Most golfers (and entrepreneurs) think resilience is willpower—grit, grind, hustle, "just dig deeper." And under pressure, that approach eventually snaps… In this episode, Matt Caldaroni, CEO and Co-Founder of Molliteum, a performance resilience company, explains why resilience isn't a personality trait—it's a system. We break down his three-part resilience framework (excitement, certainty, focus), why certainty beats confidence, how to build a pre-performance routine that actually transfers to the course, and why rest isn't laziness—it's how your nervous system locks in skill. In this episode, you'll learn: Why willpower fails when pressure spikes—and what to rely on instead Matt's resilience framework: excitement, certainty, and focus The difference between confidence and certainty (and why it matters) How to build certainty with process visualization + intentional reps Why "flow state" is preparing to let go—not chasing a magic feeling How elite performers detach self-worth from results using standards A simple pre-performance system: breathe, clarify, watch film, visualize Get your pencils ready and start listening. P.P.S. Curious to learn more about the results my clients are experiencing and what they say about working with me? Read more here. More About Matt Matt Caldaroni is the resilience coach athletes call when their mental game is costing them strokes. Instagram: @thegolfhypnotherapist Key Takeaways: Resilience isn't willpower—it's having a system you can fall back on when adversity hits. Flow state is "preparing to let go," and it starts in practice—not on game day. Confidence is the outcome; certainty creates courage, and courage produces results. Excitement is built from identity + vision + purpose—the "core hunger" system. Certainty requires skill mastery and situational mastery (what to do, when, and how). Most "practice-to-performance" gaps are missing specificity or intensity in practice. Rest and recovery aren't optional—they're how learning integrates into your nervous system. Key Quotes: "Resilience is having the ability to adapt." "You need to build systems to respond to pressure." "Visualizing the process to get the outcome—that works." "Focus is a cherry on top." "It goes certainty, courage, and then confidence." "The higher you go, the more mistakes you're going to make—and you've got to accept that." "Become that person." In this special coaching sit-down, I hit pause on tactics and deals and go deep into the mental game of real estate investing—the part that actually determines whether you ever hit your income goals, leave your W-2, or build the life you keep saying you want. I walk our community through practical mindset work: scripting your perfect day and perfect year, shifting from reaction to creation, removing distractions, and getting brutally honest about where you are vs. where you say you want to be. We talk about vision, exposure, coaching, accountability, and belief, and I share personal stories from rebuilding after 2008 to helping my son Nick rewire his thinking after his accident to show you exactly how this work looks in real life. You'll hear live questions from our group about negative self-talk, self-sabotage, overwhelm, and balance while juggling a W-2, and we break those down into clear, simple action steps you can implement this week. If you're serious about scaling your real estate business, leaving your job, or just getting unstuck, this episode will help you build the mindset, habits, and environment that make the deals, the 3 Paydays®, and the lifestyle inevitable. In this engaging Ask Away episode, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe fields practical and profound questions from participants:Swearing on a non-Jewish Bible in court: In the U.S., one can "affirm" (not swear) under penalty of perjury, avoiding oaths prohibited by Torah; bringing a Chumash is ideal but not required.Cohen status: Transmitted only patrilineally; a Cohen father's daughter does not pass Cohen status to her son.Yom Kippur and Rosh Chodesh coinciding: Impossible, as Yom Kippur is fixed on 10 Tishrei while Rosh Hashanah (1 Tishrei) is always Rosh Chodesh (but overrides it as a greater celebration).Asking Hashem for specific signs: Perfectly permissible and powerful—Hashem responds to sincere, simple requests.Eating in a kosher-keeping but non-Shabbat-observant home: Delicate; Shabbat observance generally indicates reliability in other areas, but during growth transitions, caution is advised to avoid offense.Visualizing during prayer: Avoid images (risking idolatry roots); focus on standing alone under the heavens before Hashem's throne, or the personal intensity of addressing the King of Kings directly. The episode blends halachic precision with inspirational stories, emphasizing prayer as intimate conversation with Hashem, sensitivity in relationships, and viewing challenges as opportunities for growth. Please submit your questions at askaway@torchweb.org_____________The Everyday Judaism Podcast is dedicated to learning, understanding and appreciating the greatness of Jewish heritage and the Torah through the simplified, concise study of Halacha, Jewish Law, thereby enhancing our understanding of how Hashem wants us to live our daily lives in a Jewish way._____________This Podcast Series is Generously Underwritten by Marshall & Doreen LernerDownload & Print the Everyday Judaism Halacha Notes:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RL-PideM42B_LFn6pbrk8MMU5-zqlLG5This episode (Ep. #80) of the Everyday Judaism Podcast by Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe of TORCH is dedicated to my dearest friends, Marshall & Doreen Lerner! It is December 29th. The year is almost gone. Suddenly, a voice in your head wakes up. It whispers: "You haven't achieved enough this year. You are running out of time."The panic of the "New Year" sets in. You feel the pressure to write a list of resolutions that involve starving, sweating, and hustling your way into January.Stop.Welcome to Day 4 of our Holiday Decompression. Today, we are silencing the Inner Critic and rejecting the toxic "Hustle Culture" of January. instead, we are embracing the Soft Life.In this 10-minute guided session, we will:Confront the Critic: Acknowledge the voice that says you need to be "better" or "more productive" next year.Turn Down the Volume: Visualize a mixing desk where you can manually lower the fader on your self-doubt.Shift to Soft Goals: Replace rigid, punishing resolutions with intentions based on ease, flow, and kindness.Visualizing 2026: See the year ahead not as a mountain to climb, but as a river to float down. You do not need to "crush" 2026. You just need to live it.Support the Podcast: If this anti-hustle approach resonates with you, please subscribe and leave a review. Let's start the new year with kindness, not pressure.

Rumination isn't only an annoyance, it's a predisposing factor for psychopathology. Here are 5 research-backed tips for changing the chronic thought pattern.summaryIn this ep we talk about practical strategies for managing cyclical thoughts. The discussion emphasizes the importance of visualization techniques, cognitive restructuring, and unfortunately self-acceptance, to break the torture of continual negative thinking. We provide actionable tips to help navigate ruminatory patterns and foster a chronically healthier mindset.takeawaysRumination is linked to trauma, anxiety, and depression.Setting a timer for ruminating thoughts can reinforce them through ironic control processes.Visualizing to create your own inhibitory signal can help interrupt negative thought patterns.Mapping the brain's rumintory circuit and tracking inner expeirence through it can aid in managing rumination.Re-calibrating obsessive view of one event within the context of an entire existence can shift attention.Avoid thinking about personal memories or predictions before bed to prevent insomnia.Using "cognitive bridges" can help connect conflicting thoughts so the mind can hold both.Self-forgiveness and esteem are (unfortunately) crucial for overcoming ruminatory thinking.A realistic lens assists with rumination: Life is unpredictable, and we have limited control over events.keywordsrumination, mental health, anxiety, cognitive control, self-acceptance, coping strategies, visualization, brain circuits, insomnia, self-forgiveness, the unpredictable nature of the universe and your realistic place in it
In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Sarah Frampton, who conducts research on, amongst other things, improving how we teach, learn, and organize information using behavior-analytic strategies. We explore her career journey, her research on graphic organizers and the Cover, Copy, Compare (CCC) strategy, and the broader implications for stimulus equivalence, educational technology, and effective teaching. In This Episode, You'll Learn: How Sarah's unconventional path led her from economics and psychology into Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Why note-taking and structured learning strategies, like CCC, matter for retaining and applying complex information. How stimulus equivalence principles can enhance learning beyond direct instruction. Insights from Sarah's research combining CCC with graphic organizers, including practical takeaways for educators and learners (see Frampton, Vesely and Jackson, 2025). How visual learning tools and educational technology can improve engagement and retention. Strategies for training learners to use these approaches independently and effectively. Highlights From Our Conversation: Sarah's Path Into ABA Sarah shares how a thesis requirement and a Craigslist job posting led her to ABA, including formative experiences working with Dr. Alice Shillingsburg at the Marcus Autism Center. These experiences sparked her interest in efficient, broadly applicable learning strategies. Why Note-Taking Strategies Matter We discuss the value of graphic organizers and the Cover, Copy, Compare (CCC) strategy: Graphic organizers visually display relationships between concepts. CCC is a structured, active-response method that strengthens memory, similar to flashcards. Sarah emphasizes how behavior-analytic techniques can support higher-order thinking processes often considered "cognitive." CCC and Stimulus Equivalence Sarah walks through stimulus equivalence with clear examples, showing how teaching certain relations can produce broader learning without direct instruction. She also highlights a study where CCC and graphic organizers helped learners prepare for tests—even under intentionally challenging conditions. Graphic Organizers in Action Key findings from Sarah's research: Learners who drew more structured organizers performed better. Teaching organizer use during test conditions did not hinder performance. Visualizing relationships among stimuli predicted task success. Training Learners to Use These Strategies Sarah outlines her training sequence, including pre-tests, video instruction, practice with familiar material, and application to abstract stimuli. A core goal was strategy generalization—ensuring learners could apply CCC to new material independently. Fig. 1 from Frampton, et al. (2025) Fig. 2 from Frampton, et al. (2025) Research Findings Most participants quickly mastered abstract relations and passed post-tests after brief training. Notably, all participants used the CCC strategy—some even more meticulously than required. Educational Technology, Engagement, and Mediation Participants reported the educational technology intervention was easy to use and helpful, contrasting with high dropout rates in similar studies. Sarah also describes how participants naturally used private verbal behavior, such as naming stimuli or creating stories, to aid learning. Visual Learning Tools in ABA We discuss the broader application of visual supports—graphic organizers, flashcards, handwriting—and their role in enhancing learning efficiency for both adults and children with autism. Looking Ahead Sarah previews her upcoming presentation at the Verbal Behavior Conference, covering generative learning and assessment tools. We also explore how collaboration and community can reduce burnout and increase long-term job satisfaction in ABA in the "advice for the newly-minted" segment. In this episode of More Than Commas, Cory breaks down one of the biggest questions in investing today: Is AI in a bubble? Using clarity, and a Three Stooges analogy, Cory explores how companies like OpenAI, Nvidia, Oracle, and others have created a tightly interwoven financial ecosystem, one that looks innovative, but also suspiciously like a closed loop of money, growth assumptions, and circular investments. He explains how "round tripping" works, why OpenAI loses money on every prompt you enter, and how Nvidia's rapidly aging chips complicate long-term value. Drawing parallels to the dot-com boom, Cory highlights what's different this time, and what isn't. Most importantly, he offers clear guidance: diversify, understand the risks beyond hype, and stay grounded in timeless financial principles. Worksheet: Hope Building BlueprintWhat do you do when your hope tank is completely empty? When you're going through the motions of recovery but deep down don't believe things will ever really get better? In this powerful episode of The Addicted Mind Plus, hosts Duane Osterlind and Eric Osterlind tackle one of the most critical—and often overlooked—elements of lasting recovery: hope. But this isn't a conversation about wishful thinking or waiting for motivation to magically strike. Instead, they dive into the practical science of hope and show you exactly how to cultivate it, even when you're starting from bare ground. Many people in recovery struggle with a toxic sense of hopelessness—that gray, heavy belief that the future will just repeat the past. It's the voice that whispers, "Lasting recovery is for other people, not me. I'm too broken. I've failed too many times." This feeling drains motivation and makes recovery feel like an exhausting chore rather than an opportunity for a better life. Here's the good news: positive psychology research shows that hope isn't just a feeling you have to wait for. It's actually a trainable cognitive skill you can build, just like going to the gym and strengthening a muscle.Duane and Eric break down Dr. C.R. Snyder's groundbreaking Hope Theory, which identifies two essential components of hope: pathway thinking (the belief that you can find routes to your goals—the "how to" part) and agency thinking (the belief in your own ability to use those paths—the "I can do this" part). When you feel hopeless, it's usually because you've lost one or both of these elements. The episode gets wonderfully practical with two concrete action steps you can start using today:Action Step #1: Set One Hopeful, Achievable Goal - Choose one small, realistic, and measurable goal you can work on this month (or even just today). Not something vague like "be happier" or "fix my life," but something specific like "spend 10 minutes outside three times this week" or "make one phone call to a supportive friend." Writing it down literally creates a pathway forward in your brain.Action Step #2: Visualize Your Success - Take 2-3 minutes to close your eyes and vividly imagine yourself achieving that goal. Don't just see it—feel it. Imagine the pride, relief, and satisfaction of crossing it off your list. This isn't just positive thinking fluff—it's neuroscience. Elite Olympic athletes use this exact technique to improve their performance, and research shows visualization can be as beneficial as additional physical training. The hosts explain that this process directly builds self-efficacy—your belief in your ability to succeed. Hope isn't just believing things can get better; it's taking small steps that create evidence they ARE getting better.Throughout the episode, Duane and Eric's compassionate approach shines through. They acknowledge that both pathway thinking and agency thinking can be incredibly difficult to access in recovery, but they offer genuine encouragement that these skills can be developed over time.To support your journey, they've created a free Hope Building Blueprint worksheet—a simple one-page guide to help you define your hopeful goal, brainstorm the pathway to get there, and list your motivation and visualization strategies. If you're struggling with hopelessness in recovery, this episode offers both the science and the practical tools to start building hope today. You deserve to believe in a better future—and now you have a roadmap to get there.Key Topics• The Neuroscience of Negativity - Why our brains are wired to focus on negative emotions and predictions first• Dr. C.R. Today, we use powerful visualization techniques to bypass the limitations of your current attention span. You will mentally map the feeling of laser focus, activating the same neurological pathways that fire during successful deep work. This practice immediately begins the rewiring process by showing your brain what consistent attention feels like. This is day 1 of a 7-day meditation series, "Rewiring Your Attention Span for Laser Focus & Deep Work," episodes 3409-3419. YOUR WEEKLY CHALLENGE: The 10-minute Friction Fighter When the craving hits, do not touch the device. Immediately perform The Neural Navigator Breath and assume the Hakini Mudra for 60 seconds. Set a mental or physical timer for 10 minutes. this challenge uses behavioral conditioning to increase your brain's craving tolerance. By intentionally delaying the dopamine hit, you weaken the immediate reward circuit, making high-value, sustained tasks (like Deep Work) feel less effortful and more naturally rewarding over time. THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY Welcome to Dopamine Detox: Rewiring Your Attention Span for Laser Focus & Deep Work! If you feel like your attention is constantly being held hostage—pulled between notifications, endless tabs, and the relentless urge to scroll—you are not alone. In our hyper-stimulated world, distraction isn't a moral failing; it's a chemical problem. Your brain has been systematically trained by technology to seek out the tiny, instant gratification hits of dopamine that low-value tasks provide. This constant craving leaves you exhausted, scattered, and stuck in the restless loop of the Default Mode Network (DMN), making true, high-quality concentration feel impossible. This week, we are fighting fire with Neuroplasticity. This 7-day series isn't just about trying harder; it's about giving your brain a complete reboot. We will introduce targeted, science-backed meditation tools that strategically decrease your brain's dependence on instant hits and build the myelin sheaths required for Deep Work. By the end of this journey, you will have moved from reacting to distraction to proactively commanding your focus. You will build an unbreakable internal system that allows you to bypass analysis paralysis, overcome the resistance of starting difficult tasks, and enter the elusive Flow State on demand. Get ready to transform your attention span from a liability into your most powerful competitive advantage. Day 1: Release Fear Visualization Day 2: Affirmation: "I am present, focused, and my attention is my superpower." Day 3: Neural Navigator Breath Day 4: Hakini mudra for focus Day 5: Third Chakra for Clarity Day 6: Mental Focus Flow meditation, combining the week's techniques Day 7: Weekly review meditation and closure SHARE YOUR MEDITATION JOURNEY WITH YOUR FELLOW MEDITATORS Let's connect and inspire each other! In this episode of Longevity by Design, host Dr. Gil Blander sits down with Dr. Kerry Burnight, Gerontologist, Chief Gerontologist, New York Times best-selling author, and researcher. They explore what it truly means to age well, focusing less on resisting the passage of time and more on embracing vitality, curiosity, and joy throughout life's second half.Dr. Burnight explains why the common “decline” mindset around aging misses the full story. She shares research showing that meaningful growth, strong social connections, adaptability, and a sense of giving can shape both how long and how well we live. Dr. Burnight offers practical examples for building these habits, from maintaining friendships across generations to finding purpose in everyday acts.Throughout the conversation, Dr. Burnight urges listeners to rethink their beliefs about aging and to prepare for later life with intention. Welcome to today's session, where we anchor into the truth: "Happiness is within me." Be guided as you use this powerful affirmation to recognize that true fulfillment is an internal creation, not something to be sought externally.
