Dr. Augusto Lopez-Claros, Executive Director of the Global Governance Forum, highlights his recent book,, “Global Governance and the Emergence of Global Institutions for the 21st Century.” Global institutions, such as the United Nations, confront the world's major problems, such as climate change, Israeli-Hamas War, Russian invasion of Ukraine, attacks on democracies, and nuclear proliferation. The United Nations has been the epicenter of confronting on these problems. Unfortunately, many national goals are not in conformance with international goals. Also, there is an unraveling of the nuclear arms treaties over the last 30-years. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres called for the “Summit of the Future Conference” in September to deal with many of these problems. To be more successful, the UN must begin to reform the institution, especially the Security Council, as well as to discuss overhauling the UN Charter. The main challenges are to protect democracy in the UN and worldwide and have a more carbon-free lifestyle.
Hello Rank Squad! It's time for the Champions League Takeaway - an immediate review of everything that went down in the Champions League this week as we had the second legs of the quarter finals and locked in our final four. Every matchweek, we're going to be ranking the three key takeaways from each of the games played that week, and looking at the games through that Ranks FC lens, to give you a sense of everything that we learned from each game. We start with City's 1-1 draw in Munich which saw them progress comfortably after last week's massacre in Manchester. We discuss the mentality change for City ahead of another semi-final, the impressive performance of Kingsley Coman, and Bayern's gamble not paying off. Then, we're off to Milan to discuss what looked like a 3-3 classic between Inter and Benfica, but was actually less so. That said, Inter will be over the moon - we talk the experience of Inter's lineup, the positives that Benfica can take out of this and the fanbase's joy at Inter's homegrown Italian core. Then in Part 2, we head back to London to discuss Real Madrid's thoroughly professional job dispatching an out-of-sorts Chelsea. There's some hope for Blues fans, in Lampard's tactics actually suiting this game quite well, but it's a Rodrygo love-in by the end as one of Real's Brazilian starboys takes another opportunity to step out of the shadows and into the spotlight, in a competition he loves so much. We finish with the all-Italian affair between Milan and Napoli, which the Rossoneri edged; talking through Milan's Rafael Leão's one-man counter-attack, Napoli not needing to be too downhearted, and a defensive display which was worthy of some of Milan's legendary back lines. This week we look to the upcoming US election as the country grapples with the coronavirus, civil unrest and a toppling stock market. Can Trump pull off another shock win and buoy markets with more of his trade mark tax cuts and incongruous twitter activity, or will old man Biden clinch the win for the democrats on a platform of covid management, healthcare strengthening and environmental protection. We have a look at the current state of play, and assess the potential impacts on both the economy and markets under each scenario. In today's investment webinar Nucleus Wealth's Head of Investments Damien Klassen, Chief Strategist David Llewellyn Smith and Head of Advice Tim Fuller cover US Election 2020 - American Civil War.To listen in podcast form click here: https://nucleuswealth.com/podcasts/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=direct&utm_campaign=podcastGet an obligation-free portfolio recommendation to see how we would invest for you: https://portal.nucleuswealth.com/register/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=direct&utm_campaign=podcastLearn more about the hosts: https://nucleuswealth.com/people/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=direct&utm_campaign=podcastFind us on social media: https://www.facebook.com/NucleusWealth/ https://twitter.com/NucleusWealth https://linkedin.com/company/nucleuswealth Nucleus Wealth is an Australian Investment & Superannuation fund that can help you reach your financial goals through transparent, low cost, ethically tailored portfolios.
