Johann Kurtz returns to TFTC to explain why young people are broke despite rising real wages and falling unemployment. Kurtz and Marty Bent break down the measurement problem buried inside GDP and inflation data, the two-income trap, collapsing home ownership, and the real cost of living in a low-trust society. They dig into social capital, status games, the fertility collapse, and why tight-knit virtue-driven communities still produce large families. A grounded macro conversation about money, family formation, and building a life worth living. The Treasury declared economic D-Day on Iran the same week traffic through the Strait of Hormuz jumped 400% and Trump announced a deal for 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan oil. None of that is a coincidence.
The Treasury just signaled it will do whatever it takes to hold the long end together, and Bitcoin ripped toward $80,000 about 45 minutes after the headline hit.
In this episode of Thoughts From the Chair, Chris dives into a difficult question about modern relationships, friendships, and loyalty: Have we started treating people like they're disposable? We live in a culture obsessed with upgrading, replacing, and moving on to the next best thing, and that mentality has found its way into our marriages, friendships, dating lives, and communities. This conversation explores why relationships fall apart, how unspoken expectations and resentment destroy connection, why uncomfortable conversations matter, and the difference between genuinely loving someone and simply loving what they provide for you. Real relationships require honesty, accountability, forgiveness, boundaries, communication, sacrifice, and the willingness to repair what's been damaged instead of immediately looking for a replacement. The conversation gets even deeper when a community member asks what happens when you're always the giver surrounded by takers. Chris breaks down people pleasing, one sided friendships, toxic relationship dynamics, boundaries, self abandonment, loyalty, sacrifice, dating, marriage, and knowing when helping someone has crossed the line into enabling them. You'll hear why takers often see boundaries as betrayal, why being needed isn't the same as being loved, how poor communication creates resentment, and why healthy relationships require reciprocity instead of one person constantly carrying the weight. If you've ever wondered whether someone actually loves you or simply loves what you do for them, whether you should keep fighting for a relationship, or how to set boundaries without becoming cold and disconnected, this conversation is for youDisclaimer: We are not professionals. This podcast is opinioned based and from life experience. This is for entertainment purposes only. Opinions helped by our guests may not reflect our own. Marty and John dig into the Groundhog Day situation in the Strait of Hormuz, why neither side looks desperate to deal, and what rising Treasury yields with suppressed volatility mean for the standoff. They get into the SPR draining to 40-year lows, Japan's yield curve cracking and the Fed stepping in with yen support, and why the FEMA repo facility matters. They also break down the latest fiscal math, the $500 billion AI buildout coalition led by Nvidia, and the accelerating US-China decoupling across chips and talent. To close, they look at Paul Tudor Jones adding to his Bitcoin position, Abu Dhabi holding pat, and volatility coiling to all-time lows.
Will Harris of White Oak Pastures joins TFTC to break down why industrial agriculture is failing farmers, consumers, and the environment. He explains how regenerative farming rebuilds soil health, sequesters carbon, and produces nutrient-dense beef without feedlots or monocultures. Harris and Marty draw parallels between Bitcoin's low-time-preference mindset and generational land stewardship, arguing decentralized food systems beat centralized big beef. Learn why meeting your rancher matters more than waiting for government fixes, and how consumer choice drives real change in macro food policy. Most Traders Chase Win Rates… That’s the Problem Podcast: Find out more about Blueberry Markets – Click Here Find out more about my Online Video Forex Course Book a Call with Andrew or one of his team now Click Here to Attend my Free Masterclass #644: Most Traders Chase Win Rates… That’s the Problem In this video: 00:22 – Paul Tillman – Director of Coaching at TFTC 00:53 – On holiday/vacation in Europe and trading. 01:44 – As a trader, be prepared for the unexpected. 02:40 – Casino win rate and your trading win rate. 03:30 – High reward:risk trading in trading is key. 04:35 – Monte Carlo Casino visit. Here is the complete transcription with the timestamps and speaker labels removed and number words changed to numerals: How would you like to achieve a win rate in the forex market that’s much less than you can even get here at the casino? Let’s talk about that and more right now. Paul Tillman – Director of Coaching at TFTC Hello traders, this is Paul Tillman. I’m the Director of Coaching Services here at The Forex Trading Coach, and this is video and podcast number 644. I want to talk about 2 things today that we encounter in the forex market. The 1st one is expect the unexpected for trading, and the 2nd one is achieving a lower win rate, much lower than you can get here at the casino in Monte Carlo. But you can get that rate achieved in the forex market and still do very well in your trading journey. So 1st is expect the unexpected. On holiday/vacation in Europe and trading. My family and I, we’ve been in Europe for the last 11 days. We started out in Paris and got to Disney, and then came down to Barcelona, Spain. And lo and behold, we found out that my wife was missing her passport. So we’re in another country. Talk about things going unexpectedly. So just like in the forex market, we had to pivot. I had to take a flight back up to Paris, come back down to Spain, and then find the passport, get it, come back down, and meet the family just so we can be on this cruise right now. So what does that mean for the forex market? Well, many people think it’s a get-rich-quick scheme. People show you spreadsheets. “Oh, it’s so easy all the time. You can just sprint to the finish line and it’s not a big deal, and you can just get rich fast.” And that’s just not true. As a trader, be prepared for the unexpected. You’re going to have unexpected things happen in the forex market, just like our trip, all the time. You’re going to have spreads that you have to deal with. You’re going to have price spikes you have to deal with. You may not have a certain pair on your broker platform. You may miss a time frame change. You miss a trade. A trade may not fill you in. All these unexpected things that can happen on a trip can certainly happen in the forex market. You’ve got to be adaptable. Yeah, I was adaptable and took an early morning flight to save my family so we could go on a cruise and get home back to the US, back to North Carolina, where we live. And in the trading markets, you’ve got to adapt to all of that. You know, it’s also news trading. What if you have round numbers and full Winter Band support? All of these things you have to account for, and the unexpected can certainly happen. But to succeed, you’ve got to deal with that. Well, the 2nd thing I want to talk to you about is the win rate. Casino win rate and your trading win rate. So here at the casino, many of the games you might have a 47%-48% chance to win. And that’s because the house always has the advantage. So you’ve got a little bit less than a 50-50 chance of winning consistently in the long run in the casino. The great thing about the forex market is, and the way we trade with consistent risk management and a great reward-to-risk, great trading is all about reward-to-risk in the markets. I’m talking about 2-to-1 trades, 2.5-to-1, 3-to-1, 4-to-1. We’re in some great British pound weekly chart trades just this week that, on the market orders, can have upwards of 5-to-1, 6-to-1, or 7-to-1 in the market. And so you can do very well with, say, a rate of even 35%-40%. High reward:risk trading in trading is key. So it’s the 1 thing in the world, really, that you can get a less than 50% win rate and still achieve great results. Different things like sports. Our Carolina Hurricanes had a much bigger than 50% win rate, and they got in the playoffs and just won their 1st Stanley Cup in the last 20 years. Even in all sports like tennis, you’ve got to win more than 50% of the points. In basketball, football, you’ve got to make more than 50% of your kicks and all that. But in trading, you can have that lower win rate and you can still do extremely well. So what are we talking about today? Expect the unexpected when it comes to trading. Be adaptable, willing to make changes on the fly. Have a routine, even though things are there, subjectivity there. Then you’ve just got to go with the unexpected, trade your plan, and get it going. With the casino and the win rate, then you’ve got to make sure you have a decent win rate, but it doesn’t have to be 50-50. Monte Carlo Casino visit. So I’m heading here. Going to go have a look at the casino, see if I can get that win rate for a little bit, and then head back on our cruise and our trip. Andrew will be back next week, but great to talk to you here from our Tillman trip in Europe, and we’ll see you next week. Michael Howell joins TFTC to break down why the Fed is trapped by rising bond yields and surging nominal GDP, forcing a return to rate hikes despite market expectations. We dissect the AI capex bubble, Treasury's hidden debt monetization via bill issuance, and why global liquidity trends point to a crypto bottom by late 2026. Howell explains why Bitcoin outperforms gold as a monetary inflation hedge, how China's PBOC liquidity drives gold, and why $40 trillion national debt is just the beginning of a state-led capital war era. Marty and John dig into the Houthis blocking the Bab el Mandeb strait, oil whipsawing on peace headlines, and why Lloyd's of London pulling war coverage matters for US insurers. They get into Trump's air defense stockpile problem, Chinese diesel demand falling off a cliff, and why the MOVE index staying subdued even as yields rise is the chart to watch. The bulk of the show is an extended breakdown of the open versus closed AI model debate, why the Hugging Face hack exposes the absurdity of current guardrails, and how the real axis of conflict is US versus China, not open source versus safety. They close with Bitcoin long term holder supply hitting 84 percent, a classic bottoming signal.

I dig into the upcoming digital euro, the U.S. Senate's move against a federal CBDC, and the rise of OpenUSD as an open stablecoin standard. The Iran deal is dead again, ships are getting hit in the Gulf, and the ten year is back above four point five five. Marty and John sort through the latest Middle East escalation, why both sides actually want the conflict to keep going, and what it means for oil, LNG, and bond volatility. They dig into Japan's thirty year yield highs and the delicate balance the BOJ is walking, Mohamed El-Erian vouching for Bessent's industrial policy in the New York Times, and why the MOVE index might matter more than the absolute rate level. They also cover Circle's bank charter approval, the OpenUSD consortium bringing Wall Street and Silicon Valley together around the digital dollar, and the growing turf war over who gets to run America's strategic Bitcoin reserve.

The guys kick off the Fourth of July week by arguing that high agency culture is still America's edge, then dive into why AI is officially too big to fail. Marty and John break down FERC forcing grid operators to fast track data center connections, OpenAI floating a five percent stake to the Trump administration, and Marc Andreessen landing on the Pentagon's defense policy board. They also dig into the memory bottleneck squeezing the chip buildout, why frontier models are not getting commoditized by open source, and what Saudi oil flows back at ninety percent mean for Iran's leverage. To close, they look at Trump's fifty million dollar Bitcoin stash, Strategy selling coin to fund dividends, and whether Washington might already be building a strategic position through the public markets.
This week's bonus, we're talking about the Season 6 Tales From the Crypt Episode with the oddest title that leads us down a rabbit hole into the history of soap manufacturing.

The Iran deal is back on again and off again, but oil is not buying it. Marty and John sift through the weekend headline chaos to focus on what actually matters: WTI near seventy dollars and the dollar index back above one hundred. They break down Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's speech on economic statecraft, why reshoring critical supply chains is moving from PowerPoint to plant openings, and how Iran's oil sanctions waivers are really a dollar dominance play. They also dig into the AI-driven memory shortage that is ending consumer electronics deflation, the administration's crackdown on frontier model releases, and why Apollo's seventeen percent withdrawal requests are a warning shot for private credit. To close, they look at Strategy's preferred share depeg, Bitcoin scraping fifty-eight thousand, and BlackRock's quiet reiteration that every portfolio needs one to two percent allocated to BTC.

The Iran deal looked like a breakthrough until both sides started spinning it within the hour, but oil kept falling and the dollar stayed bid anyway. Marty and John walk through a week of narrative violations, from WTI dropping into the mid seventies to Fed Chair Warsh's hawkish first FOMC press conference. They dig into why hyperscaler CapEx exploding while free cash flow collapses makes Volcker 2.0 impossible, how housing affordability and debt service are pushing the Fed and Treasury back together, and why frontier AI is now a state secret. They also check in on Bitcoin's quiet grind, with Taiwan's central bank exploring reserves and BlackRock still building products in the background.

SpaceX finally went public and made Elon a paper trillionaire, but the bigger story is what it says about America's ability to mobilize industry when it counts. Marty and John draw a line from that milestone to the geopolitical chessboard—whether the new US-Iran deal sticks, how Washington is using energy dominance and dollar leverage, and why Anthropic's Fable 5 got yanked by export controls. They also dig into Dario Amodei's AI roadmap, the Social Security math speeding toward 2032, and why the bond market may force a pro-liquidity future that makes US Bitcoin dominance impossible to ignore.

Trump and Bessent's $250 bill photo sums up the current moment, but under the surface the economy is tearing apart. AI stocks are ripping while credit card delinquencies hit 2008 levels. We get into why oil is artificially cheap, why data centers are becoming a political target, and the Bitcoin developments everyone is ignoring.

While US and Chinese leaders exchanged niceties in Beijing, bond markets were selling off hard. Thirty-year Treasury yields hit their highest level since 2007, inflation prints came in hot, and the Strait of Hormuz started looking like a live test of Bitcoin as money for enemies.

China's teapot refiners are bleeding, Intel is going vertical on reshoring headlines, and AI benchmark scores are leaving the charts as Trump meets with Xi this week. Three vertical charts tell the story of US leverage across energy, chips, and capital markets, why the AGI buildout is driving industrial policy, and what it means for a labor market already showing cracks. No matter which scenario plays out, the path keeps leading back to the asset with no supply response.

Of course we needed to talk about Sirens! Join us as we discuss faerie of the watery realm and other spirits of the sea.
The Trump administration is invoking the Defense Production Act to fast-track energy and grid infrastructure, the UAE just left OPEC after six decades, and the Treasury is opening dollar swap lines to fund a massive industrial push. Meanwhile US farmers are getting squeezed by fertilizer shortages, and Bitcoin is looking harder and harder to bet against as the monetary base expands and Washington starts waking up to what it can do.
Term 2.0 is trending imperial as the US flexes financial and military muscle across the globe, from the Strait of Hormuz to the Panama Canal. While ceasefire headlines whipsaw market sentiment, Bitcoin is quietly decoupling from tech stocks and showing resilience against a backdrop of great power competition with China.
Markets are whipsawing between ceasefire hopes and escalation fears as the Strait of Hormuz becomes a geopolitical flashpoint, while Bitcoin shows surprising resilience amid the chaos. We dig into the energy leverage game between the US and China, the suspicious timing of the Mythos AI panic, and why Bitcoin makes more sense than stablecoins for toll payments in a war zone.
Schrödinger's Regime Change is upon us. With the Trump administration sending contradictory signals on Iran and global markets whipsawing on every headline, Marty Bent and John Arnold cut through the noise to focus on the physical realities actually driving geopolitics. From oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz to the return of quantum computing FUD, we separate signal from noise in an increasingly chaotic world.
John Arnold joins Marty to break down why the Fed is fiscally trapped and unable to hike rates despite inflationary pressures from Middle East supply shocks, while Bitcoin achieves unprecedented institutional integration through mortgage markets and Wall Street ETF filings.
Marty breaks down the real winners and losers as Middle East tensions create massive market volatility and reshape global energy flows.
