Dead Groove began as a pandemic collaboration between drummer Fred Aching and bassist/vocalist Holly West has evolved into one of the scene's most promising acts. The band, completed by guitarist Cesar "Cags" Salaverry, brings together decades of professional experience, including West's current role with Zepparella, Salaverry with the Peruvian band Mauser, and Aching's performances with Kings of Thrash alongside David Ellefson, Powerflo and Bullet Boys. The successor to the band's acclaimed self-titled debut album, Rubicon represents a significant evolution in Dead Groove's musical journey. The album's title, referencing the historic point of no return, perfectly captures the band's commitment to pushing their sonic boundaries - Fred the band describe it as presenting “a more polished iteration of Dead Groove's signature sound while maintaining the raw energy fans have come to expect.” Their interpretation of Motörhead's "Ace of Spades" demonstrates Dead Groove's artistic vision. By deliberately slowing the tempo and incorporating their characteristic groove, the band has created a fresh interpretation that both honors the original and establishes their unique musical identity.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

Which card game is better: Uno or Spades? Comedian and podcast host Abe Gatling and comedian and writer Talib Babb square off in today’s debate. Abe touts Uno’s “unmatched inclusivity” as the main reason it’s the superior card game. Talib says what’s great about Spades is that if you have a deck of cards you can play it. Imagine chilling at home when suddenly, a drone hovers near your window. Creepy, right? This is exactly the situation Jack and Jill, neighbors of Robert Ory, found themselves in. After weeks of these unsettling flyovers, Jack believed the drone was spying on his attractive wife, Jill. While debating on action, they entertained hilarious suggestions from friends… Report it: Certainly a sensible route. Call the cops and establish a record. Perhaps not as immediately satisfying but practical…. Track it: Suggestions ranged from sticking an AirTag on it to following it with another drone. A techo-savvy and adventurous choice, but probably difficult to execute… Shoot it down: Armed with a pellet gun, this option involves strong action. But let's face it, this might lead to more trouble than it's worth. Could an NBA player or analyst transition seamlessly into the role of President? According to Stephen A. Smith, if he were to run, he'd win. But what about others in the NBA-verse? Some top contenders include Jalen Brown: Known for his intelligence, Brown might be the cerebral choice for leadership… Steph Curry: A popular candidate post-retirement, he could be the relatable leader we didn't know we needed… Ernie Johnson: Perhaps the most trustworthy voice in sports media, Johnson has a reputation that precedes him… While Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley, despite being beloved figures, might be too entertaining to shift from broadcast to the White House, they're sure to inspire some intriguing policies. You can't talk sports without mentioning movies. Who doesn't love a good sports movie? Here's a look at some of the all-time favorites discussed… Space Jam: A classic blend of animation and sports, it's a film that resonates across generations.. Remember the Titans: Often topping favorites lists, it's not just a sports film, but a moving story of unity… Waterboy: Adam Sandler's Bobby Boucher might not top serious lists, but his comical antics are hard to forget. To wrap up, let's not forget the joys of a good card game. While Uno and Blackjack may bring fun to family game nights, it's Spades that truly tests friendships and nerves alike. Though intimidating for newcomers, learning to play might just be worth the struggle. 00:00 Introduction and Welcome 00:25 The Drone Dilemma 05:33 Stephen A. Our card this week is Susan "Susie" Poupart, the 7 of Spades from Wisconsin. When 29-year-old Susie went to a house party on her reservation, surrounded by friends and so close to home, she should've been safe. But when the mother of two left the party in a car with some younger men, things took a turn for the worse. Susie never made it home, and six months later, her remains were found in a nearby forest. Spades was my beloved dog of 14 years and he has sadly left us. We dedicated this episode to him and talked all about his life, to celebrate the life of the best dog. From being a shelter puppy, to joining my family to then work with me and witness starting my own family, Spades was apart of this era in my life. His passing is the closing of one chapter in my story and I'm so happy he was able to share it with me. Thank you Spades for teaching me so much. We are honoured to share his story with you. Make the necessary preparations, we're talking Motörhead this week...Hilary and Cody try and hang on as they talk about the pure fuel that is Ace of Spades. Lemmy, Fast Eddie, and Philthy Phil were three dudes who knew exactly what they were after, and they pursued those things with great fervor. Ace of Spades is undiluted rock and roll made by a band who were unrepentantly themselves. Motörhead was a freight train, and you either hopped on board, got out of their way, or got run over. Our card this week is Joe Laughlin, the Jack of Spades from South Carolina.54-year-old Joe was a true “country guy", living a simple life in Anderson, South Carolina in 2012. He was a husband, father, provider, and handyman. It didn't take much to make him happy. All he needed in life was his family, his work shed, and an ice-cold beer. Why someone would want to gun him down inside his own home remains a mystery, even over a decade after his death. To this day, Joe's widow has never remarried. She's still living at their same little house, with Joe's picture hanging up on the wall, waiting for the day when justice will finally prevail. If you have any information about the murder of Joe Laughlin in Anderson, South Carolina in 2012, please call the Anderson County Sheriff's Office at 864-260-4400, or you can speak with Sergeant Kendall Cash directly at 864-209-0582. You can remain anonymous by calling Anderson Area Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC (274-6372), or submitting a tip online.
