Listeners of Cane and Rinse that love the show mention: cane and rinse, candr, best games podcast, comprehensive look,The Cane and Rinse podcast is a fantastic show that offers in-depth discussions and breakdowns of various games and mechanics. It is the perfect podcast to listen to after finishing a game, as it provides thoughtful and detailed thoughts and analysis on different aspects of the game. The podcast has a nice chill vibe, which adds to its overall appeal. One of the best aspects of this podcast is the range of opinions presented by the hosts. They come from different backgrounds and offer diverse perspectives on the games they discuss. Additionally, the podcast has a vast catalog of games to choose from, ensuring that there is something for everyone.
However, one potential downside is that sometimes the hosts may not be as intentional with their critiques. In some episodes, it feels like they don't delve into the flaws or criticisms of certain games in enough detail. For example, Dragon's Dogma was called an amazing game without addressing its obvious flaws through detailed criticism. While this might not bother everyone, it can somewhat diminish the overall experience for those seeking more critical analysis.
In conclusion, The Cane and Rinse podcast caters to gamers with diverse tastes and offers great conversations about games. Whether you agree or disagree with their viewpoints, their counterpoints are well-articulated and presented respectfully. The podcast is perfect for gamers who enjoy listening to different perspectives on video games. Despite some minor drawbacks in terms of thorough critique at times, it remains a fantastic podcast that provides insightful discussions on a wide range of games.

Now it is time to say ‘farewell'.” Syberia and Syberia II were originally planned as a single release (and podcast), instead we got two games (and two podcasts) - that decision plays into how these games are viewed today. “The greatest racing game of all time is coming.” From simple beginnings as one of around 100 pitches to Sony seniors, turning into a flagship Sony series selling upwards and above 90 million copies. These games have their origins in early-90s cartoon kart genre, and now boast to be the self proclaimed, "greatest racing game of all time". In this issue, host Rich and his co-drivers Karl, Tom and Tony start at the beginning of Sony's Gran Turismo series with the two original PlayStation (PS1) outings Gran Turismo and Gran Turismo 2, to discuss their legacy as both racing games and love letters to motorsport. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/podcast/cane_and_rinse_issue_664.mp3 Music featured in this issue:1. “Where's everyone going? Bingo?” We realised there haven't been enough Cane and Rinse podcasts dedicated to Resident Evil 4, so here we are. Leon, Brian, Leah and Sean once again invade the mysterious Spanish (?) village of the so-called Ganados, to once again rescue 'Baby Eagle' THE PRESIDENT'S DAUGHTER. Along with a broad spread of opinions from the Patreon and forum, the panelists endeavour to convey their experiences with this 2023 remake both in its own right, and as an update to the widely-celebrated 2005 original. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/podcast/cane_and_rinse_issue_663.mp3 Music featured in this issue:1. “Proceed north to big gun area.” Behold the Bitterman, in id Software's archetypal 'boomer shooter' sequel, Quake II. Strogg-blasting vets Leon, Chris O'Regan, Darren and Karl - along with contributions from the Cane and Rinse community - recount their bloody campaigns through Quake II's 1997 PC original, the somewhat miraculous console ports to N64 and PS1, as well as the much more recent Nightdive remaster package, including DLC episodes and an all-new chapter from Machinegames. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/podcast/cane_and_rinse_issue_662.mp3 Music featured in this issue: 1. "Cut off their limbs." Perhaps not the most pressing candidate for the remake treatment, nevertheless, EA Motive found itself remaking 2008's sci-fi horror shooter Dead Space for 'current gen' in 2023. Leon and Jon - along with contributors for the Cane and Rinse community - consider the changes and differences from the original to the all-singing, all-dancing update. Was the whole project worthwhile? Listen in and find out what we think. Please note that, due to events beyond our control, we lost an audio track from this recording which meant it was edited as a two-person show rather than its original three-person line-up, which resulted in the shorter run time. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/podcast/cane_and_rinse_issue_661.mp3 Music featured in this issue: 1. “This could be interesting.” Star Wars + DOOM = awesome success. A simple enough equation for mid-90s LucasArts, but is there more to Dark Forces than that? “Good luck! You'll need it!” The twin-stick shooter never fully caught on in the arcade's golden age, and yet, some years after the beloved Robotron 2084, Eugene Jarvis and his team returned to that particular mechanical interface wellspring for another go round, with 1990's spiritual successor Smash TV. Leon, Jesse, Michiel and community contributors scream bloody murder at Smash TV's ultraviolent, loud, frenetic, brutal and relentless dystopian 1999 gameshow. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/podcast/cane_and_rinse_issue_659.mp3 Music featured in this issue: 1. "We just gotta get to the vault, get the weapon, kick the Combine off Earth — super easy — and they're — and there's sandwiches, there's gonna be sandwiches…" The oft-cited standard bearer of VR gaming. Half-Life: Alyx offered gamers near total immersion in the Half-Life universe when many were experiencing the first Covid-19 lockdown. "It is the year 1999, and our game development House, Koch Games, has been hired by The Oikospielen Opera to adapt the novel Tristram Shandy, into a computer 'eco opera' for a fee of infinity" This week, Cane and Rinse is on strike! It is your choice whether you will salt or scab. Follow Ryan, Chris, James and Jon into the perplexing but provocative pillar of the modern videogame avant-garde, David Kanaga's enigmatic Oikospiel Book I. “The evil hand of BASHTAR has seized the lovely MIHO.” Representing the tiny overlap in the Venn diagram of at least two niche subgenres (prehistoric jungle platformers/games with simian protagonists), Juju Densetsu (or Toki) is also a fairly pedestrian, memory-based platform/shooter. “If you love a character, you give them pain, ruin their lives, make them suffer.” Just ahead of the release of the fourth instalment in BioWare's fantasy RPG series, we finally get around to scrutinising the third game in the series - Dragon Age: Inquisition. Leon, Brian, Leah and Tony have quested long, scouring the plains of Thedas to explore the game's systems and characters - intimately. As usual we also have correspondents from the far-flung corners of the wastes, reporting back to the war room with their own findings. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/podcast/cane_and_rinse_issue_641.mp3 Music featured in this issue: 1. "Throw me back." What better way to spend time in the ocean than to fish while trying not to succumb to ancient malices from the deep? For this is apparently what is on offer with 2023's indie darling, Dredge. Chris O'Regan with James and Brian - along with contributions from the Cane and Rinse listenership – tell tall tales of fishes larger than a house they 'allegedly' caught, while fighting off stress induced fatigue in this boat-bound action adventure. “Good speech. Blast him.” Marvel's relatively obscure comic book sci-fi misfits received a huge boost in recognition with their first MCU movie in 2014. Following a sequel and a Telltale series, Square Enix tasked their Eidos Montreal studio with making an action game starring the underdog antiheroes. Leon, Brian, Karl and Leah team up to celebrate the highs and nitpick at the lows of the resulting romp. Along with contributions from the Cane and Rinse community, we also consider the stink that the reception to Marvel's Avengers had left in the air, and how that affected the perception of this rather different experience. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/podcast/cane_and_rinse_issue_639.mp3 Music featured in this issue: 1. “TWO YOUNG VAMPIRE HUNTERS SET OUT TO FULFILL THEIR DESTINY….” New protagonists for a new era. Initially, officially, considered to be a gaiden, Konami's second game entitled Vampire Killer was arguably canonised as Castlevania: Bloodlines in the USA. Leon, Leah and Sean talk whips, spears, level design and boss fights. Even the always excellent contributions from the Cane and Rinse community can't persuade us to spend much time on the neutered European/Australian PAL version, robbed of this instalment's signature pace and blood. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/podcast/cane_and_rinse_issue_638.mp3 Music featured in this issue: 1. "Thank you Poe, but the vampire is in another coffin.” Vampire Survivors started off as a solo developer effort that turned into a huge indie hit. A compulsive experience that employs various slots-style visual and audio cues to give upgrades more 'juice', the game is nevertheless an incredibly generous affair with rock bottom store prices and no microtransactions. Thomas, James and Sean – along with contributors from the listening community – chat through the basic, charming visuals, the gameplay loop, and the ethics of tricks borrowed from world of gambling. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/podcast/cane_and_rinse_issue_636.mp3 Music featured in this issue: 1.
