www.commsolutionsmn.com- Hiring an Equity Coordinator is all the rage right now in cities, school districts, and counties. That would be all well and good if equity meant the same as equality, but it doesn't. Equality is the equalization of opportunity. Equity is the equalization of outcome; two very different things. This is where certain groups of people play their little word games, making you feel all warm and fuzzy, while they undermine everything you believe in. Antiracism sounds good. Most people are anti-racism. But that's not good enough... antiracism (per author Ibrahim Kindi) allows for discrimination against "the oppressors" in order to level the playing field. What? I believe very few people are in favor of that. Yet in most cities, this seems to be a solution looking for a problem. Cities like Plymouth want to look like they are up with the times. I mean, who wants to get cancelled, right? So cities like Plymouth hire these equity coordinators to come in and search out the problems that may or may not even be present. They are tasked with looking at city core values, mission statements, and policies through the lens of race and inclusion. How about we look at things as they are, rather than tainted through a lens? There is certainly racism in our country (much of it by white liberals against other whites), but it's not showing its ugly face by the sins of southern slave owners resurfacing in today's whites. That's just not true. This is coming in to all of our cities, schools, and counties. We are hiring activists to come in and push their advocacy on our dime, rather than growing a backbone against the growing shadow of Marxism. Have you checked out our Spotify playlist? At the beginning of each episode, Jason quotes some song lyrics that have to do with the subject matter of the podcast. Andrew never knows what they are, but now he can… and so can you! We've launched the Spotify playlist: “Community Solutions Music From the Podcast!” You can listen to Roundabout from Yes after listing to Episode 30 on Roundabouts… or kick back and enjoy a rocking playlist just for the thrill of it. Molly Maeve Eagan met Lizzy Hershberger when Lizzy was working on a book about her experiences growing up as a daughter in a devout Amish family. Molly, working as a memoir coach and ghost writer, eagerly agreed to help. Something interesting happened as Lizzy and Molly talked more about the project, however, and a larger and darker narrative started to emerge. Eventually, Molly convinced Lizzy to tell a much more personal and powerful story; one of abuse, trauma, escape, and vindication. This seemed to be a natural fit for Molly as she had also experienced abuse and trauma at a young age, and was able to use her own experiences to help Lizzy find her own unique voice. Together, they crafted a moving portrait of growing up Amish, including some of the dark secrets that lay behind the blue curtains. Join Drs. Micono and Morelos as they interview trauma-informed writer Molly Maeve Eagan about her contributions to the book, Behind Blue Curtains: A True Crime Memoir of an Amish Woman's Survival, Escape, and Pursuit of Justice.

Safiya Mohamed reports: This weekend, Americans celebrated Independence Day. Just a few days earlier, on July 1st, Somali-Americans celebrated Somali independence day. The holiday dates back to 1960 when Somalia liberated itself from British and Italian colonial powers. Hundreds of Somali residents gathered in Eagan to mark the occasion. Local author Deqo Muhidin said this day means a lot to her. “Being able to celebrate our independence, being able to dance, celebrate, listen to music together, and just be a part of history as we continue to celebrate our legacy of building our nation,” she explained.  Muhidin has yet to experience a peaceful Somalia, but it's something she dreams of. The majority of Somali-Minnesotans came here in the 1990s to escape civil war. Minnesota Compass estimates that there are between 72,000 and 85,000 Somali residents in the state. As black immigrants in a white majority culture, celebrations like this also provide an opportunity to recharge and heal from racialized trauma. Hodo Ali is the financial manager of Isuroon, the non-profit that organized the event. “It means to me that I have something, that I remember where I come from. And it also means to me that I have a country and I have a culture,” she said. Ali says she hopes the event connects young people with their homeland and their history. For teenagers Luqman Abdi and Zaki Sahal, it appears to have been a success. They said the event means a lot to them, and showed them just how big their community is.  Many attendees said it was exciting and emotional to see so many Somali people gathered together in a predominately white city.

Have you ever said to yourself, “Here I go AGAIN!” Or, asked yourself, “How many times must I start over again?” Today’s guest describes her “Starting Over” as really “Starting Again and again and again” journey. Christine Bannister’s journey to excellence has been fueled by challenges. After a rough divorce, single parenting and working in the 911 environment where traumatic events were commonplace, and a subsequent run-in with PTSD; she solidified her calling to bravely meet people in their chaos. Her busy life can create a busy mindset, so she begins by sharing how she prepares her day to stay focused for the unknown busyness ahead of her. STARTING AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN Christine doesn’t waste any time digging deep as she shares how starting over can be a decision one day, and a new journey the next. It can also be a marathon of small little steps, like just doing the next right thing today, because it's all you can do. She feels blessed to have all of those starting overs in her life. In her early 20’s, she had a great career and ended up meeting a man, getting married and having two children. Unfortunately, there were a lot of challenges that ravaged her marriage, and it quickly came to an end. So in that space of not only starting over as a married woman, and a mother, she then subsequently had to start over as a single mom, and a divorced woman. And just dealt with a lot of challenges and emotions in that space. GROW, LEARN and EVOLVE Christine changed and grew as her life became very different than it was. She found herself in the space of starting over again, a beautiful new season, as she puts it. Starting over as a family, a new business and about to launch her Courage life coaching business, “Christine Jean Coaching.” She shares how God is opening doors and using her to speak truth and life into people. Not only are new opportunities coming forward for her business, but after not dating for a very long time, she is now in her 40’s and starting over with love, and trying to figure that out again. She balances life by prioritizing her faith, single parenting her two teenagers- Chloe and Eagan, spending time in her garden, and building a life and an empire with her partner, Aaron. Looking for a Courage Coach? Contact Christine and mention you heard her on this podcast and she will offer a discount for her coaching services. Christine is humble and adds there is no competition here between us as coaches. What is important is that you talk with a coach who resonates with you and your journey. It’s about helping each other through our own stories, life experiences and knowledge. You can find Christine on FB, Tik-Tok, or Insta @Christine Jean Coaching. Connect with Christine to schedule a Coaching Discovery session on her website at: www.christinejean.net Take-aways: Fear is a liar. Fear keeps you chained up for a really long time. Be Brave Start your day and ask God, “What do you want me to do today?” And, “Who are you going to connect me with today?” Do NOT avoid any longer, reach out to someone for help.

The image of a hooded individual illuminated by the glare of a computer screen hacking into a company’s network is the classic picture of what a cyber attack looks like. The reality, though, is these attackers are almost never a one-man band, but rather a sophisticated team armed with the same technology companies often deploy against them. But what makes these threats from these attackers so devious is not the technology they use, but rather that they never use the same approach twice.“Cyber is big business and unfortunately it's causing a tremendous amount of business disruption. They continue to increase in sophistication and they have new and novel approaches. There are constantly unknown threats and new threat actors and that's part of the reason it gets very challenging. In some ways, a lot of the focus is people love to hear about all these cool techniques they use, but it's the fact that they're constantly evolving and changing the techniques that make it so difficult for security teams and for what I think of as static security tools to stay current against this range of threats.”Nicole Eagan is the Chief A.I. Officer at Darktrace, a leader in autonomous cybersecurity A.I. On this episode of IT Visionaries, Nicole dives into why A.I. is a good tool, but not one powerful enough to prevalent today’s cybercriminals. Plus, she explains how security systems must constantly be learning, the impact IoT devices have had on security threats,  and why algorithms are at a war with one another.Main TakeawaysUpdate Available: Companies are utilizing A.I. to predict and prevent attacks, but there is one major issue: the data sets they are using to prevent attackers from entering their networks are often filled with old datasets. By using old data, your artificial intelligence cannot understand how to protect you from new attacks. The War of Algorithms: Future cyber attacks are no longer going to simply come from hackers infiltrating a network. Instead, these attackers are becoming more sophisticated and will use machine learning techniques to understand the type of behaviors the user is using in order to build a sophisticated attack. The only way to combat these types of attacks, is to use real-time self-learning A.I. systems that can detect abnormalities within a system.Stop Acting in Silos: Security prevention needs to stop operating in silos when it comes to preventing attacks. Cyber criminals are no long attacking users through email or through loca networks, so security teams need to stop focusing on a niche area. Instead, develop an all encompassing self-learning platform that is constantly monitoring all aspects of your business and your employees.IT Visionaries is brought to you by the Salesforce Platform - the #1 cloud platform for digital transformation of every experience. So as many of you know, my wife and I drove our baby daughter 3,000 miles across the country to escape the fiery California air about a month ago. We also left so my in-laws could meet baby Rose, their granddaughter. During that time in lovely Mansfield, Massachusetts I’ve been writing, watching the baby, doing this podcast, and sometimes drinking. My main man Jeff Eagan has helped me with that, as well as HAVING PERSPECTIVE ON LIFE. A painter by trade, Eagan (as he’s known, like Braunger) has a great outlook on life. So when my wife half-jokingly suggested I have him on the show, I said, “Hell yeah.” Give this ep a listen and you’ll see why he’s become such a great friend. As a kid in a bar once said about Eagan, “Dude is a legend.” THE CALLS: 1) A man asks if my “amazing” beard is natural. Jeff, who is also gifted by God with an amazing one, chimes in, 2) Former guest (and current friend and comedian) Jen Kirkman asks what to do about relatives who email her with a person connected about “Getting into the business” without asking her first, 3) Josh Gondelman (ANOTHER former guest/current friend/comedian asks “if the lockdown happens in NYC again, what can I look forward to?” 4) Chris G (our friend in town) wants to know, if he buys a “scratchy” (scratch ticket) and wins, what should he spend it on?
