Send us a textThis week, I'm sharing something exciting: I co-authored a new book called The Courage to Raise! It's a collaborative project with eight other special needs moms, and I'm proud (and a little surprised) to be a published author again—especially since writing has never come easily to me.In this episode, I talk about how the opportunity came about (perfect timing while I was already traveling), what my chapter is about, and the special tool I included called Tolerating the Intolerable—a game plan for surviving those chaotic, over-the-top moments we know too well. I even share a few “plays” that didn't make the book but are too good not to mention (Skedaddle, anyone?).Whether or not you buy the book (but I hope you do!), this episode offers a behind-the-scenes look at how I turned hard stories into something meaningful.Resources Mentioned:

Escuchar audio

PRESS REVIEW – Wednesday, May 21: The humanitarian situation in Gaza is on most front pages today, many of them picking up on a UN report which suggested that 14,000 babies could die if aid does not get through. Israel seems to be losing the support of many of its allies. Also, a medical journal has found that teenagers today are facing an unprecedented health crisis. And, a local Chicago newspaper has published a summer reading list almost entirely made up of fake books. The humanitarian situation in Gaza is on most front pages today. The Independent's front page calls the Gaza hunger crisis “utterly intolerable". Although Israel said it would let in some aid, the BBC reports that although the Israeli government let 93 trucks into Gaza, no aid has been given out so far. The Times of Israel looks at a UN statement issued on Tuesday, which said that 14,000 babies could die in Gaza if aid does not get through quickly. The Jerusalem Post is reporting on the backlash faced by Israeli opposition politician Yair Golan after he said that "a sane country does not kill babies as a hobby”. La Croix meanwhile says that his comments might be the start of a critical reflection on Gaza.Israel is not only facing domestic criticism. The international community has been adding pressure on Israel recently. the Guardian's front page also quotes David Lammy's speech to the House of Commons, where the foreign secretary has since announced the suspension of talks with Israel and imposed sanctions on three individuals and four entities related to the settler movement. Le Monde says that the EU has agreed to re-examine “the EU-Israel Association Agreement”, which forms the basis of the bloc's trade ties with Israel. Meanwhile, the Times is reporting that Donald Trump is also growing increasingly frustrated with Netanyahu.A report published in The Lancet has found that adolescents and young children have never been unhealthier. The National Geographic reports that this generation is facing unique threats on a scale never seen before. The article says that teenagers are having to grapple with the influence of new global technologies. It says that today's adolescents are the “first cohort of humans who will live their entire life experiencing the growing reverberations of climate change”. The Guardian says that half a billion young people will be obese or overweight by 2030.A local newspaper in Chicago has come under fire for an AI mishap. The Chicago Sun-Times has just published a summer reading list with books that don't exist. The tech news site 404 media was the first to report that AI had partially generated the list. Meanwhile, the Chicago Sun Times has issued a statement apologising to its readers. Finally, The Hollywood Reporter brings very joyous news that Peppa Pig has a new baby sister Evie. Evie Pig will be making her screen debut on March 30.You can catch our press review every morning on France 24 at 7:20am and 9:20am (Paris time), from Monday to Friday.

Mary welcomes back historian William Federer to talk about the unthinkable: the encroachment of Islam in America - in alarming ways. In 2006, Keith Ellison became the first Muslim elected to Congress. He swore his oath on the Qua'ran. Today in Texas, two Islamic lawmakers are leading the Pakistainification of the Lone Star State. How Islam is affecting our world here in 2025 is every bit as important as it was back in the 7th century. Cities like Pflugerville, Plano, and Sugarland Texas are finding out just how the idea that Islam is just another religion that should be tolerated is so dangerous. The flag of Islamic dominance is being planted in our nation and who is sounding the alarm? The cost of our silence, starting at the ballot box, is going up by the hour.  William Federer is a nationally known speaker, best-selling author, and president of Amerisearch, Inc., a publishing company dedicated to researching America's heritage. His AMERICAN MINUTE radio feature is broadcast daily across America and by the Internet.

She shares her insights on various topics related to workplace dynamics, values alignment, and effective training methods.Gail begins by emphasizing the importance of appreciating employees' abilities and positive intentions. She highlights the need for companies to align individuals with shared values to suitable job positions and offers her commitment to helping candidates find opportunities even if they aren't the right fit for their current company.Gail encourages candidates to refer others who might be better suited for the position, recognizing that even if someone doesn't work out initially, they may become a valuable asset in the future after gaining new skills and experience. She reflects on the negative impact of not receiving recognition for a job well done, discussing how a leader's lack of gratitude can make an employee feel undervalued. This, in turn, can lead to the employee seeking new job opportunities, causing misunderstandings and potential turnover.Drawing from her extensive background in healthcare HR, Gail emphasizes the importance of practical application and independent problem-solving in training. She advises against relying solely on PowerPoint presentations for adult learning and suggests that interactive activities are more effective for clinical skills and behavioral change. She introduces a process called "the purge," which involves brainstorming behaviors that are no longer tolerable and then flipping them to determine the desired expectations. These expectations are then paired with the organization's values for easy integration and alignment.Throughout the episode, Gail recognizes areas where her explanations can be improved upon and expresses gratitude for the thoughtful questions posed, emphasizing the constant growth and learning process.
