The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: Drama continues in the TX19 GOP race for Congress with the Bowtie Bully, RINO County Judge Curtis Parrish, having infuriated most people, even some of his supporters, by unilaterally, without a court finding of fact, removing Precinct 2 County Commissioner Jason Corley from office solely based upon Bowtie's opinion of the resign-to-run statute. Corley, now a candidate for Congress in TX19, appears on the show to give us an update on his lawsuit, filed last night, and discuss the matter generally. Here is a good write-up: Corley's future on Commissioner's Court waits for judge to be assigned; other commissioners stunned he was replaced. For those who have never understood why many of us say Curtis Parrish has no business in a position of responsibility, this gives a glimpse into his super arrogance and viciousness that permeates about everything he does but is hard for outsiders to perceive. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.A rundown of who has filed in the GOP and Jackass parties for statewide offices; vacancies in the legislature, and; some local filings and comments.Listen on the radio, or station stream, at 5pm Central. The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: Texas Democrat Congressman Henry Cuellar of Laredo pardoned by President Trump. In this episode of The Open Door, panelists Thomas Storck, Andrew Sorokowski, and Christopher Zehnder interview Felix Corley on his book Catholicos and Commissar: The Armenian Church under the Soviet Regime (October29, 2025)Part of a two-volume set, this volume explores the history of the Armenian Apostolic Church under Soviet rule. Initially flourishing across the Russian Empire, the Church briefly enjoyed greater religious freedom after the February 1917 revolution. However, the Bolshevik regime imposed severe restrictions after October 1917: churches were seized, clergy were taxed and jailed, religious education was banned, and international ties were severed. By 1938, Stalin's purges had devastated the Church, culminating in the murder of Catholicos Khoren and the closure of almost all churches.Despite this, a partial revival occurred after World War II. In 1945, Stalin permitted the election of a new Church leader, Catholicos Gevorg, who supported Soviet territorial claims and repatriation efforts. Although minimal, the Church's presence in the South Caucasus and southern Russia was gradually restored. The book is based on extensive archival research, memoirs, and interviews, offering a vivid account of how the Church and its followers struggled to maintain faith under an oppressive regime.Volume 2 continues the history of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the Soviet Union, focusing on the leadership of Catholicos Vazgen I, who served from 1955 until 1994-the longest tenure of any religious leader in the USSR. Chosen by the KGB after a lack of suitable Soviet-based candidates, Vazgen publicly supported the Soviet regime but worked quietly to strengthen the Church's presence at home and abroad. The Church's seminary at Echmiadzin grew, and diaspora ties were cautiously encouraged, though most parishes remained isolated.Despite the appearance of normalcy, the Church operated under heavy restrictions. Major decisions were often made by the state, and KGB agents were placed among the clergy. The harsh anti-religious campaigns of the Khrushchev era forced the closure of many churches. After Khrushchev's fall, restrictions eased somewhat, but the Church remained passive, neither resisting nor expanding.Major change came under Gorbachev's reforms in the late 1980s. Long-suppressed Armenian national aspirations, especially around Nagorno-Karabakh, erupted, followed by the 1988 earthquake. The Church responded with new community efforts. Though initially cautious about independence, Catholicos Vazgen eventually played a key role in legitimising the new Armenian state and reaffirming the Church's place as its official religion.Like Volume One, this book draws from extensive archival research, memoirs, and interviews to tell the story of how the Armenian Church and its followers navigated Soviet repression and shifting political landscapes.

Two separate federal court rulings have struck legal and financial blows against Elon Musk and his business interests, raising questions about whether the world's richest man is losing leverage in the court system he's long relied on to defend his corporate strategies. On Monday, a judge in Delaware formally invalidated Musk's $56 billion Tesla compensation package, denying the company's request to move its incorporation to Texas. That same day, a federal judge in California ruled against Musk's attempt to dismiss a lawsuit accusing him of illegally firing employees at SpaceX who had circulated an internal letter criticizing his behavior. The Delaware decision directly affects the most valuable CEO pay package ever created. Judge Kathaleen McCormick denied Tesla's motion to transfer its incorporation from Delaware to Texas, which the company had hoped would retroactively affirm shareholder approval of Musk's compensation. She ruled that the original shareholder vote on Musk's 2018 pay package had not been fully informed due to undisclosed conflicts of interest among Tesla's board members.Tesla attempted to shift its corporate charter after McCormick voided the pay package in January, stating that Musk had undue influence over the supposedly independent directors who approved it. Monday's ruling now cements her earlier opinion, keeping Tesla under Delaware jurisdiction and invalidating the proposed Texas move.Tesla claimed that 77% of shareholders voted in favor of reincorporation to Texas. McCormick concluded that such votes did not repair the flawed process used to approve Musk's compensation. She emphasized that the Texas vote did not constitute a ratification of the original pay package because shareholders still lacked full information at the time.In California, Judge Maggie B. Corley rejected Musk's request to throw out a wrongful termination lawsuit filed by eight former SpaceX employees. These workers claim they were fired after distributing a letter calling Musk's online behavior damaging to the company's culture. Musk's lawyers argued that the letter itself disrupted SpaceX's mission and violated internal policies.Corley dismissed those arguments. She stated that the terminated employees had exercised protected rights under the National Labor Relations Act. She ruled that Musk's defense failed to show that the firings were lawful or that the internal letter disrupted business operations to a degree that would justify dismissal. The California ruling moves the case toward trial. It also affirms the position of the National Labor Relations Board, which has supported the fired workers' claims since 2022. If SpaceX loses at trial, the company could face orders to reinstate the employees or pay damages. The dual rulings came just hours apart. Neither involved criminal charges, but both potentially carry long-term consequences. Musk could lose tens of billions in stock options if the Tesla compensation package remains void. He also risks reputational harm and further scrutiny into labor practices at his companies. The Delaware ruling may increase shareholder pressure on Tesla's board to renegotiate Musk's compensation. Several investors have raised concerns about the pay package's scale and the influence Musk holds over board members. The board has not signaled plans for a revised compensation deal. The California decision draws attention to Musk's management style and public conduct, which critics say can alienate workers and investors. The internal letter cited examples of Musk's tweets and online behavior as distractions that conflicted with SpaceX's workplace values.Musk's legal team has not yet announced plans to appeal either ruling. Tesla has not released a statement following the Delaware court's decision, and SpaceX has declined to comment on the wrongful termination case.
How do you end up on the mission field, and of all places, Russia? “Well…it certainly wasn't my design.” Mike Corley describes his journey from Army basic training to various points in his ministry career (some he can't talk about), leading him to places and positions he never would have imagined. This episode of the Allyship in Action Podcast with Julie Kratz features Charlene Polite Corley, Nielsen's VP of Diverse Insights and Partnerships, and Stacie De Armas, Senior Vice President of Diverse Intelligence & Initiatives at Nielsen. Together we discuss the long-term value of diversity for businesses, emphasizing that engaging historically excluded consumers is crucial for growth and brand loyalty. Stacie and Charlene highlight that while people can be "trickier" than money, diversifying your workforce and your approach to consumers is as important as diversifying your financial portfolio. Some key takeaways from this conversation: Diversity is a significant driver of business growth and ROI: Engaging with historically excluded consumer groups is essential for long-term business growth as they represent untapped markets and offer greater potential for building brand loyalty and achieving higher returns on marketing investment. Understanding nuanced cultural and consumption habits is crucial for effective marketing: A "copy-paste" approach to marketing is ineffective. Brands need to develop a deeper understanding of the media consumption habits and cultural nuances of diverse audiences to connect authentically and build lasting relationships. Data shows, for example, that Black, Hispanic, and Asian audiences spend significantly more time online. Centering diverse narratives benefits everyone and creates broader cultural impact: Focusing on representing specific communities authentically in content and advertising doesn't exclude other groups. Instead, it provides "windows" into different experiences, enriching everyone's understanding and often leading to broader cultural trends and significant financial success, as seen in sports and film. Actionable Allyship Takeaway: Organizations and individuals should actively lean into fear and commit to an inclusive data strategy, continually seeking to understand and meet diverse consumers where they are, knowing that it's both the right thing to do and a smart business decision that drives growth and loyalty, regardless of external pressures. Jesus Lives Part 4: In EqualityBill CorleyOriginal Air Date: 2025.05.18When someone we love dies, we take great pains to keep their memory alive through pictures, how they impacted us and stories of things they accomplished. We also “see” them in the faces, personality and mannerisms of their children and grandchildren.Almost 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ, gave His life in exchange for ours – to take the penalty of death for our sin, so that we may live! For those who choose this gift of forgiveness and grace, they have become God's children and as His children live out their daily lives, we can “see” the personality and character of Jesus. The difference is that Christians don't simply keep His memory alive, He IS ALIVE... having conquered death, risen from the grave, ascending to heaven and sending the Holy Spirit to all believers to teach and guide so that they become the very image of Jesus! In this series, “Jesus Lives”, we will learn that Jesus is alive and active in every aspect of our life and world. We invite you to invite your friends and family to join us for this exciting journey!Regular Service Times are Saturday Evening at 5:30pm and Sunday Morning at 10:30 am. If you've ever wrestled with trusting God when the odds seem stacked against you, or wondered if He still speaks today — this episode will encourage you. Act 2 launches this Tuesday with a new mode called Court of Blades. It takes inspiration from Destiny 1 Court of Oryx. It has an augment system similar to what WoW had in Torghast. 5 new weapons are tied to this activity. Guardian games also launches with Act 2. Guardian games has a boss rush mode as an activity. Bungie had a developer stream last week going over Act 2, and gave information on new things coming in Act 3 which launches only 3 weeks after Act 2. Act 3 has a mode coming that is basically what LFR is in Wow but for Destiny 2 dungeons called explorer mode. It seems pretty cool, basically a matchmade activity with a lot of markers and tips in game on how to complete the dungeon. No organized guild activities, there are a handful of us still playing and getting together to run Nightfalls and dungeons. WoW In WoW news, the Liberation of Undermine Raid arrived, with lots of crazy mechanics and a big Vegas vibe. First boss Vexie and the Geargrinders make quite an entrance! You have been warned. Raid Team Kiddie Aggro cleared Normal (Good night, Gallywix) as well as Vexie on Heroic. Alliance Raid team Hell Froze Over downed five bosses on Normal - up to Sprocket-monger Lockenstock. Their progression Team, So Let's Go Skating - picks up right about now with The One-Armed Bandit. Noob Raid defeated two bosses - Vexie and the Cauldron of Carnage (aka Mecha Kong vs Fire Breathing T-Rex) and the weekly World Boss. Great job, Noob Raiders! There is one wing (three bosses) available in LFR for those with gear level 606. On Tuesday, the raid will be available on Story Mode for solo players. You don't get loot but can complete a quest for a nice crafting upgrade item. Delves in Season 2 award a new customizable mount: Delver's Gob-Trotter, and Bran can now tank,
