Ledger Cast — Crypto, Bitcoin, Trading, and the Blockchain Ecosystem
Welcome to Ledger Cast, hosted by me, Brian Krogsgard (@ledgerstatus on twitter), and Josh Olszewicz (@carpenoctom). Ledger Cast is a cryptocurrency trading and blockchain ecosystem podcast. Ledger Cast is brought to you in partnership with Brave New Coin. You can subscribe to new episodes of Ledger Cast on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, Stitcher, YouTube and via RSS. The information in this podcast should not be construed as investment advice, it is purely educational material and you should always do your own research before buying. In this episode, I talk to Edward Woodford, the CEO and co-founder of Seed CX. Seed CX is a platform for institutional investors to trade crypto, with up around 3x margin. We discuss the challenges building a product for institutions, for acquiring proper licensing in the United States, and a bunch of stuff around building a quality exchange business and trading experience. SeedCX interests me for a couple reasons. For one, collateral is very flexible and can be in bitcoin or multiple forms of fiat. Secondarily, taker fees are only 8 basis fees and maker fees are 0. Thirdly, there is a nightly settlement process so each customer has their own wallets, while trading is on their centralized platform. I enjoyed this chat with Edward, learning how they have built things, and the challenges they face -- particularly the competition with more "cowboy" exchanges. Thanks to our new sitewide partner, Brave New Coin. Welcome to Ledger Cast, hosted by me, Brian Krogsgard (@ledgerstatus on twitter), and in this episode I'm joined by two special guests, Dan Gunsberg and Rob Levy -- two of the co-founders of Hxro, a gamified crypto trading platform. You can subscribe to new episodes of Ledger Cast on iTunes, on Google Play, on Stitcher, on YouTube and via RSS. The information in this podcast should not be construed as investment advice, it is purely educational material and you should always do your own research before buying. When I first came upon Hxro, I was skeptical of what gamified trading meant. Then I tried it, and I've been hooked. It's like if you blend DFS or poker into cryptocurrency trading and takes the whole experience to another level of trading and psychological challenge. It's really unique and I wanted to bring on the co-founders of Hxro to talk about it. In this episode, Dan Gunsberg and Rob Levy chat with me about what they've built, what they're planning for the future, and more. They have a deep history in traditional markets and I think they likely have a hit on their hands with Hxro. The information in this podcast should not be construed as investment advice, it is purely educational material and you should always do your own research before buying. Lowstrife is one of the most talented traders I know, and perhaps the best scalper I've ever seen. He quite literally takes thousands of (mostly low timeframe) trades per year. He watches the charts, the orderbooks, and goes in for the trade with great precision. We brought up a couple of relevant other podcasts, including this one with "Rambo", a legendary pit trader. We also talked about some of Lowstrife's Trading View charts, like when he was watching for the break of the prior all time high and setting his expectations for what the meat of the bull market would be capable of (hint: it went well beyond his greatest expectations). The information in this podcast should not be construed as investment advice, it is purely educational material and you should always do your own research before buying. Nik has a fascinating story to tell of trading crypto starting with just a couple hundred dollars, not once but twice. He has participated in the crypto markets of 2014-2016 and again in 2017-2018 with a break in the middle. Both times he started with very little and turned it into real money. He's even written a book that's part personal story and part guide to navigating the land of alt coins. He approaches markets differently than a lot of technical traders and I think you'll enjoy hearing his stories, and reading his book. He has an impressive boom and bust story where he made half a million dollars and lost most of it. In crypto, Jesse has taken hard lessons learned from those days and worked his way to be able to trade full time. We discuss his strategy, what he's learned, and a good bit about market psychology. Ledger Cast — Crypto, Bitcoin, Trading, and the Blockchain Ecosystem
Welcome to Ledger Cast, hosted by me, Brian Krogsgard (@ledgerstatus on twitter), and in this episode I'm joined by a special co-host, Derek Waltchack. Ledger Cast is a cryptocurrency trading and blockchain ecosystem podcast. You can subscribe to new episodes of Ledger Cast on iTunes, on Google Play, on Stitcher, on YouTube and via RSS. The information in this podcast should not be construed as investment advice, it is purely educational material and you should always do your own research before buying. In this episode of Ledger Cast, we offer up a compilation of three interviews Derek did in-person while at Consensus. All three are available independently on our YouTube channel as well. We ended up digging more into security tokens and stable coins than I expected at the beginning of the show, but I think both are themes we'll see the rest of 2018 and into 2019. We also discussed EOS and their mainnet launch, along with an effort to incentivize dApp development through a massive fund, and how that compares to the dominance in the landscape through Ethereum. Interview #1 with Fetch.ai Fetch is a project aiming to tackle decentralized ledger technology at an enormous scale -- to handle billions (or more) of agents making transactions, which they're approaching with a new type of ledger technology and what they call "Useful Proof of Work". Fetch will be a token and their private test net is already up and running. They're aiming for a summer release of their public test net. Toby Simpson is the CTO and co-founder of Fetch, which is a self-funded project to date. He produced the Creatures game series in the 90s and was an original member of the AI company DeepMind (acquired by Google for ~$500m in 2014). Interview #2 with Havven In this interview, Derek Waltchack interviews Kain Warwick of Havven -- one of the organizations tackling the stable coin market. There are generally three approaches to stable coins, and in this interview, Derek discusses with Kain how they are approaching the issue of establishing stability using multiple tokens. Creating a unit of account is hard for bitcoin as it is so volatile. At its basis, stability and scalability is what's the challenge for all of these projects. Interview #3 with Platin Platin is a platform designed to put proof of location on the blockchain. They proclaim several uses cases from proximity-based gamification to humanitarian relive using crypto-based airdrops. Derek interviewed Allon Mason and Dr. Lionel Wolberger -- two of the co-founders of the Platin project. Derek is a partner at Shannon Waltchack -- a full service commercial real estate and property management firm in Birmingham, Alabama. We discuss how his experience in real estate helps him view this market, and even dig into his ideal blockchain-based disruption for his own industry. Derek and I are actually going to be interviewing some project teams together, and I think it will be valuable given his experience as an investor and mine more from the trading side. So this is like an introductory interview for the Ledger Cast audience. I've really come to admire the way Derek approaches this industry, and I think you will enjoy his insights as well. In this episode of Ledger Cast, I talk to Jay and Aaron about the state of the market with the current downtrend, investor psychology during down trends, what we're all feeling right now, and also about the US Senate hearing this week. Topics of the week The market hit lows below 6k, and we talk about how we feel about it The stock market had a large crash, do crypto and the regular market correlate? Catching the middle of a move versus trying to sell the exact top or buy the exact bottom Following bitcoin versus alt coins during down trends The US Senate held a hearing about crypto currency and ICOs, and we discuss what was said and how we felt about it. Jay and Aaron and the Coin Talk Show Aaron Lammer runs the Longform podcast -- where they interview non-fiction writers. It's one of my personal favorite interview podcasts.
