For years, the murders of Rhonda Travers and Kathy Perry sat stagnant without any promise of justice, but when an informant surfaced with a story about a suspect who had never before been investigated, it changed everything.“There's always names that come up in every case,” Sgt. Pierce explained. “You know, look at this one, look at that one, whatever. There's always something, though, that just doesn't fit, you know? And these people get ruled out for whatever reason. They had alibis; they had this or what have you. In these two cases, once his name surfaced, everything fit, everything.”This is Part Two of a two-part series. In a nine-month span between 1986 and 1987, two women were found brutally slain in the same Rhode Island city. This is a special episode of Wrongful Conviction, featuring guests Delia D'Ambra, host of Audiochuck's CounterClock, and Frances Watson, President of the Indiana Innocence Project. In Lakeville, Indiana in 1989, Reverend Bob Pelley, his wife Dawn, and Bob’s step-daughters, Janel and Jolene were found shot to death in their home. Bob’s teenage son, Jeff Pelley, was a suspect due to ongoing tensions with his father, which were exacerbated by him restricting Jeff’s ability to attend prom night activities. Jeff claimed to have left home to pick up his girlfriend, but inconsistencies in his alibi and the timeline raised suspicions. Jeff was ultimately charged with the murders in 2002, over a decade after they took place, and convicted in 2006 based on circumstantial evidence. He was sentenced to 160 years in prison. Jeff Pelley has consistently maintained his innocence, and post-conviction litigation raised alternate theories, including alleged ties between Bob Pelley and organized crime from his past life in Florida, potentially involving his friends and the Hawley family who were implicated in various financial crimes. Testimony from a woman supported the theory that Bob might have been targeted for his past illegal financial activities. However, this evidence was deemed inadmissible, and Jeff's requests for a new trial have been repeatedly denied. Link / Link HOJE NO GIRO SOBRE PESSOAS QUE FAZEM A MÍDIA: 10 - ...As pessoas somos nós mesmos! In it, readers will learn how the murders of Christina Karlsen and her son Levi Karlsen, committed 17 years apart, are intricately connected. There's a hidden thread here, one that has not yet been revealed to the public, showing thatLevi kept dark secrets. This book exposes both sides of the twisted marriage between Karl and Cindy Karlsen as readers are taken through increasing levels of horror, step-by-step, into the depravity inside the killer's head. It's the story that only the killer knows. It's the story that only his second wife knows. It's a story that devolves into madness... And it's never been exposed...Until now.."Aphrodite Jones, The Author of Levi's Eyes graciously sat down with us to talk about her career and how she got started in true crime and how this book came about.
