Want to ride faster without feeling like your heart's about to explode? World-class coaches like John Wakefield and Dan Lorang have cracked the code, and it's way simpler than you think. Today, we're diving into heart rate concerns—like whether hitting 180 bpm on a climb is totally normal or a red flag—and the key to balancing consistency and intensity in your training. We'll also break down the science of fueling properly, why mixing Shimano and SRAM might not be the disaster you think, and how the pros bounce back from brutal crashes (looking at you, Pogačar). Plus, should you weave through traffic at lights, or hold your lane? Is blasting your bike with a petrol station power washer a necessary evil? And what's the right way to pass another group ride without getting an earful? Kto to zaprojektował w dziale R&D. Kto to sprzedaje. A ten wytrzymał niecały rok. Wyrzucam do śmieci. Nie odsprzedaję, nie naprawiam. Wywalam do śmieci. Kiedyś na to nie zwracałem uwagi. Podobnie jak że spodniami czy koszulkami. Kiedyś odzież była droższa a siła nabywcza dużo mniejsza. Ciuchy nosiło się dłużej. Teraz można pójść do dowolnej sieciówki i za 39 zł kupić T-Shirt. Ubrac dwa razy i wywalić. To światełko. Ten uchwyt. W Europie to przestępstwo. By mieć poc Kolejny powód to podatki. Można swoją kasę wrzucić w polski albo europejski obieg pieniądza albo wysłać prosto poza nasz system. Racja. W Polsce wszystko jest droższe. Ale to nie z pazerności przedsiębiorców. Dobijające są obciążenia, których nie ma Chinach. To wyższe koszty normowanej prawem pracy, ubezpieczenia, lokalu, prądu, BHP… A Ty masz swoją wypłatę i swój PIT. Ten rowerowy, europejski i polski.

On this episode of Random Encounter, we're talking about two of the most highly anticipated games of 2025!We've been eagerly awaiting Obsidian's answer to Skyrim for years, and Avowed is finally here. A spin-off of the beloved CRPG Pillars of Eternity series, Avowed replaces the isometric view and strategic "real-time-with-pause" combat with an FPS perspective. Jerry is a massive Pillars fan, so does he think Avowed does Skyrim better than Skyrim? Then, Jono is here to chat about the latest Like a Dragon game, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. For the first time since the Yakuza Kiwami 2 DLC, we get to play as the Mad Dog of Shimano himself, Goro Majima. Or should we say Sea Dog, as Majima has taken up a new profession as a pirate captain. Pirate Yakuza looks wild, but does it deliver all the high-seas hijinks it promises?Featuring: Jono Logan and Jerry Williams; Edited by Jono LoganGet in Touch:RPGFan.comRPGFan ShopEmail us: podcast@rpgfan.comTwitter: @rpgfancomBluesky: @rpgfan.bsky.socialInstagram: @rpgfancomThreads: @rpgfancomFacebook: rpgfancomTwitch: rpgfancomThis Episode's Related Links:Avowed ReviewPillars of Eternity ReviewLike a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii ReviewLike a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name Review

Zach Calton is a professional bike racer who recently transitioned to racing and coaching full-time after previously working at Specialized. He discussed his victory at the 2024 Point to Point race, where he set a new course record. Zach shared his strategic approach and how he was able to pull away for the win. Zach was recently invited to represent the United States at the Marathon World Championships, but was disappointed by the lack of support and funding provided by USA Cycling for the event. He feels this is an ongoing issue beyond just Olympic years. The hosts and Zach compared the difficulty of major endurance races like Leadville, Crusher, and Point to Point, with Zach considering Leadville to be the most challenging due to the extreme altitude. As a participant in the Lifetime Grand Prix race series, Zach shared his thoughts on the recent changes to the format, including the reduction in the number of participants. He would prefer to see the series expand rather than contract. Zach detailed his current sponsors and equipment, riding Ventum and Yeti bikes with Shimano components. He emphasized the importance of consistency and enjoyment in cycling as advice for the team members. Overall, this was an insightful conversation providing a glimpse into the life of a top professional cyclist.
Welcome to another members-only (at least the full episode) edition of the Geek Warning podcast. This episode came together after the boutique brand Open Cycle [teased a long-awaited update to its Up gravel bike. For those who aren't familiar with the Open Up, it was a bike to break new ground for the emerging sporty gravel space through its dual-wheel size compatibility with 700c and 650B. Meanwhile, it achieved the clearance between the rear tyre and chainring by introducing dropped chainstays to the market. Open Cycle was founded by Andy Kessler (former CEO of BMC) and Gerard Vroomen (co-founder of Cervelo, and until recently, also the co-owner of 3T). Between Open and 3T, Vroomen has pushed many boundaries in the gravel space in recent years. In this episode, Vroomen covers the details of the new Up and Upper bike range and the design decisions made. We touch on Open's move to on-shoring production. I pry unsuccessfully into teased compatibility with unreleased Shimano. And we chat about the move to threaded bottom brackets. Plus, members of Escape will hear me eat my own hat as despite designing a 700c-only bike, Vroomen strongly defends the smaller 650B-wheelsize and laments (and explains) its loss. It's a varied chat with a whole lot of interesting experience in designing and engineering bikes shared. Enjoy!A portion of this podcast is available to all. The full length, including the conversation on 650B vs 700C is available exclusively to members of Escape Collective. It's never a boring week when you're a bike geek. We recently had the opportunity to sit down with World Cup racer turned skunkworks rider Bryn Atkinson alongside Shimano's MTB product manager Nick Murdick to chat about drivetrain development, rider feedback, gearboxes, and a lot more. Although they didn't spill the launch dates for new XTR and Saint, they did give us some great insight on why products like Saint sometimes take a (ridiculously) long time to bring to market.
With no time for chit-chat, the geeks are excited about the first few bits of tech seen at the Olympics, chatting a few notable elements from the road Time Trials, and then chatting why some of the tech seen in the mountain bike races are likely relevant to all. Then you'll hear a summary of the latest gravel-going groupset from SRAM, and the matching ultra-wide wheels from Zipp. For more on these products, certainly check out Dave's extensive write-ups on the SRAM Red XPLR AXS groupset and Zipp 303 XPLR wheels. If you've got a modern bike with thru-axles then you may be intrigued to hear that your thru-axles may in fact wear out. In this week's PSA you'll hear how to make those axles happy and why you shouldn't ignore early signs of issue. Finally, there's a couple of bits of tech news to wrap things up.
