Batman has been around for a very very long time, and in recent years it seems like we have had no shortage of actors dawn the cape and cowl. With DC now under the leadership of James Gunn there have already been many updates made public about what we can expect. One of those is the soon to be seemingly coexistence of two very different portrayals of Batman. On the one hand we have Robert Pattinson's “The Batman” and then at some point we will have a new symbol of justice for the other upcoming projects such as “The Brave and the Bold”. The big question on everyones mind is… who? This week we discuss to big names that have been tossed around for a future shot at the billionaire playboy role, and how “The Batman part 2” is already breaking a smilingly long held tradition amongst the caped crusaders movies. They say when you love something, you should let it go. But the film world clearly hasn't gotten that memo. In recent years, more and more beloved films have been revived for the big screen and re-envisioned to engage modern audiences. Whether that's a good thing is a topic of ongoing heated discussion. So join us to do just that for a final time this semester as current host Vikram Nijhawan, host successor Cailin Ball, and non-host Nujhat Tabassum band together to tackle everything “reboots”: What exactly are they? Why do people keep making them? Is capitalizing on nostalgia or retconning/ retelling beloved stories repeatedly always a bad thing? Are reboots doomed to crumble under the weight of expectations from the originals' success, or can they stand strong on their own merit? Join us for “Episode 4: Reboots” before we head into our own inevitable reboot phase. *Note: The comic book referenced in the News Reel, Batman: The Long Halloween, was not written by Frank Miller as implied, but rather written by Jeph Loeb and illustrated by Tim Sale. With Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson's The Batman finally swooping into theatres this weekend, we figured it was time to dust off one of the classic Batman videogames from a bygone era. There were so many games to choose from, but the heavily stylized, relatively well-received nature of Batman Returns made this one a great option. But just because it was thought of as one of the better licensed games on the Super Nintendo at the time doesn't mean it'll hold up in 2022. With the likes of games such as Arkham Asylum and Arkham Knight gracing our consoles in recent years, is there any room for a generic beat-em-up dressed in a cape and a cowl? Before getting to the gameplay we sit down with our friend Dario (@Brains4BRKFST) to take some time to give our first impressions on Elden Ring, and talk about our favourite Batman properties of all time!
