When people hear the word Hypnosis, they often think about someone being made to run around on a stage clucking like a chicken, barking like a dog or doing something extremely embarrassing for the sake of entertainment. The truth about hypnosis and hypnotherapy when used in service for transformation and healing, is not even anything close to that. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we're talking about hypnosis and how I recently became a Certified Hypnotist. You'll hear how I'm wicked excited to be bringing brain science, subconscious reprogramming and Spiritual Mentoring together in my work, because it kinda' feels like having a super power! Join me as we break down some of the myths and facts surrounding hypnosis and also talk about some of the most frequently asked questions that people have about this healing modality. We also dive into how hypnosis can be a transformational tool for someone who is ready to create deeper subconscious changes and more supportive beliefs. Keep in mind, when it comes to training the brain, creating new neural networks and shifting the mind from fear to Love (using both hypnosis & spiritual mentoring) - consistency and commitment are a crucial, non-negotiable key! If you want to use hypnosis to release old patterns of thinking, rewrite old stories, reprogram your subconscious mind and rewire your brain to create new empowering habits, then there's just no half-assing it. Personally, I want to use hypnosis to “de-hypnotize” people, so that they can release and remove the old BS (beliefs, stories, blocks & bullshit) that they've been told or continue to tell about themselves. I want to help people create new positive ways of thinking and find freedom from unwanted behaviors (or whatever is holding them back), so they can transform from the inside out. I want to give them, through this offering of Spiritual Hypno-Mentoring, the opportunity to rewrite and rewire their brains with the glory of who they really are and are truly capable of being.. So you can transform Your Story to Your Glory! This work is a journey from fear back to Love and Hypnosis is another way for me to share and extend that Love to more people all over the world. This is about hypnosis misconceptions that have come up. I’m going to get into a little bit about some questions that I’ve been given lately in regards to hypnosis and give you a little bit more information on how hypnosis works. In this episode, I answer these questions I went to a hypnosis stage show and they couldn’t put me under. Besides, I don’t want to cluck like a chicken. I can’t visualize anything. I have no imagination. How am I going to be hypnotized? I have strong willpower so how am I gonna be hypnotized? My friend went to a hypnotist And she went so deep and when I went, I didn’t. Is hypnosis safe? And does it really work? I also discuss what the pre-talk is and how it can alleviate concerns. Can I really be hypnotized? The answer is yes, except for a few exceptions. Hypnosis is actually a natural state of being. You move in and out of it all day long and in most of your life, you have been hypnotized. Your habits, beliefs, and thinking have been created by a form of hypnosis. Hypnosis is a relaxed state where you are susceptible to suggestions given to you and your subconscious mind. This is natural and it happens all the time. Your subconscious mind filters all of the things going on in your life. It determines what is important and what can be let go. In this episode, I discuss the characteristics of a person who can be hypnotized and those who can't. About 30% of the population is highly susceptible, which means they can be hypnotized easily. Now, even if you mildly hypnotizeable, you can still respond to hypnosis. We can hypnotize people with only a light trance.Let me make this very clear. Hypnosis is not about losing control, on the contrary, it is about taking control of your thinking mind so that changes can take place…naturally. Hi, its Steve Woods, the Hypnotist here with this sixth and last video about Hypnosis Myths. In celebration of World Hypnotism Day on the 4th January. If you are watching this through my Podcast or YouTube channel make sure you subscribe to see the rest of these videos over the next few days. I should mention as well that usually these are audio only podcasts, so if thats your thing, normal service will resume after these videos. So todays short video is entitled….. I wont remember anything about the Hypnosis Session. This topic comes up a lot in conversations and is linked to the thought of controlling someone. My own feeling is that this comes from Stage Hypnosis as they stage hypnotist is trained to finish their show with a 'and you wont remember anything about what you have been doing tonight' as they send people back to their friends in the audience. The reason for this is that it keeps the show going as they absolutely deny doing any of the things that their friends are now telling them they did, as a result there is much laughter for quite some after the official show has finished. A much greater impact on the audience. And this temporary loss of the experience is quite real but it does come back within a few hours. Its a great example of the power of Hypnosis but for most of the audience they see the all powerful Hypnotist as being able to erase their memory after controlling them to do what they want. When I first speak to a potential client I go through awareness and if they have not already asked I will make sure they KNOW they will remember the experience fully. Again, its down to beliefs and I want to make sure they are fully aware of how the experience will be for them before we start. There will be parts of a hypnotherapy session you dont remember exactly. Just like having any conversation, and as Hypnosis is a quite an automatic change process the mind does not always think its important to remember every detail anyway. Thats why I also make sure that during my 'wake up' part of the session, there I go again talking about waking up, that I say something along the lines of 'you will remember this experience just as you would remember having any conversation today' I hope you have enjoyed this quick video about a myth around Hypnosis. This is the last video in the short series. The Podcast will go back to more audio only after this but still the odd video from time to time. Remember to subscribe to the Podcast and YouTube as there will be some free self hypnosis sessions on here in the future. Thanks for watching.

Hi, its Steve Woods, the Hypnotist here with this fifth video about Hypnosis Myths. I cant be Hypnotised because my mind is too active. This is often said to me. And it usually includes 'someone has told me I cant be Hypnotised because my mind is too active' and quite often this goes hand in hand with anxiety as an anxious person will often have a very active and busy mind. In my own experience I find that people with active minds go into Hypnosis quite quickly and quite deeply with the correct approach. This can sometimes be just a busy 'induction' into the Hypnosis to keep the busy mind. busy and let me speak to the subconscious quite early in the process. So where does this idea come from? I know some of the training I looked at early on would talk about not bothering with people with a busy mind as they are just too hard work and there are easier clients to work with. I think as well that as we think of relaxation and calm as part of the Hypnosis experience this also does not always seem to match with someone who has that busy mind. My own belief is that anyone can be hypnotised, some take longer than others and some might need a different approach and that person also has to want to go into Hypnosis as there is nothing to stop someone resisting and refusing to be Hypnotised. I hope you have enjoyed this quick video about a myth around Hypnosis. Join me tomorrow for the next myth and remember to subscribe to the podcast or youtube channel wherever you are watching this.

Hi, its Steve Woods, the Hypnotist here with this fourth video about Hypnosis Myths. Hypnosis is sleep. Hypnosis isnt sleep but its not helped by the fact that we use terms like "wake up" and "wide awake" when bringing someone out of Hypnosis. I have thought about this and have not come up with a different way of saying things, because I do want my clients to feel wide awake and energised at the end of the Hypnosis session. For me Hypnosis is a high focus and I like to spend time running through this before working with someone. Remember, its all about beliefs and I will spend time explaining they will not be asleep and will be aware of their surroundings. Of course there are times when people start to nod and drift into light sleep during Hypnosis. For some its the first time they have relaxed in a long time and whilst Hypnosis does not have to be relaxing, its what most people expect and its good for us. So, if I have someone I am working with and they keep nodding I will bring them out of Hypnosis from time to time, or make the session more interactive where they are providing feedback in some way to me about the changes they are making, or it has been known for me to get someone to move to a less comfortable chair or even do the work standing up. My own belief is that if someone is just on the edge of sleep their subconscious is still listening and will still get some benefit from what we are doing BUT I actually want them at a level where they can really focus on and feel the changes they are making so certainly not asleep. And I will always want you to feel energised and wide awake at the end of some Hypnosis with me. I hope you have enjoyed this quick video about a myth around Hypnosis. Hi, its Steve Woods, the Hypnotist here with this third video about Hypnosis Myths. I might get 'stuck' in Hypnosis The simple answer this is no you cant…… But maybe it needs a bit more than just that? A good few years ago I was asked if I would do demonstrations at a Mind, Body and Spirit event as they had to stop using the services of a previous Hypnotist. When I asked why they told me it was because he got someone 'stuck' in Hypnosis. I was fascinated by this and it turned out the particular Hypnotherapist was always worried about his clients getting stuck in Hypnosis and even talked about it to them before he worked with someone. Not his fault, it was how he was trained. As a result he actually planted the idea in his clients minds and if both parties believe in something then its quite possible to make it a reality. As a client, you expect the therapist to know the best way to look after you. Belief is really important. I believe that Hypnosis is not fragile. Ive had people in pain who cannot sit still for long so I break up the session for them to move around. I have even worked with clients standing up because thats what worked for them. Back to getting stuck…… Its not the same as being stuck, but I have had clients who enjoy the Hypnosis experience so much that they dont want to emerge from it. It is a calm and relaxing experience and I am the same when I do my own self Hypnosis, it would be wonderful to stay there for longer but I also know I will feel refreshed and energised and ready to get on with things afterwards. So no, you cant get stuck, but it is nice to stay there as long as you can before that energising 'wake up'. The term 'wake up' is interesting and implies sleep. I will talk about that tomorrow. I hope you have enjoyed this quick video about a myth around Hypnosis. Join me tomorrow for the next myth and remember to subscribe to the podcast or youtube channel wherever you are watching this.

Hi, its Steve Woods, the Hypnotist here with this second video about Hypnosis Myths. Can the Hypnotist control me? This is very similar to yesterdays myth and I did consider not covering this as a topic on its own but in the end decided to. When we watch a stage hypnosis show it often gives the impression that the Hypnotist is controlling everyone and to some degree they are. If I have 10 people all busy on stage, all hypnotisded, believe me, I need to be in control of every aspect of whats happening. But….. and you knew there would be a but otherwise it wouldnt be a myth….. all those people on stage want to be there, they want to entertain and they are good hypnosis subjects because I have gone through a process to select them. Not one of them is doing anything that they dont want to do, they volunteered to be selected. Its probably better to think that I am directing things rather than controlling. There could be something I ask one of them to do that crosses a line with them and I will see instantly that they dont want to do that and I will change things, most of the time the audience does not even see this. In the therapy environment the word enable comes up again. I am not controlling someone, I am enabling them to find the change and make it happen. If for some reason they dont want the change then we are wasting each others time. If there is a block holding them back then we find it and enable them to shift it. When you are hypnotised deeply, you are still aware, you can still hear the traffic outside or noises from another room. Your mind still knows your own morals and beliefs and you do remember everything after the session. The Hypnotist will direct you to find the change you are there for, or to release the entertainer in you and to have fun. Mind control? No, enabling change and directing you to get there? Yes I hope you have enjoyed this quick video about a myth around Hypnosis. Join me tomorrow for the next myth and remember to subscribe to the podcast or youtube channel wherever you are watching this.
