We begin our new 7-week series through the Gospel of John exploring the powerful “I Am” statements of Jesus. This week Pastor Nate covered John chapter 6 as Jesus declared himself to be the bread of life. So often we are drawn to the desires of this world to satisfy our spiritual hunger, but Jesus is the only one who can truly satisfy.--Sermon by Pastor Nate Click--New to Heritage? As we come to the end of our series in Daniel, we turn our attention to what Scripture reveals about the end times. While not every detail is clear, one truth stands above the rest: God is in control. Daniel reminds us that God's plans will unfold according to His perfect timing, giving His people confidence, hope, and steadfastness no matter what the future holds.--Sermon by Pastor Nate Click--New to Heritage? In Daniel 8, The Pretend Prince reveals that God raises up and pulls down nations for His purposes, and even when evil seems to prosper, He is preparing His people and accomplishing His plan. Every kingdom on earth promises power, security, and satisfaction, but like the terrifying beasts of Daniel 7, they are ultimately driven by human desire and are never worthy of our worship. In a world filled with chaos, anxiety, and uncertainty, Daniel's vision reminds us that there is still an Ancient of Days seated on the throne who judges perfectly and rules justly. And when life feels overwhelming, our anxious moments become opportunities to remember that Jesus, the Son of Man, is God, and we are not.--Sermon by Pastor Nate Click--New to Heritage? Episode DescriptionIn this episode of the Lead Ministry Podcast, Josh Denhart and Vance tackle the five core reasons volunteers say no — and what it takes to make recruiting an easy yes. They explore why guilt-based recruiting never works long-term, offering a practical framework for building the kind of ministry environment people actually want to join.If you've ever felt like pulling teeth trying to get people to serve, this episode will show you exactly what's standing in the way and how to fix it.Key Topics Covered→ The Five Reasons People Say No – Reputation, unclear roles, unclear vision, no winning team, and lack of relational equity→ Making Yes Easy – Clear structure, simple job descriptions, ministry checklists, tours, leveraging testimonies, and closing the onboarding gap→ Recruiting to Vision, Not Need – Why twice as many people signed up when one church shifted from guilt to vision-based recruitingKey Quote "People aren't moved by a need — they always feel like somebody else is going to fulfill it. People want to join a team that's thriving."Scripture References Matthew 9:37-38 – "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few."Takeaway If volunteers keep saying no, the solution isn't to ask louder — it's to fix what you're offering. Clear structure lowers fear and builds confidence. Simple job descriptions remove ambiguity. And when people can see your ministry in action through tours and testimonies, the yes becomes almost automatic.Call to Action We hope this episode encourages and equips you. We are living in disorienting days. Truth is contested, convictions are pressured, and faith can feel out of place. The book of Daniel was written for that kind of world. Set in exile, surrounded by a culture that opposed everything he believed, Daniel shows us that clarity is possible even in chaos. This study will help us see how to stand firm without compromise, think clearly without fear, and live faithfully without losing hope. Through Daniel's example, we will learn that God is not absent in confusing times but instead calls us to live with courage, conviction, and clarity right where we are.--Sermon by Pastor Nate Click--New to Heritage? As we are introduced to Joseph's life in Genesis, we quickly see a pattern: in God's economy, gaining often comes through losing. We want the end of the story, the breakthrough, the blessing. Jacob spent his life running from his brother, from his past, and from the consequences of his own sin. But in Genesis 33, we see the day he finally stopped. This passage is a powerful reminder that sorrow over sin is meant to lead us somewhere, not into shame, but into repentance. And when repentance is real, God does not respond with rejection; He responds with grace. In this message, we'll see how God's mercy transforms fear into peace and guilt into worship, and how true repentance is not trusting our efforts to fix what we've broken, but turning fully to the finished work of Jesus Christ. If you've been running, from failure, from consequences, or even from God Himself, this passage shows us the beauty of what happens when we finally stop.--Sermon by Pastor Nate Click--New to Heritage? Kat Armstrong Kay Daigle Leaders are always on the hunt for good volunteers. The question is what to look for in a potential volunteer. The answer? Recruit gifted volunteers, in fact look for those more gifted than you are. What does it look like practically? Kat Armstrong discusses with Kay Daigle why and how to find and empower such volunteers. As a leader, this episode will make you think about what gifts you need in the people working under and with you. Keep in mind that you need to recruit gifted volunteers, people who are even more gifted than you are! Recommended resources Recruit the right volunteers with Kat Armstrong How Should I Structure My Women's Ministry Team? Maximizing volunteers This episode is available on video as well. TranscriptKay >> Hi, I'm Kay Daigle with Beyond Ordinary Women, and I am delighted to welcome you to a series of videos that I'm doing with Kat Armstrong, who is the founder of Polished Ministry, a nonprofit. And Kat is sharing lessons in leadership that she has learned through leading in Polished. And we have some others that we're discussing as well. But this particular session we're going to talk about seeking leaders that are more gifted than you. And so, Kat, there are probably people out there wondering why in the world you would want to seek leaders more gifted than you, because don't you want to sort of be the one who knows all the answers and, you know, you're sort of at the top of the food chain. Why not? Kat >> Well, yes, I used to think that way. I read this book by John Maxwell, probably 15 years ago called Developing the Leaders Around You. And that book changed my mind about this. And he said, “Think about your leadership on a scale with zero being not such a great leader, got to work on some things, and ten being really high capacity person. He said, “Let's say that we're seven maybe six-and-a-half. If you start recruiting eight, nines and tens in your organization, they're going to bring you up. They're only going to encourage you in leadership and make you a better leader. And I think Stephanie and I, when we co-founded this organization, really took that to heart. But I started to see quickly that if we were going to reach our peers with the gospel—young, professional women (I only had experience in sales and marketing), we needed women who were great in accounting and logistics and administration and technology. Things that I'm not going to be able to learn really quickly or efficiently. But they know how to do it. And so we just decided let's recruit the smartest, fastest, most efficient women we can think of. And it is a little intimidating.
