This week's special guest on 'Over The Line' was Fergus Farrell, a former Irish Youths and Galwegians player from Athenry, before a spinal cord injury in 2018 changed his life. He defied the devastating prognosis to walk again and now brings that same mindset to leaders and teams facing tough challenges. Fergus Farrell came into the studio to chat to Galway Bay FM's George McDonagh.

To celebrate Loughrea's Ciarán Fitzgerald entering the RTE Sport Hall of Fame on Saturday evening (20th December 2025), Galway Bay FM have opened the vault and delved back into the archives to pull out a special interview from April 2020. The two-time Triple Crown winning captain (1982 and 1985) was the special guest on Monday's 'Over The Line,' during our Legends series that took place during the COVID-19 pandemic. He chatted on the phone with Galway Bay FM's Gerry Murphy and George McDonagh.

Kiltormer brothers Aidan and Fergal Lenehan have come together to write a new book about Aidan's involvement with the formation of a hurling and camogie club in football-dominated north county Dublin. 'Grit and Glory: A Decade at the Club' tells the story of the Wild Geese hurling and camogie club and is a narrative of survival marked by humour, and also tragedy, in which a simple act of playing a game with your neighbours and friends, the immense meaning this can have and the sense of community it creates, takes centre stage. Two Aaron Molloy goals overturned the deficit as Maree-Oranmore beat Athenry 3-2 away; JJ Oifoh and Darragh Forde both struck twice in Moyne Villa's 8-2 victory over Corrib Celtic in Headford. Galway City Harriers' Emma Moore made history on Wednesday (17th December 2025) when she broke the Irish indoor under-23 800m record in the National Sports Arena in Dublin, clocking a time of 2'2.39". It also moved her to sixth on the all-time Irish senior indoor list, in a year where she also produced personal bests at 400m (55.41"), 600m (1'29.31") and with the 4*400m relay team at the European championships in Bergen (3'34.81"). After being hampered by injuries in recent years, she's back on track and competing in major championships with Los Angeles 2028 still the target. The first Ladies Gaelic Football Association Yearbook was launched by Dublin's TG4 All-Ireland winning captain Carla Rowe.at her home club Clann Mhuire CLG, in the Naul recently. This inaugural yearbook has been compiled by Galway journalist John Fallon of Media West (Ireland) on behalf of the LGFA and with outstanding photography from Sportsfile, charts all of the national competitions and events throughout another eventful and successful year for the organisation. On Hurling Chat this week... Niall and Sean focus on the role of the referee. Top referee Shane Hynes joins the lads to give an insight into being the man in the middle and how enjoyable it can be. Shane hurled with Liam Mellows for 17 years before moving to Oranmore, where he also hurled before getting involved in management for a period. The refereeing bug began in 2014, and since then Shane has handled All-Ireland Minor and U20 Finals as well as a host of County Finals. Galway senior ladies football captain Kate Geraghty was among a group of over 50 Gaelic Games players who recently travelled to Uganda as part of the 'Plant the Planet Games' initiative. Fourteen players from Galway were involved as they planted trees along the River Nile, visited schools in the local communities, and officially opened a new handball alley. The launch of the 2026 Tribesmen Head of the River took place on Wednesday, November 12th, in Electric nightclub, Galway. Galway Bay FM's John Mulligan was the MC for the glitzy event, which was attended by a large crowd representing all the rowing clubs in Galway, local business and political representatives, and members of the Tribesmen Rowing Club organising committee. The River Corrib played host to over 150 crews from Ireland, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and the USA competing in a 4.2km time trial along Galway's iconic waterway in the 2025 Tribesmen Head of the River (THOR) last March, with the event now firmly established as one of Europe's premier early-season rowing events. Next year will mark 50 years since the formation of the Tribesmen Rowing Club in 1976, so John Mulligan began his series of interviews by chatting to Tribesmen Club Chairman Colin Hanley...
