God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. — John 3:16 The newness we celebrate at the start of each year pales in comparison to the ultimate newness we receive through Christ. Eternal life isn't just about a future promise; it's about a present reality that transforms how we live today. When we embrace the newness of eternal life, we accept that we are part of something far greater than ourselves—an unshakable kingdom that will never fade. I remember when I first understood this truth fully. It wasn't until a hard season in my life that I truly grasped what it meant to have eternal life through Jesus. I realized that no matter what happened in the world or in my circumstances, the gift of eternal life could not be taken away. This profound shift in perspective gave me the peace that surpasses understanding. I knew I had a hope beyond what this world could offer. Eternal life changes everything. It shifts our values, our priorities, and even the way we see hardship. Each day becomes a step closer to the fulfillment of God's promises. So when the trials of life come, we can face them with the confidence that we are secure in the love of God, which never ends. As we conclude this devotional journey, let's remember that the newness we experience now is just a foretaste of the life we have in Christ that will never fade but last forever! Lord, thank you for the gift of eternal life. Help us to embrace your love and the hope you have given us, trusting in your promises. Amen.
On this week of Raising Serotonin, I'm sharing what it's really been like stepping into something completely new, my practicum for my master's degree. I talk honestly about the nerves, self-doubt, and emotional waves that come with starting unfamiliar territory, and how quickly those moments can bring our deepest core beliefs about self-worth to the surface.I reflect on what it looks like to notice those beliefs, challenge them, and choose growth anyway, even when it feels uncomfortable. This episode is about honoring your feelings without letting them run the show, trusting yourself in the unknown, and allowing change to shape you rather than scare you. If you're standing at the edge of something new, this one's for you.Get your Raising Serotonin Merch here! FOLLOW RAISING SEROTONIN ON INSTAGRAM HERE Support the show
The Newness of The Spirit.
The Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. — 2 Timothy 1:7 Fear is one of the greatest obstacles to embracing newness. It can hold us back from stepping into the new chapters of our lives, from trusting God's promises, and from becoming the people he has created us to be. Fear often whispers to us that we are unqualified, incapable, or unworthy of the changes that God wants to make in us. But the Bible tells us that fear is not from God. Instead, God has given us his Spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. It's not about us having enough courage on our own; it's about relying on the strength and presence of the Holy Spirit. When we lean into God's power, we can face the unknown with confidence, knowing that the Lord is already ahead of us. I've had many moments in which fear has threatened to paralyze me from pursuing something new. Yet in those moments I've come to realize that God's “perfect love drives out fear” (1 John 4:18). Embracing God's Spirit within me means rejecting the lies that fear tries to tell me, and walking forward in the boldness of new life that God provides. Surrounded by God's love, we can let go of fear and walk into the space God has provided for his new work in our lives. Lord, thank you for your Spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. Help me to let go of my fears and to embrace all the new things you have in store for me. Amen.
Episode Summary:In this episode of the Faith and Culture Now podcast, Dr. Scott Shiffer, along with Jillian and Steve, delve into the timeless question of whether there is anything new under the sun. They reflect on the cyclical nature of history, drawing parallels between past and present political unrest, and emphasize the importance of a biblical worldview in understanding these patterns. Steve highlights the comfort found in recognizing that while human behavior and societal issues may seem novel, they often echo historical events. Jillian adds to this by discussing the significance of patterns in music and culture, noting that despite the emergence of new civilizations, fundamental human experiences remain consistent. The conversation transitions into the realm of creativity, particularly in music and film, where they explore the impact of technology and the prevalence of rehashed content in Hollywood, ultimately advocating for a return to creativity and the appreciation of classical works.Takeaways:There's nothing new under the sun, as Ecclesiastes 1:9 states.Recognizing historical patterns can provide comfort during times of unrest.Creativity is a gift from God, and we should strive to express it.The prevalence of rehashed content in Hollywood reflects a cultural laziness.Engaging with classical works enriches our understanding of creativity.Quotes:"There's nothing new under the sun.""God is in control and has a purpose.""We can trust that what he's called us to is good."ChaptersIntroduction to the New SeasonThe Question of Newness in HistoryPatterns in Music and CultureThe Role of Creativity in ArtMusical Interpolation and Its ImpactHollywood's Rehashed ContentThe Search for New Artistic ExpressionBalancing Consumption and CreationThe Importance of Teaching Classics
What if real change requires more than good intentions? In this New Year sermon, Oran explores Jesus' parable of new wine and new wineskins, and what it reveals about growth, frustration, and transformation. Jesus is not calling us to despise the old, but to discern when a season has ended and to make room for the new work God is doing among us. A reflection on change, grace, and the courage it takes to trust that God is still making all things new.
Embracing Hope: Moving Beyond Past Struggles and Embracing New Beginnings In this sermon, Jeremy emphasizes the importance of staying connected and introduces a new series focused on themes of newness, transformation, and the renewing of one's mind. The discussion revolves around the challenges of maintaining hope and motivation, especially when initial inspiration fades. Using references to 'National Quitters Day' and the movie 'Shawshank Redemption,' the talk explores the idea that hope, despite being risky and sometimes painful, is essential for true transformation. The sermon highlights a biblical story from John chapter 5, where Jesus heals a man who has been an invalid for 38 years, urging him to pick up his mat and walk, symbolizing the need to leave behind old identities and embrace a new life. Emphasizing that hope is a choice and a necessary aspect of faith, the speaker urges listeners not to settle for less but to continually strive towards a new, God-given life. 00:00 Introduction and Announcements 00:49 Series on Newness and Transformation 01:29 The Temporary Nature of Inspiration 02:33 Challenges of Maintaining Resolutions 03:33 The Danger of Settling 07:43 Lessons from Shawshank Redemption 15:33 The Story of the Invalid at the Pool 23:35 Stop Identifying with Your Condition 24:02 The Significance of the Mat 25:52 Letting Go of the Old Identity 27:50 Choosing Hope and Transformation 31:14 The Power of Hope 33:41 The Cocoon of Transformation 35:31 Don't Quit, Choose Hope 41:42 A Prayer for Hope and Healing

Just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. — Romans 6:4 One of the most powerful truths of the Christian faith is that we don't have to stay the same. Through Jesus, we've been given the gift of new life—right here, right now. We aren't just slightly improved versions of our old selves. We have been made new from the inside out. Paul's words in Romans 6 remind us that just as Jesus was raised from the dead, we too are invited into resurrection living. That means the habits, thought patterns, and shame that once held us back no longer have to define us. The past no longer has the final word. Grace does. Of course, walking in newness doesn't always feel instant. Often it means taking one small step of faith at a time. But every step forward in obedience is a declaration that you belong to the risen Christ and that your life is a living testimony to his transforming power. You are not who you used to be. And, by God's grace, you're becoming more of the person he has called you to be. Lord, thank you for the new life I have in you. Help me to walk each day with purpose, knowing that I have been raised to live differently. Amen.
John is a week into Dry January, and it's triggering a 5/8th life crisis. He wonders aloud whether he should be doubling down on the things he's always done, or if he should seek newness on the regular.

The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ. . . . — 2 Corinthians 5:17 I've spent a lot of time in conversations with people who are holding on to shame, anger, or deep disappointment over things they can't go back and change. I have also been there myself—replaying moments that I wish I could rewrite. But living in the past is like trying to drive while staring in the rearview mirror. You miss what's in front of you, and you're likely to crash! The gospel doesn't ignore our past. It redeems it. Jesus meets us in the broken places of our lives and says, “You don't live there anymore.” That doesn't mean we forget everything that happened, but we no longer let those moments hold power over our identity. The apostle Paul, who wrote this passage, had a violent past. Yet he found peace and purpose in Christ. That same peace is available to us—not because we have earned it, but because Christ has already paid for it. Newness in Christ means learning to see ourselves the way God sees us: forgiven, free, and made new. You are not who you were. And because of Jesus, your story doesn't end in shame. It moves forward in grace. Jesus, thank you for making me new. Help me to release the past and to embrace the freedom you've given me. Shape my future with your grace. Amen.
New things excite us! But one truth stands out: "faith without works is dead." You have talents that are unique to you. You have had them all your life. Develop them. Use them to make your mark on the world.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. — Romans 12:2 There was a time in my life when I thought change had to begin by starting new routines, meeting new people, setting new goals, and so on. But no matter what I tried, I kept running into the same internal roadblocks. I realized I had to change the way I thought. Paul's words in Romans reminded me that transformation doesn't begin with behavior—it starts with belief. The renewing of the mind is God's way of helping us see things from his perspective. And that shift leads to lasting change. I committed to meditating on Scripture daily—not just reading it but also letting it reshape how I thought about myself, my struggles, and my purpose. That daily renewal helped me to break free from old thought patterns that held me back. Newness isn't just about doing something different—it's about thinking differently. If you want to live a transformed life, invite God to change your mind first. Let his Word speak louder than your doubts, your past, and your culture. Jesus, renew my mind today. Replace old, harmful thoughts with your truth. Transform me from the inside out so that I can walk in your will. Amen.

Are you simply waiting for Heaven, or are you living out the reality of your salvation today? In this powerful message, Pastor Chris Rieber dives into Colossians 3:1–10 to challenge the "waiting room" mentality of many believers. While the promise of eternity is secure, the Christian life is not meant to be a period of spiritual stagnation. Instead, we are called to actively "walk" in a transformed state of grace. Pastor Chris explores the profound shift that occurs when we surrender to Christ, unpacking the practical differences between our old nature—defined by sin and earthly desires—and our new nature, which is being renewed in the image of its Creator. In this episode, you’ll learn: -What it truly means to "set your minds on things above." -How to identify and "put to death" the habits of the old self. -The daily discipline of walking in a changed state of grace. -Why your identity in Christ is the key to living a successful, holy life. Join us as we move beyond resting in our salvation and begin thriving in the newness of life that Jesus provides. Key Scriptures Colossians 3:1–4: Setting our sights on Christ’s throne. Colossians 3:5–9: Stripping off the old self and its practices. Colossians 3:10: Putting on the new self, renewed in knowledge.

As a new year begins, many people carry regret, disappointment, or anxiety from what they didn’t accomplish in the past year. Yet Scripture invites us to move forward with hope, not fear. Philippians 1:6 reminds us that God is faithful to complete the good work He began in us. He does not call us to dwell on the past, but to trust His power to renew, restore, and make all things new. God’s newness isn’t wishful thinking—it’s His promise. No matter what the previous year looked like, He is still working, still transforming, and still bringing new life and purpose as we step into the year ahead. New beginnings in Christ aren’t just inspirational ideas—they’re biblical promises rooted in spiritual renewal, freedom from sin, and transformation through Jesus. Drawing from Ephesians 4:20–24, this devotional explores what God says about new beginnings, reminding believers that faith in Christ creates a new identity, a renewed mind, and a real opportunity to leave the old life behind. Highlights Scripture teaches that salvation in Christ creates a new self, not a slightly improved version of the old one. God offers new mercies every morning, providing forgiveness, restoration, and fresh opportunity. Sin, trauma, and unhealthy patterns do not have the final word—renewal through Christ is possible. Change may feel difficult or impossible, but God supplies the strength to walk in newness of life. New beginnings require belief, trust, and intentional steps rooted in God’s truth. Full Transcript Below: What God Says about New Beginnings By Aaron D’Anthony Brown Bible Reading:“But that is not how you came to know Christ, assuming you heard about him and were taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus, to take off your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires, to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth.” (Ephesians 4:20-24, CSB) There’s plenty to appreciate about new things, like the smell of a new car or the feel of new clothes. This is all the more true of a new marriage or a newborn baby. Newness in life can be and often is good and exciting. Yet, while we can usually appreciate new material things or relationships, we don’t always show the same gratitude toward the newness found in God. The newness that is God. Perhaps that is because we don’t fully fathom what He says about new beginnings. Scripture tells us how the Lord creates within us a “new self,” and how He offers “new mercies” every morning. He takes off the shackles of sin that once defined us and helps us become better image-bearers of His Son. The old self was corrupted, but the new self was created in His righteousness. If our faith in Jesus Christ makes us new, then we don’t have to be like our old selves. Whatever sinful habits or unhealthy relationships or trauma that once seemed permanent can be undone. A new beginning is possible. Chances are, on an intellectual level, we believe in the new beginning because we know that change is possible. Yet, another part of us says that change is hard. And oftentimes not just hard, but seemingly impossible. That’s when we have to remember, “I am able to do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). If God makes us new and grants us the power to walk in that newness, then we should ask ourselves, “Why aren’t we?” Fear? Laziness? Ignorance? If we are new, then we are not stuck in the old. We can grow. We can embrace a new beginning. After reading Scripture and understanding that God makes us new, the next step is figuring out how to apply this knowledge to our lives. Intersecting Faith & Life: Here are a few ways you can apply God’s new beginnings to your life starting today: Thank God for new mercies. Today doesn’t have to be like yesterday, and tomorrow doesn’t have to be like today. If God grants us new mercies, we would be foolish not to accept them. That means mercy in the form of forgiveness, mercy in the form of a chance to right our wrongs, mercy in the form of seeing another day. The average life expectancy for Americans may be around 80, but no day is guaranteed. That should caution us to make the most of each day we are given. Not using it as an opportunity to serve the flesh or our old way of being, but striving to be something better, someone new. Thank God that His mercies are new every morning and make wise use of them. Thank God for new opportunities. With every new day comes an opportunity to do something different. Maybe yesterday brought a contentious argument with a spouse or a relapse in addiction, but today doesn’t have to follow the same pattern. Today can be different, because the past does not predict the future. We often see new beginnings as impossible until we’re in them, but paradoxically, not believing in the new beginning prevents us from reaching it in the first place. Recall and thank God for the new opportunities He has given you in the past, whether in relationships, jobs, or financial security. Remember those past blessings and use them to encourage yourself today. If a new beginning was possible before, indeed it can happen again. Be encouraged that you are new. Understanding that you have been and are being made new every day will feel hard to believe some days, but we have to press forward. Newness means something to God, and He delights in His children growing in the likeness of His Son. The sinful part of you may say that isn’t true, but if you have to ask yourself, “Do I want to believe sin, or do I want to believe God?” Which would you pick? If you pick God, then choose to embrace your new beginning today. Saturday is Review day on The Daily Promise. Every Saturday, we review the promises of the week so we can allow them to go deep into our hearts and lives. Here are the promises we covered this week. Nehemiah 8:10 – God's Joy is My Strength. Colossians 2:9-10 – You Have Been Made Complete in Christ. John 14:5-6 - Jesus is the Only Way to the Father. Romans 5:1-2 – I Rejoice with Hope and Grace. Romans 6:3-4 – I Walk in Newness of Life.
Today's Promise: Romans 6:3-4 This scripture reminds you of a powerful truth: you are dead, but more alive than ever. When you placed your faith in Jesus Christ, your old life was crucified with Him on the cross. The moment you accepted Him as Savior and Lord, everything changed. Your union with Christ is beautifully pictured in baptism — buried in His death and raised to walk in newness of life. Through His resurrection, your past sins were buried, your failures were forgiven, and the power of sin was broken. In this episode, discover how your spiritual death in Christ opens the door to a victorious, grace-filled life of freedom and purpose. You are no longer defined by who you were, but by who you are in Him — alive, redeemed, and walking in resurrection power.

Romans 6 serves as our spiritual declaration of freedom, much like the message that arrived in Galveston on June 19th, 1865. This passage confronts a critical question that many of us wrestle with: if we're saved by grace through faith alone, does that mean we can continue living however we want? The answer is a resounding no. We've been united with Christ in His death and resurrection, which means we're called to walk in newness of life, not return to our old patterns. The passage challenges us to meditate on three transformative realities: our unity with Christ, our new identity in Him, and our secured eternity. But knowledge alone isn't enough. We must actively wage war against sin through what's called mortification, refusing to let sin reign over us and cutting off the routes it uses to access our hearts. The positive side of sanctification is understanding that we've been emancipated from spiritual slavery. Like an elephant tied to a small stake, many of us live bound by lies that no longer have power over us. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in us, yet we often live as if we're still powerless. This message calls us to break free from the chains of deception and walk in the freedom that has already been won for us.
In Christ Jesus, you have become a new creation and a son of God.We compare ourselves now in Christ to ourselves before without Christ. The second comparison is ourselves now in Christ to the fullness of Christ. The first appreciates how far I have come. The second recognizes how far I've left to go.We are new.Newness is from God, who graciously, through Christ, doesn't hold sin against those who are in Christ. We are new creations because we move from enemies of God to children of God.Your old garments are gone, clothed in Christ, you have a new identity that comes with the full rights of the citizenry of heaven. You were hostile to God.You could not please Him.But Christ could and did.In Christ alone, you have been chosen, loved, redeemed, justified, and made new, by the grace of God. 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, Titus 3:5, John 3:6-8, Revelation 21:4-5, Galatians 3:26-29, Romans 8:1-2,5-7,8,10,13,17,37-39

Their customers primarily love them for two things: their cult-favorite Pima cotton tees and refined tops that offer high-end style at accessible prices and our 14k gold-filled waterproof jewelry, which wears like solid gold without the high cost. Erin built this brand from the ground up and the brand is now featured in more than 800 boutiques nationwide. Giving back is our heart - Erin lost her mother to cancer, so supporting cancer research is at the core. The atmosphere at erin gray's Atlanta warehouse is fun, respectful, flexible, family-oriented and customer-focused. The team gets things done without compromising the things and people who matter to them the most.
