Angelia truly lives her life for Jesus “Sometimes we don't get to see the increase of the seeds that have been planted in others' lives, but I believe God gets the increase if we keep doing what He said for us to do. That's the blessing. That's the Peace that passes all understanding & the Joy that you can't explain. It's given to you - not on your works, but about your Love & your Will to be keep being His Hands & Feet.”If you're asking the Question: What does God want me to do? - “Do something - Do something!” - “Once you start planting those seeds it's hard to stop doing it.” - “We look at what we're giving, instead of looking at what we're getting.”Why is the church in America declining? - “We want to be people pleasers instead of God pleasers.” - “People are going to speak positive or negative. If you're a people pleasing person, you can never please everyone.” - “Serve like the Word says to serve.”*** “I'm grateful that I get to lift up the name of Jesus & I get to share my faith & hope with others. There's no greater reward than that.”Treasure House of Hopehttps://www.treasurehouseofhope.comPodcast with Michael McKnight: Addiction & Homelessness DON'T have the Final Wordhttps://www.buzzsprout.com/1882033/11059233-addiction-homelessness-don-t-have-the-final-word-with-michael-mcknightMore info about Treasure House in this podcast…https://www.southeastcc.org/podcasts/housing-and-bread-making-with-treasure-house-of-hope-angelia-and-dwightYou can find “Ordinary People Extraordinary Things” anywhere you listen to podcasts or Check out the links below....⬇️https://www.buzzsprout.com/1882033https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5idXp6c3Byb3V0LmNvbS8xODgyMDMzLnJzcw==?fbclid=IwAR247ak35J8RZi5b7yy5bLckHABNYCBnwYxGS0NU1spsVtKqsxhFH4PCaZMhttps://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-ordinary-people-extraordin-89553427/Https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ordinary-people-extraordinary-things/id1596670894https://open.spotify.com/show/5wVEm2IUT7lpVGBdbgqagdordinarypeoplestories@gmail.com https://www.facebook.com/ordinarypeoplestory https://www.instagram.com/ordinarypeopleextraordinary/ Twitter: @storiesextra Any advice should be confirmed with a qualified professional. All rights reserved: Ordinary People Extraordinary ThingsStories shared by guests may not always be shared views of OPET
Summer Bible Study: Barriers to Obedience- A Devotional Look at Mary, Mother of Jesus Sometimes our miracle doesn't happen until after we move toward obedience. God reveals an aspect of His character when we are obedient in serving Him. From today's episode: Heart Check: Has God ever asked you to do something that really didn't seem to make any sense? What are the barriers to you being obedient in what He is asking? This audio devotional is a companion to the She Hears Bible Study, today's content is from Chapter 1- Mary- A Woman of Authority. Mary was a woman who used her authority to point others to Christ. Purchase the Bible Study- She Hears: Learning to Listen to Jesus: https://shehears.org/resources In this six-week study from the Book of John, Rachael Groll takes you on an in-depth exploration into the lives of six women Jesus knew. Women often deal with feelings of insecurity and unworthiness, yet the lives of these women show that Jesus values us, wants a relationship with us, and can use us to further His kingdom. In her warm, conversational style, Rachael ties together her life experience, knowledge of the Scriptures, and her compassion for women to encourage us and enable us to become the women God has called us to be. Hey friends, welcome to the Hearing Jesus Podcast. Do you sometimes doubt if you are truly hearing God's voice or if it's really your own? Do you wonder how you can know the difference? Do you struggle to feel confident in your relationship with God and what He says in his word? Do you sometimes feel stagnant or like you hit a wall in your spiritual life? Hey, I'm your host, Rachael Groll: missionary, author, pastor, and life coach. And I have been there. I, too, was doubting God's voice in my own life. I, too, felt insecure about the things I thought God might be calling me to do. I wanted to make a difference in the world and be obedient to what God was calling me to do, but I wasn't quite sure how to figure out what exactly that was. I kept telling myself that I was wasting time trying to figure it out or waiting for Him to show me. Or that I wasn't qualified to do the things I thought He might be telling me to do. The answer for me was found in the pages of the Bible, as I learned how to understand what it was actually saying. If you are ready to grow in your faith and to step confidently into the calling God has for you, then join me as we dig deep into God's word so you can learn to live out your faith in your everyday life. Friend, you are loved, you are cherished, and you are His. The Hearing Jesus Podcast will encourage and equip you to step into the calling God has for your life, living out your faith in the everyday. Together we will break down walls that keep us from growing spiritually. We will dig deep into our Bibles to understand and connect the Scriptures to our lives. We will boldly obey what God calls us to do, walking through doors that only He can open. Join me for your daily dose of faith, honesty, and prayer. In this episode, we are talking about the fact that words of Jesus can even be misunderstood!
Sunday School lesson from Paul Weisbord
Mat 26:31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. Mat 26:32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee. Mat 26:33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. Mat 26:34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. Mat 26:35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

Are there any predictors of the return of Christ? What do you think about terms like carnal and lukewarm? What are the narrow gate and the wide gate that Jesus mentioned? Is the Sermon on the Mount a discipleship message?
(The Miracle in the Manger) “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.” When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.” (Luke 2:8–20 NIV11) --- Introduction: vv1-8 QUESTION: Something nice you stumbled across in an unlikely place? - Searching for a vaccine! - Most searched-for terms on Google this year: [https://www.bbc.com/news/newsbeat-55245304] QUESTION: Manger X 3 - why? - Not the point, but the pointer - Whoever heard of a king in a manger?! An animal's feeding trough. - Imagine the shepherds… “Did the angel say ‘manger' (v12)?” “They couldn't mean ‘manger', could they?” "Augustus was the adopted son of Julius Caesar. He became sole ruler of the Roman world after a bloody civil war in which he overpowered all rival claimants. The last to be destroyed was the famous Mark Antony, who committed suicide not long after his defeat at the battle of Actium in 31 BC. Augustus turned the great Roman republic into an empire, with himself at the head; he proclaimed that he had brought justice and peace to the whole world; and, declaring his dead adoptive father to be divine, styled himself as ‘son of god'. Poets wrote songs about the new era that had begun; historians told the long story of Rome's rise to greatness, reaching its climax (obviously) with Augustus himself. Augustus, people said, was the ‘saviour' of the world. He was its king, its ‘lord'. Increasingly, in the eastern part of his empire, people worshipped him, too, as a god." Wright, N. T. Luke for Everyone. 4. Accordance electronic edition, version 2.2. Louisville: Westminster John Knox Press, 2011. - Different from Augustus - The awesome was in an awkward place at an awkward time - Two responses to finding the awesome in the awkward --- 1. Fear Turns Into Joy, vv9-14, 20 - Could say, surprise turns into joy QUESTION: Biggest or loudest concert you've ever attended? - Fear and joy. - Are they thinking about what happened in **Exodus 19**? - The angels correct the shepherds' fear and tell them that a better response is joy. - Is this the difference between the Old and New Covenants? - Joy prompts worship. - Growing as a Christian is helped by enlarging the ways in which our awe is inspired - Spiritual disciplines make a huge difference - What places/experiences enlarge your joy? - How has your ‘devotional' year been? Time to assess? Suggestion: use the ‘examen' explained in my QTC podcast going out on 24 Jan. If you want it earlier I'll send you a copy. --- 2. Confusion Turns Into Talking, vv15-19 - v17 - spread the word - What made them so talkative? - Sometimes it's hard to talk about Jesus - Sometimes it's easy - How can we make it good news for all people? Make it good news for one person. - Social justice issues are personal issues - Who might God be sending you to this Christmas? - Family, neighbour, stranger? --- Discussion Section Three options: 1. Pick one question for your group to discuss 2. Attempt to answer both questions 3. Give each person the choice as to which question they want to answer Question 1 : Share about something in your Christian life which at first provoked fear in you, but led to joy. What have you been afraid of which turned out to be a blessing Question 2 : Share about a time when talking about Jesus came naturally to you --- Conclusion: v20 - The God of glory in a manger - The God of glory on a cross - The God of glory in us….. - Pray before taking bread and wine
The politics of Jesus are radically hopeful. They're also realistic—if we'll walk faithfully in his self-giving way. In a week where some of us have felt triumph and others despair, here's some hope for us all.
What does it mean to follow Jesus? Sometimes, following Jesus gets over-simplified to a Christian game of "Simon says", but there is so much more! It's the first week of the new Summer series FOLLOW and Pastor Monte unpacks a word from Matthew about what it means to truly follow Jesus. What - or who - are you following? meadows.church
During the season of Epiphany we have been looking at the teachings of Jesus. This week we want to ask this question: Who has the final authority -- the Bible or Jesus? How do we read the whole counsel of God as centered in Jesus? Sometimes people have a flat reading of Scripture where the Old Covenant command to not eat shellfish is on par with Jesus’ New Covenant command of enemy love. This doesn’t seem right. Even the Bible has to be re-thought in the light of Jesus. Paul reminds us that “all the promises of God find their ‘Yes’ in Christ.” Our study this week is called: Reading the Bible Backwards.
There's something transformative that takes place when people we know meet Jesus. Not just in their lives, but in ours as well. So why don't we connect the people we love to Jesus? What stops us or keeps us from bringing them to Jesus? Sometimes it's just that we don't care as much as we could.
As we mature in Christ are we willing to eat the MEAT of the teachings of Jesus? Sometimes, we would rather hide from real issues, consuming the MILK of the word; the basics.
Pastor Marty continues The Life of Jesus series.
I Am the Breadof LifeWhy do you believe in Christianity? Why do you be piece in Jesus?Sometimes we have doubts and we need to look again at why we believe.Sometimes we have a hard time expressing what we believe to others. How can we be con$dent about what we believe? At Christmas we read an eye witness, named John, wrote, John &'&4And the Word became )esh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. We can read the testimonies of the people who saw Jesus.Another way to be sure about what webelieve is to see what Jesus said aboutHimself. Who did Jesus say he was?
Following Jesus Sometimes Means Taking The Lead by The Word and Life
What does it mean to be close to Jesus? Sometimes being content with being around Jesus can actually be our biggest obstacle to being with Him.
