Message by Doug Bunnell, recorded live April 14, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church of Bellingham. Scripture read by Ann Hinz. What a Friend We Have in Jesus: We can approach trials in our life with hope and faith because God will use them to draw us into maturity and contentment. What are trials you have faced? How did God use these trials to carve out maturity and character in your life? What would it look like to consider those trials with joy? What future trials do you dread? What does it look like to face them with joy? James 1:1-4 1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes in the dispersion: Greetings. 2 My brothers and sisters, whenever you face various trials, consider it all joy, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance complete its work, so that you may be complete and whole, lacking in nothing.
Who is this Jesus? - Matthew 16:13-20What we believe about Jesus is often colored by what others have said. What we believe about Jesus must come from the true source. What we believe about Jesus must move us from information to transformation. The Church is built on the confession of believers. Our confession of Christ gives us the power to beat death, and a relationship to live like they do in Heaven.Who you say Jesus is will determine if you will share Him.
We all will go through trials, but we aren't guaranteed to grow through them. But God wants us to do more than get us through our struggles. God uses our trials to refine us and make us more like Jesus! Message Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49243869
In this message from Pastor Joe Still, we continue our celebration of the Resurrection of JESUS, as we look at final moments Jesus spent with His followers before ascending into Heaven. The Gospel writer Luke records some of the most exciting and hope-filled words ever spoken by angels to humankind! We'll take time to reflect on three incredibly beautiful words from GOD, delivered by Angels at the Ascension of Jesus, “THIS SAME JESUS…”
Do you want to be inspired to live out your faith to the fullest? If so, you will need to go to the right source. Not surprisingly, Jesus is the greatest motivational leader in human history, and we would do well to learn from his example. It was just the right time for me. I felt the emptiness of my life so deeply and I found a large group of people who loved you and were serious about following you. Their lives inspired me and gave me hope for my own life. I had never seen that before. I think you had something to do with that – no, I think you had everything to do with that. It seemed almost too good to be true and I wondered if it was. I am sure you remember the hours and hours I spent looking at the evidence to see if I could have a real faith in you. Thank you for providing all the reasons I needed to believe. (Thank you for providing all the reasons anyone needs to believe!) You lived and you died on a cross for me. You were raised from the dead so I could also live a new life. That's why I am still following you. Of course, many years have passed now. More than anything else, it has been a life of joy and blessing. But it has also been just as challenging as you warned me it would be. Perhaps I should say, even harder than I ever thought it might be. If I am honest, most of the time the difficulty is within me…my own struggle with sin, insecurity, and selfishness. Even so, you keep loving me even when I have fallen and disappointed you. Instead of condemnation and retribution, you offer me fatherly discipline, repentance, and forgiveness.

Our faith is often being born even before we realize who Jesus is and what he has done for us. Many people say they don't believe in God but many also say that they want to believe in something. Jesus is here whether we see him or not. We can see if we choose to take a look. It's easy to move in and out of the Easter season very casually as we move into spring, but for the next few weeks, we want to slow down and process this season more closely. If Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, and rose from the dead then that reality changes everything. This week we unpack 2 Corinthians 5:20-6:2 ESV and explore the idea that Jesus lived a sinless life. Speaker: Michael Bayne Text: 2 Corinthians 5:20 - 6:2 ESV
