Hello Rank Squad! It's time for the Champions League Takeaway - an immediate review of everything that went down in the Champions League this week as we had the second legs of the quarter finals and locked in our final four. Every matchweek, we're going to be ranking the three key takeaways from each of the games played that week, and looking at the games through that Ranks FC lens, to give you a sense of everything that we learned from each game. We start with City's 1-1 draw in Munich which saw them progress comfortably after last week's massacre in Manchester. We discuss the mentality change for City ahead of another semi-final, the impressive performance of Kingsley Coman, and Bayern's gamble not paying off. Then, we're off to Milan to discuss what looked like a 3-3 classic between Inter and Benfica, but was actually less so. That said, Inter will be over the moon - we talk the experience of Inter's lineup, the positives that Benfica can take out of this and the fanbase's joy at Inter's homegrown Italian core. Then in Part 2, we head back to London to discuss Real Madrid's thoroughly professional job dispatching an out-of-sorts Chelsea. There's some hope for Blues fans, in Lampard's tactics actually suiting this game quite well, but it's a Rodrygo love-in by the end as one of Real's Brazilian starboys takes another opportunity to step out of the shadows and into the spotlight, in a competition he loves so much. We finish with the all-Italian affair between Milan and Napoli, which the Rossoneri edged; talking through Milan's Rafael Leão's one-man counter-attack, Napoli not needing to be too downhearted, and a defensive display which was worthy of some of Milan's legendary back lines. Every matchweek, we're going to be ranking the three key takeaways from each of the games played that week, and looking at the games through that Ranks FC lens, to give you a sense of everything that we learned from each game. We start with Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Chelsea at the Bernabeu, where Frank Lampard's Blues lacked real dynamism, and the spark and trickery of Vini and Valverde made them pay. We try to find some positives for Chelsea too, but ultimately this one felt like a bridge too far for a team lost with where they are right now. Then in Part 2, we head for Milan, where Napoli were once again quashed as the Rossoneri came out on top in an all-Italian affair. We talk about the power of San Siro, Napoli's nightmare evening in the North, and Milan's refusal to kill the game off - will that cost them in Naples? Three B's headline Benfica 0-2 Inter, where Bastoni's long passing is given its due credit, Benfica's wilting under the lights is discussed in terms of fatigue and experience, and Barella's return to Europe's top tier of midfielders is heralded - he remains Inter's big-game Mr. Reliable. Finally we turn our attention to Manchester, to the most impressive performance of all 8, where City's intensity made Bayern melt in the Manchester malaise, the Barnsley Beckenbauer John Stones ascended to the throne of his namesake against his old club, and Dayot Upamecano had an evening we're sure he'd love to forget.
Milan are on hiatus now until 2023 with an enforced break due to some daft tournament in the middle east. Milan sit second in Serie A and have qualified from their Champions League group, however a feeling of inconsistency surrounds the Rossoneri due to a number of injuries plaguing our free flowing performances. How have we done so far, will we catch Napoli, are a resurgent Juve a threat, all this and more on this mid-season review special. Forza Milan! Tottenham Hotspur await Milan in the round of 16 in the Champions League following a wonderful victory against Salzburg this past week to see the Rossoneri progress. This was followed by another 3 points in Serie A following a scare against Spezia and a Hero to Zero moment from Giroud. Two final league games to complete the calendar year are up next with Milan trying to maintain the pace in the title hunt. Forza Milan!
Emphatic victories in both the Champions League and Serie A for Milan this week. Both games saw the Rossoneri score 4 times and ensure our pursuit of European football after the world cup and a second straight scudetto remain on track. The great win away in Croatia means Milan need to avoid defeat at home to Salzburg next week to ensure qualification to the round of 16 for the first time in 8 years. Forza Milan! On this episode of the One Football podcast, Chloe Beresford is joined by Serie A writer Adam Digby. Juventus continue to struggle after a 2-1 defeat to Benfica in the Champions League, with some fans calling for boss Max Allegri to be fired. Why did Juve bring him back for a second spell in the first place? And what are the problems now? With Juve down in the dumps, who is the favourite to win the Scudetto this season? Moving onto the UCL, Napoli are flying with a 3-0 win away at Rangers in midweek, but considering Luciano Spalletti's past form, can they sustain their early season brilliance? Both Milan clubs won in midweek, but the two bosses are in very different situations with Simone Inzaghi under pressure at Inter and Stefano Pioli comfortable in his position with the Rossoneri after winning the league last year and the stellar form of Rafael Leão. We finish, as always, with a trivia question and by asking who was better: Zinedine Zidane or Andrea Pirlo?

16 Rossoneri scored at least one goal in the league this season: each one of them contributed to winning the title, each one of them became a striker for at least one night. In a season in which each point was worth its weight in gold, every goal was like a small piece of treasure.
A journey through time as we relive the history of the Rossoneri's league titles right up to the trophy lift at the Mapei Stadium. Among all of this Club's glorious triumphs, the month of May isn't like all the others. It's the month of titles, in which every date hearkens to an unforgettable memory.

It's our final episode of the 2021-22 season as we wrap up an incredible season and an amazing final round in which Milan brought home the Serie A trophy and added a 19th Scudetto badge to its glorious history, with an emphatic 3-0 victory at Sassuolo. The Rossoneri steamrolled the Neroverdi in the first half with a breathless attacking barrage that sealed La Diavola's 11th Serie A crown and ended any chance of a final day miracle for their Inter rivals. We discuss the growth of this Milan team, the management under Stefano Pioli, Directorship of Paolo Maldini and others, and the ownership of the club by Elliott Management Corporation since 2018. And what about Inter? Nicky and Mina wonder what regrets they'll have after a season of fine margins, and how will they build back better for next season? It was a final day relegation battle that didn't see any teams do any favours for those fighting for their Serie A lives, as Cagliari incredibly couldn't find a way to score against bottom side Venezia, and now join them in Serie B. But the real final day miracle story, despite a thrashing at home by Udinese, was Salernitana's salvezza to go around again in Serie A, amid phenomenal scenes of celebration with the passionate Granata tifosi at the Stadio Arechi and in the city of Salerno. It's another amazing Davide Nicola rescue story, of a club which came so close to not finishing the season in Serie A, or even existing, around Christmas time. Oh calcio... we love you! Fiorentina earned a European place for next season by beating Juventus, and they'll compete in the Europa Conference League next season, and is Paul Pogba returning to Juventus? And what does Gian Piero Gasperini's future look like now that Atalanta has missed out on a European competition spot for the first time in years? It's been a fun ride.
