1 Thessalonians 2:1-8 | May 17, 2026 | Albert TingPersonal Reflection Questions:1. What gives you boldness in sharing the gospel?2. When would you be tempted to please men, instead of pleasing God?3. Why does the Gospel Ambassador need to be gentle as a nursing mother? What does this role tell you about the relationship between the Gospel Ambassador and those under his or her care?
Some of radio's funniest performers trade skits for Suspense in radio thrillers starring the cast of The Jack Benny Program. This collection of regular players and recurring guest stars kept audiences in stitches on Sunday nights but had listeners on the edge of their seats when "radio's outstanding theater of thrills" came on the air. We'll hear Joseph Kearns in "Short Order" (originally aired on CBS on August 16, 1945); Ronald Colman in "A Vision of Death" (originally aired on CBS on March 8, 1951); Phil Harris with Alice Faye in "Death on My Hands" (originally aired on CBS on May 10, 1951); Jack Benny in "A Good and Faithful Servant" (originally aired on CBS on June 2, 1952); and Dennis Day in "Like, Man, Somebody Dig Me" (originally aired on CBS on August 16, 1959.) Plus Jack Benny and his gang present their own version of Suspense (originally aired on CBS on January 6, 1952).
This week, Pastor AJ challenged us with one important question: “What are you known for?” In 1 Corinthians 4, Paul says he wanted to be known as a faithful servant of Christ, seeking the approval of God over the approval of people. We were reminded that heroes of the faith are not defined by platform or recognition, but by obedience. Just like Edward Kimball's simple faithfulness led to a ripple effect that impacted generations, our obedience to God can impact lives in ways we may never see. In this concluding message of Matthew 13, Pastor Karl unpacks the final three parables of Jesus — the Hidden Treasure, the Pearl of Great Price, and the Net — and challenges the common interpretations most of us have grown up hearing.Rather than reading these parables through a modern American lens, Pastor Karl takes us back into a first-century Jewish mindset to uncover what Jesus was really communicating. The treasure hidden in the field isn't something we purchase with our devotion — it's a picture of Jesus himself, who in joy gave everything to redeem his chosen people. The pearl of great price wasn't a treasure to the Jews at all, which is exactly the point: Jesus was revealing the shocking mystery that Gentiles — the unclean, the outsiders — would be included in the kingdom of God. And the parable of the net reminds us that not all roads lead to heaven, and that a day of separation is coming.Pastor Karl also draws a striking connection to the book of Ruth, showing how Boaz purchasing the field to gain Ruth as his bride foreshadowed what Jesus would do for his people — buying the field to possess the treasure within it.The message closes with one of the hardest passages for any pastor to preach at his own church: Jesus returning to his hometown, only to be met with familiarity and low expectation. The takeaway is pointed — low expectation limits reception. The messenger can be overlooked, but the message cannot: God chose to treasure you, not because of anything you offered, but because of the price his Son was willing to pay.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am, 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

"Ministry is serving, serving is ministry."- Dr. Chris Cody
In Jesus, we are to become faithful servants of God first, and then of others.
Victor Frankl recalls an experience he had in a concentration camp. He was serving as a kind of medical assistant, caring for fellow prisoners who were sick or elderly. He would use whatever supplies he could get his hands on to help them. One day, he was approached by some fellow prisoners. They had made […]
We all hope that our lives make a difference to the world around us. Some of us strive to make that difference in the lives of others and others just talk about it. For those who know Jesus Christ, our goal shouldn't just be to live a good life, but to share Jesus with the world and then one day to hear the words of God our master when He says, "Well done good and faithful servant" On today's program, we will hear about the life of a friend that gave most of his life to point others to Christ through the Outdoors and especially through archery.

There are six words every Christian longs to hear from Jesus. This Sunday, we come to the parable that says it repeatedly. But why? Some rich man invests in three different people. The first two guys double their resources, so they get affirmed and rewarded with even more. But the guy who doesn't... weeping and gnashing... outer darkness. It's hard not to project American capitalism onto the Parable of the Talents, especially since we swim in a culture of 'you-are-what-you-produce.' But that would be an anachronistic, soul-eroding mistake. Just last week, Elon Musk said "whoever said 'money cannot buy happiness' really knew what they were talking about." So why does Jesus tell a story about making sure we get a good return on his investments? How would that lead to 'entering the joy of our Master'? Let's talk about "Well Done, Good & Faithful Servant" Matthew 25:14-30

What does it mean to be a good and faithful servant? Dave catches a key detail in the Parable of the Talents: God doesn't give us all the same amount of talents. God will never give us more than we can handle, while at the same time, God sees something more in us than anyone else ever can, including ourselves! Our goal is to use our talents to glorify the Lord so that we can hear at the end of our lives, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” We want to hear from you! Pastor Dominic continues our sermon series in the Gospel of Matthew, preaching from Matthew 11:1–19. In this message, he looks at the life and ministry of John the Baptist to draw lessons on faith in difficult seasons. When doubt arises, we're reminded to go to God, remember His works, and keep following Christ courageously—even when the world misunderstands or criticizes us. Where Every Voice Gets a Turn at the Mic At First Grapevine, we believe in lifting up every voice. That's why we created The Bullpen—a space where emerging and diverse voices bring fresh perspectives and deep spiritual insights to the conversation. In this episode, Pastor Zach Stiefel and Dr. Keva Green reflect on the just concluded sermon series (Jonah – A Faithful Servant) and the upcoming sermon series (Knee High Theology – Lessons we learned from the kid's table. During the Jonah sermon series we read the entire book of Jonah in worship. We want to be a Bible reading church. We want to read the Bible together. Was Jonah faithful to his calling from God? Are we faithful to our calling from God? At First Grapevine, we want to be known as a Bible-reading church—a community grounded in Scripture and growing together in faith. We're so glad you're here. Let's keep growing together—in truth, grace, and community.
Thanks for tuning in!
In 1 Thessalonians 2:9-12, Paul paints a picture of faithful ministry through the heart of a loving father, one who labors selflessly, lives with integrity, and leads others spiritually. Paul's example reminds us that faithful ministry isn't about charisma or comfort, but about Christlike character, and that true gospel service will cost much, but is worth everything. From our Sunday service at Grace Bible Church of Bend.

Suspense enters its final decade on the air and loses its longtime sponsor as our journey through the years of the show continues. Between 1952 and 1954, Elliott Lewis remained at the helm of the series and continued to present compelling dramas, but the rise of television and the loss of Autolite's financial support left Suspense in a transition period by the middle of the decade. We'll hear my favorite shows from this three year run: Deborah Kerr is a jewel thief out for revenge against her old partner in “The Lady Pamela” (originally aired on CBS on March 31, 1952). Jack Benny celebrates his retirement with a robbery in “A Good and Faithful Servant” (originally aired on June 2, 1952). Frank Lovejoy fights to free his hometown from the oppressive grip of criminals in “The Frightened City” (originally aired on CBS on November 10, 1952). Joseph Kearns tries to commit an experiment in objective murder in “The Earth is Made of Glass” (originally aired on CBS on June 17, 1954). And finally, John Dehner sets out to prove he cannot be killed in “The Last Letter of Dr. Bronson” (originally aired on CBS on November 4, 1954).
June 2, 1952 - Jack Benny Stars in this episode of Suspense where he plays a faithful clerk who tries to steal $50,000.
On this special episode of “Fearless,” Jason Whitlock discusses the atrocious assassination of Charlie Kirk, the young, outspoken conservative leader of Turning Point USA. Whitlock honors Kirk as the “good and faithful servant” Jesus Christ praises in Scripture and shows how Kirk's death reaffirms the word of the gospel that says truth-tellers “wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities.” Whitlock also argues that the “both sides” argument is dead, as the radical leftists who celebrate Kirk's murder are not at all similar to conservatives who embrace a biblical worldview. Whitlock also notes how prominent members of the sports media, including Stephen A. Smith, have so far remained silent on Kirk's assassination, despite speaking out on various other politically charged issues. Whitlock analyzes the demonic forces at work in our world and why the threat to kill is ever present, with Whitlock himself having been the victim of veiled death threats from the mouth of Joy Taylor, who claimed to be a “gangster.” Jon Root and Chandler Crump join the show to discuss their memories of Kirk at TPUSA and his influence on them, and T.J. Moe, Shemeka Michelle, and Virgil Walker discuss how Kirk's bravery transformed our country. What makes someone willing to risk their life for people who don't even appreciate them? This powerful examination of Philippians 2:25-30 unpacks the extraordinary example of Epaphroditus, a man whose faithful service nearly killed him—yet he was ready to do it all again. The passage reveals five critical roles that define authentic Christian service: brother (shared identity), coworker (shared purpose), soldier (shared fight), messenger (shared message), and minister (shared burden). These distinctions aren't just theological concepts but practical guideposts for how we relate to one another in ministry contexts.Epaphroditus exemplifies extraordinary commitment, carrying on his ministry despite knowing the Philippian church might have preferred Paul or Timothy instead. His story challenges us to examine our own motivations. Do we serve for recognition and appreciation? Or are we willing to persist faithfully even when it costs us dearly? Most importantly, we learn that joy isn't the absence of sorrow but can exist alongside it when we remember who we ultimately serve.Whether you're feeling unappreciated in ministry, wrestling with difficult relationships in your church, or simply trying to understand what faithful service looks like, this message offers profound encouragement. Share this episode with someone who needs the reminder that their service matters to God, even when others don't see its value. My hope is that this podcast helps grow your faith and equips you to accomplish your dreams and goals!Follow me on InstagramFollow me on FacebookFollow me on TikTok
