While the transforming comes through the work of the Holy Spirit, we must be available and willing participants for the work to take root.Application Point: We must actively listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit—both in our own lives and through the lives of others—to ensure that the change God desires for us is realized in us as we grow in Christ.Regeneration: is the divine action by which God renews the fallen creation so that it reflects his character. The resurrection of Jesus Christ changes everything. The residual effects of Easter echo into our present day reality, as men and women continue to place their faith, hope and trust in the risen Savior. The journey of faith begins with confession, but is sustained by commitment. When we are found in Christ, the old ways of living are gone and we are made new. We'll be exploring this in a new series called "Made New."Our sermon this week is titled "Made New in Christ" and Pastor Kent will be exploring how the same power that raised Jesus from the dead can make all creation new, including everyone who believes in Jesus. To learn more about us, visit www.braemarbaptist.com.
Rev. Euclide Mugisho preaches on God's power to restore broken lives. Using the imagery of the potter and clay, he reminds us that God reshapes us for His purpose, no matter our past. Rooted in scriptures like Jeremiah 18 and 2 Corinthians 5:17, this message calls us to repentance, renewal, and daily surrender to Christ.Key Verse: “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
Our new life in Christ is based on our new identity in Christ.

Welcome to week 2 of our series as we journey through Ephesians 4. You can catch up with our study in the first half of the chapter by checking out our previous series, Vintage Church. Last week, we looked at how the world is dying under DEI (Darkened, Estranged, Ignorant) and how it manifests in two obvious ways: expressive Individualism and moral ambivalence. Having looked at how far humans have fallen from their original status and purpose as the pinnacle of God's creation, made to reflect his very image, Esther now looks at how that original status can possibly be restored - and it's not by anything that can be accomplished by human means!

Let us know what you thought of the show!Thrust into adulthood as he moved across town to a new school, Micah became the new guy. He didn't let on how uncomfortable he was, and how strong the need was to reinvent himself in his new situation. And he was totally unprepared for the onslaught of temptation that would come his way through social media. He went from Awana and pancake breakfasts to Instagram and pornography. He explains how he was then drawn into same sex attraction. “I think right around the start of high school it became very clear in my mind, ‘Wow, this is who we are.' And it was a very silent thing. And it wasn't like this big coming out party to myself; but I would say the words like, ‘Yeah. Be honest with yourself; be your true self.' That's kind of everything that was being projected to me.” But feelings of isolation and confusion only festered when he went to Liberty University, until the night Micah planned to take his life. That's when the Holy Spirit prompted a friend to barge in; Micah's rescue started that day. “It all made sense. The same God who sent his son to die for our sins so that we could have everlasting life, that unconditional love, he did that despite knowing everything I was walking through-- pornography, online relationships with guys, and everything that entailed. God unconditionally loved me and he made that known.”Micah rededicated his life to Jesus and repented. Being honest with himself, his maker, and talking to trusted friends, Micah found healing from his sexual sin and he now leads a blog called Path Toward Holiness, which gives Christians the tools to have tough and important conversations. The Sendoff features a rap from TC Boyd the Artist, curated in honor of Micah's story.Micah's blog, Path Toward Holiness Micah on Instagram Follow One80 on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or our website.Never miss a One80. Easter morning revealed an empty tomb because Jesus had risen from the grave. The two women who first made the discovery had a choice to make. Do they trust the good news or do they ignore the evidence in front of them? The resurrection of Jesus was good news that changed the lives of the disciples and by their impact, the world. We have the same choice to make as the woman did. When we choose faith, we are found “in Christ” and our lives are made new.
Lead Pastor Don Jackson concludes the 'Made New' series as he shares scriptures that explain what it means to be Made New In Christ. What joyous news this is! Online Message Notes
Text: 2 Cor 5:17-18; 2 Samuel 11; 2 Samuel 12:1-15; Psalm 51Topic: Repentance, living in your newnessBig Idea of the Message: When you slip up, repent and ask God to help you; don't use it as an excuse to give into more sin. The new life of devotion to Christ means one has new attitudes and actions. Why do most New Year resolutions fail? Usually, we slip up once and then use that mistake as an excuse to slip up again and again. In our journey to become more like Christ, we can fall down. When that happens, it's important to repent—not give up.Support the show

In 2 Corinthians 7:17, Elder James Wilson emphasizes that living in Christ requires complete submission to Him and acknowledging that our old ways do not align with His will for us. When we choose to surrender our sins and old selves to Jesus, He can transform us into a new creation with a renewed purpose and perspective. Every year starts in pursuit of something. We think about things we want to accomplish, save up for, work towards, and even just maintain. Sometimes we prioritize things that don't really matter. Graciously, when we look to our relationship and walk with Christ Jesus, if you know him, the goal has already been accomplished. In Him, you have been made a new creation. It was not your doing, nor did you want it. Salvation is free because God loved and pursued His people. As you begin 2023, remember the Gospel- Christ Jesus has washed you with His blood and made you new. Hank Atchison. January 8th, 2023. Covenant Church. Tuscaloosa, AL.

All Things New In Christ Pt.1 (2022-7-24)
Sermon by Elder Ferlain Hoover
Free & New in ChristRomans • June 19, 2022Teacher: Adam Barnett--A Christian is free from the power of sin and death!Romans 6:1-4"What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."2 Corinthians 5:14-15"For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again"Romans 6:5-7“ For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.”2 Corinthians 5:17"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"ἰδοὺ γέγονεν καινά = Behold, the new is born!Romans 5:8-14“Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.”F.F. Bruce"“Is this an exhortation to pull ourselves together and make a new start? Is this a good resolution to do better in the future? Is this just an exertion of the will, or an effort of the imagination? No, it is not. When men and women present themselves to the living God, he accepts them as his servants and gives them power to do his will. The Christ of whom Paul speaks is the Christ who truly died and rose again, and in the lives of those who put their trust in Him, he breaks the power of cancelled sin."

In this second episode Candace and Myra discuss 2 Corinthians 5:17 and what it means to be "made new in Christ" and what it doesn't mean. We live in the tension of the already and the not yet- we are given a whole new identity in Jesus, but we are still us, walking in the brokenness of this world and our sin nature. Does being made new mean our past doesn't matter, or that we don't have to reckon with it? How does the gospel give us hope and freedom to walk out this new identity?
