Master Carlos Machado is one of the pioneers of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the United States. He comes from a lineage of BJJ legends, being the eldest of the Machado brothers and cousins to the Gracie family, who created this art. He started his training at the famous Gracie academy, where his uncle, Grandmaster Carlos Gracie, taught and guided him. He followed his footsteps and moved to Copacabana, where he learned from Rolls Gracie until his tragic death. He received his black belt from Carlos Gracie Junior and came to the USA in the early 1990s with his brothers. He founded the Carlos Machado Jiu Jitsu Association, a BJJ organization that is respected and growing worldwide.
