Swedish musical sensation Gunhild Carling is an internationally acclaimed superstar whose show is a can't-miss event! Whether she's singing favorite swinging jazz standards, playing one of many 11 instruments (trumpet, trombone, harmonica, oboe, harp, flute, recorder, or jazz bagpipe!) or juggling and tap dancing, Gunhild is not only the consummate show-woman, in Jazz terms she's definitely “The real deal.”    She performed with her 'Carling Big Band' at the Royal Palace in Stockholm in the celebration for King Carl XVI Gustaf's Ruby Jubilee, and has performed at the iconic Birdland in New York multiple times, the most recent being January of 2024.   Noted Jazz journalist Scott Yanow said, “Gunhild Carling has always been quite a character. Scott first became aware of her wide range of talents on Instagram and YouTube, and was immediately struck by her ability to go from one instrument to the next (often in the same song) with flawless technical execution and excellent improvisation, even though trombone is her favorite to play. At age seven, Gunhild began to perform live with her family band, that spans three generations, that she now leads. Gunhild Carling is a Swedish jazz musician, singer, and songwriter. A multi-talented musician, Carling can play several different musical instruments, including the trombone, trumpet, harmonica, ukelele, banjo, and guitar. She sings and dances. Carling was born in Gothenburg, Sweden on May 7, 1975. She is the daughter of Hans Carling and Aina Carling, both accomplished jazz musicians. Besides her parents and herself, Gunhild Carling's siblings are all accomplished musicians. Carling and her family perform around the world as The Carling Big Band, with Gunhild headlining the group. In addition to playing jazz music at their shows, they perform acrobatic stunts and other talents. Carling also guest performs with orchestras and choirs around the world on her own. Musiker, sångerska Gunhild Carling bjöd P1-lyssnarna på ett musikaliskt äventyr när hon spelade och jazzade i sitt Sommarprogram. Hon berättade också om en nervös konsert i inför 10.000 åskådare i New York: - Bandet verkade gripna av stundens magi. Det var helt klart. För dom gick på som om vi var  Count Basie på Savoy Ballroom ’37, de öste så att hela scentaket höll på att sprängas. Trombonerna tjöt och saxofonerna vrålade och trummorna dundrade. Och nu började också publiken att bli totalt gripen av jazzmusikens vilda vansinne. Vi lassade på med  swingriff, djungeltrummor och jag minns att jag bara stod och öste på en ton i trumpeten i vilda riff. Konserten blev en succé och ett minne för livet.
