What if the stars were never meant to tell you your future? In this episode, Joel explores the mysterious Biblical concept of the Mazzaroth—the Hebrew zodiac mentioned in the Book of Job—and examines whether the constellations were originally intended to declare God's plan of redemption rather than serve as tools of divination. From Genesis and Enoch to Psalm 19 and Revelation, we follow an ancient celestial narrative that many believe was corrupted after Babel and transformed into modern astrology.Along the way, we investigate the Watchers' connection to astrology in the Book of Enoch, the Biblical condemnation of divination, the twelve tribes of Israel, the twelve signs of the Mazzaroth, and the controversial "Gospel in the Stars" theory. Are the heavens simply beautiful creations of God, or do they contain a message that has been hidden in plain sight since the beginning?Merchandise: https://freetherabbits.myshopify.comBuy Me A Coffee: DonateFollow: Website | Instagram | X | FacebookWatch: YouTube | RumbleMusic: YouTube | Spotify | Apple Music Films: https://merkelfilms.com Email: freetherabbitspodcast@gmail.comDistributed by: merkel.mediaIntro Music:Joel Thomas – Free The RabbitsYouTube | Spotify | Apple MusicOutro Music:Joel Thomas – GreyYouTube | Spotify | Apple MusicTopics Discussed:Mazzaroth, Biblical Zodiac, Job 38:32, Gospel in the Stars, Psalm 19, Genesis 3:15, The Seed of the Woman, The Lion of Judah, Twelve Tribes of Israel, Twelve Signs of the Zodiac, Hebrew Constellations, Astronomy vs Astrology, Astrology in the Bible, Divination, Isaiah 47, Deuteronomy 18, Jeremiah 10, 1 Enoch Chapter 8, Watchers, Fallen Angels, Tower of Babel, Ancient Mesopotamia, Orion, Pleiades, Arcturus, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Sacred Geometry, Merkaba, Tetrahedron, Celestial Signs, Biblical Cosmology, End Times Prophecy, Revelation, Psalm 8, Psalm 97, Numbers 24, The Star of Jacob, Ancient Astronomy, Joseph Seiss, E.W. In this study we will take a look at the women within the Bible. We will look at each one of them and see how their story influences our lives today. As we continue our study in this fantastic insight of the Women of the Bible, this morning we will take a look at Rachel and LeahThe last recorded words of Rebekah are sad ones. She begged Jacob to flee to her brother Laban until Esau's anger should turn away, and promised that which she could never perform: "Then will I send, and fetch thee from thence." (Gen. 27:45) Afterwards she said to her husband: "I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what good should my life do me?" (Gen. 27:46) "They that wait upon Yahweh shall renew their strength" (Isa. 40:31), but they that lean to their own resources grow weary.Jacob left home, and on his journey he had the wondrous vision of the Messiah as Yahweh's ladder, connecting heaven and earth, and so became REALLY ACQUAINTED WITH HIS ELOHIM/CREATOR.It was love at first sight for Rachel and Jacob, but there was no 'happy ever after' for them. The younger daughter of Laban and the wife of Jacob, Rachel is the mother of Joseph and Benjamin, who become two of the twelve tribes of Israel (Gen 35:24; 46:15–18). She spends much of her married life attempting to bear children for Jacob and eventually uses her maid Bilhah as a surrogate, but Rachel still craves biological children. She and her sister Leah, also Jacob's wife, conspire so they both may have children with him, leading to the birth of Rachel's son Joseph. Soon after, Rachel dies giving birth to her second son; her early death makes her an image of tragic womanhood. After the biblical period, “Mother Rachel” continued to be celebrated as a powerful intercessor for the people of Israel. Rachel found it difficult to conceive, and Jacob's other wives, though less loved, were more fertile; they had ten sons. Rachel bore Joseph, but died in childbirth when her second son Benjamin was born. These sons were the forefathers of the Twelve Tribes of Israel. Names in the Bible often say something about the person:Rachel means 'ewe', a female sheep, a symbol of prosperity and security for nomadic people Leah means 'weary or wild cow' Jacob means 'heel grabber', either his brother's heel at the moment of birth or his brother's inheritance later on; the name can also mean 'deceiver' Laban means 'white'; it was sometimes linked with leprosy Reuben means 'behold, a son!' Joseph means 'may he add or increase'This great love story describes the foundation of the twelve tribes of Israel, and explains why the tribes are united (a common origin) and separate (the descendents of twelve different children of Jacob). But at a more human level it is about rivalry - between two women, the beautiful Rachel and her plain sister Leah, and between a man Jacob and his father-in-law Laban. The story contains five different episodes:   1 Rachel meets Jacob at the well, Genesis 29:1-14 2 Leah and Rachel marry Jacob, Genesis 29:15-30 3 Rachel has a son, Joseph, Genesis 29:31-15, 30:1-24 4 Rachel and Leah leave with Jacob, and Rachel takes the sacred household deities, Genesis 30:25-43, 31 5 Rachel has a son, Benjamin, and dies soon after, Genesis 35:16-30Rachel and Leah were the wives of Jacob. After running away from his tricking Esau in the birthright (Genesis 27) Jacob arrived at Laban, his mother's brother place. Rachel and Leah were the daughters of Laban. Every afternoon, Rachel (ewe) watered her flock of sheep at a well near Haran, an outpost of the ancient city of Ur. Wells had a practical use, but in story telling a well was a symbol of the feminine and of women's power to produce and nurture life.  Looked at reasonably, they were also places where young men and women could meet their future marriage partners.   Wells were covered with a broad flat stone that cut down on evaporation in the heat. Since it was too large for one man to move, the shepherds who gathered there waited until there was a group to move it.   On this particular afternoon, a young traveler called Jacob (heel catcher) was there as well. He chatted with the shepherds, telling them that his family had originally come from this same area. They pointed towards a woman in the distance, saying she was the daughter of his mother's brother.  When Jacob saw Rachel at close quarters, he was smitten. In an act of boldness, he removed the great stone single-handed, hoping to impress the young woman. He was successful. The reader is again aware of the sexual symbolism of his action, and knows that removing the lid from the well has shown he is worthy of Rachel's hand in marriage, and will be her lover and husband.      ‘Now when Jacob saw Rachel, the daughter of his mother's brother Laban … he went up and rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of his mother's brother Laban. Then Jacob kissed Rachel, and wept aloud.'Jacob introduced himself, becoming quite emotional in the process. He had made a long and grueling journey of about five hundred miles, and now found himself at journey's end, with the woman of his dreams. He was in the right place, with the right person, and his emotions spilled over. In response, Rachel ran to her father's house and told him about the young man. Her father, Laban (white), ran out to meet Jacob, welcoming him warmly. The text keeps repeating that Jacob is the son of Laban's sister: in many ancient societies, the relationship between a child and its mother's brother, the maternal uncle, was considered even more important that between a child and its father. This makes Laban's later betrayal of Jacob even more revolting.Jacob stayed with Rachel's family for a month, and during this time he fell deeply in love with Rachel. Join me as we go Chapter by Chapter, Verse by Verse, Unraveling the Words of Yahweh!Have any questions? There may be one in your town. A charming restaurant with handcrafted furniture, homemade bread, and staff who seem unusually warm and attentive. There are at least thirty-three Yellow Deli locations worldwide, and every one of them is reportedly run by unpaid members of the Twelve Tribes — a group the SPLC classifies as a Christian fundamentalist cult.In this episode, Tony Brueski asks why the Twelve Tribes is still operating after fifty years of allegations spanning child discipline concerns, forced labor claims, racial doctrine documented as white supremacist, and survivor testimony from three continents. The answer involves a legal framework that makes intervention in religious communities nearly impossible without immediate, provable harm to a specific individual. The 1984 Vermont raid was ruled unconstitutional. The public defender from the case later joined the group. Germany acted on hidden camera footage in 2013. The European Court of Human Rights upheld the decision. The United States has produced a different outcome on the same evidence. The group's financial model is self-sustaining. Its recruitment pipeline runs through its restaurants. Its members are reportedly trained not to cooperate with outside inquiries. And as recently as April 2026, the group closed one Yellow Deli location and opened another in a new community. The Twelve Tribes is not a historical case. It is a present-tense reality operating in neighborhoods across America. The question is whether knowing what you now know changes what you do the next time you see the sign.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? The evidence fills bookshelves. It spans hidden camera footage, court records, SPLC reports, FBI interviews, investigative journalism, and survivor memoirs. The group's own published materials include a child discipline manual and racial teachings documented as white supremacist. And the Yellow Deli is still open.In this episode, Tony Brueski examines why the Twelve Tribes has operated for five decades without facing lasting institutional consequence in the United States. The legal shield is real — religious freedom protections make intervention in communal groups extraordinarily difficult. The financial model is self-sustaining — unpaid labor generating revenue through consumer-facing businesses. The recruitment pipeline is self-replenishing — the delis bring new people in as others leave. And the opacity, according to FBI interviews with former members, is allegedly engineered through internal training that discourages cooperation with law enforcement. The 1984 Vermont raid produced a precedent that reportedly chilled enforcement for decades. The public defender from that case later joined the group. Germany acted on the same evidence in 2013 and the European Court of Human Rights upheld the decision. The United States has not taken equivalent action. As of 2026, the Twelve Tribes maintains approximately forty communities across sixteen states and ten countries. They are still opening new locations. The story is not winding down. It is still being written. And the question this series leaves is who bears responsibility for the fact that it continues.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? You walk out the door of a Twelve Tribes compound with nothing. No bank account. No driver's license. No work history. No understanding of how to rent an apartment, apply for a job, or file a tax return. The community you just left reportedly considers you dead. And there is no system waiting to catch you.In this episode, Tony Brueski examines the aftermath of leaving the Twelve Tribes — the group behind the Yellow Deli restaurant chain. Former members describe rebuilding their lives from zero. Some succeeded. Some did not. And cult researchers have documented a disturbing pattern: a significant number of people who leave high-control groups go on to join other authoritarian organizations, because the conditioning that kept them inside does not disappear when they walk out the door.Survivors from different decades and locations describe identical experiences. The paralysis of making independent decisions for the first time. The loneliness of a first night alone after decades of communal living. The struggle to answer the most basic question of identity: who am I, outside of what this group told me I was?The Twelve Tribes reportedly provides no preparation for life outside. Members allegedly surrender their savings, take new names, and are cut off from outside relationships. When they leave, they are not just rebuilding a life. They are reportedly rebuilding a self. There is no government program for cult survivors. The people in this episode found their own way out. The Twelve Tribes reportedly designed a world where leaving meant losing everything. And according to former members, that was not a side effect. It was the point. In this episode, Tony Brueski examines what happens after the escape. Former members describe walking out of Twelve Tribes compounds with no savings, no identification, no work history, and no understanding of how to navigate a world they were raised to believe was evil. The lack of outside skills is not accidental. The lack of outside relationships is not accidental. Former members say the entire structure was allegedly designed to make departure so painful that staying — even in a system that controlled every hour of their day — felt safer than the alternative.Multiple survivors share their stories. A woman who spent fourteen years inside described the promise of community turning into an authoritarian system. A man born into the group described his first interaction with everyday technology as alien. Siblings left one by one while their parents stayed.Cult researchers describe a pattern where former members of high-control groups seek out new authoritarian structures after leaving. The Twelve Tribes, with its alleged erasure of individual identity and total replacement of personal autonomy with group authority, reportedly creates exactly the conditions that make this pattern most likely.Getting out is the beginning, not the end. And for many former members, the journey from the compound door to a functional, independent life takes years — with no institutional support waiting on the other side.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Read OnlineOne of the Twelve“You, Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which one of these two you have chosen to take the place in this apostolic ministry from which Judas turned away to go to his own place.” Then they gave lots to them, and the lot fell upon Matthias, and he was counted with the Eleven Apostles. Acts 1:24–26Matthias, the saint we honor today, was named an Apostle to replace Judas Iscariot after Judas betrayed Jesus and hanged himself. Matthias was likely from Galilee and had followed Jesus from the beginning of His public ministry. After Judas' death, Peter led the approximately 120 disciples in selecting Matthias through prayer and casting lots, ensuring the Apostles once again numbered twelve. This election occurred before Pentecost, so Matthias received the Holy Spirit alongside the other Apostles, affirming the Twelve as the foundational body of the Church.Matthias' selection is profoundly important for two primary reasons. First, by being counted along with the other eleven Apostles, the group once again numbered twelve. Though there are thousands of bishops today, the foundation began with twelve. Once they received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and began their apostolic ministries, their number grew as the Church expanded. Nonetheless, the foundation remained, symbolizing the Twelve Tribes of Israel and uniting the New Testament Church with the Old Covenant.Second, Matthias' election establishes a biblical foundation for apostolic succession, one of the four marks of the Church: “I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church” (Nicene Creed). By proclaiming the Church as “one,” we affirm that there is only one Church—“the one Church of Christ” (Vatican II, Lumen Gentium 8). While not all are visible members of this one Church, all who are united to Christ in a state of grace are part of His one Body. Nonetheless, “This Church, constituted and organized in the world as a society, subsists in the Catholic Church, which is governed by the successor of Peter and by the Bishops in communion with him” (LG 8).The Church is “holy” because she is united to Christ, her divine Head, who is all-holy. As members of this Church, we are sanctified by Christ's grace, the sacraments, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that enable us to grow in holiness and reflect the sanctity of God Himself. The word “catholic” in the Creed is written in lowercase because it does not refer specifically to the Roman Catholic Church as an institution but to the broader meaning of the word “catholic,” which means “universal.” The one Church is universal in scope and mission, welcoming all people. It is the responsibility of the Church's members to share the Gospel with every person, seeking to draw all into full communion with the one visible Body of Christ. Finally, the Church is “apostolic,” which is especially celebrated in today's Feast of Saint Matthias. Every bishop alive today, every bishop in the past, and every bishop yet to be ordained until the end of time takes his episcopal roots from the Twelve Apostles, including Matthias, who received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.According to various traditions, the Apostle Matthias engaged in missionary activity in regions such as Cappadocia (modern-day Turkey), the Caspian Sea area (modern-day Georgia), and possibly as far south as Sudan and Ethiopia. He is believed to have died a martyr, either by crucifixion, stoning, or beheading. Though we do not know who succeeded him, we can be certain that he not only spread the Gospel and celebrated the Sacraments, but also ordained others to serve as apostles within the communities he helped to establish. As we honor Saint Matthias today, reflect on God's eternal wisdom in establishing the Church. God did not merely give us a set of rules to follow; He gave us a Church—His one Church—and entrusted His authority to sinful men who act in His name and convey His grace. Rejoice that you are a member of the Catholic Church, in which Christ's Church subsists. Pray not only for the mission of the Church, but also for those entrusted with apostolic responsibilities, passed on to them from the Twelve Apostles.Saint Matthias, you were counted among the Twelve and became an essential participant in the foundation of the Church. Through your apostolic ministry, you spread the Gospel far and wide, bringing grace and truth to those you were sent to serve. Please pray for me and for the entire Church, that we may always remain one, holy, catholic, and apostolic, so that the Gospel will continue to be spread to the ends of the earth. Saint Matthias, pray for me. Gene Spriggs built the Twelve Tribes into a movement spanning four continents, approximately forty communities, and at least thirty-three Yellow Deli locations. He reportedly controlled what his followers ate, wore, read, and believed. He assigned marriages and forbade divorce. His teachings on race have been documented by the SPLC as white supremacist. And then his wife allegedly broke the one rule the community considered unforgivable. In this episode, Tony Brueski traces Spriggs' arc from carnival worker to cult founder to the scandal that should have ended the Twelve Tribes — and the death that should have ended it again. Marsha Spriggs' alleged affairs with young male disciples were reportedly covered up by Gene and privately forgiven in a closed meeting. When the truth surfaced, hundreds of members left. But the system survived.Spriggs died in January 2021 at eighty-three. He left no successor. The communities did not fracture. The businesses did not close. The Child Training Manual he wrote — 267 pages of instructions for disciplining children, authored by a man who never raised one inside the community — reportedly remained in circulation. The Twelve Tribes did not survive because of Gene Spriggs. It survived because the system he built allegedly made itself bigger than any one person — including him. And that is the most unsettling legacy a cult leader can leave behind.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Inside the Twelve Tribes, adultery was reportedly the worst sin a member could commit. Punishable by banishment. No exceptions. Except one. When founder Gene Spriggs allegedly discovered his wife Marsha had affairs with young male disciples, he did not apply the rules he had enforced on everyone else. He reportedly ordered the transgressions covered up and privately forgave her. Families had been expelled for far less. When the truth emerged around 2008, hundreds walked out.In this episode, Tony Brueski profiles the man behind the Twelve Tribes and the Yellow Deli empire. Spriggs was a carnival worker turned guidance counselor turned self-proclaimed apostle who reportedly controlled every aspect of his followers' lives for fifty years. His teachings included racial doctrine the Southern Poverty Law Center has documented as white supremacist. He wrote a child discipline manual without ever raising a child inside the community. But it is the Marsha scandal that reveals the core of how the system allegedly operated. The rules existed to control everyone except the people who made them. And when that hypocrisy became visible, the system did not collapse. It survived. Because the machine Spriggs built was reportedly never about him. It was about compliance. And compliance, former members say, was the one thing the Twelve Tribes never had trouble producing.Spriggs died in 2021. The Twelve Tribes is still operating. The manual is reportedly still in use. The doors are still open.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? The Twelve Tribes — the group behind the Yellow Deli restaurant chain — has faced allegations of systematic child discipline across three continents and five decades. Former members describe a community where a rod was kept above every door, where children were allegedly struck for crying, and where a 267-page manual reportedly codified exactly how to deliver pain in the name of love. The manual was written by founder Gene Spriggs. He and his wife had no children together. He reportedly never raised a child inside the community. But the instructions he allegedly wrote governed how thousands of parents treated their children for decades. This episode traces the evidence from the 1984 Vermont raid — where one hundred and twelve children were seized and returned the same day — to the 2013 German intervention, where hidden camera footage led to the removal of forty children. The European Court of Human Rights upheld Germany's decision, finding the group promoted institutionalized violence against minors.Former members who grew up inside the Twelve Tribes in the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s describe the same system their predecessors described in the 1980s. Former members of the Twelve Tribes describe a childhood defined by a single object: a thin, reed-like rod kept above the door in every room of every home in every community. It was reportedly always within reach because, according to the people who grew up inside, it was always in use.In this episode, Tony Brueski builds the case from the ground up. The group's own published teachings defend corporal punishment as an act of love. Their internal Child Training Manual, reportedly running 267 pages, allegedly instructs parents to make it hurt enough to produce the desired result. Former members describe being struck dozens of times daily for offenses as minor as looking around while walking. The 1984 Vermont raid — in which authorities removed one hundred and twelve children from the Island Pond compound — was ruled unconstitutional. A restaurant chain with thirty-three locations, glowing reviews, and zero paid employees. That is the Yellow Deli — and according to former members and investigators, it is allegedly the front door to one of the longest-running cult operations in America. The Twelve Tribes, classified by the SPLC as a Christian fundamentalist cult, has reportedly operated for over fifty years across four continents. Their Yellow Deli restaurants are staffed by members who allegedly surrendered their savings, their legal names, and their family relationships when they joined. The group now maintains approximately forty communities in sixteen states and ten countries. In this episode, Tony Brueski examines how the recruitment pipeline allegedly works. Former members describe a pattern that repeats across decades and countries: the warm welcome, the communal meals, the escalating invitations, and then the ask to give everything you own. The transition from customer to member reportedly happens so gradually that many do not recognize it until leaving feels impossible.According to FBI interviews with former members, the group's internal rules reportedly prohibit association with outsiders. Members are allegedly trained to present a welcoming front that conceals the level of control operating behind the scenes. One former member described the experience as being drawn into something beautiful that turned into a system where leaving meant walking away with nothing — no money, no name, no skills, no support. The Yellow Deli is still open. The bread is still baking. And according to the people who got out, the pipeline is still running.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? There are at least thirty-three Yellow Deli locations worldwide. The reviews are glowing. The atmosphere is warm. And according to former members, cult researchers, and the Southern Poverty Law Center, every single one of them is allegedly a recruitment center for the Twelve Tribes — a group classified as a Christian fundamentalist cult.In this episode, Tony Brueski pulls back the curtain on the Yellow Deli pipeline. Former members describe a process that starts with a sandwich and ends with total surrender — your savings, your name, your family, your autonomy. The warmth is real. The strategy behind it, according to the people who lived through it, is allegedly calculated.Cult expert Steven Hassan has described the delis as recruitment vehicles where staff are reportedly trained to identify vulnerable visitors and guide them toward deeper involvement. One couple described being welcomed into a neighborhood by Twelve Tribes members who helped with their yard, brought meals, and finished home repairs for free. More than a year later, they reportedly realized they had been drawn into a system they could not easily leave. The Twelve Tribes was founded in 1972. The first Yellow Deli opened in 1973 with a model of members working for no pay. That model has allegedly not changed in over fifty years. The group maintains approximately forty communities across four continents. Former members describe surrendering all property, taking new names, and being cut off from outside relationships. This is how it allegedly starts. A meal. A smile. A door that closes so slowly you do not hear it shut.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Friday of the Second Week of Easter - Divine Providence Never Fails

Read OnlineJesus went up on the mountain, and there he sat down with his disciples. The Jewish feast of Passover was near. When Jesus raised his eyes and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, he said to Philip, “Where can we buy enough food for them to eat?” John 6:3–5Have you ever faced a situation in which you felt desperate? Some people endure severe poverty, unsure of where their next meal will come from. Others struggle with family disunity, leading to deep fear and anxiety. Some battle addiction, uncertain how they will ever break free. Still others face obstacles that seem insurmountable. Today's Gospel reminds us that nothing is impossible for God.The story of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes begins with an intriguing exchange between Jesus and two of His disciples. Jesus asked Philip where they could buy food for the crowd, even though He knew they did not have enough money nor a place to buy food. This question was more of a statement, showing us that we must always rely on divine providence, especially when faced with the impossible. From a human perspective, feeding such a vast crowd on a mountaintop was impossible. Similarly, we all encounter situations in life that, by human means, present insurmountable challenges. If the crowd had numbered only about twenty people, one of the disciples might have managed to meet the need with a practical solution, such as purchasing food from a nearby village. Thus, when a challenge in life has a reasonable solution within our capacity, we should pursue it. When human effort alone is not enough, we must turn to divine providence.Philip's response reveals his purely rational perspective: “Two hundred days' wages worth of food would not be enough for each of them to have a little.” In contrast, Andrew shows a glimmer of faith and hope when he points out, “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many?” The role of the boy is often overlooked. Although the Gospel says little about him, it is clear that he entrusted everything he had to Jesus. Perhaps it was this small act of trust that allowed Jesus to perform the miracle. After Jesus had the vast crowd of 5,000 men—not counting women and children—recline in the grass, He did the unimaginable. He transformed the five barley loaves and two fish into more than the crowd could eat. The twelve baskets of food left over symbolize God's superabundant providence, given to those who are members of His Kingdom—the new Twelve Tribes of Israel, His Church. We must read this miracle from both a literal and a spiritual point of view. First, Jesus literally fed this vast crowd with a few loaves and fish. In our lives, He promises the same when we entrust all we have to Him. Though we must act responsibly to provide for ourselves and our families, in the end, we must believe that Jesus will provide all we need. His concern extends to our material needs, relieving us of worry and anxiety when we trust in Him.Spiritually speaking, God's providence assures us that every desperate situation in which we find ourselves can be transformed by grace if we trust Him. Family disunity, addictions, poverty, and every other human struggle can and will be transformed by His grace if we fully surrender to Him. For example, even if a family relationship is beyond reconciliation, by fully surrendering that relationship to Him, His grace will either heal it or use the suffering as a source of grace in ways we could never imagine. Nothing is beyond the power of God. Reflect today on this vast crowd coming to Jesus on the mountain. See yourself in that crowd. See yourself as hungry and even desperate, journeying toward Him Who is the answer to every problem. See yourself as that boy who gives all he has to Jesus. Don't hold anything back. Trust in Him and know that His divine providence will transform anything you bring to Him in superabundance. My providential Lord, I bring to You today all that I have and entrust it to You. I believe that You love me and care about every aspect of my life. Please take the little I offer You—everything I have—and transform it superabundantly by Your grace. Your providence never fails, dear Lord. Help me to believe that with all my heart. This cloth breastplate contained a fold wherein the Urim v'Tumim, a parchment on which was written G‑d's Name, was inserted. The Choshen Misphat was then secured by straps which connected it to the ephod.

Read OnlineThe mother of Jesus and his brothers arrived at the house. Standing outside, they sent word to Jesus and called him. A crowd seated around him told him, “Your mother and your brothers and your sisters are outside asking for you.” Mark 3:31–32In Jesus' time, family bloodlines were of great importance. They determined one's identity as part of the chosen people of Israel, the descendants of Abraham. Being part of God's covenantal family was understood primarily in terms of physical ancestry. Bloodlines also played a crucial role in determining rights to land ownership, which was tied to one's family lineage. This connection between lineage and land had important theological significance, as the Promised Land was a visible sign of God's covenant with Israel. The lineage of two of the Twelve Tribes of Israel held particular significance. Members of the Tribe of Levi were uniquely chosen to serve as priests in the Temple. Additionally, the Messiah was prophesied to descend from the Tribe of Judah, specifically from the line of King David. This gave David's lineage an elevated status. This significance is reflected in Matthew's and Luke's genealogies, which establishes Jesus' legal and spiritual claim as the promised Messiah. It is for these reasons that Jesus' words in today's Gospel surprised many. When Jesus' mother and his brothers—meaning His cousins or other extended family—arrived at the house where He was teaching, they wanted to see Him. First, it should be noted that in Jewish culture, there was no specific word for “cousins” or “extended family,” so the terms “brothers” and “sisters” were used more broadly. Naturally, those present might have expected Him to go out immediately to see them in deference to His familial ties. Yet He takes that opportunity to offer a new teaching when He asks the crowd, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” Answering His own question, He pointed to those around Him, saying, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother” (Mark 3:34–35).Jesus was in no way diminishing the value of His blood relatives. In fact, the bond He shared with His mother went far deeper than DNA. Instead, He used the opportunity to expand the people's natural familial bonds to include all those who were united spiritually. He taught that kinship in God's family is not based on physical descent but on obedience to His will. This redefinition transformed their understanding of what it means to belong to God's people, opening the door to new bonds of unity based in faith and grace.Today, families remain the most important foundation of life. “The family is, so to speak, the domestic church” (Lumen Gentium, 11). The family is chosen by God as the primary community from which love, virtue, and faith are born, making them a community of love, participating in the unity of the Trinity. However, natural family bonds are now expanded by the supernatural bonds we share through the Blood of Christ, which unites all of us more deeply. Ideally, those supernatural bonds are first experienced within natural families, but even when they are not, the supernatural bonds we share through Christ's Blood create a spiritual family that transcends earthly relationships. As Christians, we are called to extend this familial love beyond our households, embracing all who do the will of God as brothers and sisters in faith.Reflect today on the blessings and challenges you have within your own family. What is of paramount importance is that, within those natural bonds, we strive to move deeper, forging spiritual bonds that are eternal. Reflect also on your wider Christian community. Do you strive to build bonds of faith and charity with others? As you ponder Jesus' words today, look at your natural family and beyond, giving thanks for those who do the will of God, and work to foster deep relationships grounded in the new Bloodline of Christ's grace. Most Holy Trinity, You are the source of perfect harmony and unity, sharing a love that is beyond all understanding. Draw me, and all people, into that unity of love. Bless my natural family on earth and unite us ever more deeply through Your grace. Bless also my spiritual family, my brothers and sisters in faith, united by the bonds we share in fulfilling Your holy will. Read OnlineHe appointed the Twelve: Simon, whom he named Peter; James, son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James, whom he named Boanerges, that is, sons of thunder; Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus; Thaddeus, Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot who betrayed him. Mark 3:16–19Though Jesus called many disciples, He chose Twelve, representing the Twelve Tribes of Israel, and entrusted them with a unique mission. He named them Apostles, meaning “one who is sent” or “messenger,” and gave them His authority as the first bishops of His Church. Among them was the betrayer, Judas Iscariot. Did Jesus make a mistake when He called Judas to be an Apostle? Certainly not. Jesus' actions were perfect in every way and fully in accord with the Father's will. Why did He pick Judas, even though He knew he would betray Him?Saint Thomas Aquinas teaches that Jesus possessed the Beatific Vision and infused knowledge from the moment of His conception (Summa Theologiae, III.9.2&3). Therefore, He comprehended all things with God's eternal knowledge, including the future role each Apostle would play. When He chose Judas Iscariot, He knew the path Judas would take, yet He called him anyway. An important theological principle to understand is that God's foreknowledge of our future does not interfere with our free will. Some philosophers have argued that God's foreknowledge means the path we walk is predetermined and cannot change. While it is true that what God knows will not change, it is also true that His knowledge does not force or determine what we freely choose. God's knowledge simply transcends and encompasses all time. When pondering the sorrowful betrayal of one of Jesus' intimate friends, there are important lessons we can learn from this permissive act of evil. God permits evil because He permits good. If He were to prohibit evil—an act of free will—He would be prohibiting the use of free will itself, thwarting our ability to freely love. This reveals the incredible gift that God has given us: the ability to love or not. This gift is essential to who we are, enabling us to share in God's abundant and overflowing love and mercy, freely bestowed and freely received.God's permissive will also reflects the mysterious relationship between Divine Providence and human action. God, Who is All-Powerful, can bring good even out of the gravest sins. This is not a credit to us but to God's might. In the case of Judas, God used his betrayal to set in motion the very act of redemption. The same is true in our lives. When we experience betrayal, or betray another, God is able to bring good out of that act. If we are guilty of betrayal and fail to repent, God's justice will prevail, and we will be condemned. Though our sins against others are damaging, God can use even our sins for good in their lives. He can foster mercy and forgiveness in others' hearts and unite them more fully with Himself, Who was betrayed. When another sins against us, the impulse to judge and condemn is a common temptation. Yet, the lesson we must learn from Judas is recorded beautifully by Saint Paul: “We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). Even injustice and sins committed against us are not reasons for despair but for hope—hope in the sinner's repentance and hope that God will transform evil into good for those who love Him and unite themselves with Jesus' betrayal by Judas. Reflect today on God's almighty power to work all things for good in your life, even sin. Though the sinner who refuses to repent will experience the fullness of God's justice, profound good can come from our repentance and from imitating Jesus, Who endured cruel betrayal. Trust in His power and allow Him to bring good out of evil in your life. Doing so not only lifts the heavy burden of anger, it also infuses God's perfect charity into any and everything we encounter or endure in life. My triumphant Lord, You were cruelly treated by one of Your closest companions, yet in Your almighty power You transformed that evil, bringing from it the greatest good ever known—our redemption. Please give me the grace to repent when I sin, and when I am sinned against, help me to unite that injustice to the betrayal You endured so that Your grace will triumph. Jesus, I trust in You.  Image: NateBergin, CC BY 4.0, via Wikimedia CommonsSource of content: catholic-daily-reflections.comCopyright © 2026 My Catholic Life! Inc. All rights reserved. Jacob's final blessings contain important lessons on sin, grace, and our ultimate hope.

They literally permeate the prophets, and in particular things that have not yet come to pass, but are still largely an enigma to "churchianity." The chapters they explore this week - Jeremiah 3, and Ezekiel 23, are sometimes even considered "controversial" by a 'church' that is still in exile for the very reasons they outline. They should NOT be, and the fact that some claim they are just helps make His point.

This time, Tammy walks us through what finally pushed her family to leave the Twelve Tribes, including a hollow diet, some serious double standards, and a clandestine late-night escape from their Florida commune. She shares what it's like to rejoin the outside world after years of being told it was evil (spoiler: it's weird), how Rite Aid and a bag of Hershey's Kisses helped rewire her brain, and what healing looks like when you're doing it for both yourself and your kids. We also talk about her book, All Who Believed, part memoir, part survival manual, for anyone trying to make sense of life after leaving a high-control group. This episode is sponsored in part by Betterhelp. Twelve Tribes started as a Bible study in the 1970s. Today, it's a nationwide network of high-control communities, often hiding in plain sight behind the homespun charm of Yellow Deli cafés. The group claims to offer a simpler, more spiritual life. But behind the braided bread and “family values” lies a world of control, corporal punishment, and deep-rooted misogyny. In Part 1 of our conversation with Tamara Mathieu, we hear what it's like to live inside. Tammy spent 14 years in the Twelve Tribes, lured in by the promise of community and stability at a vulnerable time in her life. But what began as a warm welcome quickly turned into an authoritarian nightmare, especially for women and children. She shares how the group isolates members, enforces biblical patriarchy, and punishes dissent, and what it took to finally break free. To learn more about Tammy's journey, check out her memoir All Who Believed, a raw and powerful account of survival and escape. On August 2, 1831 a group of saints gathered twelve miles west of Independence in Kaw township. Twelve men, representing the Twelve Tribes of Israel, laid a log as a “foundation in Zion.” Before Sidney Rigdon offered the dedicatory prayer, he asked the saints gathered there, Do you pledge yourselves to keep the laws of God on this land, which you never have kept in your own lands? [The audience responded,] “we do.” Do you pledge yourselves to see that others of your brethren who shall come hither do keep the laws of God? [Those present again said,] we do. After [the dedicatory] prayer [Elder Rigdon] arose and said, I now pronounce this land consecrated and dedicated to the Lord for a possession and inheritance for the Saints (in the name of Jesus Christ having authority from him). And for all the faithful servants of the Lord to the remotest ages of time. Amen” (Institute Manual, Church History, 107). From that time until October 1838, the Saints sought to build Zion in Missouri. Establishing a Zion society proved difficult. The Lord warned them in 1831 that Zion's glory would only come “after much tribulation” (D&C 58:4). Are you ready for Zion?
