Radio Iowa's Kay Henderson and Semafor's Shelby Talcott talk about how the Supreme Court could shape the 2024 race with a ruling on presidential immunity and whether Colorado can exclude former President Donald Trump from the ballot. And, the recent death of a 5-year-old in a Chicago migrant shelter is highlighting a serious and growing crisis in the city. Chicago Sun-Times reporter Michael Loria joins us. Then, new federal money aims to install solar panels on 40,000 low-income households in Puerto Rico. Since Hurricane Maria devastated the island's power grid in 2017, many people who can afford it have switched to solar seeking more reliable electricity. David Ortiz, Puerto Rico program director for Solar United Neighbors, talks about the work his group has been doing.
Puerto Rico's 100% renewable energy target is attainable, according to a new study by the Department of Energy. But the island's residents are nervous that a new contract with natural gas company New Fortress Energy will jeopardize chances of reaching that goal. New Fortress Energy will take over the island's power plants system, and residents – who are already wary of more privatization of the power system – worry the company isn't committed to greening its grid. POLITICO's Gloria Gonzalez breaks down how Puerto Rico's power privatization deal casts a shadow over its renewable energy goals. Plus, the Biden administration advanced the proposed ConocoPhillips Willow oil project in Alaska. Josh Siegel is an energy reporter for POLITICO. Gloria Gonzalez is the Deputy Energy Editor at POLITICO Pro. Nirmal Mulaikal is a POLITICO audio host-producer. Raghu Manavalan is a senior editor for POLITICO audio. When Matthew Fernandez Konigsberg isn't working his day job as an in-house attorney at a large international law firm, he's actively working within the Puerto Rican and Jewish communities, fighting for the rights of Puerto Ricans and against antisemitism. Over his storied career, which included years as a special counsel for ethics, risk and compliance in the New York State Governor's Office, he's held a number of leadership and educator roles within the Jewish and Latino communities, aiming to bridge the divide and support both minority populations in and around New York. But he still has big dreams. Among the biggest: creating a Birthright-style trip for Puerto Ricans living in the diaspora. Inspired by what Israel has done for young Jews around the world, he envisions a program that would give Puerto Ricans in New York and elsewhere, who've never had the chance to visit their homeland, an opportunity to travel, connect with locals and get engaged with the community. Hopefully, that could galvanize political movement among young Puerto Ricans, who could fight for the decolonization of the island. Credits Rivkush is hosted by Rivka Campbell. Michael Fraiman is the editor and prodcer. Our theme music is by Westside Gravy. We're a member of The CJN Podcast Network; find more great Jewish podcasts at thecjn.ca.

Reformation ABCs: The People, Places, and Things of the Reformation―from A to Z $15.29 By Stephen J. Nichols The Spark of the Reformation 500 years ago on October 31st 1517, Martin Luther nailed 95 theses to a church door in Wittenberg Germany. The Reformation is quite remarkable and shows the amazing complex web God weaved to bring necessary reformation to the church. Ad Fontes It starts with this movement among Renaissance Humanists to "go back to the source" of their reasoning and thought. Protestant Reformers also returned to the Bible as the primary source of their faith. Erasmus and Luther Erasmus - Roman Catholic who translated the New Testament to Greek (to be more accurate than the Latin Vulgate. His work exposed Scriptures that were being taught incorrectly. He wanted reform in the Catholic church but moral reform. Luther - Martin Luther was a monk who started to read the Greek translation of the Bible and his heart was lit on fire for the Word of God. He saw that salvation was by faith alone and that the Roman Catholic Church was teaching a works based, paid based salvation. He wanted reform - for the Pope and the counsels to submit to the authority of God's Word. He nailed 95 theses to the church door in Wittenberg. Eventually he was excommunicated from the Catholic Church. Four Blessings of the Reformation There are SO many more, but here are four: That we have a Bible in our our language! Scripture is self-authenticating - because Scripture are God’s Words - we can be certain it’s true The Church isn’t the authority on what people need to know, or the authority on who has salvation - the Bible is the Authority and God is the grace giver The great exchange: Jesus takes our sins, we take on His righteousness - justification by faith alone hat salvation by faith alone is being preached without fear or threat of being burned at the stake.
