I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2665 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Today's Wisdom Nugget is titled: From Bitterness to Brilliant Clarity - Concluding Our Trek Through Psalm 73:21-28 Today, we reach the powerful and transformative conclusion of our trek through Psalm 73 in the New Living Translation, encompassing verses 21 through 28. We've journeyed alongside Asaph, the psalmist, through his profound spiritual crisis. We heard his agonizing confession of almost stumbling, his feet nearly slipping, because he envied the apparent prosperity and carefree lives of the wicked. We saw his perplexity over his own suffering despite his efforts to live purely, and the immense burden this intellectual and spiritual dilemma placed upon him. Then, in our last trek, we witnessed the pivotal turning point: Asaph's revelation in the sanctuary of God, where he gained divine insight into the wicked's true, terrifying, and sudden end. Their prosperity was but a fleeting dream, a fantasy soon to vanish. Now, as we delve into these final verses, we witness the glorious resolution of Asaph's crisis. He moves from deep-seated bitterness and self-reproach for his foolishness to a profound affirmation of God's constant presence, His guiding hand, and His ultimate value as his true strength and eternal portion. This is the heart of what it means to truly resolve doubt and re-center our lives on God's unchanging truth. So, let's step into this moment of profound humility and renewed devotion, allowing Asaph's journey to illuminate our own. (Reads Psalm 73:21-22 NLT) Then I realized that my heart was bitter, and I was all torn up inside. I was so foolish and ignorant— I must have seemed like a senseless animal to you. Guthrie Chamberlain: The psalmist begins this section with a stark and humbling confession, a moment of profound self-awareness that comes after his revelation in the sanctuary: "Then I realized that my heart was bitter, and I was all torn up inside." The truth he had gained about the wicked's fleeting destiny didn't just resolve his intellectual confusion; it exposed the spiritual state of his own heart. "Bitter" (chametz) implies sourness, resentment, even fermented anger. His envy and questioning of God's justice had poisoned his inner being, leaving him "all torn up inside" (literally, "pricked in my kidneys/inward parts," the seat of emotions and conscience in ancient thought). This signifies deep emotional pain and guilt over his misplaced focus. This realization leads to a confession of profound foolishness: "I was so foolish and ignorant—I must have seemed like a senseless animal to you." This is a powerful and humbling admission. "Foolish" (ba'ar) in biblical wisdom literature often refers to someone lacking moral discernment, acting without true understanding. "Ignorant" speaks to his inability to grasp God's ways from a human perspective. The simile "like a senseless animal"...

Welcome to this explosive edition of Light ‘Em Up!In these critical and delicate times that we find ourselves in — democracy is in clear and present danger.As nothing feels certain or safe and everything appears to be in “transition” we interrogate and examine the Trump Administration and its efforts to suspend the “great writ” of Habeas corpus.Habeas corpus is a legal doctrine whose original purpose was to contest detention by the king. The origins of the writ, or “written order” (its Latin name means, loosely, “produce the body”), can be traced to 13th century England.On June 15, 1215, at Runnymede, the barons who had banded together to impose legal restrictions on King John's power forced him to affix his seal to the Magna Carta.One of its curbs on the sovereign's power reads, in part, “No free man shall be seized or imprisoned…except by the lawful judgment of his equals or by the law of the land.”The writ of habeas corpus appears in the U.S. Constitution. Article 1, section 9, clause 2 includes this single sentence: “The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.”Habeas corpus requires a jailer to produce a prisoner in a court of law so the basis for detention can be reviewed. The Constitution presupposes this right, but its use has been sharply restricted during past wars.Fast forward to the present, as Donald Trump continues on his “revenge tour” — his administration has shown itself to be big on conducting legal proceedings without due process for the defendants it pursues, just as George W. Bush did with “enemy combatants” at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, post 9-11.The Trump White House continues to break things like “Wreck it Ralph”— and has floated the idea of suspending Habeas corpus in the context of an “alien invasion” as it pertains to immigration, sparking widespread and grave concerns about the erosion of fundamental rights and the separation of powers.With mass deportations taking place without due process and the suspension of Habeas corpus, the rule of law and democracy itself is under a serious threat.While the Constitution allows for the suspension of Habeas corpus in cases of rebellion or invasion where the public safety is at stake, it is a power that must be exercised sparingly and only in extraordinary circumstances. Circumstances that we clearly are NOT in.With this probing, penetrating and pointed look … we ask out loud if we are on a collision course with the tyranny that brought about a coup d' état in Chile in 1973, where the military ousted then President Allende, General Agusto Pinochet seized power, democracy collapsed and repression, murder and great suffering followed (all backed and funded by the US CIA & State Department in the Nixon administration).As we challenge you to think critically, we probe further, examining the historical suspension of Habeas corpus, we think you'll be surprised to hear that one of the Presidents considered to be the “GOAT” (greatest of all time) suspended the writ of Habeas corpus, and we'll deliver the facts not the fiction surrounding this.We'll itemize some of the “pitfalls” and potential terrible consequences of decisions such as this, as we've learned through a FOIA request that the FBI has ordered its agents to scale back white-collar crime investigations to pursue more immigration crime instead.The rule of law and democracy are endangered!Previous Supreme Courts have held in reverence and referred to Habeas corpus as, “the fundamental instrument for safeguarding individual freedom against arbitrary and lawless state action.”The current Supreme Court has been at best tepid in its support and defense of the U.S. ConWe want to hear from you!

When someone inherits money, you have to mourn the loss of your life as you have known it up until that time before you can move on. Most people don't think about that. They think, “Oh, $18 million, woohoo!” But it's a big change. If the idea of making a lot of money scares you, because you think it will make you a jerk, today's episode will give you insight into the mindset of heirs to incredible wealth. We are leaving so much about our relationship with wealth and money unexamined. Let's blow the relationship with wealth wide open: People with and without money are almost identical – not in their day-to-day, but how they view themselves. Our guest, Myra Salzer is an advocate for people who have received a significant inheritance.   Since she founded The Wealth Conservancy, she has worked with inheritors who have collectively inherited billions. The firm's services combine life and wealth coaching and financial planning. If you are thinking this doesn't apply to you, it does, especially if you are trying to grow your business and earn more money. Myra says it's important to recognize the people she works with don't have an advocate, and they've been born into a situation they have no control over. “There's no manual on how to manage $50 million … and yet they're expected to be happy,” says Myra. Business owners, too, can get insecure about money. There's this idea that if you have money, you must somehow be bad. Myra says she sees this with her clients as well. Their net worth and self-worth are misaligned, and they are afraid of judgments. This might mean hiding their wealth, because they want to fit in This is true on the other side of the financial spectrum as well. Whether you're born into wealth or poverty, there's a pattern of thought that says you're just supposed to know what to do with money, and we're not supposed to talk about it. Myra notes that being an heir isn't like winning the lottery. Usually, it's a gradual event. Myra recalls one of her first clients as a financial planner: A young couple booked an appointment – he came in downcast that he didn't have any income; she was playing with a large engagement ring. Myra learned he'd lived off trust income for his whole life, but it terminated when he hit 35. He didn't know what to do with the $18 million in the bank. Her ring was $60,000, and she was wearing it with the stone towards her palm – embarrassed at the thought of showing her father who couldn't make a mortgage payment. This appointment laid the foundation for Myra's specialty. “The amount of money doesn't matter. It's the impact it has on your life,” says Myra. “So it could be $100 to a homeless person. Or $1,000 to a recent high school graduate. If it impacts their standard of living, it's a lot.” Myra breaks down the five stages of inheritance progression as: innocent stage, denial, ignorant acceptance, learning, growing and integrated authority. Ignorant acceptance is where Myra steps in to help. People have accepted their financial circumstances, but they have no training. Reaching the final stage of integrated authority is empowering. Heirs start thinking outside the box. They start thinking in a way that maybe deviates from what their family thought patterns are. Oftentimes, inheritors are only second or third generation from the wealth creator. The wealth creator's mindset is completely different they are future-focused and abundance-oriented. Whereas an inheritor is legacy-based and scarcity-oriented with a fear of loss, says Myra. But an inheritor might face hostile envy from people who feel like they didn't benefit from the same luck. Heirs need to have that sense of perspective, so that their investment managers are aligned with the inheritor's values and objectives. Money isn't who we are, but it can magnify us. Myra says if inheritors tend be a philanthropist or entrepreneur, they can be great ones. Money just helps boost their personalities and skills; it enables them to amplify what's already there.
