This weekās guest is kicking it old school. Bobby Dennis might be the most famous guy in the fishing business youāve never heard of before. When I interviewed Bobby for the podcast, I really and truly thought he was a lure designer. But heās more than that. Heās the guy that can make a lure better and then convince the buyer for the major retailer that they need this lure on a peg in their store. As Steve Bowman said, heās a person that can take a stick, screw some hooks on it, blow some fairy dust on it and folks would stand in line to buy it.Rick Clunn says Bobby can evaluate lure design from a sales point of view better more than anyone in the fishing industry. Rick also says thereās nobody that knows more about the fishing business & history than Bobby Dennis.Heās an incredible source of knowledge about the history of the lure business. Weāre lucky we got an hour of his time. Bobby has shepherded many baits to market in his career. If you're an aspiring pro angler you probably dream of having your own signature line of baits one day. And this is a story you should listen to.You can find more at my websitehttps://www.fishingbusinessschool.comYou can also download my free workbook http://www.fishingbusinessschool.com/brandworkbook
Rick Clunn could be the GOAT in fishing. He is to me. The Greatest Of All Time. He's been fishing since the 70's and he is still winning. He won a Bassmaster Elite Series event in 2019 on the St John's River in Florida. Rick is known for his mental toughness and that is a skill that we all need to cultivate, hone and pay careful attention to developing. In today's show, Rick talks about what mental toughness really means and how you can work at getting better at it. We also dive deep into passion and how it can drive you forward to your goals. Even though Rick is mostly talking about these things as they relate to being highly competitive in tournament fishing, these qualities also relate directly back to the business side of fishing as well. Big time. Listen to this episode as if you are listening to the wise shaman of the tribe...because you are. Stay open at the top and think about how you can take what we discuss here and apply it to all aspects of your life - from competition to business to your personal life. This is a good one, y'all.

it was a pleasure to have professional bass angler Kevin Van Dam in the Pacific Northwest! It was great fishing and learning from him, and awesome to see him catching salmon on jerkbaits!! We had the opportunity to sit down and chat with him about his career and how he got started in this crazy world of fishing! Make sure you listen to the whole podcast, some really awesome stories in this one!! Thanks again for joining us, don't forget to smash that thumbs up button! Kevin VanDam (born October 14, 1967), often called simply "KVD," is a professional bass fisherman from Otsego, Michigan. He is the all-time money winner in professional bass fishing, having earned $6,261,476.33 through September 2017. He has captured four Bassmaster Classic titles (2001, 2005, 2010, 2011), seven Toyota Tundra Angler of Year titles (1992, ā96, ā99, ā08, ā09, '10, "11) and was also the FLW Angler of the Year in 2001. VanDam has predominantly fished the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (BASS) Bassmasters tournament series during his career but was also a founding member of Major League Fishing. VanDam began his career in 1990 at the age of 23. In 1992, he became the youngest person to win the BASS Angler of the Year title, at age 25. He and Rick Clunn are the only anglers to have won four Bassmaster Classic titles. His 25 career BASS tournament series wins are the most career wins on the Bassmasters tournament trail. His win of the Bassmaster Elite at Grand Lake on April 29, 2018 marked his 25th Elite Series victory. Vandam also has 111 top 10 finishes, 173 top 20 finishes, and 214 top 30 finishes through July 23, 2017. VanDam was honored with the first-ever Outdoorsman of the Year ESPY Award by ESPN in 2002. An epic and rare evening show for the BTL crew, Mark and Matt welcome MLF Pro, Jeff Kriet. The Oklahoma pro talks MLF rules, feet and one of the greatest Rick Clunn stories of all time. Next up, a vintage segment with Arizona Pro, Cliff Pace. The three time US Open Champion talks US Open, his season, Arizona fishing and his thoughts on the remainder of the season.
I had an intuitive prompt the other day to look back at a chapter of my past, going back some three decades ago. I was privileged to spend over 15 years on the production team of āThe Bassmastersā TV show. Back then it aired on The Nashville Network, then on ESPN, and now it is on some of the outdoor channels. The show covers the Bassmaster Tournament Trail of professional bass fishing. Itās a phonetical niche market of people who are passionate about being outdoors, zipping to and fro in 6-figure bass rigs ā all in pursuit of an elusive creature populating most of the freshwater lakes in the US: The largemouth bass. Even though the TV show covered the tournament events, to those of us working on the show, the main goal was to get inside the heads of the winnersā¦because that would help more people learn how to catch fish. And if you were watching a fishing show of any kind, it was because you wanted to pick up some little tip or tactic to help you next time at the lake. One of the stand-out anglers back then and definitely still today is Rick Clunn. He is a true champion, and just a month before this is posted, he won another big tournament in Florida, hauling in almost 100 pounds of bass over 4 days! At age 72! Rick practices what he preaches, and is still as enthusiastic about his craft as he was 35 years ago. Rick Clunn approaches fishing differently, as you will hear in the podcast. I didnāt really realize back then the power this guy had, even at that relatively early point in his career. Rick talks about how visualization, intuition and meditation guide him to what has been an unbelievable career in the sport of fishing. He talks about how powerful these are, and have been in his career. Wow. Just, wow. I pulled a few quotes I found recently on his approach, and Iām sure it will inspire and encourage you to not only hone your intuitive and visualization skills, but also to be your absolute best in everything you take on. Thank you, Rick Clunn, for such a brilliant encouragement and perspective on how a true champion approaches his craftā¦and life. Enjoy the Journey,Thomas The post Rick Clunn ā The Mastery of Intuition in Bass Fishing appeared first on Subconscious Mind Mastery. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
We feature the GOAT! Just a few weeks ago, Rick Clunn recently made us a promise that he'd be back as soon as he won his next Elite tournament. It didn't take him very long at all. He just won $100,000 on the St. John's River. Clunn is a true gentleman and one of the smartest guys to ever fish for bass. We are proud to have Rick with us again. Dan Johnston from St. Croix talks about DNR rules, livewell maintenance, fish handling and many things that go into successfully releasing fish. Steve Cruikshank runs an organization called Fishing for Life. It's a fantastic organization with a lot of excellent goals and purposes. Find out all about them.
A couple of weeks ago, four-time Bassmaster Classic winner Rick Clunn, told us that this show's headliner was the best bass fisherman he'd ever seen. Can you believe that a bass fisherman who started tournament fishing back in the 70's has won over a million-and-a-half bucks in B.A.S.S. alone, won 50 boats, two trucks and a Cadillac? Dave Gliebe has enjoyed an incredible career that included tournaments in which he averaged bag weights of over ten pounds per fish. This guy is still fishing and is as good as he's ever been. We are thrilled to be able to re-introduce Dave Gliebe to today's audience. He is a true living legend. John Knight from USA Bass is just back from the World Championships in Mexico. John tells us how the USA team totally kicked butt and brought home the gold! Congratulations! Dan Johnston from St. Croix gives a comprehensive rundown on the many types of line available and when and which ones to use.
Rick Clunn was the first pro bass angler to win four Bassmaster Classic Championships. Think about that! Winning just one is like having the winning Powerball ticket! Four is absolutely unbelievable! This interview with Rick Clunn travels deep into the man's mind and helps you to understand what has made him so great. In addition to his phenomenal fishing prowess, Clunn shows that he is a totally marvelous human being. Young walleye superstar Max Wilson tells us about his travels to Europe to fish as part of the U.S.A. Predator Fishing Team. Dan Johnston from St. Croix talks about how the tackle manufacturers view the current wars going on in the bass tournament world.
