The Commander Rules Committee dropped a massive update this week by announcing the simultaneous banning of Golos, Tireless Pilgrim & unbanning of Worldfire. Our hosts discuss these developments & their implications in today's Demonstrate the Loop!
We have not one, but two bannings to talk about today: Hullbreacher for Commander, and Book of Exalted Deeds for Standard 2022. Today we go over & give our thoughts on the justification for these bans, and assess their impact on the respective formats. Do you agree with us? Got any points we didn't bring up? Oops! Got this one out a little late. But in our third and final of our Visions series, our hosts look forward into the year and take their best guesses at what they hope & fear will enter the format for each of the 5 colors in 2021. Do you agree with any of our guesses? Do you think we were way off-base? Let us know!
On this episode, Addam and I are joined by MTG aficionados Dan Shane and Steve Bilek to chat all about the Commander format of Magic: The Gathering. Hey folks! As the year winds down, we've started looking towards what 2021 might have in store for us. In this episode, we look deep within ourselves and try to figure out what we fear/hope the Commander format as a whole will bring us in the upcoming year. Are our predictions totally off-base? What are YOU predicting for EDH in 2021? Let us know!
Hey everyone! For the final episode in our series on welcoming new players to the format, we go over potential card inclusions that can help newer players make some important decisions and ease them into the higher-level gameplay decisions common to a game of commander; while not having to hamstring your own deck in the process. Are there cards that we missed? Are you running any cards more so for how they can help newer players than how they help you? Let us know!
Commander Legends is out! In this episode we go over our criticisms & favorite aspects of the set, talk about the role of set-attached Commander pre-constructed decks, and discuss some of the potential for White card advantage going forward in Commander. Do you agree with our takes? What are your favorite cards from this set? Let us know!

We've got an extra holiday treat for you! In the Halloween spirit, we all built spooky themed commander decks that we'd love to share with you (except for Drew, because he really didn't think his was all that good when going back to do the edit). We've got the deck lists to Josh & Daniel's linked below, so let us know what you think of our spooky brews! Josh's Gitrog's Grody Gang: (https://archidekt.com/decks/878826#Gitrog's_Grody_Gang) Daniel's SAW: (https://archidekt.com/decks/878839#SAW)
Hey everyone! This week, Daniel leads a discussion going into detail about how the highest-end mana rocks & ramp pieces should be reprinted until they are as inexpensive as possible, for the health of the format. And if that helps his Kangee, Aerie Keeper deck to hang at cEDH tables, then so be it.
In this episode, we do a breakdown of Daniel's Vial Smasher & Ludevic partner commander deck, featuring Obosh, the Preypiercer as a companion. In addition to the card inclusion breakdowns and discussions of strategy, we also go over what inspired Daniel to build the deck to begin with, and also discuss Daniel's experience with building a deck around the controversial companion mechanic. Have you built a deck around any of the companions? What has been your experience? Let us know! Daniel's Vial Smashser/Ludevic/Obosh deck list: https://archidekt.com/decks/666555#10_Hand_Obosh
In this episode, we do a full breakdown of Drew's Zirda/Zacama companion commander deck referenced in our very first episode. In addition to the typical card-by-card break downs, we also go over the deck building experience when building around a companion and what Drew believes is the strength of this approach. Have you built a deck around any of the companions? What has been your experience? Let us know! Drew's Zirda/Zacama deck list: https://archidekt.com/decks/667212#Zirda/Zacama_Companion_EDH
In our first episode of our podcast we talk about Commander Etiquette and what to do and not do in Commander. How to be a good sport, good player, and what we think to do or act to overall have fun. This is our first podcast so we apologize if we sound a bit off since we are getting used to the new equipment! A few spicy words are said so I will issue a language warning. Thanks!

Hey, Hey! We’re back in action with a special guest this week! Join us in welcoming Robert to the fold! Robert is a good friend of Teej’s, and he’s with us filling in for Junior, who’s currently on hiatus with a case of The Marriage. As Ben gets ready to marry the designer of our logo, Katie, Robert was kind enough to fill in and play games with us! This week we’re playing Magic Commander Anthology 2, the most recent release of the Commander Anthology series. The Anthology series take some of the most powerful preconstructed decks that Wizards of the Coast has released as previous entries in the Commander series and puts them together in a boxed set. The stock Commanders, which we are playing with right out of the box, include Daretti, Scrap Savant, Atraxa, Preator’s Voice, The Mimeoplasm, and Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas. This week in beers we’ve got Teej going thematic with Magic Dragon Double IPA from Hop Haus, Robert goes harder with Mike’s Harder Lemonade, Schnell goes dark with Night Rain Porter from O’so, and Nelson takes one for the team and drinks leftover Coors Light from Junior’s bachelor party. Stay tuned to see if he survives, or if he’s felled by The Silver Bullet. I mean, the mountains weren’t even blue yet…
On This Episode:A brief look at the Capcom E-Sports presentation leak. A deep dive into the Magic: the Gathering Commander 2017 decks; which tribe is the best?
Tonight we are down a Thalen because storms cause power outages. Among the topics discussed is the new Destiny 2 expansion called Warmind. Belghast has spent a significant amount of time with it and has things to say. From there Tam goes into his experiences with Battletech and why maybe being absolutely completely true to pen and paper sometimes has issues. Ash talks about Pillars of Eternity 2… and how he has yet to actually play it but has spent a lot of time digging around in the JSON code. Finally we wrap things up with a discussion of Magic the Gathering Commander… and how to build a deck designed not to win but instead to do interesting things and subvert the flow of the game. Topics Discussed: Destiny 2: Warmind Battletech Pillars of Eternity 2 Magic the Gathering - Commander
Vampires, cats, dragons, and wizards, oh my! This week we’re back with another episode of our favorite CCG, Magic: The Gathering. We have a ton of fun playing Commander format Magic when we all get together, so we thought it would be fun to showcase the latest precon decks in the Commander series, Commander 17. Commander 17 focused on tribal decks, so each of these decks fit that theme. The new Eminence ability was also introduced, which allows for these commanders to start manipulating the battlefield before they even make it there. Teej is playing Draconic Domination, which is obviously dragon-themed. Schnell and his cats are running Feline Ferocity. Junior rolls with the patriarch of the Markov clan, Edgar Markov, and plays Vampiric Bloodlust. Nelson seeks to use wizards and countermagic to run everyone’s day, so he’s playing Arcane Wizardry. In order to show off how these decks play directly out of the box, everyone is playing a completely un-modified version of each deck. This week in beer Teej steps up his game as he’s recovering from a nasty cold and goes with Maibock from Capital Brewing, Schnell channels his inner Ronald McDonald and drinks Ocular Pat-Down from Odd Side Ales, Junior throws a jab at Teej’s deck and drinks Magic Dragon Double IPA from Hop Haus Brewing Company, and Nelson aims to make his opponents suffer as he drinks Tears of My Enemies from Ale Asylum.
