Some of those outfits have included the Beggs, Haythorn, King, Muleshoe and Spades. Williams started out as a cowboy on various West Texas ranches, but it didn't take long for him to discover that starting colts was his passion. He has continued to day-work on cow-calf operations, and he has competed in roping and ranch horse events. However, starting colts under saddle is his focus, and many ranches trust him to put a solid foundation on their youngsters and train select prospects for elite ranch production sales. The Post, Texas, horseman has also influenced countless young men and women who have worked for him, and he has judged at numerous ranch horse shows, ranch rodeos, and colt starting competitions such as Road to the Horse.
Our card this week is Roger "Unkle Rog" McCall, the 2 of Spades from New York. If you lived in the Rochester area back in the day, you might recognize the smooth voice of “Unkle Rog.” As a late-night radio host and DJ at WCMF for almost 30 years, perhaps he kept you company past midnight, maybe helped you stay awake during a third shift. By 52, Roger had already survived a terminal cancer diagnosis, only to be gunned down on December 12th, 2003, in what, at first, seemed to be a random act of violence. But a potential witness in the case has raised the possibility that his murder may've been more personal than previously assumed. If you have any information about the murder of Roger McCall on December 12th, 2003, detectives want to hear from you. Although we were asked to use pseudonyms for persons of interest in this episode, if any of the details or storylines sounded familiar to you, or if you can corroborate “Dan's” statement about what he said he saw that night, please reach out. You can remain anonymous by contacting Rochester Crime Stoppers at (585) 423-9300 or by submitting a tip online. To contact the Rochester PD's Major Crimes Unit directly, you can call them at (585) 428-7157 or email them at MajorCrimes@CityOfRochester.gov.View source material and photos for this episode at: thedeckpodcast.com/roger-unkle-rog-mccall Let us deal you in… follow The Deck on social media.Instagram: @thedeckpodcast | @audiochuckTwitter: @thedeckpodcast_ | @audiochuckFacebook: /TheDeckPodcast | /audiochuckllcTo support Season of Justice and learn more, please visit seasonofjustice.org.The Deck is hosted by Ashley Flowers. In 2021, we set out to cover the case of Rhys Pocan, a 35-year-old Indigenous woman who was murdered in Wisconsin in the ‘80s. But while we were in the field, we uncovered a disturbing pattern of murders with similarities to Rhys' that were just too blatant to ignore. So, we spent the next three years working with local and federal law enforcement to try and get to the bottom of it.Before you listen, make sure you've listened to WANTED: Justice for Rhys Pocan & MMIW Part 1!In Part 2, we look into cases of two other female dismemberment victims in Wisconsin with striking similarities to Rhys Pocan's. Rhys' own cousin Rae Tourtillot's remains were found just two years before Rhys' disappearance. And Julia Baez's remains were found buried in plastic bags the year after. But without a statewide task force, investigators are slow to put things together. If you have any information about any of the cases below, please contact Det. Nathan Hatch at the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office at 920-459-3135, or email him at nathan.hatch@sheboygancounty.com. You can also reach out to us at crimejunkie@audiochuck.com.
