Car culture is on full display this weekend from the biggest automotive gathering in the world at the Woodward Dream Cruise in suburban Detroit to the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Automakers use the events to connect one-on-one with customers.
Welcome to the Martini Minute, this is what's new in the world of luxury: Pininfarina-designed Karma GT will make its US debut at the Monterey Car Week on the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance beginning August 15. The GT is built on the skeleton of Karma Automotive's electric grand tourer, the Revero, which is already in production. Pininfarina did away with the rear doors, and a new, all-electric drivetrain has been installed to power the vehicle.

Today we celebrate an artist mechanic, an internationally celebrated restorer, a boy next door, and an unassuming human being with a heart of gold. Gurmukh Singh Sahl is a master restorer, a collector and an antique lover who fell in love with the old world. Having earned his first Quail a prestigious international laurel of at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 2017, he’s all geared up to take on his passion with renewed vigour. Das Konzept-Fahrzeug, das zum einen die performanceorientierten Pläne von INFINITI für die Elektrifizierung seiner Produktpalette unterstreicht, ist zugleich auch das erste Projekt, das unter der Leitung von Karim Habib, dem neuen Executive Design Director des Herstellers, und seinen Teams in Japan, Großbritannien und den USA realisiert wurde. Das markante Konzept-Fahrzeug erlaubt zudem einen weiteren Zukunftsausblick und zeigt den Anspruch der Marke, wie intensive Fahrfreude gepaart mit der aufregenden Performance von elektrifizierten Antriebssträngen im Automobilbau zukünftig aussehen könnte. INFINITI hat bereits bei der Präsentation anderer wagemutiger Konzept-Fahrzeuge, wie zuletzt dem Prototype 9 anlässlich des Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance 2017, nachhaltig dokumentiert, wie man sich diesem Thema stufenweise nähert. Mit der erneuten Präsentation eines auf Performance orientierten Konzept-Fahrzeuges festigt das Unternehmen zudem die grundsätzliche Philosophie der Leistungsfähigkeit zukünftiger Fahrzeuge und verweist erneut auf die Ankündigung im Januar dieses Jahres, dass INFINITI ab 2021 elektrifiziert wird. Chris Bock is the Chief Judge and a member of the Selection Committee for the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. He’s served as Chief Judge since 2013 and he attended his first Pebble Beach Concours back in 1963 at the age of 18. Over the decades, he’s served as a Class Judge and numerous other roles helping make the Concours a success. Chris has been an entrant on five occasions – often showing Packards, a marque to which he is devoted. He has also served as President and National Head Judge of the Classic Car Club of America and as editor of The Cormorant for The Packard Club. This year, Chris put together a display of Eisenhower Era Dream Cars for Pebble Beach. Chris is a retired real estate broker and a foster parent.
Derek Hill has a long history with cars. He is the son of America’s first Formula 1 World Driving Champion, Phil Hill, and he is the current Master of Ceremonies for the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance which he has attended since birth. Like his father, Derek initially pursued a career in motorsports, earning class wins at the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, as well as many other races. He has also pursued historic racing at the Goodwood Revival and Monterey Reunion. Derek was kind enough to show up in a family owned Pierce Arrow that was used most recently to take him and his wife on their first drive as a newly married couple. The trip through the Malibu Canyon was certainly not what Derek expected but he did very much enjoy it, and we hope you enjoy it too!

Sandra Button has been the Chairman of the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance since 2002. She was the Executive Director for decades prior and has helped to inspire and guide the growth of the collector car hobby in to a truly global celebration of the automobile. Sandra participates and officiates automotive events from Asia and the Middle East to South America. She and her husband Martin have an eclectic collection of automobiles that they drive in events including the Mille Miglia, the 1000 Millas Sport Argentina, the London to Brighten Veteran Car Run and others. She’s a member of the Royal Automobile Club, the Classic Car Club of America and the Motor Press Guild along with the Society of Automotive Historians
