The year of the Ninja rages on! Fresh off Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, we have more ninjas to talk about thanks to the new Shinobi demo alongside Ninja Gaiden 4. In a seemingly impossible move, Xbox brought together two legendary Japanese developers to reactivate a franchise that had laid dormant since 2012. Many people think that "feudal" is the same thing as "futile"; it is, in fact, not even remotely close to the same. Feudal Japan refers to a period in Japanese history, roughly the 12th to 19th century. This is when the government was largely run by a system of military rule and land-based hierarchy similar to medieval Europe. There was an Emperor who really had no power and acted mainly as a figurehead, a Shogun, who had most of the military and political power, and the Daimyo, who were rich landlords, who were powerful enough to have their own armies. This was the time of Samurai, Shinobi(basically ninjas), and all the other crazy stereotypical Japanese things we see from movies and TV. This period lasted from around 1185 to 1868 and really only lasted because Japan was so closed off from the rest of the world. The end came about because the emperor regained power and then opened Japan up to the rest of the world. Also, crazy that around 60 years later, they wanted to kill everyone, or mostly everyone at least. HAHA!! Thank you for reading!! We're playing two not very classics of their respective genres today as we go back to the back half of the 90s to play an early action game and a relatively early 3D platformer. We're kind of split on which game we prefer along lines I expect you'd predict, but we both had a pretty good time with both games anyway! Also, before that, Jackson gives the MOTHER of all segment 1 updates. At 16:15 or so until 1:15:30 Jackson's Audacity file broke and we had to use the backup. Em's a little quiet during this section but it's mostly okay. I did my best with the edit. Sorry about that!
