In today's Friday Field Notes, Ryan Michler shares a powerful message built around a simple but meaningful reminder: your dust, your rust, and your scars do NOT define you - they tell your story. After finding an old, rusted metal grid and working to restore it, Ryan reflects on how men often feel discarded, overlooked, or worn down by life. Through this analogy, he unpacks five key truths about identity, hardship, and resilience. If you've ever felt beat up by life, sidelined by circumstances, or dismissed by others, this episode will remind you of your worth and your purpose. In This Episode: Why your scars are proof that you've lived, not that you're broken How stagnation creates "rust" in your life How to wipe away habits, attitudes, and behaviors that no longer serve you Why rejection doesn't define your value How to turn your scars into stories that help others Five Lessons From This Episode: What clings to you is not who you are Rust only forms when you sit still You can wipe away what no longer serves you Your scars are your stories - your mess is your message Someone's trash is another person's treasure SHOW HIGHLIGHTS 00:00 – Introduction 00:27 – The Rusted Metal Grid Story 02:51 – Men Feeling Discarded 03:20 – Five Lessons About Dust and Rust 03:30 – #1 You Are Not Defined by What Clings to You 05:16 – #2 Rust Only Forms When You Sit Still 07:29 – Stop Wearing Other Men's Names 08:07 – Become the Man Who Leads 09:30 – #3 Wipe Away What No Longer Serves You 10:27 – #4 Your Scars Are Proof You've Lived 12:40 – Turning Scars Into Stories 13:50 – The Restored Rusty Truck Story 14:46 – #5 Someone's Trash Is Another's Treasure 16:04 – Being Valued at Home 17:19 – Recap of the Five Lessons 18:00 – Final Encouragement & Closing CTA Battle Planners: Pick yours up today! Episode 218 - The Pencil's Tale - Five Lessons Every Dad Should Share and Teach Their KidsThe story itself appears to be an anonymous parable, sometimes called "The Pencil Maker's Parable," but has been attributed to adaptors such as Jimmy Reed and featured in inspirational columns and children's teachings. Here is the tale:The Pencils Tale. Once upon a time, an old pencil maker took his newest pencil aside just before he was about to pack him into a box. Imagining the little fellow as a person, he recalled a few things about the pencil. There are five things you need to know, he said to his pencil, before I send you out into the world. Always remember these five things. Never forget them and you will become the best pencil you can be. The first thing is to remember that you will be able to do many great things, but only if you put yourself in someone else's hands. From time to time you will experience a painful sharpening, but remember that this will make you a better pencil. Also, keep in mind that you will be able to correct any mistakes you might make along the way. The most important part of you is what's on the inside. And remember this as well. Upon every surface that you are used, you must leave your mark. No matter what else happens, you must continue to write. It seemed the pencil listened to him and promised he would remember these five things, so that he could live his life with heart and purpose. You see in life, in your life, put yourself in someone else's hand. Embrace challenges for growth. Learn from mistakes, value inner qualities and leave a positive mark on the world. And you too can become the best pencil there is. This was the pencils taleApplying the Story to Dads and Families"The Pencil's Tale" offers simple, profound lessons that resonate for dads at every stage of parenting. By sharing this parable with children, fathers model the values of humility, resilience, and purpose. The pencil's journey provides a natural metaphor for growth, learning, and character—qualities every dad hopes to nurture in their kids.Key Lessons Dads Can Teach from the TaleAcceptance of Guidance: The pencil succeeds by allowing itself to be guided. Likewise, dads can teach children that everyone benefits from mentors, family, and friends. Being open to support leads to doing great things.Embracing Challenges and Growth: Like sharpening a pencil, life's difficulties shape us. Dads can explain that painful experiences (hard lessons, discipline, setbacks) help us grow stronger and better, no matter our age.Learning from Mistakes: Erasers let us fix errors, and so can honesty and forgiveness. Teaching kids that mistakes aren't final—and can be corrected—empowers them to try again and learn without fear.Valuing What's Inside: The most important part of a person (or pencil) is what's inside: character, kindness, and integrity. Dads can emphasize that inner qualities matter more than outside appearances.Leaving a Positive Mark: Everyone leaves a mark in the world—through actions, words, and kindness. Encouraging children to be intentional about the impact they make helps them live a life with purpose.By retelling this parable, dads foster meaningful conversations about values, resilience, and making a difference, while building trust and deeper bonds with their families.___https://dadspace.camusic provided by Blue Dot...

The oil and gas industry has invested heavily in new digital technologies, but too many efforts fall short in value delivery. However compelling digital initiatives may seem, they will assuredly flounder if workers are unable or unwilling to adopt them. The challenge lies in the way asset centric organizations tend to approach change. Leaders often seek rapid results that will contribute to current earnings, while frontline teams struggle with clunky processes and data silos ill-suited for AI, analytics, robotics, connected workers, and many other innovations. Rolling out new tools at scale without winning hearts and minds often leads to resistance, “pilot project hell,” and failed implementations. So how can energy companies unlock real value from digital transformation? What are the overlooked success factors that determine whether AI and digital deployments thrive or falter? In this episode, I'm joined by David Moore, a digital advisor and AI delivery lead, who reflects on the five critical lessons he wishes he had known earlier in his career. From the power of storytelling, to focusing on people before technology, to the need to start small and scale, to leveraging vendors as partners, and finally the hard truth that data is the real currency, David shares practical insights drawn from frontline experience. ⸻

Episode 100: What started as a passion project has turned into a full career pivot!Four years ago, I hit record on the first episode of my podcast.I had no big plans. Just one question I couldn't stop thinking about:How do we live a good life?So I started How to Live.Shared what I'd learned.Stayed curious.Kept listening. Then something magical happened.I got a message from my old BCG boss, Dean Tong.We hadn't spoken in 15 years. He'd stumbled upon the podcast. We met.Talked about Stoicism, Buddhism, and Purpose. Then he invited me to speak at UOB Bank, where he was the Chief HR Officer.I was nervous. It was a corporate setting.I had a meditation exercise planned. Would it land?Dean said:“Don't worry. I'll take the risk. Just do your best.”That support changed everything. The talk worked. It led to more sessions. More companies. And one day I realised - this wasn't a side project anymore. It was a new path.Keynotes. Workshops. Leadership Programs.Helping leaders reconnect with purpose, reach their next peak, and navigate uncertainty with resilience. It felt meaningful. And it could pay the bills. So I took the leap.Sold my digital agency. Went all in.Today, I've led over 75 workshops across four continents with companies like Google, Unilever, HSBC, and Mastercard. And I've seen how powerful ancient wisdom can be in modern leadership. The podcast has grown beyond my wildest dreams too. Ranked in the top 3% globally and listened to in 150 countries. The lesson? When you do what you love with honesty and passion, it's infectious.People are watching. People are listening, even if they never like or comment.(Dean didn't either.)But sometimes, just one of them can change the trajectory of your entire life.
What if reclaiming your sovereignty from generational trauma begins with walking through the labyrinth of your ancestors' pain and reclaiming your heart?I didn't remove my breast implants because of pain—I removed them because they were a symbol of something much deeper. For 20 years, I carried them as a way to survive, to conform, and to avoid the truth of my body and soul. But in April 2025, I walked into the center of my labyrinth and made the choice to make the final turn in the labyrinth that would take me back to my heart finally. We are back, Sovereign Sisters! And in this episode of the Sovereign Sisterhood Movement Podcast, I share the truth behind my breast implant removal surgery, and the five lessons I learned that led me to liberate my heart from an intense journey of generational healing. This was not just a physical transformation—it was an emotional and spiritual reclamation of my heart and my lineage. It was coming to the center of the labyrinth, a journey I started in 2015.In this episode, you'll hear about:Why I chose to remove my implants after 20 yearsHow much it cost, recovery, breast lift informationHow generational trauma shows up in the body and heartThe moment I released the weight of my ancestors' pain and came home to myselfThe impact of people-pleasing and spiritual bypassing on healing as you return pain back to others instead of carrying it for themHow Kundalini Yoga Therapy tools helped me heal on a deeper level and not take pain medsWhat true surrender looks like—and how it rewires your identityHow I returned the pain to its source and embraced my ancestral giftsThe difference between martyrdom and resurrection in Christ's teachingsThis journey was my labyrinth—one path leading me to the heart of my soul and the truth of my lineage. If you've ever felt like you're carrying more than your own pain or struggling to come home to your true self, this episode is for you.

In this deeply personal birthday episode of the Resilient Heart Podcast, host Gabi returns after a four-month hiatus to share the profound lessons she learned during her 45th year. After facing a debilitating neurological illness that brought her to dark places she never expected to experience, Gabi vulnerably shares how this season of struggle became a catalyst for tremendous growth, clarity, and unexpected opportunity. From establishing healthier boundaries to creating intentional stillness, recognizing safe spaces, and discovering her role as a stage-builder for others, this episode offers powerful insights about resilience, purpose, and the courage to shed what no longer serves us. Gabi's journey demonstrates that sometimes our greatest challenges prepare us for opportunities we couldn't have imagined. Gabi is the founder of Resilient Voice Media, a podcast production company, and host of the Resilient Heart Podcast. After navigating significant health challenges including a neurological illness that led to suicidal thoughts, Gabi has emerged with greater clarity about her purpose and mission. A passionate advocate for women healing from trauma, she has recently been granted a license to host TEDx Fredericksburg and is expanding her business to include a podcast studio in downtown Fredericksburg. Gabi combines her personal experiences with professional expertise to create spaces where others can share their stories and heal, firmly believing that vulnerability and resilience can coexist. Key Topics Discussed: Setting Boundaries: How illness revealed where boundaries were needed and the process of implementing them The Shedding Season: Learning to evaluate relationships and move chess pieces based on reciprocity and safety Creating Stillness: Practical strategies for managing social media and content consumption for better mental health Safe Spaces: The importance of identifying who truly deserves proximity to your story and vulnerabilities Purpose Beyond Self: Discovering that sometimes our greatest purpose is building stages for others to shine Personal Transformation: How crisis became catalyst for clarity and new opportunities (TEDx, studio space) Self-Acceptance: Finding the balance between embracing change and honoring personal preferences The Power of Storytelling: How sharing your authentic story can literally save lives Powerful Quotes from the Episode "My boundaries being put into place... did not sit well with some people, and I had to be okay with that. And you have to be okay with that. You can't just let people bust through your shit." "The shedding season is really figuring out who's worth the pouring. That's what it is. It's who is worth the pouring. Who deserves it. Who needs more space in my life." "As you evolve and grow, shedding has to happen because if you are not shedding and growing and shedding and growing, then you're going to get really stagnant." "I realized... people got real comfortable with the way that I was and overstepping boundaries that I didn't set properly. And that kind of sucks to figure out." "Who is going to give me grace? Who's going to be mean to me or rude or read me to filth because I didn't show up the way they anticipated that I would? Those people move." "Are you a topic of conversation when you get up from the table? Are you allowing yourself to be disrespected in the name of wanting to be loved, searching for love, looking for worthiness?" "Sometimes we think the word we choose or the path we choose or the thing that we think is the thing. Sometimes it's for others and it's not for us." "What if your story is the one that saved somebody's life and you're sitting on it? Because you're in your ego... That person doesn't get saved." We can't believe it's been 3 years now since we decided to go ALL IN on the podcast. Parts of the global Church have a very different kind of challenge on their hands than we do in the West: how to handle explosive growth. In many parts of Africa, the Church is running out of room in their seminaries, convents, and monasteries because of rising vocations, and the laity are collectively practicing their faith in ways that put the Church in the West to shame. In Nigeria, upwards of 94 percent of Catholics go to Mass every week while the U.S. can't even reach 30 percent in weekly mass attendance among Catholics. What explains this wide discrepancy? What are we in the West getting so wrong about evangelization, and what is the Church in Africa getting so right? We radiate the world that surrounds us by the intensity of our imagination and feeling. But in this third-dimensional world of ours time beats slowly. And so we do not always observe the relationship of the visible world to our inner nature. This is is the FIFTH lesson of Neville Goddard's Five Lessons In 1948 the modern mystic Neville Goddard presented a series of lessons in Los Angeles that many have come to regard as the teacher's clearest, most penetrating explanation of his methods of mental creativity. In them, Neville explains why your mental images and feelings determine your future. He provides his most direct, exquisitely clear method on how to explore the divine nature of your mind and use it to create the life you want. Preserving his words exactly as those original students heard them, the five lessons are:1. Consciousness Is the Only Reality2. Assumptions Harden into Fact3. Thinking Fourth-Dimensionally4. No One to Change but Self5. Remain Faithful to Your Idea The techniques in these lesson can profoundly change your life. These may be Neville at his very best in teaching how to use your imagination to create your reality.
