As Rabbi Steve Berkson concludes this teaching series, he begins with Joel 2:12, where we see Elohim giving His people instruction on how to return to Him. As Rabbi Berkson points out, Yahweh expects those returning to Him to be serious about repairing the breach in the relationship. • What is tearing your garments? Why does Elohim want a tearing of the heart instead? • What does Elohim do to get your attention so that you return to the path? In Jeremiah 32:37-42, Yahweh says that as much as He brought evil to His people for their turning away from Him, He will bring just as much good to those who return. • When Elohim says, “I shall give them one heart…”, is He just going to hand out new hearts to everybody? • Ephesians chapter 2 talks to us about the opportunity given to us to become what? Moving to Isaiah 1:16-20, Rabbi Berkson points out that with a holistic understanding of Scripture, it's not possible to get the message that Elohim just gives us everything. He also points out that the Scriptures can be used by many to draw erroneous conclusions. • What is a ‘holistic' approach to the Scriptures? • How could someone prove from Scripture that their chicken was the Messiah? • What is evil? How does Yahweh define evil? • When Elohim says, “Come let us reason together…” (Isaiah 1:18), does that mean Yahweh wants your input? In a monarchy, the royal crown is passed down from parent to child. It's not a position the child earns by merit; it's passed down to them by birthright. But in today's message, Pastor Jeff reminds you that salvation isn't something that is passed down like a birthright. The Israelites did inherit the blessings that God gave to Abraham, but that did not buy them access to God's throne room. They had a front-row seat to what God was doing in this world, but each person has to choose to follow God for themselves.

Some promises come with an expiration date. A coupon is usually only good for a few months, a check is typically void after 90 days, and a job offer needs to be signed and returned in order for you to start your new role. Now, there are many Jews today who haven't yet accepted the gift of Jesus, even though He meets all of the Bible's prophecies surrounding the Messiah. However, Pastor Jeff teaches you today that the Israelites still have time to recognize Jesus as Lord. But their time is running short!

Continuing from the last episode, Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us from Ezekiel chapter 18 to chapter 33. In the first part of the chapter, Yahweh appoints the prophet Ezekiel as a “watchman” who warns the people of that time about the judgment coming upon them. Every day we wake up and hear the latest news about what's going on in the middle east, and to say it's a volatile part of the world id a huger understatement. Israel and the missile east has always been a hotbed of tension and violence, but it sure seems to be worse than ever these days. Pastor Lloyd is going to take another look at the God's promises to protect His chosen people, as we again look at Romans nine through eleven.

The nation of Israel is in the headlines in the year 2026, much as it has been in since it became a nation again in 1948. Have you ever wondered why a tiny nation like Israel can survive al these years being surrounded by enemies whose stated goal is to wipe Israel off the map? Pastor Lloyd will have some facts to share with us today as we look at God's Promises to Israel. Our scripture text is Romans chapters nine through eleven.

Taking us to Jeremiah 29:12, Rabbi Steve Berkson points out Yahweh's pattern of behavior toward His people. When He needs to correct covenant behavior, He starts with small, subtle nudges and then uses more severe measures to get our attention. If He determines that we are not listening or responding, we will be turned loose to “play with the pigs” and, hopefully, come to ourselves and return to Him and the Covenant. • What's the first thing one should do when returning to Yahweh? • What is “hedging an apology”? • What does it mean not to seek Yahweh with all your heart? In Isaiah 55:6, two things are mentioned – seeking Yahweh while He can still be found and calling on Him while He is near. • What causes Him not to be near? What separates you from Him and creates distance? • Why do we not fully understand and accept His ways? • What are 3 things that will forever be in the Kingdom of Elohim? From there, Rabbi Berkson takes us to Lamentations chapters 3 and 5, where we see the formula for a prayer of repentance. • Have you ever been contrary to the Covenant out of rebellion? • What does “renew our days as of old” mean? Then we hop back to Jeremiah 6:8-17, where we see that the Torah is much more than just “The Law”; it is for our instruction. Yahweh wants us to be ‘instructed' by Him. • How can our ears be “uncircumcised”? • Why does Yahweh want to see us walk out His instructions? • What is “greedy for gain”? This teaching series is based on the tradition of “Shabbat Shuva,” or the “Shabbat of Return,” which falls between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur (the Day of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement). The text for this tradition is Hoshea (Hosea) chapter 14, which begins, “O Yisra'el, return to Yahweh your Elohim…” After having gone through the Spring Feasts – Passover, Unleavened Bread, and Shavuot, which are types and shadows of the Hebrews' exodus from Egypt and journey to Mt. Sinai, have you maintained a faithful, straight walk in Torah? Or have you gotten “off the path” a little or a lot? Do you sense a call to return to the path, to Yahweh? • What is meant by “crookedness”? What does crookedness cause you to do? • Regarding the call to return – return to what? From there, Rabbi Berkson takes us into Leviticus 26 to examine the reasons for returning to the Covenant. In Leviticus chapter 26, the blessings and curses associated with Yahweh's Covenant with His people are listed. • How will you be able to walk in Covenant with the Creator? From Leviticus, we go to Deuteronomy 4:25, where we see that Yahweh has an issue with His people and their idol worship. How can we relate to them today regarding ‘idol worship'? Rabbi Berkson then takes us to Deuteronomy chapter 30 to show us one of Moses' final exhortations to the people as they are about to cross over into the Promised Land. Interestingly, Yahweh, through Moses, told the people that in their future they would stray from the path they were supposed to walk and be taken from the Land by their enemies, but as they were living in a foreign land, their hearts would turn back to Yahweh, and they would return once again to possess and live in their Promised Land. • In this chapter, we see the phrase, “circumcise your heart” – what does that mean? Isn’t that just a “New Testament” concept? What is it doing left of Matthew? And then we are taken to Romans chapter 10, where Rabbi Berkson points out that the apostle Paul is clearly writing about Torah observance and, indeed, substitutes the word ‘Messiah' for the word ‘Torah' as he quotes Moses in Deuteronomy chapter 30. • What does Romans 10:4 really mean? • What is “the righteousness of belief”? • What is “the good news of the good”? • Was there “Good News” before the New Testament? Pastor Blaine continues his teaching on Israel and the Church by answering questions about who Israel is, how God's promises apply today, and what the Kingdom of God means. He explains that while salvation is available only through faith in Jesus Christ, God remains faithful to His promises and still has a future plan for Israel. Blaine points to Jesus as the fulfillment of God's redemptive plan, reminding believers that Christ came first as a suffering Savior and will return again as a conquering King. Throughout the sermon, he encourages Christians to build their beliefs on Scripture rather than politics, share the gospel with all people, and live faithfully in light of Christ's return.      

Pastor Blaine taught on the relationship between Romans 9–11, Israel, and the Church, encouraging Christians to let the Bible shape their views instead of politics or internet opinions. He explained that God chose Israel in the Old Testament to be the people through whom the world would come to know Him, but many rejected Jesus when He came as the Messiah. Because of that, the gospel spread to the Gentiles through the Church, though God still remains faithful to His promises and is not finished with Israel. Blaine emphasized that salvation has always come through faith in Christ alone, not through ethnicity, heritage, or religious works. Throughout the sermon, he called Christians to humility, love, and careful Bible study, warning against arrogance, hatred toward Jews, and building beliefs from social media instead of Scripture.
