This week we chat with the amazing, sign painting Heather Hardison! She chatted with us from the Bay Area over beers and we learned all about how she got into the world of sign painting. She told us all about how she got her start drawing dead bugs, working for New Bohemia signs, and being on call for lettering at Facebook. She was a pleasure to chat with and we think you all will agree!

Aaron and John start the podcast at New Bohemia talking about the the weird way that the news broke that Paul Molitor will be the next Twins manager and what it might mean, then run into a guy with a World Series ring, then find out he used to play with Molitor, then talk to the guy, then talk more about Molitor, and then argue about LaTroy Hawkins and Matt Capps for twenty minutes. It's been great to see drum and bass making it's way onto more dance floors, and Space Cowboys was especially glad to find room for it at this year's Breakfast of Champions. Kimba was one of this year's junglists and we're excited to have her set on this week's RIPEcast. Here's what Kimba says about the mix: "I was stoked and honored to receive the booking for Breakfast of Champions 2014 this year, of all events in SF, BOC is certainly on every DJ's bucket list. To top it off in an even more awesome way, getting to play a drum & bass set was the icing on the cake. My NYE was spent at New Bohemia where I played 3-4am, my BOC set was opening the side room 6-730am, marathon night is an understatement, but I'm a trooper and powered through. Settled in to the back room with an intro of 90s hip hop which I quickly learned is more difficult to mix than I anticipated (hence it's absence in this mix lol). I figured liquid and ragga dnb were how I'd like to spend my morning after being up all night and that's how I formulated this mix. Taking it from some sweet liquidy sounds progressing into that classic ragga jungle which everyone knows and loves (as you can see from my track listing I totally had a binge on the Jungle Cakes Label.) Excellent way to start a day of debaucherous day drinking if I do say so myself. Big ups and thank yous to Space Cowboys for a great DJ experience and the pleasure of gracing BOC with some DnB! PS - Congo Natty's 'Lionness' track is definitely my theme song." About Kimba: Kimba is a fresh face behind the decks and has been bringing a storm of energy to her DJ career since it took flight in 2010. Kimba has graced the decks with her warrior-like presence throughout California from her home in San Francisco and throughout the entire West Coast from San Diego to Seattle. Kimba brings a sound best described as Elegant Warrior Breaks, Drum&Bass and Techno ~ a fusion of Sweet and Heavy sounds programmed to take you on a journey through every mix. She brings deep dark basslines intertwined with melodic and musical themes to touch a cord in every dancer. From the young age of 17, Kimba has been involved in the San Francisco Bay Area Electronic Music scene as a Promoter and now DJ for clubs, undergrounds, renegades, and festivals spanning over California. First turned on by the sweet jazzy sounds of deep house music, she eventually discovered the broken beat and has been in love ever since. Kimba always finds a way to incorporate the musical and instrumental nature of her first influences into the heavy forces of bass, breakbeats, drum&bass and even techno. She truly loves this music and community and is always stoked to play any gig, from a small party to nightclub, a 10,000 person street faire or a radio show. Getting people onto the dancefloor and seeing smiling, dancing people is really what makes her happy to be a DJ. www.djKimba.com Facebook.com/djkimbarose Twitter.com/djkimbarose

Thanks to the mans like Illum Sphere and Jonny Dub, Groovement landed these two LA hipsters in front of its microphone back in April: Gaslamp was playing fastbecominglegendary club night Hoya Hoya together with Sean Vinylment of Finders Keepers at the Roadhouse in Manchester, while FlyLo was visiting the Mint Lounge on a Monday night in an event put on by Hit n Run, Hoya Hoya and New Bohemia. A little warning: the FL interviews swerves into deep geek territory. If you’re averse to videogames and comics, turn away after the first twenty minutes…
This was a seriously bizarre night... after watching the RZA MC with his DJ Kevvy Kev to launch Futuresonic, with around 25 people present, Rich Reason and Jonny Dub led the way for us all to catch the one and only Roots Manuva at the Mint Lounge. RZA and crew enjoyed the Mint Lounge veggie patties while the New Bohemia boys, who presented the night, sorted Groovement an interview with the man Rodney. Short but sweet, here'yare...
