With David Smoak, Paul Catalina & Craig Smoak Former Baylor QB and two-time Big 12 champ Bryce Petty joins the show to talk about what it means to be inducted into the Baylor Athletics Hall of Fame. He reflects on how Baylor's football culture shifted during his era, how Art Briles' offensive philosophy changed the game, and why he sees leadership qualities in current QB Sawyer Robertson. Petty also gives insight into the evolution of offensive line play, how college football has changed since his time, and why he's still proudly green and gold—even if some of his former teammates now coach at TCU. The Madd Hatta is back on the air Monday through Friday from 2pm-7pm on Majic 102.1 in Houston and the Majic 102.1 audience taps in on the various subjects of the day and the "Dilemma" you missed this time was about a social media posts that went viral. You never know if these viral moments are real but this one dealt with a couple that had separated and the ex moved in next door/right behind his former partner. Is this the ultimate Petty Freddie story or he's doing what he has to do to see his kids or a romantic gesture? Listen and let me know.
Greater Greater Washington's Dan Reed joins the team to talk about the RFK stadium deal that looks just about done, the quest to build more housing in the inner suburbs, and an extremely petty neighbors' quarrel that went viral. Plus, in a members-only fourth topic, we're talking about the Trump inspired burst of potential renamings in the DMV. Want some more DC news? We're back with another episode, and this one's extra special because we're celebrating our anniversary!
✝️ Petty sins. Sacred nonsense. Divine dumbness. Scripture says, “The meek shall inherit the earth.” But what about the petty? This week's episode is holy, hilarious, and downright criminal. Trevin kicks things off with a revelation—after witnessing some Facebook drama with record-breaking engagement, he believes he's unlocked the future of marketing. His plea? If you're about to start an online feud, plug the podcast while you're at it. #BlessedAndBoosted Amanda's Dreadful Dilemma involves planning her next murder mystery party. She opened the floor to a vote between two themes—‘80s and Freak Show—but it ended in a tie. She's accepting divine intervention or your input. In Two Truths and a Lie, Amanda confesses to two criminal acts—leaving one unclaimed. Has she ever: Publicly urinated? Called a cop a pussy? Or had an attractive mugshot? Trevin takes a turn with Barbie-themed trivia, inspired by the movie. Is it true that: Barbie's yellow lab Tiffany was discontinued after tragedy? Barbie was based on a pornographic doll? Barbie once came with a diet book titled Don't Eat? Then, for story time:
There's a weight to the arrangement of this song, accentuated by that heavy kick pattern that Steve Ferrone opts for, along with Tom's deliberate persistence in landing on the root note at the end of his phrases that makes this one compelling. It's also noteworthy in not really having a defined chorus. We do have that A section and B section, but I wouldn't necessarily call it a chorus, then you have a very short bridge at the end so you have an ABABAC structure that just adds to the unresolved tension and unease that pervades this little hidden gem of a song.Song : https://youtu.be/x49C_T102iMDon't forget to follow me on social media, like, subscribe, and please, leave a rating if you like the show.Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thetompettyprojectBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/tompettyproject.bsky.socialInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetompettyprojectYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thetompettyprojectThreads: https://www.threads.net/@thetompettyprojectAll music, including the theme song, provided by my very best friend Randy Woods. Sun Tzu was a Chinese general, military strategist, writer, and philosopher who lived in the Eastern Zhou period of ancient China. Sun Tzu stresses the importance of knowing one's own strengths and weaknesses, as well as those of the enemy, to gain a strategic advantage. Avoiding Unnecessary Conflict: A core principle is to avoid battle whenever possible, seeking to subdue the enemy through diplomacy or other means before resorting to direct confrontation. • Psychological Warfare: Involves manipulating the enemy's perception and actions, not engaging in personal attacks or pettiness. 22-year-old William McNeil Jr. was pulled over by the Jacksonville County Sheriff's Office. No headlights in the rain, no seatbelt. Petty offenses escalated as McNeil began refusing commands and demanding a supervisor. Race-baiting opportunist civil rights attorney is ready to chase this ambulance, releasing footage without context that suggests cops overreacted, breaking the window and throwing McNeil to the ground for a beating. The main stream media is ready to buy the narrative-- former cops Eric Tansey and Cameron Santana are joined by Kelli Brink to talk the truth that cop haters and agenda-driven media don't want you to know. AfroDruids is more than a movement or some weird revolution; it is about evolution. What if you could be part of a community where everyone looks forward to the next day as another opportunity to learn something new, to create something that benefits the entire community and advances society as a whole? AfroDruids, or Crypto_Divas and Crypto_Diva_ds, are a collective of weirdos and we are about our money. We have a very low tolerance for willful obtuseness. You can't ride with us if increasing your knowledge through new experiences isn't something that interests you. Life is about change. Most experiences can change you, hopefully for the better. If you are ok with never leaving in the confines of your physical community or even to traverse past the boundaries of your county; if experiencing other people other places other foods is not appealing to you, you can't be with us. And once you become a part of the community and instead of working to make the community succesfful you opt to be a thief and breaking the law, you can't roll with us either. We look at peace as simply enjoying our lives, whether it be swimming and listening to music, whether it is creating music, whether it is creating our personalized videos, whether it's writing a book, writing a screenplay, creating our art when we can do those things undisturbed that's what we strive for. Prosperity brings of peace. Parable of Talents, Octavia Butler's post-apocalyptic world of the United States, where the President is a felon and his minions roll around in armored trucks which are called 'maggots' using the shield of religion to justify their criminality to make 'America Great Again' while destroying it. It's another pit stop into the rich history of NASCAR racing this week, with a look back at the circuit's greatest rivalry — the legendary driving battle between Richard Petty and David Pearson that shaped the sport forever. With the help of veteran motorsports journalist Mike Hembree's new book, "Petty vs. Pearson: The Rivalry That Shaped NASCAR," we explore how these two titans transformed racing from a regional spectacle into an American sports passion during the late 1960s and the bulk of the 1970s. Discover the contrasting styles that made their frequent track duels electric: "The King's" relentless aggression versus "The Silver Fox's" calculated patience. We'll revisit their most jaw-dropping moments, including the wild finish at the 1976 Daytona 500 where both drivers crashed on the final lap, and examine how their incredible 63 head-to-head 1st/2nd-place finishes created the stuff of true NASCAR legend. Learn how Petty's record-breaking 200 wins and seven championships stacked up against Pearson's incredible 18.3% winning percentage in just 574 starts. And, beyond the statistics, we explore Petty's and Pearson's mutual respect for each other and the friendship that transcended their fierce competition on the track — a rivalry that elevated NASCAR during its most transformative, increasingly televised era. It's often been remarked that Mike sometimes sounds like Tom when he sings. If you listen to the Dirty Knobs albums you do hear some of those inflections peeking out from time to time, as you'd expect. But this goes both ways and I think Tom actually sounds a lot like Mike on About to Give Out - particularly in the verses. If you heard this on a Dirty Knobs record I don't think you'd immediately catch that it was Tom and not Mike.
