Luke and Isaac talk about music and movies
Welcome to our first ever Film Chat! This is a series where Bryan and Isaac talk about a movie (or movies) they've seen recently. They were also going to talk about Seven Psychopaths, but they ran out of time unfortunately. Dive into a chat with them where they talk about Tom Cruise's height (and how it works for the Mission: Impossible movies), Tom Cruise's personality, Tom Cruise's weird life, and maybe even the movies themselves. Thanks for listening and we hope you enjoy this 35 minute episode on movies. Stay til the end to find out what music they've been listening to recently.
What didn't we talk about in this episode? Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, even She-Hulk! Wow, everything is coming out right now. Even Rick and Morty right now. Do you still watch that? It's good, but it's season 6. I thought we were on Season 4! Seriously! I don't know, it's a good show it's just so much Rick and Morty. Except I will give them that in the very first episode of R & M they had an extended joke about Rick and Morty forever, Rick and Morty for 100 years! So maybe they're just following through with that. Anyway, thanks for listening, we appreciate it!
John VanderPloeg and Isaac talk about their experience with Chicago, CHOCOLATE CAKE, their love of the show, and even talk a little about character actors and sitcoms. What more could you want??? The Bear is on Hulu right now! A gripping show about the woes of being a new owner of a popular restaurant. Chicago vibes abound, great characters, fun camerawork, and overall just a bangin' show. This show doesn't hold back–– it's able to confront grief in a very real way. Go watch it!
An album! Wow, it's been too long since we've done one of those. Sit down with Luke and Isaac as they discuss the merits of Wolf Alice's Blue Weekend in its lyrical content, vibes, mixing, and live performances where large men try to choke each other.
It's finally here! For so long, we heard rumors about an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie coming out, but Disney landed on making it a series on Disney Plus. Hear how Luke and Isaac (original recipe episode!) feel about Obi's latest adventure becoming the best babysitter ever! Or is Mando a better one? Or maybe the Bad Batch? Or, what about some guy in Rebels I don't know about. Probably Ezra's father figure. Anyway, does this make you more excited for more Star Wars or are you DONE? Which one are you? Decide quick! Because more is coming. Also no one is talking about Luke Skywalker as a little kid. I think he was really well cast. Seems like a right soy boy chump who thinks he's not afraid of Tusken Raiders. Get a grip kid. If you listen really closely, when Luke says that, you can hear Yoda say, "you will be... you Will be..." and then he goes "braeghh!" Enjoy, kids.
This is Obi-Wan's last appearance before his Disney Plus adventure! Tune in with Jordan, Alex, and Isaac and hear where Revenge of the Sith shines and where it might falter a bit. Spoilers, Jordan and Alex do not think it falters much at all. A film to be celebrated! 2005 Star Wars is beckoning, lean in close, baby.
The second episode in the saga of Star Wars, a movie that continues Anakin's journey toward darkness. Join Dr. Boomsma, Luke, and Isaac on a journey where they talk about deep romance, sound design, multiple planets, space politics, good and bad acting, seismic charges, and the cleanest bounty hunter (Jango Fett). Get excited, pumped, and anticipatory for Obi-Wan Kenobi, a series coming soon to Disney +. Specifically May 27 there will be two episodes coming out. If you're a Star Wars fan, exciting! If not, you'd probably be confused.
The Phantom Menace is here! Is it Darth Maul? Darth Sidious? Rum Sleg? Find out on this episode where Jordan and Alex host the podcast with their special guests, Luke and Isaac–– they talk Star Wars in preparation for Disney's Obi-Wan Kenobi :) If you've never seen Star Wars, watch The Phantom Menace first, read the surrounding lore of the prequels, catch up on The Clone Wars, and then you'll feel right at home with all the references and jargon thrown around. Good luck! May the force be with you.
Luke and Isaac talk about what may be the best movie of the year!?? Of the decade?? Go decide for yourself, who knows!
Ohhhhhh baby we got Spring Break vibes comin' out of our ears. These movies are so good they're gonna make you feel like you're drinking a piña colada while floating in a pool. Simon Rex is amazing in Red Rocket, Kristen Wiig is fantastic in Barb and Star, and Cristin Milioti is a burgeoning success that's too good for our earth in Palm Springs and much more. Check 'em out!
Listeners! You should know that there's some high quality stuff in this episode. Taika Waititi, Daniel Radcliffe, Zoe Kazan (she's married to Paul Dano, huh! That's fun.), and Omar Sy! These are all movies that are blossoming with springtime energy in Isaac's opinion. Check them out this March!

It's Batman mania. We are just a few days away from the general public's exposure to Robert Pattinson's The Batman and we couldn't be more excited. To celebrate this new Batman film, we're taking a look back at some of the entertaining animated Batman movies. Each of these movies give a wildly different take on who Batman is as a character and how he interacts with the villains, sidekicks, and butlers of his world. Plus, all of these have different voice actors for Batman and The Joker, so it's fun to try to decide which is your favorite. Keep an eye out for our The Batman episode coming soon!
These probably aren't ones you've heard of, but they're definitely worth checking out! Short films aren't talked about as much as blockbuster feature films, but there's a ton of creativity to discover. These are collaborators of Janelle Monáe and Childish Gambino, usually working together on music videos. Great talent displayed here!
This week, we focus on love because of Valentine's Day. It's a little different than you might expect, though. We focus on a love for music, family, and life. I just wanted to broaden the scope of Valentine's Day week a little bit. I love all of these movies, but I think if you had to watch them in a certain order, I would watch Lovers Rock, Hair Love, and then Soul. It's a great triple feature. Big shout out to these directors bringing us this amazing art: Pete Doctor, Kemp Powers (Soul) Steve McQueen (Lovers Rock) Matthew A. Cherry, Everett Downing Jr., and Bruce W. Smith (Hair Love).
This is a great episode on three 10/10 movies. Each are fun & influential in their own way. I'm a huge fan of rewatchable movies and all of these movies are super fun to rewatch. We got some superstars starring in this episode: Spike Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Jai White, BB King, Stevie Wonder, Sly and the Family Stone, and even Questlove. These are important movies for many different reasons, but all are worth a watch.
What do you watch on February 2? Groundhog Day of course, babee! Listen to Isaac talk about not just Groundhog Day but other fantastic comedies such as Top Secret! starring Val Kilmer & the excellent One Cut of the Dead. If you're sick of zombie movies, One Cut of the Dead is perfect for you because it's so fresh, clever, & inventive. If you're sick of lackluster comedies, Top Secret! is perfect for you because you'll never know what the next joke will be. Just watch the trailer and see how you like it! Also, as you probably know, Bill Murray gives one of his best performances in Groundhog Day and, fun fact, he was going through a divorce at the time and was allegedly hard to work with. Maybe that helped him be an asshole in the movie. Who knows!
Today we talk about Fargo, First Reformed, and Howl's Moving Castle. Dude, heck yeah. These are all 5 star movies. You should listen to this episode and then watch the movies for yourself! And then, you should form your own opinion. And then give US 5 stars on your platform for listening. Then! DM us on @WaveFramePod if you read this whole description. I am reluctantly typing this because it'll probably make the SEO give me one more listener. Yay!
Come join Isaac and Anna on a longer talk on the three movies and how they're connected. They're all fantastic movies, but they all strike a deeper chord in different ways. Listen in on how the three movies tackle Manifest Destiny, Classism, and White Supremacy. I capitalized all of those words for no reason but I'm not going to take the time to change it. These are essential conversations to have and important movies to encourage those dialogues. Thanks for listening!
