Hot Springs Village is the largest gated community in south central Arkansas, spanning 26,000 acres in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains. "The Village" features 11 lakes and 9 golf courses, 30 miles of walking trails, tennis courts, pickleball courts, and more clubs/organizations than I can count. Want community? We've got that in abundance. From boating, fishing, and hiking to all kinds of social activities, you can involve yourself as little or as much as you want. Natural beauty, serenity, and tranquility are staples of Hot Springs Village. The Village is not urban by any definition, but it's not country. Rural? Sure. Living in Hot Springs Village is like living in a very large park. Bentonville is situated in the Ozark Mountains in northwest Arkansas and offers many benefits such as hiking and fishing - not unlike Hot Springs Village. If you're a foodie and love local shopping, Bentonville may get your vote. If employment opportunities matter to you, Bentonville is the place to be. Let's hike around the DeSoto Trail and discuss why Hot Springs Village is better for retirement. This episode aired before the death of one of coon hunting's most successful and most colorful ambassadors. I hope you enjoy this replay from November of 2022. This episode takes us to the Ozark Mountains of Missouri and Arkansas to visit with coon hunting legend Junior Lasseter. At 73 years of age, Junior had amazing recall of events that led him from the Ozark hills to the major stages of competitive coon hunting, in the woods and on the bench. At one time in coon hunting history, there were many commercial coonhound and combination dog kennels operating out of the Ozarks. Ads appeared in the classified sections of not only the tree dog publications but in major outdoor magazines as well. Writers like Wilson Rawls created a narrative that the Ozarks were the cradle of coon hunting in America. Lasseter's stories emanate from the same root and place him as the perfect visitant to the Gone To The Dogs microphone. Lasseter has owned National Champions on the bench in both the UKC, PKC and ACHA registries and has a final four appearance in the UKC World Championship to his credit. He's the first, and perhaps only handler to win a pickup truck showing hounds. Lasseter's hounds like Table Rock Flying Hawk, Table Rock Mundo, Jr., Biggerstaff's Little Buck, and Morgan's Tree Jamming Mundar fill the conversations in this episode. Lasseter was known far and wide in the 80's when Steve began his career at the UKC registry. This episode is smothered with Ozark flavor, like cathead biscuits under a blanket of fried squirrel gravy. You'll enjoy Junior's stories. You'll want to follow them to the source, and you will, where mountain music echoes off the ridges and swells up from the cold stream hollers of tree dog country. Buckle up as they explore the eerie stories of travelers who have reported strange lights in the sky, unexplained craft hovering over the desert landscapes, and close encounters with unidentified beings. From the desolate stretches of Arizona to the wooded trails of Missouri, Route 66 has long been a hotspot for paranormal activity, drawing UFO enthusiasts and Bigfoot hunters alike. Could the vast open spaces and isolated highways provide the perfect cover for alien visitors? Or does something ancient and unknown lurk in the forests and canyons along America's most famous road? Jennifer and Joe dive deep into chilling witness accounts, including truck drivers who have spotted mysterious figures standing along the highway late at night, only to vanish into thin air, and campers who have awakened to the sounds of heavy footsteps and guttural growls outside their tents. They also examine the eerie connections between UFO activity and Sasquatch sightings—could these two phenomena be related? Some believe that Bigfoot may not be a mere flesh-and-blood creature but something more supernatural, even extraterrestrial. Others speculate that alien visitors may be studying or even protecting these elusive beings. The hosts also discuss famous locations along Route 66 where the paranormal seems to thrive. The infamous Black Mailbox in Nevada, a known gathering spot for UFO seekers, has long been rumored to attract government interest and extraterrestrial observers. Meanwhile, the Ozark Mountains in Missouri have been the setting for countless Bigfoot reports, with some claiming to have seen large, shadowy figures darting between trees under the cover of darkness. Could Route 66 be a supernatural corridor, connecting some of the most active paranormal hotspots in the country? As Jennifer and Joe unpack these fascinating theories, they invite listeners to share their own experiences with the unknown. Have you ever encountered something strange while traveling Route 66? Could the legends of UFOs and Sasquatch along the highway be more than just folklore? Tune in as they separate fact from fiction and explore the chilling, unexplained mysteries that make Route 66 one of the most haunted roads in America. TVC 677.5: Ed welcomes actor, author, playwright, and Emmy Award-winning producer Laurence Luckinbill (The Boys in the Band, The Delphi Bureau, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, Lyndon, Hemingway, Teddy Tonight!, Clarence Darrow Tonight!). Larry's autobiography, Affective Memories: How Chance and The Theater Saved My Life, is a page-turning, brutally honest story of how Larry overcame a meager upbringing up in the Ozark Mountains to forge his way into a successful career as a working actor and playwright. While it includes a lot of great showbiz stories from Larry's career on stage, film, and television, Affective Memories is really a book that transcends genres, evoking many classic American themes (one of which is finding redemption and a second lease on life through the love of a good woman), while also providing insight into what it means to be an actor, the healing power of the performing arts, and the lifetime discovery of what it means to be human. Among other topics this segment, Larry shares the story of how he came to write Teddy Tonight, his one-man show about the life of President Theodore Roosevelt, to illustrate how to find the “motor” that drives the particular story one wants to tell, be that as a play, a memoir, or a long-form work of fiction.

This week, a special road trip episode. OHR visits Rogers, Arkansas' Railyard Live Concert Series featuring Ozark original indie-folk husband and wife duo National Park Radio, recorded live at Butterfield Stage in Railyard Park in historic downtown Rogers. Rogers, Arkansas' Railyard Live Concert Series began in 2021. Held on the city's Butterfield Stage next to Railyard Park in historic downtown Rogers, it features live concerts every weekend throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall. All of the Railyard Live events are either free to the public or at very low cost of admission. The concert series features a wide array of musical styles and interests designed to appeal to the diverse population of Rogers and invite them to experience the newly revitalized Railyard Entertainment District. The Ozark Folk Center State Park and the City of Rogers, Arkansas partnered to bring Ozark Highlands Radio to capture a little slice of this modern Ozark culture. “National Park Radio is a nationally touring indie-folk ‘power duo' based in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas. With an impressive and consistently growing grassroots fanbase across the U.S. (and the world), husband and wife duo Stefan & Kerrie Szabo have made a name for themselves over the past several years with their beautiful harmonies, incredibly inspiring and relatable songwriting, and their unique and energetic live shows. Aside from their incredibly relatable songwriting and harmonies that connect with so many of their fans, their high-energy live shows - created by the duo bringing in a unique setup and multitasking configuration - brings a new level of sound created by just two people on stage. National Park Radio has been described as the ‘biggest sounding indie-folk duo' that there is, and between the two of them, many say they create the sound and energy of a 5-piece band.” https://npr.band/ In this week's “From the Vault” segment, OHR producer Jeff Glover offers a 1984 archival recording of Ozark originals Mary and Robert Gillihan performing the song “Keep on the Sunny Side” from the Ozark Folk Center State Park archives.

You've likely never heard of Warren Stephens—or his magnificent and critically acclaimed Arkansas golf retreat—and that's by design. Recently, host Tom Coyne accepted a rare invite from Stephens to The Alotian Club, perhaps the quietest club ever to crack America's top 100. The golf is eye-popping, with 18 rollercoaster holes slashed through the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, but the family behind it is where the real stories lie. You'll meet Stephens, club founder and chairman of one of the nation's largest privately held investment banks. You'll hear tales from his father Jackson, a former chairman of Augusta National who presided over perhaps the most successful IPO in American history. And you'll learn how the family is giving back to the game with the Stephens Cup, a collegiate tournament hitting a few small, out-of-the-way locations like Shoreacres, PGA Frisco and, yes, the Alotian Club. In this episode of PhotoWork, host Sasha Wolf talks with the three recipients of the Foundation's inaugural Fellowship: Molly D'Arcy, Brandon Holland, and Will Suiter. They each share how the six-month mentorship impacted their artistic practice and what the experience meant to them personally. It's an honest and transparent peek into the evolving practices and processes of these three young artists. Molly D'Arcy is an American artist (b.1997) living and working in New England. She began making short films as a child, an interest which blossomed into a passion for darkroom photography. Her work centers around themes of journeying and destination. Spirituality has been part of her life since childhood and continues to play a central role in her photographic practice today. https://photowork.foundation/molly-darcy/ Brandon Holland is a New Orleans-born art and documentary photographer. His work is concerned with environment, kinship, blackness, and the delicate nature of things. He uses photography as a means of preservation and connecting with the world around him. He splits time working and living in Baltimore and New Orleans. https://photowork.foundation/brandon-holland/ Will Suiter is an artist working in photography, based in Humboldt County, California. He was born 1999 in the San Francisco Bay Area suburbs, and grew up sharing time between the urban SF Bay Area and rural Ozark Mountains in Arkansas. He moved to rural Humboldt County in 2017 to study forestry at Humboldt State University, and the isolated, remote geography and rural culture of the region has informed much of his work since. https://photowork.foundation/will-suiter/ This podcast is sponsored by picturehouse + thesmalldarkroom. https://phtsdr.com

Tonight's guest is back by popular demand. Even though he's been on the show 3 times now, Kenny Busby is far from being done sharing experiences he's had with the Forest People that live around his home, in the Ozark Mountains. He has many more experiences to share. One of the most notable experiences he's going to share, on tonight's show, is the time he met the alpha male of the clan that lives near his home. Although Kenny does a good job of staying calm around the forest people, that experience was one that made him anxious. What happened? Did everything go okay? Life and Death of the American Worker: The Immigrants Taking on America's Largest Meatpacking Company by Alice Driver https://amzn.to/3ASgiGu Winner of the J. Anthony Lukas Work-in-Progress Award, an explosive exposé of the toxic labor practices at the largest meatpacking company in America and the immigrant workers who had the courage to fight back. On June 27, 2011, a deadly chemical accident took place inside the Tyson Foods chicken processing plant in Springdale, Arkansas, where the company is headquartered. The company quickly covered it up although the spill left their employees injured, sick, and terrified. Over the years, Arkansas-based reporter Alice Driver was able to gain the trust of the immigrant workers who survived the accident. They rewarded her persistence by giving her total access to their lives. Having spent hours in their kitchens and accompanying them to doctor's appointments, Driver has memorialized in these pages the dramatic lives of husband and wife Plácido and Angelina, who liked to spend weekends planting seeds from their native El Salvador in their garden; father and son Martín and Gabriel, who migrated from Mexico at different times and were trying to patch up their relationship; and many other immigrants who survived the chemical accident in Springdale that day. During the course of Alice's reporting, the COVID-19 pandemic struck the community, and the workers were forced to continue production in unsafe conditions, watching their colleagues get sick and die one by one. These essential workers, many of whom only speak Spanish and some of whom are illiterate—all of whom suffer the health consequences of Tyson's negligence—somehow found the strength and courage to organize and fight back, culminating in a lawsuit against Tyson Foods, the largest meatpacking company in America. Richly detailed, fiercely honest, and deeply reported, Life and Death of the American Worker will forever change the way we think about the people who prepare our food.About the author Alice Driver is a James Beard Award-winning writer from the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas. In 2024, she won the Lukas Work-in-Progress Prize from Columbia Journalism School and the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard for The Life and Death of the American Worker: The Immigrants Taking on America's Largest Meatpacking Company (One Signal Publishers). Driver is the author of More or Less Dead (University of Arizona, 2015) and the translator of Abecedario de Juárez (University of Texas, 2022).
Tonight's guest, Terry, describes himself as being an avid outdoorsman, who spends as much time in the woods as he can. Terry lives in the Ozark Mountains, and that's not an accident. Terry lives there because after riding his motorcycle all over the country, seeing what different places have to offer, he feels that the Ozark Mountains cater to his preferences more than pretty much any other place he's been. While it's true that Terry has always loved spending time in the woods, he likes spending time in them even more now, now that he's had the experience he's going to share with you, on tonight's show. It's the time Terry and his son saw an Ozark Ape, as the locals call them. Even out here in the windswept section of the place where the Great Plains, the Ozark Mountains and the Indian Territory collide, small, sometimes forgotten things may have a bigger impact than you know. An important discovery near the little burg of Dexter, Kansas, or the lack of that discovery had a big impact on another burg, the Hindenburg which exploded as it was mooring in New Jersey in 1937. That,,at the time unprofitable, discovery would have an impact on air travel and the efforts into space. withinpodcast.com SUPPORT INDEPENDENT ARTIST! We've heard stories about how chicken nuggets are riddled with questionable ingredients, but what gets missed when looking at industrial meat production is those who process a nation's worth of meat and poultry, the immigrants working at Tyson meatpacking companies throughout Arkansas. My guest today is Alice Driver, who has written a haunting exposé on the toxic labour practices experienced at Tyson, the largest meatpacking company in America. Alice is a J. Anthony Lukas and James Beard Award-winning writer from the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas. She is here today to discuss some of the central themes in her new book, Life and Death of the American Worker: The Immigrants Taking on America's Largest Meatpacking Industry, which is out officially as of today through Simon and Schuster. She is also the author of More or Less Dead, and the translator of Abecedario de Juárez. In our conversation, Alice details the story of the immigrant workers who had the courage to fight back after decades of deadly chemical accidents, hyper-surveillance, and unsafe working conditions throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. She unveils how the landscape and politics of Arkansas are marked by the poultry industry, and the exploitation models that went into creating such difficult and hazardous working conditions for those who are often subjected to invisible labour. She recounts how workers fought back in a lawsuit against Tyson Foods despite the potential consequences, and what is needed to truly change meatpacking industry standards. On episode 219, we welcome Alice Driver to discuss the widespread labor violations of the meatpacking industry, Tyson's treatment of its workforce, how the company is able to employ undocumented immigrants, the Arkansas law that allows child labor, how prison labor is used to keep company costs low, the political power of the industry and how government subsidies help sustain it, and the various personal stories of the people working in Tyson's factories. Alice Driver is a writer from the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas. Driver was born in rural Arkansas in a house built by her potter father and her weaver mother. She attended Berea College in rural Kentucky, founded in 1855 to educate freed slaves and students with limited economic resources. Berea College charges no tuition, and thanks to its mission, she was able to take the years of financial risk needed to become a writer. Writing is how she seeks justice and equality in a world that is far from that. She is currently designing a workshop on gender-based violence for journalists in El Salvador via the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. She has a Ph.D.(2011) and MA (2008) in Hispanic Studies from the University of Kentucky, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in Mexico City. She studied Spanish and Portuguese at Middlebury College Language Schools.
Tonight's guest, Kenny Busby, has been on the show several times, in the past. On those shows, he shared several interesting experiences he's had with the two Sasquatch families he's interacted with, over the years, in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. Back in the day, local TV news was important, especially the weather forecast, here in Tornado Alley. One Weatherman here in the place where the Great Plains, the Ozark Mountains and the Indian Territory collide developed a great gimmick to get kids to watch the forecast. The gimmick? The chance to hear your name on TV and get a drawing from the weatherman himself! The weatherman was the legendary Don Woods and the gimmick was the equally legendary Gusty, the little drawing he did twice daily for 35 years. He drew in kids to watch for their chance to win a Gusty drawing, but they also learned a little about the weather. This was Don Woods goal. He also created a bond of trust between his viewer and himself that was only part of his legacy. See a little more about the station Don Woods worked for in this previous episode. Billy writes "I had an incident happen to me two years ago, in August 2022. This incident has affected my life in a serious way. I have stopped almost all of my outdoor activities, hunting, fishing, and hiking, which have been a big part of my life. Since the incident, I have been off and on in a state of depression, and I have gained about 35 pounds. I really need to talk to someone who has experience with these types of events and will take it seriously, and maybe help me move on from it. In summary, the incident involved being stalked on a daylight hike in the Ozark Mountains by something I could not see initially, which caused the entire forest to go silent and the air to seem to stop moving. The woods became so silent that I could hear myself breathing. I was videoing myself during this time and commenting about the lack of noise and that I could occasionally hear something off to my right following me, always just beyond my sight in the woods, maybe 30 meters. The woods are very thick in this area. At one point, I was taking a break and getting a drink when, looking back up the trail I came from, I saw a large black object on the side of the trail. My first thought was that it was a black bear. As I watched this thing about 300–400 meters away, it did not move. I ruled out the bear because it did not move and would have to have been sitting like a dog if it were a bear. I took out my iPhone 13 Pro and started to film. I zoomed into the thing, and it was black to a degree that could only be from something burnt. It had a sort of rectangle body, the head and neck was like a deer, with horns similar to those of a cow. The whole object was as black as anything I have ever seen, with no details. This sounds strange, but it is on film. I assumed it was a burned stump but wondered how I could walk past such a strange object and not notice it. On my return trip, I walked past where the object was but found nothing that even remotely looked like the object I filmed. However, the area just behind where the object was had been smashed flat, as if something large had walked or sat there recently; I filmed this as well. Near the end of the hike, I noticed a pile of animal scats in the middle of the trail. This was deer scat, but it was large for deer. I bent over to film it. I intended to show this to my brother, who has hunted this area a lot. While doing this, I heard a very large twig snap directly in front of me. I jerked my head up, still filming, looking into the woods. The woods were thinner here than on the rest of the trail. The twig snap was from a large twig; in order to break something that size it would take something large as well. I could see nothing in the direction of the twig snap. I felt a huge urge to run at this moment; it took everything I could muster to not to. I told myself it was daylight; I couldn't see anything, and if it were a mountain lion or something running, running could trigger an attack. I walked to my truck and was very nervous that it would not start or something and I would be stuck out there. My truck never had any problems, so that wasn't a normal feeling. I drove away and stopped for a few minutes down the road to think about what happened. I was pretty shook up. I stopped going into the woods after this incident. I would usually be fishing on a river near by, not near any roads and trails several times a week. Sometimes coming out after dark alone. I stopped scouting for turkey and deer seasons because I did this alone. I did not do any hunting the following year, even with others. About a year after the incident, I started to think about why I was so bothered by this incident. 1. Whatever was following me could have been a predator of some type, I suppose. However, bears are not that stealthy, I have seen a few of them in the wild. There are no mountain lions in the area. Whatever it was, it made the forest go absolutely silent. I stopped walking when I noticed this, it was so silent that I snapped my fingers a couple of times to make sure I had not lost my hearing. The air stopped moving, like I was in a vacuum. I don't know any animal that causes that. 2. The object I filmed. What was it, and why was it not there when I first walked by or on the return? I have zoomed and slowed the video I took of it, and it seems to have turned its head slightly at one point. I have not heard of anyone having an experience like that. 3. The twig snaps at the end of the hike. Why could I not see what caused it? Something large enough to break a large twig by stepping on it should have been easily visible, but I saw nothing. I focused on the twig snap and my lack of seeing anything. I thought about how quiet it was previously following me along the trail, but it was so loud at that point. I realized it made a mistake at that point right then by stepping on the twig. Why would it do that right then? I then realized that at that moment I was bent over, head down. filming scat. I was completely vulnerable and unaware of my surroundings then. I concluded that whatever it was, it probably saw its opportunity and charged me. Like you see in videos from Africa when a gazelle bends down to drink the cheetah springs on them. This thought really bothered me. What would have happened if the twig had not snapped? Would it have gotten to me? Why did it stop when I lifted my head up? I could not see anything, it could have continued for me. I was unarmed."

Last year Ulrich Bartholmoes, who goes by Uba, won the Tour Divide in his first attempt with a time of 14d 2h 23m. This year he's back to defend his title at the Tour Divide, but he's got bigger goals than that. This year he will be attempting to complete the Triple Crown of Bikepacking (Tour Divide, Colorado Trail Race, and Arizona Trail race) and he's gunning to beat the current record time of 27d 18h 33m set by Jay Petervary in 2015. Uba's approach to ultra bikepack racing is different from most. He's incorporated advanced training methods inspired by pro tour riders and driven by his passion for optimization of himself, his equipment, and his training. And he seemingly attacks his training and preparation with the same detail and veracity that he applies to his racing. I caught up with him days before the start of the race at his hotel in Calgary. We dived into his plans for this year, his goals, and his unique training protocols. It seems that he's left no stone unturned, no bolt un-torqued, and no bearing un-greased. But as he says in the episode, it's a long race, and training and preparation can only take you so far. Tonight's guest, Kenny Busby, lives in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, and Kenny has probably had as many Sasquatch sightings and encounters as pretty much any guest who has been on the show. In fact, he's interacted with the Sasquatch around his property so much, he's given them nicknames. Junior, a 12-foot-tall Sasquatch, is probably the one he's had the most interactions with. We hope you'll tune in and listen to Kenny share a lot of the experiences he's had, over the years. Tonight's guest has spent just about as much time in the outdoors as pretty much anyone you'll find. He grew up doing all sorts of things in the Ozark Mountains of Southwest Missouri. One of the things he used to like doing in those mountains was hunting deer. The last time he did any hunting in the Ozarks, however, was in the late 1990's. You see, one day, in November, he went hunting on his parent's farm and had an experience that caused him to swear off ever heading into the woods, in the Ozarks, by himself, ever again. He'll be the first to tell you that the Sasquatch he encountered that day never displayed any aggressive behavior toward him, but now that he knows they're actually out there, those mountains will never be the same for him. “Arkansas Traveler” is an old-time song of folk humor that tells of a well-heeled dandy who gets lost while travelling across the Ozark Mountains. He comes upon a backwoods farmer and shouts out: “Hey farmer, where does this road go?” Not missing a beat, the farmer says: “I’ve lived here all my life, stranger, and it ain’t gone nowhere, yet.”
Rick Clunn opens up about his 50 year pursuit of happiness. Sure he is a 4-time Bassmaster Classic Champion, 16-time Bassmaster winner, 32-time Classic Qualifier & a former Bassmaster AOY. Beyond all of those trophies and accolades, Rick Clunn is an absolute anomaly. What he is doing in fishing is not happening in any other sport or competitive activity on earth. At 77 years old he will kick off his 50th season competing at the top level of the sport. At a time that may be more dominated by young anglers than ever before, Rick Clunn is 5 decades into his legendary career. His incredible influence is seen in every single pro fishing today. Clunn is not only a driven competitor but his silent approach and down-to-earth outlook on life has almost turned him into a mystical character in the eyes of many. Rick Clunn is a unicorn. When tournaments are over he disappears into the tranquility and beauty of the Ozark Mountains. But this week for our first episode of 2024 Rick joins us for a very rare, very open and very candid conversation.

This week, another special road trip episode. OHR visits Rogers, Arkansas' Railyard Live Concert Series featuring post-folk newgrass phenomenon Arkansauce, recorded live at Butterfield Stage in Railyard Park in historic downtown Rogers. Also, an interview with Rogers Arts & Culture Coordinator Kinya Christian. “Arkansauce is Tom Andersen on bass, Zac Archuleta on guitar, Ethan Bush on mandolin, and Adams Collins on banjo. Their music features improvisational string leads matched with complex melodies, intriguing rhythms, and deep thumping bass grooves. Each member sings lead and harmony parts as well as contributes to the lyrics, which offer authentic, intelligent songwriting with hard-hitting hooks. “We are a band that spends most of our time in the back of a van hurtling toward long nights, good times, and a destiny unknown,” says Ethan. “Our inspiration is gathered by events unfolding in our own adventures in real time. These days, the desire to create, inspire, and redefine within our scene seems to be the main driving force behind our music.” The melodies of the Ozark Mountains' rolling hills and raging rivers can be heard in this progressive string quartet's distinct blend of newgrass.” https://www.arkansaucemusic.com/info In this week's “From the Vault” segment, OHR producer Jeff Glover offers a 1981 archival recording of Ozark originals The Bill Sky Family Trio performing the traditional song “Twilight is Stealing” from the Ozark Folk Center State Park archives. In this week's guest host segment, renowned traditional folk musician, writer, and step dancer Aubrey Atwater traces the peregrination of the tune “John Stenson's No. 2.”
When President Carter promised to welcome the men and women arriving on the Mariel boatlift with "an open heart and open arms," he had referred to them as refugees. But technically speaking, they weren't refugees. They were classified as entrants, an immigration status with a peculiar legal standing in the United States. While entrants are physically allowed to enter the country, legally they're still at the border, asking to come in. Their presence in the country is known as a legal fiction — specifically, the "entry fiction." So even as Cubans were disembarking boats in droves through the summer of 1980, they were officially still floating off the coast of Key West. And this immigration status followed them to where they went next: an army base in rural Arkansas. In episode 4, the curious case of the militarized border in the middle of the Ozark Mountains.
