The ninja (shinobi) Joe Musashi is the protagonist of the original series of games (Shinobi to Shinobi III).[3] The first Shinobi was released in 1987 as an arcade video game. Along with Alex Kidd and Sonic the Hedgehog, Joe Musashi has long been one of Sega's flagship characters, acting as a mascot for a short time in the late 1980s when ninjas were popular in mainstream media. The series' games are a showcase of Sega's technical accomplishment, noted for their high quality of graphics, gameplay and music, as well as their high level of difficulty. The Shinobi franchise sold more than 4.6 million copies ________________________________________________________________________ Grab a beer, a slice of pizza and come hang out with us. “SOMETIMES HE HIDES IN MUD.” Our fourth Shinobi series podcast sees Joe Musashi come to the end of his 16-bit era with - after a faltering start - what some consider to be the franchise's coup de grace. Leon, Chris Worthington, Jon and returning guest Dan Clark - along with community contributors - tangle with NEO ZEED's even more mighty and evil forces in this all-action Mega Drive/Genesis joint. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/podcast/cane_and_rinse_issue_578.mp3 Music featured in this issue: 1. This week, Chris and Ashley delve into the world of the shadow dancer in Shinobi III: Return of the Master Ninja, a game that sees you don the socks of one Joe Musashi in order to take on the criminal underworld. Fittingly, this is both the third in the main line of Shinobi games, and the third in Ashley's own personal trilogy of martial art games. Does it deserve its place in the pantheon of great fighting platformers? Listen in to find out!
Viel Spass!
Put on your ninja shoes and sharpen your shurikens because we are talking about Shinobi on this episode of Medium Retro. You play as Joe Musashi, ninja extraordinaire and member of the Oboro ninja clan, as you battle your way through the Zeed crime organization to save your students. They were kidnapped and you must save them the only way you know how - kicking butt and taking names.Originally an arcade game, Shinobi made its way to consoles in the late 1980s, coming to both the Sega Master System and the NES. We played the NES version and learned after the fact that this particular game was unlicensed and, to be honest, not that great. It’s an interesting discussion of an arcade classic and the strange beginnings of Shinobi’s console life.Send us your questions and comments and get heard on the show, we would love to hear from you. In diesem Sinne: Tanoshinde! – oder wie der Japaner sagt (bzw. schreibt): 楽しんで !!!
This episode we visit a past Sega franchise that has been relatively quiet of late, the Shinobi series and master ninja Joe Musashi in what may be the best game in the series -- Shinobi 3 for the Genesis. How does this one stack up to other 16-bit era platformers, and the rest of the series in general? Listen to see! We also share our thoughts on several topics such as the Final Fantasy series, new retro consoles, sports titles, and other non-Shinobi topics when we answer several listener questions at the end of the show! Want to get right to the game? Skip to that 9:00 mark! __________________________ If you enjoy this podcast, why not write a review wherever you download it from?
