    Woes to the Pharisees

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 7, 2026

Woes To The Pharisees Austin Grimes When a respected religious leader invited Him to dine, Jesus did something shocking. He didn't wash His hands before eating, and when the man was astonished, Jesus cut straight to the heart of the matter. That Pharisee thought the problem was unwashed hands. But Jesus knew the real problem was an unclean heart. He looked at those clean cups and dishes on the table and said they were spotless on the outside while full of greed and wickedness on the inside. And then He made it personal. These religious leaders were meticulous about their offerings and their rules, but they neglected justice and the love of God. They loved the best seats in the synagogues, they loved the praise of men, but Jesus said they were like unmarked graves, spiritually dead and spreading death all around them.So what does this mean for you and me? Jesus is calling us to something better than managing our appearance or checking religious boxes. He wants alignment between what's inside and what's outside. He wants your whole heart, not just your good reputation. That means stopping the performance, stopping the selective obedience where we're careful about little things while ignoring where He's pressing on us. It means bringing both your public life and your secret life to Him in honest repentance, because He already sees inside that cup anyway. True faith produces real obedience, and Jesus promises that if you come to Him broken and believing, He will make you clean. Not just on the outside, but where it actually matters.

The Light of Jesus' Word Brandon Rodriguez Jesus is the light of the world, and His word is meant to guide us, not just to be admired from a distance. In this sermon, we explore what it truly means to receive and reflect that light. When we stand face to face with Christ, the question isn't whether His light is bright enough. The question is whether we're willing to receive it. Just as a lamp must be placed on a stand to illuminate those around it, so too must we be saturated with Christ's light so completely that it radiates outward through our actions, our choices, and our character. We cannot hide this light under a basket or keep it locked away. We are called to let it shine before the world so brightly that others see the goodness of God reflected in us.But there is a sobering warning here as well. We must guard this light with vigilance, for darkness can subtly corrupt our vision until we mistake falsehood for truth. Satan doesn't announce himself as the enemy but disguises himself as enlightenment. When we begin to reshape God's truth to fit our preferences, when we redefine Scripture instead of submitting to it, we risk becoming spiritually blind while believing ourselves enlightened. The challenge before us is clear: receive Christ's light, guard it fiercely against distortion, and reflect it so faithfully that a watching world cannot help but see Jesus in us. The darker the world becomes, the brighter God's people must shine.

True Wisdom | Baccalaureate Service Brandon Rodriguez Today we're diving into the wisdom that comes directly from God Almighty. As you step into new seasons of life, you'll hear plenty of voices offering advice, but I want to point you to the best counsel available, the wisdom of our holy God. In Proverbs, King Solomon, the wisest man to ever live, teaches us three essential principles for navigating life with true wisdom. First, we must trust in the Lord with all our hearts, not leaning on our own limited understanding. This means submitting completely to His ways, even when we can't see the full picture ahead. Second, we must acknowledge Him in all our ways, developing a genuine relationship with God and seeking His direction in every area of our lives, from our relationships to our careers to our deepest ambitions. Third, we must fear the Lord, placing Him at the very center of everything we do, recognizing His holiness and authority above all else. Now here's what the world won't tell you: Worldly wisdom focuses on success, comfort, and self-fulfillment, but it can't satisfy the deepest needs of our souls. Godly wisdom, on the other hand, seeks to glorify God and align us with His perfect plan. Throughout Scripture we see examples of people who trusted God without understanding the full plan, from Abraham leaving everything for an unknown land to Joseph persevering through betrayal and imprisonment to Mary saying yes to bearing the Messiah itself. But the most important truth is that Jesus Christ lived out this perfect wisdom completely. He trusted God fully, feared the Lord completely, and willingly went to the cross to save us. If you haven't yet surrendered your life to Jesus, I urge you to do that today, because true wisdom begins and ends with knowing Him as your Savior and Lord.

    Don't Miss the Greater Sign

Don't Miss the Greater Sign Brandon Rodriguez Have you ever been so focused on looking for something that you missed what was right in front of you? That's exactly what's happening in Luke 11 when Jesus addresses a crowd demanding signs to prove His identity. Jesus tells them they're a wicked generation seeking proof while rejecting the greatest evidence God could ever give. Just like the man drowning while refusing rescue boats and a helicopter, this crowd is missing the sign standing directly before them. Jesus is greater than Solomon, whose wisdom astounded the Queen of Sheba when she traveled across nations to witness it. Jesus is greater than Jonah, whose preaching moved even pagan Ninevites to repent. Yet here are the religious leaders of Israel, God's chosen people, demanding more while ignoring the fullness of God's revelation in Christ. The only sign this generation will receive is the sign of Jonah, pointing to Christ's death and resurrection. This generation doesn't need another sign. It needs repentance and faith in the crucified and risen Christ. God sent His only Son to bear our sins on the cross so that we might be saved. Jesus conquered death and set us free from sin. When you repent and believe, the Holy Spirit regenerates you, making you a new creation. You are no longer bound by your old self but transformed into the image of Christ. This is the radical transformation that changes everything. Whether you're here today still searching for proof, or you've already surrendered your life to Jesus and need to go deeper in your faith, the invitation is the same: repent and believe. Take up your cross daily and follow Him. The empty tomb is enough. The risen Christ is enough. Don't miss the greater sign while there is still time.

    The Greatest Blessing

The Greatest Blessing Brandon Rodriguez Today we celebrate motherhood as a beautiful calling from God, but I want to show you something even greater. While a mother's role in raising children in faith is profoundly important, Jesus reveals that there is a blessing available to every single person. When a woman in the crowd called out to Jesus saying "Blessed is the womb that bore you," He gently corrected her with these words: "Blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it." He wasn't dismissing the goodness of motherhood. Rather, He was pointing us toward the greatest blessing of all, one that transcends any single role or season of life. This blessing comes through hearing God's Word and actually living it out, keeping it, guarding it in our hearts day after day. That's where real blessing is found. Not in admiring Jesus from a distance, but in surrendering our lives to Him, in obeying His Word consistently and faithfully, even when it costs us something. Whether you're a parent training up the next generation, a single person serving the Lord, or someone in any walk of life, the same invitation stands for you. Will you hear God's Word and observe it? Will you deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Him? This is the calling available to all of us. This is the greatest blessing.

Dealing With Objections to Ministry Brandon Rodriguez When Christ's power moves in our lives, opposition inevitably follows. In Luke 11, Jesus demonstrates His authority over demonic forces by casting out a demon and restoring a man's ability to speak. Yet even as the crowds witness this miracle, religious leaders and skeptics attempt to discredit His work, claiming His power comes from Satan or demanding an impossible sign from heaven. But Jesus silences their illogical arguments with simple truth: a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand, and Satan would never empower someone to defeat his own forces. The finger of God is at work here, breaking Satan's hold and ushering in God's kingdom. If you follow Christ, you will face opposition to your ministry just as Jesus did. People will reject your gospel conversations, dismiss your prayers, and question your motives. But take heart: the same power that cast out demons lives in you through the Holy Spirit. Though Satan is strong, Jesus is infinitely stronger. He has already defeated the enemy and set us free. So go forward without fear, confident in Christ's power to transform hearts and lives. The kingdom of God withstands all opposition, and Jesus alone is the way, the truth, and the life.

Prayer as Worship: The Promise Chris Fernandez Are you wondering what true prayer really means? Jesus teaches us that prayer isn't about trying to get God's attention or earn His favor. Instead, it's about understanding that through Christ, you already have access to a Father who is eager to hear you, ready to give, and worthy of your continual dependence. In this sermon, we explore Luke 11 to discover that God is not a reluctant neighbor who must be convinced to help. He's a loving Father who invites you into an ongoing relationship of dependence where you can bring every need, every question, and every concern directly to Him. Prayer becomes an act of worship when we recognize who God truly is and respond with shameless persistence, knowing that He delights in His children asking. But what does God actually give when we ask? The answer may surprise you. Jesus reveals that the greatest gift our Father gives is not the temporary things we request, but the Holy Spirit Himself. As we learn to pray without ceasing, maintaining a constant posture of dependence on God, we discover that prayer is never a last resort but rather the daily rhythm of a child of God. This is the heart of worship; a life that continually turns to the Father in gratitude, recognizing that He alone is worthy of all our praise and that His grace, displayed through Christ's sacrifice, makes it all possible.

Prayer as Worship: The Method Brandon Rodriguez Jesus taught His disciples to pray, and that invitation extends to us today. Prayer is not a last resort or a religious ritual. It is a royal summons from the King of the universe, a divine invitation to enter His presence and commune with the Holy One. When we pray, we begin by addressing our Father, recognizing both His tender love and His sovereign authority over our lives. We lift high His name, hallowing the One who is completely set apart from sin, and we submit our desires to His kingdom purposes. This is where true prayer begins, not with our requests, but with worship.Yet Jesus also teaches us to bring our daily needs before God, trusting Him as the provider of our daily bread, and to confess our sins continually, knowing that He is faithful and just to forgive. We are called to forgive others as we have been forgiven, and to ask for deliverance from temptation, acknowledging our own weakness and our desperate need for His strength. True prayer is an act of worship that relies on God daily and seeks Him continually. So let us be a people marked by prayer, not a spiritual drought, but a vibrant, ongoing conversation with our Heavenly Father who loves us and reigns over all.

Listening to the Lord as Worship Brandon Rodriguez Have you ever been so caught up in doing good things that you missed the best thing? In Luke 10, we meet two sisters, Mary and Martha, and their story reveals a tension we all face. Martha welcomes Jesus into her home with great hospitality, bustling about with preparations to care for their guests. But while she serves, Mary sits at Jesus's feet, learning from Him. When Martha grows frustrated and complains about doing all the work alone, Jesus gently corrects her. He doesn't say that serving is bad, but He shows her that she has become so distracted by the good works that she has missed the greatest treasure; spending time with the Lord Himself. We can be so wrapped up in our busyness that we lose sight of what matters most.So here's the challenge for us today: Like Martha, many of us get caught in a cycle of trying to earn God's favor through our works, forgetting that we are saved by grace, not by what we do. We do good works because we are saved, not to be saved. Are you serving joyfully from a heart overflowing with His grace, or are you anxious and striving? Take time to sit at His feet. Read His Word. Pray. Let your worship involve both doing and dwelling with the Lord, and watch how your entire outlook transforms.

Easter Sunday 2026 Brandon Rodriguez Today we celebrate the most important truth in all of Christianity: Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the third day, conquering death and the grave once and for all. This is not just a story or a feeling that warms our hearts. This is a historical fact supported by eyewitness accounts, by the angel's proclamation, and by hundreds of people who saw the risen Christ. When those faithful women went to the tomb that morning expecting to find a body, they found an empty tomb and encountered angels who asked them why they sought the living one among the dead. He is risen. This resurrection changes absolutely everything about how we live, and if you have never placed your faith in Jesus, I encourage you to hear every reason why you should today.Following Jesus means we take up our cross and deny ourselves because His was not an easy life. He was scourged, beaten, and crucified. He paid a price we could never pay for our sins. Yet He did not stay dead. He rose on the third day, and now we have hope that transcends this world. The question is not whether the resurrection happened. The evidence is clear. The question is how will you respond to it. Will you be like the faithful women who received the news and immediately went to share it with others, or will you be blinded by the circumstances around you. Let your life be so radically changed by the resurrection that when people see you, they see something different, someone who has truly encountered the risen Christ.

Palm Sunday: A Different Kind of King

For centuries, God's people waited for a king to save them, but when He finally arrived, He came different than anyone expected. The crowds lined the streets shouting "Hosanna, save us," waving palm branches, anticipating a military conqueror who would overthrow Rome. But Jesus rode in on a donkey, fulfilling prophecy in a way that revealed something far greater than earthly victory. Just like the crowds misunderstood who Jesus was, we often try to reshape Him into the kind of king we want Him to be. Yet Jesus is a different kind of king altogether. His kingdom is not of this world but transcends everything this world has to offer, so why do we spend our energy worrying about temporal things when we serve the King of kings and Lord of lords? Here's the stunning truth about His kingdom. Jesus knew that within days, the same people shouting "Hosanna" would cry "crucify Him." He knew this. He walked into Jerusalem fully aware of the suffering awaiting Him, and He did it anyway. Why? Because that's how He saves us. Jesus won His victory not through conquest but through sacrifice. He emptied Himself, took the form of a servant, lived perfectly, and surrendered His own life on the cross as the Passover Lamb for our sins. This isn't just a nice story about Palm Sunday. This is your King. This is why you should pledge allegiance to Him and live differently knowing what He accomplished for you. If you're here today, Jesus is calling you to repent from your sin and believe in Him as your Savior and Lord so that you may be saved and spend eternity with God in paradise.

    The Good Samaritan

Jesus tells us in Luke 10 about a lawyer who wanted to justify himself by redefining who his neighbor actually is. But Christ uses the parable of the Good Samaritan to challenge everything we think we know about love and compassion. A man is beaten and left for dead on the road from Jerusalem to Jericho. A priest passes by. A Levite passes by. But a Samaritan, the very last person you would expect, stops and shows mercy. He bandages the man's wounds, gives him shelter, and promises to pay for his care. This parable shocks us because it teaches that everyone is our neighbor, regardless of who they are or what divides us. When Jesus asks which man proved to be a true neighbor, He answers with the one who showed mercy. Then He charges us to go and do the same.We often hide behind our rules, our comfort, our reasons why we cannot help. But Jesus calls us to a love that costs something, a compassion that transcends our differences. Whether it is someone of another race, political belief, or economic class, we are commanded to love them as ourselves. More importantly, we must share the greatest gift we have received. Jesus is the true neighbor who came into this world as a baby, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross to save us from an eternity separated from God. If you have not yet made Him your Lord and Savior, this is your moment to turn from your sin and believe in Him. Will you go and do the same?

    Who Is My Neighbor?

Who is my neighbor? This simple question has profound implications for how we follow God's command to love our neighbors as ourselves. If we redefine who counts as our neighbor, we can justify treating others however we please. The religious leaders of Jesus' time fell into this trap. They would say that Romans who oppressed them were not their neighbors, that Samaritans who worshiped differently were not their neighbors. But Jesus calls us to something far more radical. He teaches that our neighbors are all people, every image bearer of God, even those we consider our enemies. When Christ died on the cross, He died for us while we were still enemies with God, separated by our sin. If God showed such mercy to us in our broken condition, how can we withhold love and the good news of Jesus from those around us?So I challenge you right now to ask yourself the right question. Not who is my neighbor, but how can I be a good neighbor to others? If there is someone you have written off, someone you have not been considering your neighbor, I urge you to pray for them. Evangelize to them. The most loving thing you can do is share the gospel of Jesus Christ with them. Because Christ loved us unconditionally, we are called to love others the same way, regardless of how they have treated us or what we think of them. This is what it means to follow Jesus. This is what it means to be His disciple. Will you answer that call?

I want to talk with you about what brings Jesus joy. We all find joy in different things. Maybe it's our families, our work, the comforts of life. But here's what I'm asking you today: what gives Jesus joy? Because if our Lord and Savior finds joy in something, we should probably find joy in the same things. Today we're looking at Luke 10 where the 70 disciples return from ministry absolutely rejoicing. They've cast out demons in Jesus' name. Even Jesus himself rejoices greatly at what He's seeing. Satan is falling like lightning as souls are being won. But here's the thing Jesus reminds them of. Don't rejoice just in the power and miracles. Rejoice that your names are written in heaven. Rejoice in salvation. That's eternal. That's what matters.Jesus rejoices in reaching the lost. This is the only time Luke records Jesus rejoicing, and it happens when souls are being saved. The 70 went out, people came to know Jesus, and our Lord celebrated that moment. He celebrated it in the presence of the Holy Spirit and the Father. Generations of prophets and kings longed to see what you and I get to see right now. They longed to witness the Messiah saving lives. So as you walk out of here today, I want to ask you this: will you rejoice in what Jesus rejoices in? Will you go and share the good news so that others might experience that same eternal salvation? Because that's where true joy is found.

    Four Ways to Reach Others

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 1, 2026

Jesus teaches us that reaching others with His gospel begins with four essential practices drawn from His sending of the 70 disciples. First, we must pray deeply, beseeching the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers, recognizing that only the Holy Spirit saves and transforms hearts. We cannot be faithful followers of Christ if we are not at least stumbling evangelists, willing to share the good news with those around us. Second, we must go humbly into a world that will oppose us, understanding that we go as lambs among wolves but trusting in God's protection and purpose even when we face rejection. Third, we must pursue peacefully, bringing God's peace into our interactions and communities, avoiding strife while remaining faithful witnesses who do not compromise the message for comfort or gain. Finally, we must preach boldly, declaring the full truth of the gospel in love, not watering down the reality that all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. The good news is that Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, lived the perfect life we could never live, died on the cross to take our sins upon Himself, and rose on the third day to offer us salvation and eternal life in paradise. We dare not neglect to tell people they need Jesus, for the truth without love condemns, but love without truth deceives people into hell. As His representatives sent into the world, we carry the authority and message of Christ Himself, and those who receive us receive Him, while those who reject us reject Him and the Father who sent Him.

What do you need to sacrifice in your own life to follow Jesus? Because if you're going to truly follow Him, you have to be willing to let go of comfort, of convenience, of the good things that pull you away from His best. We see this played out in Luke 9 as three would-be followers approach Jesus, and every single one of them walks away unable to surrender what it costs to be His disciple. The first won't give up his comfort and security. The second can't put Jesus above his family obligations. The third hesitates, looking back at his past and what he's leaving behind. But here's the truth: whether it's the security we cling to, the responsibilities that feel urgent, or the past that haunts us, Jesus asks us to count the cost and follow Him anyway. He always knows what's best. What are you sacrificing for Christ? Are you too comfortable where you are, unwilling to grow? Are you letting good things block God's best plan for your life? Or are you looking back, held captive by shame and hesitation, when Jesus is calling you forward into a new life? Don't let anything keep you from Him. Lay it down at the foot of the cross. Forget what lies behind and reach forward to what lies ahead. Press toward the goal that God has set before you. Deny yourself, take up your cross daily, and follow Jesus. He is the only way, the truth, the life. There is no other path to the Father but through Him.

    The Wrong Kind of Zeal

When Jesus set His face toward Jerusalem, He knew rejection was coming, but His zeal was fixed on redemption, not retaliation. Even when the Samaritans turned away His disciples, He didn't call down fire to destroy them as James and John wanted. Instead, He reminded them that His mission was to save lives, not end them. Our passion can become dangerous when it's misdirected. We must ask ourselves where we're channeling our zeal. Are we seeking vengeance against those who oppose us, or are we pursuing God's mission to reach the lost with the gospel? What you need to understand is that you and I were once lost too. We've all fallen short of God's glory, and without His intervention through Jesus Christ, we would face the same destruction we want to call down on our enemies. That's why our zeal must be redirected toward sharing the truth of salvation, not toward condemning those who disagree with us politically, religiously, or culturally. Jesus didn't come to destroy. He came to save. He came to seek and save the lost, and that same mission is yours now.

    Guard Against Pride in Ministry

Pride is one of the most destructive forces in our spiritual lives, and it runs rampant even among those of us deeply committed to serving God. We see this played out in Luke 9 as Jesus teaches His disciples about true greatness. The disciples are so focused on themselves, arguing about which of them is greatest, completely missing the point that their very selection as Jesus' followers was an act of God's unmerited grace. Yet Jesus, who held all authority in heaven and earth, came humbly. He was born to a poor family, served others by washing their feet, and submitted Himself to death on a cross. If Christ Himself refused to grasp at pride despite having every right to it, how can we justify being prideful in our own accomplishments, our own groups, or our own zeal for ministry? We must guard against pride in three critical ways. First, we must not be prideful in our own greatness, remembering that everything we are comes from God's grace alone. Second, we must not be prideful in our groups or denominations, but instead focus on the unified mission of reaching a lost world for Christ. Third, we must check our zeal and passion, ensuring our motives align with Jesus' heart to seek and save the lost rather than condemn them. Like John, who transformed from wanting to call down fire on those who rejected Jesus to becoming the beloved disciple who wrote that God is love, we too can be radically changed by Christ. So I challenge you today to lay down your pride at the foot of the cross and focus only on what Christ has accomplished through His grace.

When the disciples tried to stop someone casting out demons simply because he wasn't part of their inner circle, Jesus rebuked them. His message is clear: The mission of Christ is greater than the petty divisions of man. We must stop creating tribes and start focusing on the transformative power of the gospel. The heart of Christianity is not about who is in or out, but about proclaiming Christ crucified. Our calling is to rejoice when the true gospel is preached, regardless of who delivers it. False teachers must be confronted, but those genuinely proclaiming Jesus should be celebrated. This world doesn't need our opinions or our tribal loyalties. It needs Jesus. In a world that often reduces human value to productivity or performance, Scripture declares a radical truth: your worth is not determined by what you do, but by who created you. From the moment of conception, each life is carefully crafted by a loving Creator who knows you completely. The pagan cultures around us may devalue human life, but God sees each person as a precious image bearer, fearfully and wonderfully made with a divine purpose. Our pro-life stance is not about political arguments or emotional stories, but about understanding the profound theological reality that life begins at conception. When we look at Scripture, we see God forming us in the womb, knowing our days before we take our first breath. This means every life - whether conceived in challenging circumstances, facing disabilities, or unexpected by human standards - has immeasurable value. Our response must be more than just holding a position. We must actively support and love those who are vulnerable, providing practical help to mothers, children, and families. Our faith demands that we put action behind our beliefs, showing the world that every life is a sacred gift from God.

When the disciples argued about who was the greatest, Jesus didn't rebuke them with a lecture but demonstrated greatness through a simple child. In God's economy, the least are actually the greatest. Humility is not weakness but the pathway to genuine spiritual power. The cross reveals that true greatness is not about what you accomplish but about who you serve. Jesus inverts our human understanding by showing that greatness comes through selfless love, radical humility, and putting others first. When we stop comparing ourselves to others and focus on Christ, we discover a transformative power that changes everything. He is hope personified, born in humble circumstances, living a perfect life, and sacrificing Himself to rescue us from sin. When the world tells you that you are beyond redemption, Christ says otherwise. He died to set you free, rose to conquer death, and offers you a hope that transcends your current struggles. This hope isn't just about a future promise but a present reality that can transform your life right here and now. Believe in Him, and you'll discover a hope that never disappoints.

Love is not a mere emotion or a fleeting feeling that the world tries to sell you. It's a profound, transformative reality rooted in the very character of God. In a culture that cheapens love to a temporary passion or a self-serving transaction, we must understand that true love is sacrificial, unconditional, and powerful enough to change lives. This is the love that God demonstrated when He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us while we were still sinners, still rebels against His divine plan. The world will know we are Christ's disciples not by our perfect programs or impressive performances, but by how we love one another. This love goes beyond mere sentiment. It's a love that serves humbly, forgives deeply, and extends grace even to those who have hurt us. When we embrace the agape love of Christ - a love that is patient, kind, and does not keep record of wrongs - we become living testimonies of God's transformative power. Our love for each other becomes the most powerful evangelistic tool, showing a broken world that there is a hope and a love far greater than anything they have ever experienced.

Joy is not a fleeting emotion tied to your circumstances, but a profound spiritual reality anchored in the person of Jesus Christ. In a world that constantly shifts and changes, where happiness can vanish in an instant, true joy remains unshakable. When the shepherds were working their ordinary night shift, God broke through their darkness with an extraordinary message of hope. This joy isn't dependent on your performance, your social status, or your current life situation. It's a gift freely given to those who are willing to receive it.The good news of the gospel is that God sees you right where you are. He doesn't wait for you to clean yourself up or become worthy. While you're in the middle of your struggles, working your daily routine, God is ready to interrupt your life with His presence. The birth of Jesus demonstrates that joy comes to the overlooked, the marginalized, and the broken. It's not a reward for the righteous, but a grace extended to sinners. When you anchor your hope in Christ, you discover a joy that cannot be stolen, a peace that surpasses understanding, and a love that transforms everything.

Jesus calls us to a discipleship that costs us everything but gives us more than we could ever gain on our own. If anyone would come after Him, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow. To deny yourself means surrendering the throne of your heart and giving up control. It means letting Christ rule where He belongs and choosing His will over your comfort. To take up your cross is to die daily to sin, to pride, to the pull of the world. It is to live each day in obedience and surrender, even when it hurts, even when it costs. Following Jesus is not about gaining the world but about gaining your soul. For what good is it to win everything and lose yourself?True discipleship is not a call to comfort but to surrender. It is the daily choice to live for Christ instead of for self, to let your life be a confession of who He is. The call to follow is not an invitation to religion but to a living relationship with the Savior who already paid the price. Salvation is free, but following Him will cost you your old life. Yet in that surrender, there is joy, there is purpose, there is eternal life. Christ conquered sin and death, and through His Spirit we have power to live for Him. So today I call you to come, to follow, to take up your cross and find in Him everything you were made for.

Jesus asked his disciples a question that still confronts every heart today; “Who do you say that I am?” Many in that time thought he was a prophet, a teacher, even a ghost of John the Baptist, but Peter declared the truth that changes everything. “You are the Christ of God.” In that confession lies the foundation of salvation, the hope of eternity, and the calling of every believer. We must know who Jesus truly is, not as the world imagines him, but as Scripture reveals him. He is the Son of God, the Savior who came to take away the sins of the world. This truth calls us to live differently. When we know who Jesus is, we find courage to face trials, compassion to love others, and faith to trust God's plan even when it leads through suffering. Jesus was not a political liberator or a temporary fix. He came to bring a spiritual revolution, to die and rise again so that we might live. So I ask you, as Jesus asked His followers, who do you say that He is? May our answer be firm and faithful. Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.

The crowd came for healing and for bread, but Jesus showed them something deeper. He showed them that He alone satisfies the hunger of the soul. Just as He looked to heaven, blessed, broke, and gave, so too does He give Himself for us, the Bread of Life who fills us with what no earthly thing can provide. When we look to this miracle, we see not just compassion for tired bodies, but divine provision for empty hearts. When the world rejects that message, it is not us they reject, but the One who sent us. Yet for those who receive it, there is life and hope eternal. The world may see that as foolish or weak, but it is in that message, preached with trembling and dependence on the Spirit, that true power is revealed. It is the gospel that changes hearts, not the skill of the preacher. It is the Spirit who convicts, transforms, and saves. So I say to you today, we do not trust in methods or gimmicks or persuasion. We are called not to ignore sin, but to confront it with humility, to remove the log in our own eye before addressing the speck in our brother's. True discernment comes from a heart transformed by Christ, not puffed up with pride.God calls us to examine the substance, character, and fruit of our judgment. What we fill our hearts with, whether pride or grace, will come pouring out when life presses us. So are we bearing the fruit of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control? Or are we bearing something bitter and self-righteous? We're not the judge, jury, or executioner. Only God is. And when we assume that role, we fall into the same trap as the Pharisees, thinking we're superior when we're actually blind to our own sin. Jesus calls us instead to show mercy, to forgive freely, and to be generous in grace. We must ask ourselves, what kind of guide are we?
