Jesus Prays for His Church (John 17:20-26)

Michael Easley Sermons

In this sermon, Michael Easley explores the themes of apostolic teaching, unity in Christ, the significance of glory, and the understanding of God's righteousness and love. He emphasizes the importance of the apostles' mission to spread the gospel, the necessity of doctrinal purity for true unity, and the transformative power of experiencing Christ's glory. The sermon culminates in the profound truth that God's love for believers is as deep as His love for His Son, Jesus Christ. Takeaways Jesus prays for future believers and their mission. Unity in Christ is based on doctrinal purity. The gospel is central to Christian unity. Experiencing Christ's glory deepens our faith. Authentic Christian relationships invite the world to believe. God's righteousness is distinct from worldly standards. Believers are called to reflect God's love to the world. The depth of God's love is demonstrated on the cross. Our ultimate hope is rooted in God's love for us. Michael originally taught ‘Jesus Prays for His Church (John 17:20-26)' at Immanuel Bible Church.

It's the dead of night. The wind is still and Jesus is bowed on the ground. The silence can be cut with a knife as the trees of the garden stand still. His tears have covered the ground beneath Him, tinged red by the blood they contain. As he stands, his knees feel feeble from the exertion poured out seeking His Father. He moves towards the disciples, His friends, and finding them asleep a sound emerges in the distance. At first it is the clanking of a solitary sword. Then a crack as something moved through the brush. The clamor grows louder as one, two, three torches emerge in the darkness and eventually become many. As the crowd surrounds Jesus, the suffering servant, is sure of mission, this will be the moment where He relinquishes all of Himself for the will of the Father, and the plan set in motion long ago.  Jesus knew what to expect in the hands of men (John 2:25).  Death, pain, shame, tribulation.  Paul now writes that this same Jesus who lowered Himself, has been established in ultimate power on high. Now that the odds have changed, what can man expect from the God we've executed?  This is the question we'll seek to answer in this message. Hint, for those who believe, you will be pleasantly surprised!  Pastor Matt McCarter

Exploring Faith: 10 Truths, Experiencing Christ 3 #RTTBROS #Nightlight The Great High Priest "Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession." - Hebrews 4:14 In the Old Testament, the high priest stood between God and man, offering sacrifices for sin. But Jesus serves as our perfect High Priest in an extraordinary way – He is both the priest offering the sacrifice and the sacrifice itself! This truth transforms how we approach God. We don't need human mediators or repeated sacrifices. Christ's perfect life qualifies Him to represent us before God, and His sacrificial death satisfies God's justice fully and finally. Consider these magnificent truths: - He can sympathize with our weaknesses (Hebrews 4:15) - He ever lives to make intercession for us (Hebrews 7:25) - He is touched with the feeling of our infirmities (Hebrews 4:15) Today's Application: Reflect on a current struggle. How does knowing Jesus understands human weakness while possessing divine power change your perspective? Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for being my perfect High Priest. Help me come boldly to Your throne of grace, knowing You understand and care. Amen. --- Series Reflection Questions: 1. How has your understanding of Jesus's divine nature deepened? 2. What aspects of Christ's humanity most comfort you? 3. How does seeing Jesus as both God and man impact your daily walk with Him? Remember, knowing Christ isn't merely accumulating facts – it's developing a relationship with the One who is both our Creator and Brother, our God and Friend, our Judge and Advocate. Let these truths draw you closer to Him in worship and trust. #KnowingJesus #ChristianFaith #BiblicalTruth Be sure to Like, Share, Follow and subscribe it helps get the word out. https://linktr.ee/rttbros

Exploring Faith: 10 Truths, Experiencing Christ 2 #RTTBROS #Nightlight The Image of the Invisible God "Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power..." - Hebrews 1:3 Imagine trying to explain color to someone who has never seen. That's somewhat like our challenge in knowing God – until Jesus came. Christ is "the express image" of God's person, making the invisible God visible. In Christ, we see: - God's power: Calming storms and raising the dead - God's wisdom: Teaching eternal truths through simple parables - God's love: Touching lepers and dying for sinners - God's holiness: Confronting sin while offering grace The historical Jesus walked dusty roads, felt hunger, and shed real tears. Yet this same Jesus commanded nature, forgave sins, and rose from the dead. He bridges the infinite gap between God and man because He is both. Today's Application: Read Mark 4:35-41. Notice both Christ's humanity (sleeping) and deity (calming the storm). How does this dual nature comfort you in your current circumstances? Prayer: Jesus, thank You for revealing the Father to me. Help me trust both Your power as God and Your sympathy as man. Amen. #KnowingJesus #ChristianFaith #BiblicalTruth Be sure to Like, Share, Follow and subscribe it helps get the word out. https://linktr.ee/rttbros

The mystery of Christ's incarnation stretches our minds beyond human comprehension, yet it stands as the cornerstone of our faith. When John declares Jesus as "the Word," he reveals something profound: Jesus is God's ultimate self-expression. Just as our words reveal our thoughts, Jesus reveals the Father's heart. He isn't merely a good teacher or prophet – He is God Himself, stepping into His own creation. Consider how the Word "was made flesh, and dwelt among us" (John 1:14). The Greek word for "dwelt" literally means "to pitch a tent." Just as God's presence dwelt in the tabernacle among Israel, Jesus pitched His tent in human flesh to dwell among us. Today's Application: Read Colossians 1:15-20 slowly. List every divine attribute of Christ you find. Let these truths deepen your worship. Prayer: Lord Jesus, open my eyes to see You more clearly as both God and man. Help me grasp the magnitude of Your condescension in becoming human. Amen. #KnowingJesus #ChristianFaith #BiblicalTruth Be sure to Like, Share, Follow and subscribe it helps get the word out. https://linktr.ee/rttbros

Experiencing Christ // Pastor Dominick Butler To see the Altar full of hungry lovers of Jesus is a sight that stirs all of Heaven and strikes horror in the Kingdom of Darkness. Last night the Altar was full of hearts longing to break their alabaster jars over the feet of Jesus. There is no distance between you and God that Christ has not filled. Experiencing Christ is the reward and adventure of the Gospel. When the deep reality of the Person of Christ is impressed upon our hearts by the Spirit of God, your appetite for the things of this world is ruined. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ For More info on Gold Street Garden visit; https://linktr.ee/goldstreetgarden
