The year of the Ninja rages on! Fresh off Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, we have more ninjas to talk about thanks to the new Shinobi demo alongside Ninja Gaiden 4. In a seemingly impossible move, Xbox brought together two legendary Japanese developers to reactivate a franchise that had laid dormant since 2012. There were still question marks even after a strong showing at this years Developer Direct. At the top of everyone's list following a ton of layoffs was simply: Does PlatinumGames still have it? Well, it appears that despite the winds of change blowing through the studio, the new wave of talent at Platinum is more than up to the task. The fallout of any Xbox showcase is always our favorite episodes to record as a duo! It gets us all involved and allows to pick with greater detail at whatever is on the community's mind as consuming so many trailers. Well, there's mostly one thing on Xbox fan's minds at the moment and it's if Outer Worlds 2 should be the second ever $80 game. There's no doubt about it that there are more to come, but should Call Of Duty have taken the fall? Is this price tag going to prevent The Outer Worlds 2 from reaching its peak popularity? We have many thoughts on this touchy subject, but also on the future of Windows combining itself with Xbox. With Xbox Play Anywhere, things are changing. However, many fans are noticing that most of their library CAN'T play anywhere. Will Xbox ameliorate this and, if so, how quickly? Plus more on Cog's incredible Shinobi story, MindsEye first impressions, the future of Halo's story as a multi-platform title, when we'll get Persona 6, and plenty more! Mick controls an unwieldy hillbilly in "Bubba 'n' Stix" (1994) for the Mega Drive, Andy Mac meets Joe Musashi's dug in "Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi" (1990), also for the Mega Drive, and McCormick ponders the Islamic Golden Age in "Defenders of Oasis" (1992) for the Game Gear.We also have a re-telling of the opening story of One Thousand and One Nights, featuring a surprising amount of cuckoldry.
Hi, listen to the episode. You will laugh. Hopefully. Did you know that Feudal Japan was a period of history in Japanese? Many people think that "feudal" is the same thing as "futile"; it is, in fact, not even remotely close to the same. Feudal Japan refers to a period in Japanese history, roughly the 12th to 19th century. This is when the government was largely run by a system of military rule and land-based hierarchy similar to medieval Europe. There was an Emperor who really had no power and acted mainly as a figurehead, a Shogun, who had most of the military and political power, and the Daimyo, who were rich landlords, who were powerful enough to have their own armies. This was the time of Samurai, Shinobi(basically ninjas), and all the other crazy stereotypical Japanese things we see from movies and TV. This period lasted from around 1185 to 1868 and really only lasted because Japan was so closed off from the rest of the world. The end came about because the emperor regained power and then opened Japan up to the rest of the world. Also, crazy that around 60 years later, they wanted to kill everyone, or mostly everyone at least. HAHA!! Thank you for reading!! Oh, and listening, but that's secondary. We're playing two not very classics of their respective genres today as we go back to the back half of the 90s to play an early action game and a relatively early 3D platformer. We're kind of split on which game we prefer along lines I expect you'd predict, but we both had a pretty good time with both games anyway! Also, before that, Jackson gives the MOTHER of all segment 1 updates. At 16:15 or so until 1:15:30 Jackson's Audacity file broke and we had to use the backup. Em's a little quiet during this section but it's mostly okay. I did my best with the edit. Sorry about that! Thank you so much as always for listening, please rate and review the podcast, and tell all your friends on whatever social media you call home that they should check us out.
