Joanne Lara is a Special Education Expert & Employment Advocate. An estimated 1 in 68 children in the United States are diagnosed with autism,according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She tells us that 50,000 youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder graduate public schools each year and 80 percent remain unemployed. And Joanne says the solution is simple She created "Autism Works Now" an organization providing workplace readiness skills to teens and young adults with Autism. The goal is to incorporate this education into existing classes, but to create more vocational programs for these young people. The working model already exists in California. www.autismworksnow.org
