When roles shift at home and at work, even strong couples can feel the strain. In this episode, returning guests Shay and Phil Bynes (Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur) pull back the curtain on their four-year journey of transitioning Shay out of the CEO seat and Phil in—while raising three kids and continuing to lead a global movement. They share what changed, what didn't, and how they protected connection through it all. You'll hear how they navigated identity, authority, and expectations as spouses and co-leaders—without letting business tension become marital tension. From hearing God's nudge to act, to wrestling with control, to defining new decision rights, Phil and Shay explain the practical guardrails (and plenty of grace) that made the handoff work. We also get tactical about staying close during busy seasons: weekly “marriage board meetings,” spontaneous micro-check-ins, and simple, intentional fun that doesn't require a plane ticket. If you're a married entrepreneur aiming to grow your business without shrinking your marriage, this conversation is a masterclass in change done together. 12 Powerful Questions to Connect You with God's Heart & Mind in Business: https://kingdomdrivenentrepreneur.com/usccc Free Chapter of Shae's Book, Grace Under Pressure: A Story About Leadership and the Hidden Cost of Ambition https://shaebynes.com/gupbook Grace over Grind https://kingdomdrivenentrepreneur.com/our-books/ Key Takeaways: Transitions need clarity: Decide who owns which decisions now (vision, people, money, operations) and write it down. Step back—then calibrate: Founders often swing too far away after a handoff; expect to iterate until the advisor/CEO rhythm fits. Protect a weekly marriage meeting: Same time, same day, non-negotiable. Use ground rules so issues get resolved before they fester. Honor design differences: Lead styles will differ by God's design; resist the urge to “correct” your spouse into your style. Let things “sputter” (strategically): Maturity sometimes requires leaders to stop rescuing, so teams learn to think and own outcomes. Friendship fuels connection: Micro-moments (10-minute check-ins, pausing a show to talk) keep intimacy alive during busy stretches. Serve first leadership: Out-serving one another at home creates safety and teamwork that shows up in the business. Plan fun on purpose: Comedy nights, simple dates, and kid-care logistics belong on the calendar like any key meeting. Phil Bynes is CEO of Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur, a global movement equipping entrepreneurs to partner with God in business and create greater Kingdom impact in the marketplace. He is also the owner and lead therapist at Crazy Good Massage, where he has served clients with excellence for over 20 years. Shae Bynes, affectionately known as the Chief Fire Igniter, equips leaders to build grace-empowered cultures where people and results flourish. She has impacted over one million people worldwide through her books, courses, podcasts, and speaking. In her executive advising work, she brings a unique blend of strategic clarity, spiritual intelligence, and transformational insight. High school sweethearts since age 16, Phil and Shae have been married for 26 years and are the proud parents of three daughters. In this episode of Healthy Waves, host Avik Chakraborty sits down with Dr. James Kneller, a renowned cardiologist and founder of the Natural Cardiology Institute, to explore how heart health goes far beyond cholesterol, blood pressure, and prescriptions. Together they discuss the heart–brain connection, the role of mindset and stress, the influence of energy alignment, and the integration of natural therapies in modern cardiology. Dr. Kneller also shares how meditation, water quality, and even consciousness practices can reshape not only heart health but also resilience and purpose. This is a thought-provoking look at the heart as both a physical organ and an energetic center that governs much of how we live and thrive. About the Guest Dr. James Kneller is a cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist with over 20 years of experience treating complex heart rhythm disorders. He is the founder of the Natural Cardiology Institute, creator of innovative heart health products like Cholesterol-Free and Just Beat It, and co-author of two upcoming books with Mark Victor Hansen. Beyond clinical medicine, Dr. Kneller is passionate about merging cutting-edge science with natural healing, exploring how mindset, energy, and spirituality directly influence the heart. Key Takeaways The heart–brain axis is a robust neurologic and energetic system, with the heart influencing the brain as much as the brain influences the heart. Stress and negative thinking directly contribute to fibrosis, atherosclerosis, arrhythmias, and shortened lifespan. The heart's electromagnetic field is 5,000 times stronger than the brain's, shaping both our interactions and the energy we attract. Conventional cardiology, while powerful, has limitations—for example, despite new drugs, deaths from hypertension have increased dramatically. Natural therapies such as meditation, energized water, music, herbs, and clean nutrition can complement medical treatment and improve cardiovascular health. Meditation is one of the most effective and accessible practices to calm the nervous system, align mind and body, and protect the heart. The heart holds aspects of personality and memory, as seen in heart transplant cases, making spiritual and mindset work essential for cardiac wellness. True healing requires building a bridge between medicine and nature—embracing both science and spirituality. An episode from Queanbeyan Bible Baptist Church (QBBC), a conservative, independent body of King James Bible believers located near Canberra, NSW Australia. What QBBC believes about the Holy Bible: That both verbal and plenary inspiration applies to the Scriptures known as the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament Canon. That is, that God literally breathed His words and that every part of the Scriptures is the Word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16. We believe that God preserved His words as he promised to do. These words are preserved in the original languages of Hebrew and Greek exactly the way He intended them to be without need of addition or subtraction to any part of them. We also believe that the doctrine of inspiration is of no value without the doctrine of preservation. We believe that the doctrine of inspiration is of no value without the doctrine of preservation. Therefore, the Authorized King James Version of 1611, is the perfect, preserved, inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God for English speaking people. Simply, the Authorized King James Version is the Scriptures in English. It should be read, memorized, obeyed, and trusted as the very words of God as He intended them to be. The King James Bible is superior to any other version available and is the final authority in all matters. Exodus 24:3; Deuteronomy 6:6-9; 29:29; Joshua 1:8; Job 23:12; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; James 1:22. This podcast is predicated on the belief that if we all work together, we can still lay the foundations for a future we'd be proud to leave as our legacy. And it's becoming increasingly obvious that this is now urgent; that we need to let go of the assumptions we'd made about career paths or future constructs and give ourselves wholeheartedly to the process of making it through. Five years ago when we began, it was possible to imagine that the world might stabilise with a vestige of the old system as a scaffold for the new. That assumption is growing increasingly ragged. At the same time, it's becoming increasingly obvious, at least to me, that the shifts we need to be in the world are primarily inner; that the truly urgent work is in healing both our own and the global human psyches, that we need urgently to remember how to connect with the web of life so that we can ask it 'What do you want of me?' and respond to the answers in real time. That we need, in short. to evolve. But we need mentors and guides along the way. It is possible that we could perhaps each carve out our own route, but part of being human is sharing best practice, is having elders and mentors who open the doors of possibility for those who strive to walk the ways of healing. And this week's guest is one of those elders and mentors; he's a trailblazer of the most incandescent kind. Professor Christopher Bache is professor emeritus in the department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Youngstown State University, adjunct faculty at the California Institute of Integral Studies, Emeritus Fellow at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, and on the Advisory Council of Grof Legacy Training. He grew up in a Catholic household in the southern US and spent 4 years at a seminary training to be a priest before deciding this wasn't the path for him. Moving into academia, he took degrees in the US and at Cambridge and finally a PhD by the end of which he had concluded that, 'using language derived from finite existence to describe an infinite God was like shining flashlights at the stars.' He duly finished graduate school as 'a deeply convinced agnostic with a strong atheistic bent' and went on to teach the philosophy of religion as an academic study. So far, so academically straight. He took a post teaching at Youngstown University in Ohio - and then he read Ian Stevenson on reincarnation and Stanislav Grof's work on LSD. And 45 years later, I read his book, 'Diamonds from Heaven: LSD and the Mind of the Universe' and realised that here was someone who had walked with the Heart Mind of the Universe. Here is someone who has taken himself to the edge of being, in order to understand the process. As you'll hear, over the course of 20 years, he took 73 truly heroic doses of LSD in very carefully controlled conditions and then, over the past 20 years, he has reflected deeply on the results. I'll let him tell his story: it's truly remarkable. And what he brings to us is visions of how humanity could be: it's not guaranteed - but it's the opening to a door of possibility where every one of us can play a part, where, as he says, if we can align ourselves with the needs of the living planet, find out what's ours to do and devote ourselves to doing it, we have no idea what might arise. For many of us, this feels like a true dark night of the soul. So I offer this conversation as a ray of potential, that out of this immense pressure, might arise the conscious evolution of humanity: if we can all find ways to be the change.
