Once he was there, he found himself at Ground Zero of two of the biggest controversies in NASCAR history. He was Richard Petty's co-crew chief during the infamous Charlotte race weekend in the fall of 1983, and he was Bobby Allison's pit boss when their DiGard Racing teammates Greg Sacks and Gary Nelson won at Daytona in the summer of 1985. Gary Nelson, cofounder of the Energy Conservatory, is an engineer who turned his attention to residential efficiency in the 1980's. He is often referred to as the father of the blower door, but did not invent the technology. He did, however, strive to make a blower door that was light, easy to use, accurate, and cheap. Gary's success fueled his vision to get a blower door into every contractor's hand as he felt that it brought building science to life for contractors and weatherization agencies specializing in efficiency, durability, and comfort in homes. Gary's success can be measured by the success of the Energy Conservatory, the company he says he accidentally created as more and more people asked him to build blower doors for them. However, success can be measured by so much more than the growth of a company. Gary was also instrumental in the creation of the duct blaster, and flow plate measuring tools, has contributed to the success of countless housing studies and programs, and has contributed to an industry and its understanding of the building science of air flow. CSA STAR Attestation is a collaboration between CSA and the AICPA to provide guidelines for CPAs to conduct SOC 2 engagements using criteria from the AICPA (Trust Service Principles,AT 101) and the CSA Cloud Controls Matrix.Requirements for the cloud can be quite different than non-cloud environments, so a generic approach to security compliance is not a viable solution for providing evidence of assurance in the cloud. Unique considerations must be given to:• Understanding the scope of the cloud computing environment.• Do the current security controls cover the unique aspects of the cloud environment?• Can the current risk assessment capture the risks correctly?• Audit trails that prove the effectivenessJoin me as I interview  two Principles from Schellman, Ryan Mackie and Gary Nelson as they take you on a journey down the road to Cloud Attestation and provide details of the audit,  advice on implementation and the value proposition.

Welcome back film fans! This is episode 98 of Not A Bomb, the podcast where we reexamine movies that flopped at the box office or were panned by the critics. On this week's show, Troy and Brad are once again joined by John Nance to discuss Walt Disney's first PG film - The Black Hole. What do you get when you mix Star Wars with a disaster film? You get one of the weirdest movies from the House of Mouse with an A+ cast and a D- script. You also get robots with googly eyes and the love child of Darth Vader and a Cylon (lots of sci-fi references in that sentence). The gang reminiscences about their favorite live-action Disney films, sleeping with your multiple-universe self, the art of matte paintings, and the lack of true science in most science fiction films.Timestamps Intro (01:00)Favorite Live Action Disney Films (6:17)Box office results and Critical Response (21:43)Behind the Camera (28:21)In Front of the Camera (32:29)The Black Hole Discussion (46:17)Is it a bomb: (105:01)Outro (114:09)The Black Hole is directed by Gary Nelson and stars Maximilian Schnell, Anthony Perkins, Robert Forster, Joseph Bottoms, Yvette Mimieux, Ernest Borgnine, Roddy McDowall, Slim Pickens, and Tom McLoughlin. I am thrilled to bring you this episode! I have known Dr. Nelson for a long time and have deep respect for his lifelong commitment to health equity. He has led Healthcare Georgia Foundation for nearly 20 years, overseeing many grantmaking initiatives including the Foundation's Two Georgia's initiative and Health Impact Investing. The Foundation is "Grounded in Science, built on Partnerships, and focused on Results.""Results matter to those we serve." Dr. Nelson argues that although the nonprofit sector is "woefully under-resourced, we can't afford to waste a dollar. Lives are at stake." The work is too important to rely on "feel good philanthropy." More than ever, the Foundation is focused on the social determinants of health and achieving health equity.  In this conversation, we talk about the work of the Foundation, but also funders' role in the pursuit of making communities more equitable. COVID has certainly shown a light on these inequities and Gary shares how the Foundation has pivoted their funding to meet the needs of communities during the pandemic. We also talk about the importance of evaluation and the what it takes for nonprofits and foundations to create a culture of learning. The Foundation has a long history of valuing evaluation and supporting evaluation capacity within the Foundation and among its grantees.Episode mentioned: Episode 1: Health Equity and Maternal and Child Health with Dr. Kyrah BrownContact: Healthcare Georgia FoundationJoin my Free Course to help you use your data and communicate outcomes!Dr. Nelson's BioGary D. Someone once said that “There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn't.”  It's a potent sentiment.  When I started this journey, I wanted to create something that resonates with every soul that should ever listen to my content. I have hoped that you can pull something from every visit and conversation.  I hope that trend continues today with this episode's special guest: Mental Health Counselor Gary Nelson!  When you endure life, it has a way at times of either making you feel buried underneath the struggles, or it allows you to transform both your perspective and your energy to something greater. Sometimes having a guiding and measured hand can help us traverse our darker days. This episode is truly incredible because I enjoyed speaking with Mental Health Counselor Gary Nelson! This brilliant and insightful brother, all the way from Jersey, stops by to chat about mental health, the struggles that African Americans endure when it comes to mental health, as well as the stigma from the media towards it! We even chat about the past and ways to overcome the trappings of anguish that sometimes shackles us from enjoying the present. As you know, our past can, at times, shackle us from walking towards our future. Given how important a topic this is, I wanted to get the perspective of someone who has diligently studied and practiced the ever-changing art and science of counseling to provide some insight. I'm so grateful to have so many supportive people like yourself who come back and still support me at the risk of repeating myself, and it truly means a lot to me. So I hope you enjoy this episode.Remember, this season is about taking charge, so i hope you enjoy the ride! I couldn't have done this without you all!  Enjoy the episode because there are lots of gems here that hopefully enrich your life. I hope you all continue to drive toward the horizon.
